‘I thought I’d be happier, they loved us!’ Naruto sighed as the chilling night air made his breath show in huffs of white puffs.
“So why don’t I feel happy?” Naruto asked aloud though he knew no one was there.
“You’re not happy, Naruto-kun?” Naruto gave a small squeak and turned to see Sai giving him an innocent smile. “Hey, cutie.”
“Oh hey, Sai” Naruto said with a sheepish smile. “I didn’t notice you.”
“Oh really?” Sai said, raising a brow in innocent inquiry.
“Ya, sorry bout that” Naruto smiled with a soft blush. “Anyways, shouldn’t you be with your date?” Naruto asked, slightly tilting his head in question.
“Sorry, cutie, but I don’t have one” Sai said simply. “Unless you want to accompany me?”
“M-me?” Naruto’s face went a shade of pink as he stuttered the word.
“Well of course” Sai smiled and moved closer to the blond who stood still.
Naruto said nothing as Sai continued to advance. Closer and closer until both were face to face, breathes mingling as Sai’s face continued to move closer…
“What the hell is going on?” both Naruto and Sai looked over to the door that led inside to see Sasuke standing there with a pissed off look.
“Sasuke?” Naruto asked, looking over to Sai and finally realizing how close they were. “Wahhh!” he blushed and backed up, accidentally tripping over his own two feet and landing on his butt.
“Hello, Sasuke” Sai smirked as he noticed the heated glare Sasuke was giving him.
“I interrupt something?” Sasuke growled, keeping his glare fixed on Sai as he walked over to the two.
“No!” Naruto replied immediately.
“Actually…” Sai’s smirk grew as he bent down besides Naruto and put an arm over the blonde’s shoulder then smiling up at Sasuke.
Sasuke felt rage flow through his veins as Naruto blushed even more. Sai could swear a flash of red flickered in the other teen’s obsidian eyes as he glared down at the sight of him and Naruto.
“Um…Sai? Could you leave me and Sasuke alone for a moment?” Naruto asked while looking down at the ground.
Sai scowled before regaining his smile and nodding.
“I’ll be right inside, cutie” he said before standing up and walking back into the school building, smirking at Sasuke as he passed the boy.
Sasuke scowled deeply as the other boy passed and went inside. The frown left though when the raven haired teen turned back to the blond still on the ground. A calm, blank look came onto his features as the boy stood up but still kept his gaze to the ground.
“Sasuke I-”
“Don’t speak.”
It was a firm command as the shorter teen immediately shut up. The young Uchiha’s look turned soft as he slowly walked over to the blond who continued to look at the ground.
“You never told me that you and Sai were more then just friends” Sasuke was trying to sound calm, nothing more then a nonchalant tease. But the words were filled to the brim with sadness as they slipped passed the taller teen’s lips.
“We’re not” Naruto slightly shouted as his full attention shot right up to Sasuke.
There was silence for a few minutes, a very uncomfortable silence fell upon the two as they just stood there.
“So… is it Ino then?” Sasuke asked, a mixture of hate, curiosity and sadness embinted into the question.
“No” was Naruto’s simple answer.
“Then why was she with you?”
“Because she wanted to be.”
“Why did you go with her?”
“I didn’t have a choice.”
“You like her don’t you? Is that why?”
“The better question is why did you go with Sakura!” Naruto suddenly shouted.
Both were silent once again.
“Because…”
“Because? Because what!”
“Because I wanted to go with you” Sasuke looked down so his bangs covered his face, his eyes to be specific, which held embarrassment and sorrow.
“With…me?”
Sasuke nodded but did not move. Naruto on the other hand, began to slowly walk over to the raven haired teen. Sasuke didn’t even notice until the blond boy was right in front of him. Sasuke looked up to see Naruto looking at him with a soft smile and watery eyes.
“Stupid teme” he murmured before leaning in and closing the gap between them, a kiss, and this time it wasn’t an accident.
