They had all been sitting in the hallway, their guest long gone figuring this was a family only moment. Now they were all silent waiting for Hokage-sama to tell them what was wrong.
“I’m thirsty…” Neji declared suddenly standing to walk away. His anger for the one he called Uncle reached an all-time high. Even more so than when he had waited so long to tell him that his father sacrificed himself for his family…
“Take your time…” Hiashi muttered as the boy walked by. Once the long haired male was gone Hanabi turned her eyes to her father.
“You… dislike Neji?” Her voice came out soft, softer than the voice of her eldest sister.Hiashi closed his eyes a stressful frown crossed his face but provided no answer. “Father, do you dislike Neji?” Her voice rose in tone as if to demand her question to be answered.
“That is none of your concern.” He gave her a look. “Your sister is ill and…”
“It is because of what they had done in the garden.” She cut him off.
“Hanabi, hush…” Her mother swatted at her hand.
“He knows, mother.” Hanabi replied. “I saw him leaving the window below us after you rushed me along.”
“So you knew and weren’t going to tell me?” Hiashi looked at the woman he called his wife.
“Not that you would listen until you saw for yourself.” She whispered keeping her face away from him afraid of speaking out of term.
“Are you insinuating that I am hard to get to?”
“You are…” The door to operating room door opened and Hokage-sama was standing before them.
“Hokage-sama…” All three of the remaining Hyuuga’s stood.
“Hiashi, it has been just over a month and I see you haven’t been monitoring her progress at all as you were instructed.”
“I have…” He protested. “It had been sealing up”
“Yes, that much is apparent, but it hadn’t been shut. I had warned you with her speedy recovery from the first time I worked on her. I told you she would need monitoring in all statuses, emotions, physical activity, EVERYTHING! What did you do to mess up such wonderful healing?”
“What I did?!?!” HE all but yelled at Hokage before biting his tongue. “I’ve done nothing, Hokage-sama. It was the boy…” He turned his eyes on Neji who had returned with a drink for everyone else despite no one asking him to bring them one.
“I’ve done nothing!!!” Neji protested as he and Hiashi shared a look that could spark electricity between them. Hokage sighed softly.
“Hanabi, Mayumi, if you wish to see Hinata you can. I will talk with the children.”
“Hai…” Both females bowed and entered the room. Leaving two males obviously filled with Hyuuga pride sitting as if they were children who had been fighting oa toa toy and had it taken away.
“Listen, Hinata had been just fine until she had met the one she had been promised to.” Neji started not even raising his eyes to look at the female with the blonde hair. The woman stayed unmoving.
“I doubt it may have been the fact you’re going to make a maiden of the night.” (A/n: Ooo… that’s not nice!)
“Maiden of the night?!?!” Neji gave him a look.
“You heard me! You think that you could do what you did and not be noticed?” He said and Neji froze lowering his head.
“How can I marry Ha lik like you want when it is plain as day I cannot stand to be around the girl?” Hiashi looked ready to backhand him, but looking at Hokage made him rethink the decision.
“Go see your daughter Hiashi… There is something I wish to understand.” She said leaving no room for objection. With a final glare to the boy he entered the room. “Now Neji, what you said can easily be taken as if you… love your cousin?”
“So what if it does?”
“This coming from the one who tried to murder her out of jealousy and rage…”
“Things changed. I finally got the story of my father’s death and the misplaced anger had vanished. ing…ing…”
“Space to know the girl behind the blushes…?”
“Listen, I feel bad enough for trying to kill her.”
“She’s your cousin; it’s highly unusual to fall in love with your cousin.”
“I don’t look at it that way, Hokage-sama.” He finally lifted his head to look at her. “All my life I had been instructed to serve the main house in any way possible. I am only doing as I’m told by serving her need to be loved really and truly.”
“But another could provide for that area.”
“Forgive my saying Hokage, but you’re stupid to not get it. I have been sentenced to a life of servitude for the main house until my death. Ha alr already has it all being the heiress; Hinata has nothing but to attempt to be a shinobi and even that seemed futile.” He paused licking his lips momentarily. “To only see how happy she seemed to be with me… you could see that I’m doing as I was told properly and then some, because whethee kne knows it or not she has been serving my own wants and needs.” He sighed noticing the woman lost in her own thoughts. Without another word he just stood up and walked away.
