Naruto Fan Fiction ❯ Team Four: The Untold Story ❯ Memories of the Past ( Chapter 1 )
[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]
A/N: This story has three Ocs who will be paired up with various Naruto characters. There will be some slash, but not the main pairing and no pairings will ever get graphic. This story starts a year before Naruto does so that I can introduce the main characters (the Ocs). They are going to be in the same year as Team Gai. Most of the Rookie Nine will not make an appearance until I get to the Chunin exams. Also, in this chapter I use a journal format to tell flashbacks, this will be the only time I use this format. I hope you like what you read.
Disclaimer: Naruto is not mine. The Ocs are mine. I wish Gaara was mine.
Team Four: The Untold Story
Chapter 1: Memories of the Past
“Ok class, as your name is called please come through the door to the exam room. Those of you waiting may talk amongst yourselves, but please do not leave you seats unless your name has been called.” The sensei instructed before calling the first name and leaving the room.
“Great!” I mumbled to myself, “Why is it that all my friends sit on the other side of the room!”
I slumped down into my seat and glared at Alviss and Tenten across the room before sighing in defeat and pulling out my journal. Writing in my journal is something I normally only do when I'm bored and have something important to write down. Today, however, I was only bored so I was just going to flip through a couple of my older entries to pass the time.
The first entry I flipped to was from when I was five. I had just received my journal as a present from my father. Of course this was back when I still lived in Suna and still referred to my Journal as a Diary.
Dear Diary,
Today my Tou-san gave me this diary as a present for doing a good job in my training with Temari-chan and our Sensei. Sensei is training us to fight with fans and use wind as a weapon. It's a lot of fun! Temari-chan's better at it then me, though that's ok because she's my best friend and she always helps me out when I need it. Today, on the way home from class we saw her younger brother, Gaara-san. I'm not supposed to talk to Gaara-san, but he looked so lonely that I just had to say “Hi!” I know! I'll give him my teddy! Teddy always kept my company when I was lonely, now he can help keep Gaara-san from being lonely. Oh! Tou-san says it's time for dinner. I'll write more tomorrow.
“Next,” I heard Sensei announce and glanced up quickly, hoping it would be my turn only to be let down as the sensei called out, “Hyuuga Neji!”
Then I laughed as one of the boys near me said, “I don't know why they're even wasting their time. They should just go ahead and hand him his hitae-ate and save us all a couple of minutes.” Looks like I wasn't the only impatient person in the room.
I turned my attention back to my journal and sighed when I realized what the next entry was about.
Dear Diary,
I'm sorry I haven't written in you more often, but I promised Tou-san I'd use this diary to record all the important events in my life. So today I'm writing about my Tou-san. He was killed in action today. I'm at Sensei's house with Temari-chan right now. I think I'm still in...what's the word...shock! Yeah, that's it. I think I'm still in shock because the news hasn't sunk in yet. How am I suppose to believe that my Tou-san's never gonna come back. Sensei told me that the Kazekage is sending me to live with my mother in Konoha. As if he'd care! He doesn't even care about his own children. Someone else probably ordered it. I don't wanna leave home! Home is where Temari-chan and Gaara-kun are. I hope we'll still be friends.
I was brought back the real world again be Rock Lee jumping out of his seat and racing toward the exam room. Wow, that boy can run!
Thinking about that journal entry always makes me sad. I've occasionally sent and received letters to and from Temari-chan, but after the first couple of letters from Gaara-kun he stopped sending them. Temari never speaks of him in her letters either. I hope he's doing okay.
As Lee-kun came bouncing out of the exam room with his hitae-ate in hand the teacher called out Alviss's name. Since I knew Alviss would be fine I returned to my journal. The next entry was written a couple of days after moving in with Kaa-san.
Dear Diary,
Sorry for not writing sooner. I've been busy getting everything unpacked. Kaa-san's been really nice, so far. She introduced me to her best friend, Kurenai-chan. Kurenai-chan has a little brother. His name is Alviss and he's two months older then me. Kaa-san says we'll be going to the Ninja Academy together. I'm happy for the first time in a long time. I'm making new friends and Kaa-san is really fun. I'm still missing Tou-san and Temari-chan and Gaara-kun as well. But I'm sure I'll see Temari-chan and Gaara-kun again someday! Well, tomorrow is my first day at the ninja academy, so I better get some sleep!
As Alviss came back into the room I smiled as I saw that he had been successful. To this day Alviss has been my best friend. He's like a big brother to me.
I flipped ahead a couple of entries. This one took place when I was seven. It was another sad memory, but with every sad event something happy follows it.
Dear Journal,
I hope that by writing this down I'll find something to be happy about. Today, when I got home, Kurenai-chan and Alviss were there Kurenai told me that my Kaa-san had been sent on a top secret mission and had died trying to save a child that had been in the wrong place at the wrong time. My first reaction was to repress the worst of the news and try to be calm. I have no other family, so what would I do now? Kurenai-chan solved that problem. She says she's going to adopt me. Even though Kurenai is young she's been taking care of Alviss since their parents died a couple of years ago, so the Hokage gave the okay. Kurenai-chan says it's okay to think of her as an older sister instead of a parent, though. So now Alviss is my Aniki. Even though I miss my Kaa-san I know that with the help of my new Onee-chan and Aniki that I'll get through it.
I've lived with Nee-chan and Alviss for five years now. I can't imagine life without them.
Nee-chan also introduced me to my other best friend. Hyuuga Hinata has been taking privat lessons from Kurenai for a couple of years now. She's like my little sister. It's so adorable how she gets embarrassed so easily!
“Kari,” Narumi elbowed me, “It's your turn!”
“Oh! Thanks!” I blushed and hurried to the door. It's time to put the past behind me and move forward in life. Time to become a ninja!
A/N: I hope everyone likes this first chapter. The journal entries were suppose to be childish, but I didn't want it too childish because I would think that the children that are training to be ninja would grow up faster then other children. I also think that Ninja children would learn how to write and read earlier then normal so that they could focus more on training and the like.
As far a pairing for this story go...Kari will NOT be paired with Gaara. I just want them to be friends. I'm thinking about pairing her with either Lee, Shino, or Sai. Lee because it would be fun. Shino because it would be different. Sai because I love him and think he's funny. If you want a say in it then review. The person with the most votes will be the one she's with. Remember if she's with Sai then that relationship will take longer to get to since he comes in so late in the series.
The next chapter is already written and just needs to be typed so it should be up in a day or two. I hope someone's looking forward to it
