Sasuke: In The Sun-Joseph Arthur (yes, it's a semi-christian song, it's very beautiful)
I picture you in the sun
wondering what went wrong,
and falling down on your knees
asking for sympathy, and being
caught in beween all you've wished for
and all you've seen, and trying
to find anything you can feel
you can believe in

I know I would apologize
if I could see your eyes
'cause when you showed me myself, you know,
I became someone else
but I was caught in between, all you
wished for and all you need
I picture you fast asleep, a nightmare comes
you can't keep away, may God's love be with you

Chapter 4

She got to the top of the stairs and pushed open the door; standing at the door of the ANBU ward was Naruto. Now what? she wondered.

"Hey Sakura-chan! Where's Granny Tsunade?" he yelled, not even bothering to lower his voice.

"How would I know? I just got here. And before you ask, no, I can't sneak you in," she said, glaring at him.

"See, that's where you're wrong. I want you to give him this," Naruto said holding out an envelope and Sasuke's old headband.

"Naruto... You kept that all these years?"

"Well, I couldn't just throw it away, I mean, I promised you," he said grinning

She took the note and headband. She threw her arms around him and hugged him tight. "Naruto, you're so sweet, I love you."

"Sakura-chan, I had no idea you felt that way about me," he said jokingly.

She punched him on the side of the head. "As a friend, baka!"

"Oi, you keep that up and you'll turn me on!" he said wiggling his eyebrows.

For the second time that morning, Sakura found herself doubled over in laughter. "Naruto, you are too much. Wait here." She swiped her ID and entered the secured ward.

By the time she got to room 13, she had regained her composure. She keyed in her code, unlocking the door.

Sasuke stood up when she entered the room. "Sakura, you look...beautiful. When did you get so beautiful?"

"Baka, I've always been beautiful," she said jokingly, to break the ice.

His eyes widened in surprise, "Did you just call me baka?" To his shock, he found himself laughing. "Dead-last."

Her mouth dropped open, "I haven't been called that in years. Anyway, how are you feeling?"

"Pretty good, since I saw you. What are you holding?"

She blushed, "Naruto wanted me to give this to you," she said holding out the headband and letter to him.

"I wouldn't mind seeing the loser. They still think I'm gonna freak out, so they won't move me yet. But Lady Tsunade said when I'm 'stable', I can go home."

"I can get Naruto in, Lady Tsunade put me in charge of your case. I'm a medical nin now. Do you want to read that first?" she said pointing to the letter.

"Yeah," He opened the letter and imedately started laughing. He showed her the letter to her, it said: I can too put a scratch on your forehead. He noticed her confused look and held up the scratched headband.

"I always thought you did that. Naruto hasn't ever talked about the fight at the valley," she looked away, " He's never given up on you."

"Wow, even I gave up on me for awhile. Itachi killed Orochimaru," he laughed bitterly "Naruto killed Itachi."

"He didn't have a choice!" she said, rushing to defend Naruto. "He was trying to protect me and himself."

"It's okay, I'm glad they're both dead," he pulled his shirt off, "look, the curse mark disappeared when that snake bastard died."

She was looking everywhere, except at his shoulder. He chuckled and she turned bright pink.

"Yeah, we figured that's what happened because Anko's curse mark disappeared too."

"Sakura, I'm so sorry for everything. I never realized how much I hurt everybody. I regret everything I said to you that night," his coal black eyes were full of regret.

She sat down across from him and crossed her legs, then she balanced the metal-covered chart on her knee and started to write. She could almost feel his gaze traveling up and down her body. She smiled and uncrossed her legs and streched.

He smirked at her, Two can play at this game, he thought. He closed his eyes and focused his chakra. She crossed her legs again and started writting some more. He watched her with an amused look.

Her head jerked up, Shit, what the hell? It feels like someone is running their hand up my leg, she thought looking down and then over at him. Then she realized, it was his fucking chakra! What the hell was he trying to do? She stood up and moved across the room, she glared at him. "What in the hell are you trying to pull?"

The amused look was quickly replaced by a look of shock. "Sakura...I'm not trying to pull anything," he said with a look of hurt and confusion.

Looking for an excuse to leave the room, she said, "I'll go get Naruto."

"Sakura, wait, please. I'm sorry. I wasn't trying to trick you."

"Look, it's going to be at least 2 more days until I can get you moved, okay? So, let's not fool ourselves," she said, her green eyes shimmering with tears.

"Don't cry, please. I don't care if I'm in this room for the rest of my life, as long as I can see you, it'll be okay."

"Stop saying stuff like that!" she yelled at him, the tears spilling over.

"Sakura, what do you mean? Stuff like what?" he asked her, his eyes clouding with confusion.

"Things you don't mean!" she cried, running out the door.

He stood there staring at the door trying to figure out what the hell just happened.
***

Naruto almost jumped out of his skin when Sakura came banging out the door. "OI!" he griped, as he jumped out of the way of the door. He notice her tears and grabbed her by the elbow, "Sakura, what's wrong?"

She yanked her arm away from him and swiped at the tears. "What the fuck is wrong with guys? Why do guys think if they say a few sweet words and then we'll give you anything?" she asked the confused chunin.

Naruto thought about what he was going to say, he really didn't want to upset her more. "Sakura-chan, I can't explain that for you, mostly becuse I don't know. All I can say is, we do it because it works," he said shrugging his shoulders, bracing for the punch that never came. He cupped his hands around her face and brushed away the tears with his thumbs. Sapphire blue eyes stared into her jade green eyes. "Sakura-chan, I'm sorry if I ever hurt you in any way," he said kissing her. "Come on, let's get you out of here for awhile. I'll buy you lunch."

"Okay," she said, mostly to herself.

Sakura's song: Devil- Staind
She sits alone again
And tries her best not to pretend
That all she used to live for
Is the love that wasn't there.

And every time she needs to do the things
That she believes
Will fill the void inside of her
Becuse he was never there,

And she says, "I swear I'm not the devil
though you think I am,
I swear I'm not the devil"
