Naruto Fan Fiction ❯ Something's Always Wrong ❯ Chapter 1

[ X - Adult: No readers under 18. Contains Graphic Adult Themes/Extreme violence. ]
A/N: The idea for this story came from my friend. I sent her a text message with 3 main couple pairings, she chose SasukeXSakura. Here's the funny thing, she doesn't even watch anime. Lol. I really haven't ever liked Sasuke's character (no offense to anyone who does), so he was really hard for me to write. So, hopefully no one will ream me on reviews, ie. Sasuke would never act like that, I know. Anyhow, enjoy the story and as always, leave me a review and be as honest as you'd like!
Thanks for reading! Ani
Music plays a big part of my writing process, contary to the title (which I borrowed from a Toad The Wet Sprocket song) the insperation for this chapter came from,

Back 2 Good by Matchbox Twenty:

It's nothing, it's so normal you
just stand there I could say so much
but I don't go there cuz I dont want to
I was thinking if you were lonely
maybe we could leave here and no one would know
at least not to the point that we would think so

everyone here, is wondering what it's like to be with
somebody else
everyone here's to blame, everyone here
gets caught up in the pleasure of the pain, everyone hides
shades of shame, but looking inside we're the same, we're
the same
and were all grown now, but we don't know how
to get it back to good

Something's Always Wrong

Chapter 1

Sakura sat the table in the back of the resturant. She looked around at her friends, she was supposed to be happy. But really, what did she have to be happy about?

She saw Shikamaru come in with Temari, right behind them were Chouji and Ino?!? Even Ino had date for crying out loud, she thought, sinking lower in her chair, I'm the only one here without date, she groaned inwardly, this can't get any worse.

"Hey Sakura-chan!" Naruto yelled.

For the love all that is sacred, don't make me have to kick his ass in front of Hinata, she thought, pasting on a fake smile, "Naruto, Hinata, hey what's up?"

"What's with the weird smile?"

"Naruto, I will kick your ass in front of her.", she hissed at him through clenched teeth.

"Anyway, I figured you would be the happiest one here. Your Sasuke is back.", Naruto said in his normal loud voice.

"Yeah. Go me. Woo hoo," she said in a flat tone.

"Hey are you okay? You need to talk to someone?" Naruto asked her, looking concerned.

Hinata chose then to excuse herself to talk to Neji.

Naruto sat down across from her, "So, what's on your mind?"

She certianly wasn't going to talk to him about it with him so she changed the subject, "What's up with you and Hinata? I didn't know you had a girlfriend Naruto." Otherwise I would of quit sleeping with you, she thought.

"Yeah, I guess I forgot to tell you" he laughed nevrously.

She mentally counted to ten, "Naruto how could you? Are you sleeping with her too?" she asked him, her temper rising, "And don't lie, 'cause you know I'll ask her and explain why I'm asking."

"No! I swear! She won't yet. That's why I want you to come over tonight," he said hopefully.

"You're such a fucking pig," she said, even though they both knew she'd come anyway.

"Come after midnight, around 12:30," Naruto said running his finger down her bare arm.

She watched him walk over to where Hinata was sitting with Neji.

Even Naruto has somebody, how depressing, she sighed to herself and got up to leave. She looked over at the entrance door a saw Kakashi come in.

He caught her attention and waved her over.

She walked over to Kakashi. "I didn't expect to see you here. Is everything okay?" she asked the copy ninja.

"You need to come with me. Now," the jounin said to her.

She followed him out the door and into the cool night air. She wondered what this was all about, maybe Lady Tsunade wanted her. She looked at her watch, it was 10pm. Man, I hope this doesn't take long, she thought as she followed Kakashi into Konoha Hospital.
***

Great, she thought, she's going to pawn her paperwork off on me again. Well, I'm not staying past midnight. They were heading into the ANBU section. Why are we here? she wondered. It was the only section of the hospital where the patient rooms were singles wirh pick-proof locks or seals on the doors. Only the senior medics and ANBU doctors were allowed up here. ANBU could be dangerous to themselves and others. She noticed quite a few medics were from the Nara clan. Duh, she thought to herself, kagename no jutsu. ANBU flashbacks could be really violent, and if she remembered right, Nara Shikamaru's mom worked up here.

She was so lost in thought, she didn't notice Kakashi had stopped and walked into him. "Oh crap! I'm sorry Kakashi-senesi, I wasn't paying attention," she said quickly.

Tusnade stepped out from room 13, pulling the door shut behind her. "Haruno Sakura, we have a patient on this floor who will only speak to you. Are you willing to speak to this patient?"

"Yes, Tsunade-sama, I am," she said without thinkng.

"Sakura, don't you even want to know who the patient is?" the Fifth asked her.

"Uh, sure. What do I need to know about the case?" she asked her mentor.

Tusnade handed her a chart and walked away.

Kakshi leaned over and whispered in her ear, "What are you doing later?"

"I'm, uh, busy," she said looking at her former teacher. Ugh, Temari is right. I'll attach myself to anyone who'll show me a little attention.

"Okay then. You know where to find me if you change your mind."

She watched the jounin walk out the same door they came in. Sakura walked down to the medic's station and sat down to read the chart. She nodded at the medic at the desk across from her and flipped the metal cover back.
***

She almost lost her grip on the chart. No way, no way. She looked again, the name on the chart was still the same.

Uchiha Sasuke

Her blood turned to ice in her veins. She looked at the monitor on the desk and changed feed until she got to room 13. She looked at the screen, his hair was longer in front and partially covered his face. Other than that, he looked the same. He was sitting in the corner of the room staring straight ahead.

Why me? she thought, he hated me. I annoyed him.

As she finished reading the chart, a hand-written note on the last page caught her attention: uresponsive to questioning, keeps repeating 'sakura' meaning unknown. And underneath in Tsunade's writing: Haruno Sakura?

She took a deep breath and got up to go to his room. She paused one last time to gather her compsure and punched her code into the door.

When he heard the door open he looked over at it, she saw his eyes widen in recognition, "Sakura?"

"Yes, I've been sent here because you wanted to talk to me," she said in a clipped voice. Stay professional, she thought.

"Sakura, you look beautiful," he said standing up.

"W-what?" she said, taking a step back. Is he messing with me? What's this about anyway? she wondered.

"You're so beautiful. I've missed you," he said coming over to her. He reached up to touch her face.

She really didn't mean to flinch away from him. She saw the hurt in his eyes. "Sasuke, what happened to you?"

"Sakura, you have no idea, Orochimaru is dead," he closed his eyes and when he opened them again they were Sharingan.

She took a step back and out the door as the room filled with ANBU and medical ninja. She watched them restrain and sedate her former team mate.

A medic tapped her on the shoulder, "Lady Tsunade wants to see you at the security station."
