It had been truly depressing. Naruto had tried grinning, smiling, being bouncy and happy like before. But it was all in vein. He couldn’t. it was that simple. It was very depressing. He didn’t let the break up stop him from going to school. It didn’t stop him from continuing the band competition and it most certainly didn’t stop him from skating. But he was always frowning. Blank, sad expressions.
And that’s what made Neji, Gaara and Sai the maddest.
Sasuke had seen the blond as well, it made him guilty. Sakura and Ino hung on him more and more now but he paid no attention. Sasuke had been switching from the two girls. That just attracted more fan girls who had the idea they had a chance with the Uchiha.
A week flew by fast for the broken blond. It was time for the band competition. Naruto sat calmly in his room, a blank look on his face. He wore a short sleeved red shirt with long orange sleeved under and a black vest. He also were black cargo pants and had his hair in its usually spiky form.
“Hey, Naruto” Kiba said as he walked into the room.
Kiba was staying with him for the past few days, otherwise Naruto wouldn’t have gone to school. Kiba was wearing a forest green short-sleeved shirt with long white under sleeves and a black X on the front. We also had on black cargo pants much like Naruto’s.
“Time to go” Kiba said as Naruto nodded and got up. Kiba looked at the blond worriedly as he passed by him.
They drove in silence to the skate park. When they arrived, both gaped at the park. In honor of the festival, the park was decorated with colorful paper lights and had many stands set up.
“Naruto!” Naruto and Kiba, whose eyes turned into hearts, looked to see Kita running up to them.
Kita and Minami ran up to the two and Kita grinned.
“Naruto-kun, can we talk to you?” Minami asked the gloomy blond.
“Sure” Naruto said simply as he followed the twins away from Kiba.
“So what do ya need?” he asked as the three of them stopped at the edge of the skate park, a fairly deserted part of the park.
“Naruto, we um….” Kita began, slightly fiddling with her fingers as she looked from Naruto’s face to the ground.
“Yes?”
“We want you to come to New York with us” Minami said simply since Kita didn’t seem to be capable of it.
“What?” Naruto asked with a surprised look. New York? They were going to New York? And they wanted him to come?
“We’re going to New York, we leave tonight and we thought you should come” Kita said while looked up at the shocked blond.
“But I have the competition!” Naruto shouted.
“Afterwards, Naruto-kun” Minami sighed. Of course they weren’t going to leave before the competition, let along try to drag Naruto away from it.
“We wouldn’t take you away from something like this” Kita smiled as Naruto gave a thoughtful look. “So what do ya say?”
“Well…”
(Elsewhere)
“Neji hurry up and get the drums up here!” Kiba shouted to the teen as he waited behind stage.
“Cram it, Kiba! If your in such a hurry then get your ass down here and help me!” Neji growled back as he made his way towards the dog boy.
“Nah, I’d rather piss you off by ordering you around” Kiba grinned as the Hyuuga finally caught up and placed the last part of his drum set down by the other instruments.
“That reminds me…how is Naruto?” Neji asked, causing the other boy’s expression to slightly fall.
“Well he’s doing better. He went off with Kita and Minami earlier.”
“We can only hope Uchiha doesn’t do anything else.”
“Someone say my name?” Kiba and Neji turned to glare at the raven haired teen at the stage entrance.
“Who let you in here? Kiba growled.
“That would be me!” Sakura smirked as she appeared beside the Uchiha.
“And who let you in here?” Neji questioned.
“I’m helping with the festival, I have all access” she grinned and gave a small peck on Sasuke’s cheek. Of course this caused a look of disgust on Sasuke’s face, but he covered it up fast.
“Well if ya really want to help the festival, try putting a paper bag over your head. Might help the sight” Kiba snickered as he walked over to inspect one of the guitars.
“Funny, mutt. Another funny thing is the fact that I can kick you out of the competition” Sakura said with a victorious smirk.
“That smirking thing is really annoying, especially on that sweet face of yours” everyone looked as Naruto pushed past the stage curtains and into the back stage area where they were. A grin spread on his face for the first time in a week.
‘He’s smiling’ all three boys thought in relief.
“Great, the reject is back’ Sakura sighed and clinged to Sasuke’s arm. “Well, we’re off” she said as she dragged Sasuke off.
“Nice to see ya happy again” Kiba grinned as the smiling blond walked over to him and Neji.
“Well I can’t be gloomy forever, especially tonight” Naruto chuckled.
“Oh, and what did Kita and Minami want to talk about?” Kiba asked curiously.
Naruto seemed stuck for a second before giving a light smile.
“Nothing” he said simply and looked around a bit. “Where’s Gaara?”
“Right here” the redhead said while walking in from behind the curtains like Naruto had done.
“Good” Naruto grinned. “We’re all here.”
(Outside at Concert area)
The large groups of teens had gathered. In a few minutes the bands would begin. Sasuke stood nervously in the large crowd with Ino at his side. Sakura was forced to go back to the stage since she was the announcer.
“Attention…” sakura coughed as she walked into the center of the stage and then towards the edge. “Welcome to the Konoha Leaf Festival. I am Sakura and I will be the announcer for the band competition.”
There was applause, despite some rude comments coming from some people, and then Sakura continued.
“First we have Kiba Inuzuka, Gaara Sabaku, Neji Hyuuga and Naruto Uzumaki,” Sakura said the Naruto’s name with slight disgust. “As Fox Fire!” she announced as the velvet red curtains whooshed open to reveal the 4 teens in position, Naruto with a microphone, Kiba and Gaara with guitars and Neji behind the drums.
Naruto looked out at the crowd with a determined look. ‘I can do this’ he thought as is friends began playing their instruments. ‘I can!’ he thought again as he opened his mouth to sing.

remember when you broke your foot
from jumping out the 2nd floor”
All eyes were on Naruto as he continued to sing.

Naruto finished and gave a calm look as the crowd broke out in cheers. Sasuke looked up at the blond he had let go and then back at Ino who was clapping and cheering. Without a word, Sasuke dashed off, keeping his eyes on the stage as Naruto and the others disappeared behind the red curtains again.
‘Naruto’ he thought the name as he ran faster. Once behind stage, Sasuke looked around to see a mop of blond hair exiting through the other door. Sasuke chased after and out the door but ended up tripping down the last few steps. Sasuke closed his eyes, expecting to meet the cold grassy ground, but instead felt a warm body.
“Bad enough you broke my heart but now you wanna crush my body?” he heard someone sigh from underneath him.
That’s when Sasuke noticed that he had tripped and fell onto the very person he was chasing after. Naruto.
“Naruto” Sasuke said as he sat up, Naruto doing the same while rubbing the back of his head.
“What do ya want, teme? I got things to do” Naruto huffed.
Sasuke didn’t say anything, instead his face lunged forwards and he pressed his lips against Naruto’s. Naruto’s eyes went wide as a wet tongue shot out to probe the outside of his lips. With a mental sigh, Naruto opened his mouth and let the mussel explore his mouth. Naruto made no move to encourage or go along with the Uchiha, he just sat there calmly.
“I’m sorry, Naruto” Sasuke said as he pulled away and hung his head downwards.
“Are you done?” Naruto asked calmly.
Sasuke looked up to see a bored expression on the blonde’s face. It slightly surprised him that Naruto could look like that.
“Well if so…” Naruto began as he got up. “I have to go” he grinned.
“Naruto….do you hate me?” Sasuke asked, head bowed again, causing his eyes to be hidden in the shadows of his bangs.
“I should ask you that” Naruto said, mimicking Sasuke with his head bowed so that his bangs covered his eyes and his back faced Sasuke.
“Why would you think that!” Sasuke shouted as he shot up.
“Because…you used me and then left me” Naruto said with a said smile as he turned to Sasuke. “I guess you didn’t love me…and that’s why you cheated on me then broke my heart even more by leaving me.”
“That’s not why!”
“That tell me why!” Naruto shot back with furious eyes.
“It’s because…” ‘Because I love you and didn’t think I could make you happy.’
“Well?”
Sasuke said nothing as his head lowered again. He didn’t notice that Naruto was walking towards him until he felt a warm hand lift his chin and found himself looking into a sweet smile of Naruto’s.
“No matter the answer, I guess it doesn’t matter…” Naruto began as he leaned in and gave Sasuke a small, sweet kiss. “Because I’ll love you always.”
“Naruto-kun” Sasuke looked passed Naruto to see Sai standing there.
His eyes widened as Naruto let him go and walked over to Sai, lacing his arms into the other teen and then looking back at Sasuke with a sad smile again.
“But realize this isn’t goodnight, this is goodbye” Naruto said as him and Sai walked off.
‘Naruto’ Sasuke thought as he fell to his knees and watched the two walk away.
‘Goodbye.’
