Chapter 9
Naruto heard the gently murmured question against his ear and nearly face planted. His heart tripped over itself and he slowed down to a stop. He carefully let Hinata down, turning, he grabbed her tiny hands in his own. She looked like a nymph in the early morning light, her soft skin was glowing and the lashes on her downcast eyes sent playful shadows along her cheekbones. The oversized jacket he’d lent her for warmth hung around her small frame adorably, reminding him of how truly fragile she was.
“Do you… want to be with me?” The words were so quietly uttered there were almost a whisper. His heart hammered against his ribs, loudly pulsing in his ears. He'd never been this nervous. The moment last an eternity, the waiting slowly killing him.
Hinata was in momentary shock, she couldn’t believe, first of all, that she had even asked that question, and second that this moment was taking place in real time. She looked up at him nervously, chewing her lower lip to calm herself. She took in a deep breath and let it out. Damn straight she wanted this! She let go of his hands, acutely aware of his sullen look at her actions, that was until she gently cupped his face, locking her purple gaze with his.
“Yes, I do.”
Those three little words had a huge grin breaking out over Naruto’s handsome face, he absently settled his hands on her hips. Apprehension gripped him, however, and his face contorted in concern. “Are you sure?” His blue eyes dancing with a rush of emotions.
She smiled shyly, nodding her head. “I’m sure.” And the next thing she knew Hinata was being thrown up into the air, Naruto’s large hands spanning the length of her tiny waist, she let out a tinkling laugh that matched his in happiness. Naruto’s jubilation was a hard thing to ignore. She wrapped her hands around his neck as he lowered her, her feet never graced the floor, however. Her lips boldly finding his.
Naruto hugged her to him, releasing her mouth and tucking his face against her neck, he breathed her in, reluctant to let go. He was experiencing so many emotions, happiness coursing through him. He didn't want to put her down, he wanted to tuck her against him and never let her leave. He left tiny kisses along her temple, smiling against her soft cheek.
The light that was slowly becoming brighter had them breaking away. It was getting late, or early, and she really did need to go home.
They took their time however. Holding hands and shyly glancing at each other. An embarrassed, and incredibly goofy smile crossing Naruto's face every time.
Hinata was still in a a dream-state. She'd fantasized about this moment for years, privately wishing for it to come true. Now that it was she didn't know how to react, her heart was out of control. She gripped Naruto's hand tighter and moved closer to him, enjoying the feel of having him next to her. She sighed and hesitantly laid her head on his upper arm, she was to short to rest it on his shoulder.
Naruto walked her to the front gates of the estate. A large, ancient wooden door stood before him. It’s imposing form suddenly making him realize that knew nothing of her family, and held no social standing of his own. She came from a wealthy family with high notability. Her father led one of the most notoriously powerful families in all of Konoha village. Would her family even accept him? He lived in a small apartment and had what he made from his missions. Doubt weighed done on him heavily, a sadness seeping into him.
Hinata noticed Naruto’s sudden withdrawal as he starred up at her family’s gates. She rested a small hand on his shoulder to catch his attention, “Naruto-kun, what is it?”
He knew know that he couldn’t just leave her, not because of her surname. He’d make her family accept him, approve of him, he’d do whatever he could do to win them over. He wanted to do right by Hinata, give her everything she wanted.
“Nothing, Hinata.” He pulled her to him and wrapped his arms around her, placing a kiss on the crown of her head. “It’s time for you to go inside.”
She didn’t want to leave him though. She wanted to stay right where she was in his arms. She sighed, resigning herself to the inevitable. She'd have to go back to her family estate. As much as she hated the compound. She reluctantly stepped back, moving to take off his jacket.
He stopped her, resting a gentle hand on her shoulder. “Take it. Bring it back to me another day.”
He was giving her an excuse to see him, she smiled prettily at him and tucked herself into it. He chuckled at the cute display and placed a warm kiss on her mouth. “I’ll see you around?” She asked hesitantly. Her perfectly sculpted brows knitting over her concerned eyes.
He grinned wolfishly at her, tapping her nose. “You will.”

The trees blended together as the ninja rushed through the forests at dizzying speeds. He had a mission of his own to fulfill.
The kid needed to know, needed to understand, needed to play right into his little trap. A wicked smirk slashed a cruel line along the man’s face.
To his surprise he’d killed the stupid Snake, though not without incident, the small piece of the clingy bastard remained inside Sasuke.
He’d been following the kid, observing his movements from a vast distance. He’d watched as he’d gathered other outcasts, a rather powerful, if cocky and inexperienced bunch. The man knew where the boy was headed, and couldn’t wait to see the battle.

Naruto woke in the early afternoon to a knock at his door, he excitedly jumped up and ran towards it, hopeful it was Hinata.
He was disappointed to see it was in fact not her, a pink haired pixie stood there instead.
Sakura watched Naruto’s face go from bright and happy to scowling and irate. She ‘hump’-ed, “Good morning to you too, sunshine.” Sakura gave the boy a once over, his constantly messed hair was an even worse state, his bare chest rippled as he moved away from the door, his black pajama pants hung low over his chiseled hips. She had to admit, Naruto was a fine piece of ass, she just couldn’t look at him in any other way than her best friend, though.
“What is it, Sakura-chan?”
“Oh, I just wanted to invite you to some Ramen for lunch. Sai’s meeting us there shortly and I thought you’d like something to eat. Some other people are bound to be at Hashi’s.”
Hashi’s is where everyone went to enjoy the best Ramen in town, and a few spirits as well, it was a local hangout exclusive to ninja and their guests, where everyone knew your name. Most of the kids from the Academy went there frequently.
“I’m game. Let me get some fresh cloths on.” He walked through the small space and into the bedroom. Naruto’s place was small, and oddly tidy for the messy ninja. There was a single plain black couch, a small coffee table used for eating, and a large TV and console in front of it. A single standing lamp was the only fixture that provided any lighting, besides the three windows, covered in black drapes. She sighed, the kid needed some work…
Naruto was charging back into the living room in two minutes flat, Sakura envied his ability to do that, girls really had to work at it, boys just threw something on and were out the door. She rolled her eyes and turned to leave with him.
A couple minutes later they were entering the small homey restaurant.
Naruto's eyes scanned the place for any familiar faces.
He spotted her then, sitting at a large six person booth, a lovely little smile on her lips as she met his gaze.
Hinata knew instantly that some one was looking at her. Ignoring Kiba’s comment completely, she turned and tried to figure out who was staring at her. A blush colored her cheeks, adding a bit of color to her face, brightening her eyes. It was Naruto.
He made a beeline towards her, Sakura following him awkwardly. He took a seat next to her without a word, Sakura following suit.
Everyone was looking at the both of them suspiciously. Something was totally up.
Kiba and Shino looked over to Sakura expectantly, Sakura lifted her shoulders and shook her head in confusion.
Then Naruto leaned over and planted a sweet little kiss on Hinata cheek, giving her a private smile. “Hey.” He said gently, his big, beautiful eyes dancing merrily.
She looked up at him, her amethyst eyes glowing tender warmth, the smile never left her face. “Hi.” Kami, he was adorable. His hair was still messy and he looked like he'd just rolled out of bed. She tilted her head back as she stared into his eyes, ready for another kiss.
Now, that little spectacle shot more than one pair of eyebrows into the air. Even the stoic Shino had a look of surprise on his face.
“Okay, what the hell's up?” Kiba asked loudly, and rudely. He was leaning forward, a balled fist on the table, his brows drawn low in suspicion.
Naruto placed a hand on the back of his head, the other reaching for Hinata‘s hand, a sheepish smile graced the boy‘s face. “Hinata’s my girl now.”
“What?!”
Hinata subconsciously scooted closer as all three friends raised their voices simultaneously, hers and Naruto’s thighs grazing each others. She laid her unused hand on his thigh, enjoying the intimate contact. She just couldn't keep her hands off of him, now that he was hers.
“When did this happen?” Sakura asked, seeing as she was the first to recover. The question was directed at Hinata. She knew how much the girl had liked bone-head here, in fact everyone but Naruto did.
Hinata turned her smile, turned grin, on Sakura. “This morning.” And what an amazing morning it had been.
Sakura reached over Naruto, “High five, girl!”
Shino recovered gracefully, Kiba however, seemed frozen with his jaw unhinged. Sai walked in and quietly took his place next to a stunned Kiba. He greeted everyone, but Kiba, and then settled into a quiet conversation after the food was ordered.
