She had come home five days ago. And since then she hasn’t left the sanctity of her room. Glancing at herself in the mirror she could see the old injury was closing up thanks to the medicine Hokage had given her to take on a regular basis. She slightly turned her head to look over her shoulder. The door slid open. Instead of Sakue with the tray of food, it was her father.
“Hinata, you will stop acting so foolishly.” He said setting the food down. “You are well enough to leave your room.”
Once the words left him mouth she went back to staring at herself in the mirror. Hiashi moved and yanked her shoulder her making her face him. Once looking at her face all anger diminished and he was shocked. Not a single emotion was readable in her pale eyes. What’s worse is her face seemed to match her eyes. Her head lolled to the side as he held the collar of her shirt. She looked dead… if her eyes hadn’t been blinking with the occasional twitch of her hand he could’ve declared she was.
“Hinata…” He looked at her watching her eyes shine with tears. It was sort of eerie looking. Her pale eyes let on no clue as to what she was thinking or feeling, just blank orbs tearing up.
“Could you release me so I could eat?” She spoke, still her face looking eerie.
The girl was full of emotions, she smiled, she blushed constantly, she frowned, and here is she is talking to him with her eyes welling up with out a single true distinct emotion on her face. Hiashi simply released her and left the room leaning against the door. The way she requested him to release her would’ve earned a slap across the face or more…But he couldn’t find it in himself to do it.
“Haven’t you hurt her enough?” Sakue gave Hiashi a stare. Normally he would’ve backhanded the female for talking out of order.
“You mind you chores.”
“I am. You took the tray with letting me put the rice on it.” She dropped her gaze to the bowl of rice in her hands. “But again I’ll say Hiashi… haven’t you hurt the girl enough?”
“Sakue…” He gave her a warning tone but the woman gave him her defiant look. It was funny really; the woman was four years older, worked for him and still defied him.
“Don’t take that tone with me. I have raised you from the time you were Hanabi’s age and now I am raising your children. Time and time again I told you not to get caught up in the world of your family’s riches for you will hurt the ones who mean the most to you.” She kept her defiant stare on him as she watched his defensive stance turn into a slouch. “That girl you call your daughter is hurting. It’s bad enough you’ve neglected her for Hanabi.”
“She is a failure to the name. She is older and should have won the fight easily.” He felt the need to defend himself.
“And could have if she had not been so fascinated to find out she even had a sister!!” Sakue shook her finger at him.
“It shouldn’t have made a difference. Hanabi…”
“…Is a quiet girl who has no means of talking to anyone. It amazes me when she responds to me.” Sakue sighed. “You’re still a stubborn ass, so I’ll tell you this. If you expect to keep control in a house full of women, you better figure out your priorities right away.” She pushed pass him to bring in the rice, which was all Hinata hadn’t eaten by then. She gave a soft smile to Sakue and picked up the rice eating it plain. Hiashi watched this little scene before walking off.
“My priorities are straight…”*~*~*
“Hinata, dinner…” Hanabi was now carrying the tray awkwardly to the room. Once she got the door open she shivered a bit.
She looked around the room finding Hinata nowhere. All that was left behind was her clothes she had been wearing earlier that day and the swaying curtains from her open window. She walked to the window realizing her sister is gone.
“Where did she go?” Hanabi pouted softly.
***He sighed walking into his home rubbing his eyes. He had done some major training for the day and now he was exhausted. He had been working himself far too hard lately. He walked pass his window glaring at the main house. It was his fault why he had been pushing himself too far.
“Unless it is for a family function, I don’t want you anywhere near my daughter… you hear me?!?”
“Bastard…”He muttered tossing his shirt somewhere. He jumped feeling a hand stroking his back. He quickly turned to grasp the hand touching his flesh.
“That I will have to agree with…” Her gentle voice made him relax his grip on the hand. He sighed hoping he hadn’t been dreaming this and he placed the hand upon his cheek. Once he had, her fingers curled to the contours of his face.
“What are you doing here?”
cla class=MsoNormal>“Neji…” She moved slightly letting the setting sun illuminate her face. He could see the tears holding dearly onto her pearl orbs. He reached his hand up to rub at her eyes for her. To anyone who hadn’t known better this was a couple who has always been in love with one another…
“Does it still hurt?” His hand moved to her chest. He knew dimly he was acting very unlike himself but… he didn’t care.
“No… the wound is fine. But that man… I can’t be with him.”
“Your father has already chosen him to be your husband.” Neji spat out regretfully.
“I know… but I don’t care about him. I want to be with you.” She rested her head on his chest.
“But we can’t be together, Hinata.” He pushed her away feeling a sudden ache in his heart.
“Neji…” She raised her head to look him in the face. “I want to be with you.” She smiled softly. “No more games, no more fooling around with the easy stuff.” She blushed at her own words lowering her head losing her nerve. “I don’t know when the wedding will be finalized, but it will be soon, and this I can’t let him have it. I wanted to give it to someone special and…” She trailed off her nerve finally gone.
“You want to give it… to… me?” He looked at her lifting her chin to look him in the eye.
“I do…”
“But Hinata…”
“I don’t care!!” She shouted making him step back. “I don’t care about what image it sends out. I’m a shinobi. Far too long have I gotten the shorter end of the stick, far too long have I hidden in the shadows letting everyone rape me of everything I have; my pride, my life, and now my heart because my father can’t stand that I’m happy!!” She continued screaming.
“Hinata…”
“No more!! I’ve spent my life giving everything I have to everyone else except this one thing. I’ve always dreamt of having the man I love sharing with me the feeling of no longer being a child! I don’t love him Neji!! Can’t you see that?!? I love you!” She stopped screaming to catch her breath.
“You love me?” He asked as if he had been dreaming that for a moment.
“Yes…”
“But being in the branch house I have to serve the main house, do as I’m ordered to. I’ve been ordered to leave you be.” He began to shrink away from her. “The best gift I could ever receive and I can’t even get to keep it.” A voice in the back of his mind prodded.
“Neji…” She reached out grabbing his hand. “Neji, my Neji, I order you to share in the gift I have.”
“Hinata, you will stop acting so foolishly.” He said setting the food down. “You are well enough to leave your room.”
