Lyrics to the song:
Tears from the moon
Couldn't sleep so I went out walking
Thinking about you and hearing us talking
And all the things I should have said
Echo now inside my head
I feel somethin' fallin' from the sky
I'm so sad I made the angels cry
Tears from the moon
Fallin' down like rain
I reach for you
I reach in vain
Tears from the moon
Tears from the moon
It just ain't fair, this thing called loving
When one step and the other feels nothing
I would've done anything for you
I still love you, baby I adore you
All day I keep from falling apart,
But at night, when the sky gets dark--
Tears from the moon
Falling down like rain
I reach for you
I reach in vain
Stop...
Stop haunting me
It should be easy
As easy as when you stopped wanting me
I~
Tears from the moon
Falling down like rain
I reach for you
I reach in vain
Tears from the moon
Falling down like rain
The tears from the moon
Can't wash away the pain
Tears from the moon~
Tears from the moon~
Tears from the moon~

~`*`Chapter One`*`~
~`*`Prologue: Tears`*`~
Hinata decided. She would tell him today. She had waited long enough...and her heart was yearning for him. Hinata summoned up all her courage as she got out of bed and got dressed in her normal attire; white undies with a bow, black pants, white medical tape chest restraint, black shirt, medical tape tied to her leg, and jacket. Check, check, and check. She got all her normal supplies together for practice she had this afternoon with Kiba and Shino. She pushed her just brushed dark blue hair back and looked in the mirror. She looked slightly nervous...she had plenty of time to calm down before reaching Naruto's house. Hinata smiled at her reflection and walked out of the room. Neji caught her as she was walking down the hall to the door. "Hinata-chan...," he said a bit suprisedly. She almost never went out in the mornings. "Where are you off to this morning?"
"I just have...a long-awaited issue to attend to," Hinata replied with a giggle and a blush. Her heart was light and carefree. She felt like nothing could bring her down. Neji just stared. He couldn't remember her acting like this before..what was she up to? Before he could ask, Hinata skipped her way to the door and left with a smile and a wave.
"Hmmm...something is amiss here..." He had said after she had gone, having been stopped in his tracks by her odd and overly happy mood.
Hinata practically skipped down the street, not a care in the world. Hinata was in a love-drunken stupor. She smiled and waved at random people down the streets. She knew all of them well. She finally made it to Naruto's street. She walked quickly, hastily making her way to his apartment. Her heart was thumping loudly in her ears, and racing fast in her chest, thumping hard against it as though trying to get out. Next thing she knew, she was standing in front of Naruto's door. She felt dizzy...no! She couldn't pass out! Not now! Not when she was so close! She hesitated...then slowly rapped on his door. Footsteps. Her heart thumped louder. The doornob twisted. Her heart almost jumped out of her chest. She looked up with a smile, waiting for Naruto to answer the door. Slowly, so painfully slowly, it opened. Hinata gaped in suprise, her face practically glowing crimson. She surely wasn't expecting this...her heart kept its fast pace...even though it was breaking.
"O-Oi, H-Hinata-chan," Naruto's voice snapped out of her gaping awe. "Sakura! Stop that!" Naruto was blushing. He was in his boxers, blue and white plaid, and Sakura, only in her pink frilly bra and panties was clinging onto Naruto. Sakura looked at Hinata, a bit dazed. Her eyes went wide, remembering a secret Hinata had once shared with her. Hinata loved Naruto. "Umm...i-is there something you want..?" Hinata backed away a step, still smiling.
"N-No...Naruto-kun...n-nevermind...," Hinata replied softly as she began walking down the hall. "W-Wrong r-room." She attempted to hide the fact that she had gone there to see him. Naruto just stared after her a moment.
"Sorry...Hinata-chan...," Sakura whispered. She must've come...to confess...and then...seen them...like this...Needless to say, Sakura felt horrible, even more so when Naruto turned and crushed his lips to hers and closed the door, resuming what they had started.
Hinata walked slowly back down to the street. Her face retained some of the redness, her eyes still widened in shock of what she had seen...Her heart...she felt it weigh her down suddenly. She felt as though she were a million pounds. Her feet would barely move for her...she needed to be alone...but where...? The training area. No one would come for a few hours...Hinata started towards the training area, her hair hiding her face from the world. Her heart...her fraile heart...she felt it breaking; shattering into a billion pieces as though it were glass. She quickened her pace. Hinata felt cold. She started running. Hinata was slightly startled when her feet abruptly stopped and she looked at where she was, panting slightly. The training grounds. How had she gotten here so quickly? She shook her head slightly. Hinata was just happy that she was the only one here. Slowly, ever so slowly, she picked out a spot and trudged. She sat by a tree in the open so her friends could see her when they arrive...Hinata shook her head again, that painful smile staying put, unmoving, refusing to leave her face against her will. She wanted to frown...she wanted to break down and cry...but she couldn't. She didn't know why...maybe because she wouldn't be alone for long..? Hinata shook her head again, pulling her legs to her chest and burying her face in them. She wrapped her arms around her legs so she would stay put. She wandered, lost in her many thoughts. Slowly...she lost consciousness....
"Hinata?," a worried voice asked. She opened her eyes. How long had she been asleep? She felt someone shake her lightly. Who was it? Hinata slowly raised her heavy head. Shino was the first she saw. "Hinata...are you alright?" Hinata still wore her painful smile as she cocked her head to the side.
"Shino's right," a voice behind him rang out. "You don't look so good, Hinata." She looked up...It was Kiba. Kurenai stepped into sight and kneeled down beside Shino, looking at Hinata. She put a hand to Hinata's forehead.
"You don't have a fever...," Kurenai said quietly. "Do you feel well, Hinata? Be honest." Hinata's broken eyes met Kurenai's concerned ones.
"Of course...Kurenai-sensei...why wouldn't I...be alright..?," Hinata asked at almost a whisper.
"You're pale, Hinata, paler than usual," Kurenai replied softly. "Your eyes...do not look well...almost sunken in..." She looked concernedly over Hinata. Hinata just smiled that horrible, painful, smile.
"I'm fine, Kurenai-sensei, really," Hinata responded, her voice still almost a whisper. Now Kiba and Akamaru were over to her other side, Kiba sat and Akamaru put his head on Kiba's.
"Does your throat hurt?," Shino asked. "You're speaking quieter than usual." She could practically see the worried frown beneath his coat.
"No...I feel...fine," Hinata whispered. "Shall we train today?"
"No...Hinata-chan...I don't want you to train today...you should sit out for today," Kurenai responded quickly. Kiba smelled Hinata's face. Hinata blushed slightly, her cheeks resuming a healthy pale tone.
"I smell something...," Kiba thought aloud. He smelled Hinata again. Akamaru whined behind him. Kurenai and Shino both looked at Kiba. "Did...you go see Naruto today?" Hinata's eyes widened momentarily, then she sunk back down, eyes opened only halfway. She nodded. Kiba now knew what he was smelling. Seeing as he could smell like dogs, emotions taking on specified scents. "You're depressed!" He announced it loudly, rather obnoxiously.
"I'm fine," Hinata's muffled voice came from beneath her jacket, where she was sinking in. She wanted to pull the hood over her head and dissappear. Tears finally formed in her eyes. She was distressed at this and blinked them away. She couldn't cry. Not now.
"Hinata," Shino's concerned yet still monotone rang from the side. She turned to face him, her head still tucked in her jacket. "Tell us...exactly what happened." Hinata thought a moment. It was too painful...but she had to tell them...
"H-he...I...," Hinata stuttered, pulling her head out of it's snuggly little cubby. "I was...going to tell him...my feelings...and I got to his h-house...knocked on his door..." Hinata paused, biting her lip, biting back tears. Kiba was twitching impatiently. "And...he...he came out...in his boxers...with Sakura...in her...underwear..." Kurenai, Kiba, and Shino's eyes all went wide. Shino's eyes weren't visible, but by his eyebrow movements, Hinata could tell his eyes were wide. She bit down on her lip harder, making it bleed. Blood trickled down her chin and onto the white part of her jacket. Nobody knew what to say.
"H-Hinata...," Shino choked out. Kiba stared, wide-eyed and jaw dropped.
"WHAT?!," Kiba cried out. Hinata winced slightly at Kiba's yelling. She felt like they were closing in on her...she couldn't breathe....
"Gommen!," Hinata cried out suddenly. She stood up and ran between Kiba and Kurenai. She ran as fast as her heavy legs could carry her. Kiba stood up, about to follow her. Kurenai stood up and caught him. She shook her head.
"We need to let her be for a while," Kurenai responded. "Then, I'll send both you and Shino after her, alright?....Oh, and let Shino do the talking...she needs someone comforting and level-headed...not someone who will blow things out of porprortion." A sweatdrop fell from Kiba's brow. He nodded, biting his tongue on this one. Shino just sat there, staring after Hinata.
Hinata finally dropped to her knees, panting. Tears finally forced their way out as she choked on her sobs. She dropped onto the ground, letting herself cry for what felt like forever...when she finally looked up to see where she was, her breath was taken away. It was...like paradise. She had ran to a beautiful meadow-like area... it was a large clearing in the forest...but it was beautiful nonetheless. Green grass and multitudes of different flowers dotted and gathered here and there. In the very middle of this beautiful area...a large cherry blossom tree with a thick base. She hadn't seen one like this before...it was...so beautiful...all together. Hinata managed to wipe her tears away...even though they insisted on continuing to flow...and she picked herself up and sat against the beautiful tree. She let out a heavy sigh. This place comforted her...and she didn't know why...She felt herself calm down and relax as she sat against the tree. Words formed in her mind. Curiously, she began to sing, letting the words slip carefully from her tongue and roll easily from her lips.
"Couldn't sleep, so I went out walking
Thinking about you and hearing us talking" Tears formed in her eyes.
"All the things I should have said
Echo now inside my head" Hinata looked up and raindrops fell from a cloudy sky.
"I feel somethin' fallin' from the sky
I'm so sad I made the angels cry" She couldn't think of more before she burst into tears again.
Shino happened by with Kiba only moments before when she rest quietly against the tree trunk. They exchanged worried and awed glances at one another. Or at least Kiba did, Shino's eyebrows merely furrowed. They had conned Kurenai into going after Hinata to cheer her up. Both were astounded to hear her singing. Never before had they heard her sing...and she sang beautifully. Her voice had mesmerized the two...until she broke down into tears. Kiba and Shino didn't come out of hiding...though they wanted to...they just kept an eye on her. The rain just made things a little harder. Hinata looked up, her tears being washed away by the rain and mixed in. She stood, with help from the tree, and walked from beneath the tree, looking at the blackened sky she hadn't noticed beforehand. Usually, she would've seen...but she was too happy at first...and then...completely broken all over again. Lightning flashed against the puffy black clouds, thunder sounding after. She just stood there, marvelling at the storm, crying, and thinking. That was all she could do.
