Strange Happenings
Chapter 6
Christy's P.O.V.
Me and Kakashi relaxed in the virtual world of a park. I sighed thinking about what happened on the way here. It was… Interesting. People were staring as usual but it was Kakashi that freaked me out the most. Everytime we passed by a beautiful girl, he would stop and asked how she was doing. That wasn't as bad as Kakashi stepping in a store and stole a pack of tea. He said it was free and he shouldn't pass up a good opportunity but it wasn't free. It was free of sugar. Stupid. You'd think Klyde would have updated him to the times but let him keep his personality. Men. Impossible. But back to where we were.
“It's amazing,” Kakashi uttered. He was sitting with one leg stretched out and the other one bent; his hand in his hair. The wind was blowing slightly and he looked gorgeous. I looked at him but quickly looked down.
`He's amazing!'
“What do you mean, Kakashi?” My voice quivered ever so slightly.
“This place. You're telling me it isn't real? That it's only an illusion?”
Our picnic was held in a machine, a virtual world where you could set it on any place at any time. We were under an Oak tree on a plaid blanket. The warm wind was blowing and the sun was just setting. It was beautiful.
“Yeah. This place is purely imaginary. I know that the hologram pails in comparison with the real thing but people sometimes can't take the time off to go visit those places so they come here. It's kind of like a vacation in your neighborhood.” I got out some sandwiches for me and handed him rice, sauce, and egg rolls. I ate some egg rolls myself. I leaned against the tree resting my eyes. It was just like a vacation! It had been a while since I've been here. Work wouldn't let me come near here. Me and Kakashi ate in silence and also awed in silence as the sun went down and the stars came out. Once the food was gone, I packed all the stuff up and broke out the drinks. It was a memory moment. Me, Kakashi, and the glowing full moon in a meadow. `Aaagh,' I sighed in my head. `Nothing can go…WAIT!' I nearly spat out my drink. I looked up again. The moon was out! `Crap!' I thought I put on specifically, half moon! I got up and shot toward the control panel that was near the door.
“Christy? What's wrong?” His guard was up now. Not what I needed. I quickly stabbed at the controls with sweaty fingers. The code…34581ZR. Done! The moon slowly receded into a half moon. I breathed out, relieved. `That was close.' I slowly sat down as my body calmed down. Kakashi ran up bedside me, checking me for wounds.
“Are you alright? What did you do?” I pointed upward at the moon. He looked up then frowned. Looking back at me, his eyebrow raised. I chuckled at his expression.
“I told the controls for a half moon not a full one.” He slumped his shoulders in disappointment. His eye went into a bored expression.
“You scared me over the shape of a moon? What's so special about how the moon looks?” Stuck! I thought up an excuse and I was going to regret it but if it meant my pride to save my only friend besides Klyde I'll do anything. I smiled.
“You… Look gorgeous in this lighting.” I looked down to add an embarrassed effect which wasn't that hard since I was blushing like crazy! I didn't look up to see him smile but I raised my head when he stood up and helped me up. We went back to the blanket and folded it up. I stuffed it in the basket and exited the room. Our trip home was in silence. `I sooo blew it!'
Kakashi's P.O.V.
`She's interesting. Risking herself to save her secret.' He smiled. `Just like me. But what is it?' I hated the silence but if she didn't want to speak, I might as well not press the matter till we get home. I frowned. `Home?' Thee sun was out and it was really weird because we were just at a place when it was already night so adjusting was sore. Walking back to her place was just as fun as walking in Konaha. Many people to meet, new things to figure out; who needs missions? Just walking outside was a journey. I stuffed my hands into my pockets and looked up but was jerked back to my senses when I felt something tug at my sleeve. It was Christy. She didn't look up at me when she said, “Sorry Kakashi but I need to go get something. Can you stay out here and watch the basket?” Being me I wanted to go in to see what was up but I shrugged and smiled.
“Of course, Christy. That is what I am here for.” She smiled back and walked in this small store. `Yeah. I'm here to hold onto baskets for mischievous girls.' Seeing nothing to do, I whipped out my book and began reading. I was at my favorite chapter and I was dying to figure out what was going to happen. (Even though I've read them about a thousand times.)
Christy's P.O.V.
I needed to get something from my doctor. He was the only one who knew my `condition' and unfortunately he was the only one with a cure. Well, not really cure; more like medicine to make it go away a little. Bad thing was though because no one ever really visited anymore, he sold everything at outrageous prices. I walked straight to the counter and rang the bell. It took a few seconds for him to pop out.
“Ahh, my favorite customer, Christy. How are you?” his tone was pleasant. The thing people didn't suspect when first looking at him was that we was as devious as a fox. He would do anything for a hint of money, the con artist. At least his stuff worked.
“Hey, Dr. Sizo,” I said smiling. “I need another ounce of that stuff. May I have some?” I asked politely. I hated him. He rubbed his chin. This guy was at least 18 and he was cute. That's what made his victims so unwary. That's how I was sucked in.
“Sure, Christy. But you know what? You've been coming here for about a year now and you've been doing very well in your payments. Maybe I can give you a discount.” Bonus points! Finally.
“No thank you, Dr. You've been too nice to me so far.” That's what you do now-a-days. Refuse what's given to you.
“No I insist. It is now only 100 gidgets (dollars) instead of the usual 300. How's about that?” I smiled in glee! At least I won't have to give up my whole work fee for it anymore.
“If you really want me to. I mean it's no trouble at all right now.” He leaned down under the counter and came up with a small bottle of fluid. My hand came up to grab it but it was slipped from my grasp. `Of course.' My smile faltered for a second but recovered.
“What's the matter, Dr. Sizo?” I asked knowing. He leaned over the counter.
“You know, I'll give you the discount under one condition.” I looked confused. `What condition?'
“You give me a kiss and I'll let you have this with discount from now on. What do you say?” `You have got to be kidding me.'
“Do I have to kiss you everytime I come here to get a discount?” I asked, my mind grimacing.
“Nope. Just this once. Everything else is discounted from me personally. Deal?” I thought it over and knowing I really didn't want to I was going to do it anyways. `One kiss equals lifetime of discount. Damn!'
“Deal. One kiss and I get the discount.” I place the 100 gidgets on the desk and leaned close to his face. He had a smug grin on his face that I could easily wipe off decided against it. Leaning in a few more inches, our lips touched and I was about to pull away when his hand snaked its way on the back of my head and held me there against his lips. I tried to fight back but he just smiled, running his tongue across the bottom of my lip. I fought my body's response to open my lips. Finally his grip loosened and I was able to jerk away from him, a look of disgust upon my face. He shrugged and waved after me. I stuffed the thing in my pocket.
“Come again soon.” `As if!' But I knew this ounce would only last me a month. I wiped my lips off with the back of my sleeve and walked toward Kakashi. He looked up from his book, half his face a little red.
“Ugh, God Kakashi! Read that stuff in the privacy of a three foot walled house.” I tried avoiding meeting him eye to eye as I walked down the metallic sidewalk, hearing his footsteps follow behind me and a small laugh escape his mouth. `Disgusting!' I thought. `But not as disgusting to what happened to me.' I sighed. Today had been weird, interesting, and all around…Different. Not something I'd usually do on a Saturday. Kakashi walked a little faster to catch up beside me. He grinned at as he put his book away. He was a little…Energetic from reading.
“So, what did you get?” he asked as if a kid on his birthday. I raised my shoulders, not interested in where this conversation was going.
“Nothing. I just needed to ask about something, that's all.” I really hoped he believed me but I didn't look at him to see. Eyes hold the very being of a person. Looking into them can tell a person your life story so I wanted to avoid that. My life was full of crap and messed up things that no great perfect copy ninja wanted to hear. So with that we went to my apartment. I cooked dinner for Kakashi but didn't eat myself. That kiss left me too disgusted to eat anything so I just skipped it and went to the bathroom. Closing the door and locking it, I placed the small bottle on the top of the cabinet and turned on the water to extremely hot. Than I washed my mouth and brushed my teeth from infection of a delusional store owner than put my arm underneath the water. I hissed in pain but waited till my skin was red and numb. I used my other hand to grab a needle from my medicine cabinet and sucked up all the liquid in the ounce bottle. Throwing the bottle into the waste basket, I concentrated on the hot spot of my arm. Removing my arm from the water I quickly stuck myself with the needle. It was kind of strange. All my life I grew up fearing needles and shots but now I gave them to myself all the time. After pouring all the contents into my blood I placed the needle back into the cabinet, shut the door, and bandaged my arm. I sat down on the toilet and waited for the spasms to cease before applying the band aid. I hated the spasms but that was the price I paid for my curse. The shaking stopped and I wiped my eyes from tears. I pulled down my sleeve after bandaging it up and opened the door. I looked around for Kakashi but he wasn't anywhere. That's when I looked in my room.
Cliffhanger! Please review on how I'm doing so far. Who knows? I might be inspired to actually finish this story? Maybe… Bye!
