"I have a bad feeling he says", Haru mocked standing to my right now with Kanaru over his shoulder. "Preliminaries how lame. Its probably just becuase you had to open that troublesome mouth of yours Rennik. Get some rest. HAH! There goes that plan. From the fires of earth to the pits of hell." The instructions were clear and the reasons for the exams were also clear. Nothing I hadn't know already. My father did leave me the massive library and I take full advantage of it. I had read this in one of the books along with the knowledge of preliminaries. From the people we fought I had figured there would be a large turn out even after the exam. Even team seven made it in fairly decent shape though the Uchiha was groping his shoulder.

Now it was time to see who opted out. Kabuto left. Heh pussy. I looked at Kanaru who was still unconcious. I raised my hand "Sir Kanaru Tamaki will be unable to fight in these preliminaries."

"Very well" The sickly curator managed between hacking up lungs ,"He will be escorted to a medical facility." I had missed the commotion between Sakura and Sasuke regrettably. We dispersed to our designated positions along the wall on the second level. first two combatants were Sasuke and one of Kabuto's freaks. I took not that throughout the fight Sasuke's shoulder had and emblem that seemed to grow as the fight went on. I took it as a power mark at first. Then after noticing the pain he suffered from it I had come to the conclusion it was a curse and power mark of sorts. "Interesting". "What was that Rennik?". " Wow I just said that? Umm this fight interesting." I turned my attention to the book in my pocket which I was close to the ending noticing a very interesting jutsu. I took heavy interest in it and continued reading until Sasuke's fight was over. He managed to survive somehow so I returned my attention to my book tuning out the world. I was snapped out of it as quickly as I was enveloped in it.

"Rennik are you sure your able to fight?" the curator questioned.

Why was he asking me this anyway. I glanced at the view screen. Nice..... Haru vs. Rennik. "Umm wow my bad yes I can fight." this drew laughs from around the room. We had to be the second fight. Its just my luck. and not only that it was against my own team member who was standing in the middle of the room laughing at me hysterically. I hopped over the rail and cooly landed a few meters across from Haru.

I hope he does okay Ino found herself thinking as the curator explained the rules to the two combatants. The fight began and the one known as Haru was launching sabage barrages of Tai-Jutsu that had Rennik in a full retreat from the fury. Her heart stopped everytime a blow connected with the young medical ninja. He possesed good Tai-Jutsu but it was nothing compared to that of the Tamaki. Why is she thinking like this Rennik is very capable and probably has a trick or two up his sleeve. Wait no Ino woah woah woah. You don't even know the man. So what he saved your life a few times nothing to get all fluttery about. Besides Sasuke just got carried off by Kakashi and I didn't even flinch. Grrr this is helping yourself at all Ino. Haru had now pulled out two kunai and Rennik was helpless to stop it. He had lost his weapons pouch in the forest somewhere and had no way of blocking the attacks. He desperately tried to dodge but was having trouble. He was often caught and slashed up pretty good. "COME ON RENNIK YOU CAN DO THIS!" She found herself screaming across the room. It seemed to invigorate him as a smirk grew across his face before he was pummeled a few feet into the ground by a very heavy kick that knocked Rennik out of the air. Everyone grew silent. Haru stood in the center of the ring. He was breathing very heavily. He crossed his arms.

"Piece of cake", he said turning towards the curator. the curators had began to raise as a piece of rubble flew out of the hole. "Jeez Rennik. Just give up will ya? Your covered from head to toe in blood and you haven't managed a single blow." the tamaki chuckled.

"DON'T LISTEN TO HIM RENNIK. YOU CAN BEAT HIM!", Ino was getting very emotional though she could not figure out why. Rennik was indeed covered in head to toe in blood barely standing and breathing hard.

"No Haru you underestimated me and flew into the fight head strong just as I predicted." At this point a very sinister smile had grown across Rennik's face which had startled all of the onlookers. "See Haru its all been a charade. I'm not that exhausted. Nor am I that hurt." Rennik stood to his full height his breathing normaled out and he laughed. "I did have to look it though so you would finish yourself off from your own exhaustion. You my friend are the one who can hardly stand an I must implore to give up before you regret not giving up."

"Ya like that'll happen. You know me too well Rennik. I won't give up that easily."

"Very well than. Suit youself", Rennik said while performing a hand sign. His eyes began glowing a bright blue as the entire room began to chill. Soon Renniks whole body was glowing to the point everyone looked away from him becuase he was getting so excessively bright. When they all finally looked back everyone gasped. Rennik had not a scratch on his body. An evil laugh escaped his lips as he dissapeared only to appear behind Haru.

"I KNEW YOU COULD DO IT RENNIK!" Ino cheered her heart dancing with joy. She didn't care anymore. Whatever this feeling was she liked it. It was similar to that of how she felt with Sasuke but it had a destinctly different feeling at the same time. What happened next was brutal. Rennik launched a powerful kick knocking his friend high into the air. Once there he continued slamming into his ally. touching down on walls for split seconds before becoming a blur again and slamming into his friend again before he could even touch the ground. This continued for several minutes before the Tamaki rebounded himself and stood firm against the next attack. Soon enough the two friends stood toe to toe and their arms and legs became blurs as they unleashed everything they had on eachother. It soon ended with rannik on top of Haru with Haru's own two kunai crisscrossed across his own neck.

"Do you yield now Haru?."

"Umm wow ya. I do" Haru finally said climbing to his feet with the help of Rennik.

"Rennik wins!" the curator announced soon after coughing up his heart.

The two friends embraced eachother. Then backed off. "Nicely done Rennik. Very nicely done. I had been routing for you the whole time. But still I never expected this. I really hope you win in the final exam. I don't care about wherever your family is that you dodge the subject of but you are always a brother of the Tamakis." He said with a chuckle at the end before nearly collapsing as Rennik administered a small medical treatment and helped his newly found brother to the second floor of the preliminaries room. Ino sat down. The strain had become quite bad during the middle of that fight. She was relieved however that Rennik had won.

"COME ON INO! DON'T GIVE IN. YOU CAN DO THIS!" Rennik was openly cheering for his sweetheart. He felt terrible. His love was getting pummeled and there was nothing he could do least he get them all in trouble. The battle ended shortly after and his Ino had lost. But at least she took the pink one with her. She still looked so beautiful even with her cut hair. It didn't phase her beauty at all. I was the first on the scene administering a large does of chakra into Ino's body fixing everything that could possibly be wrong.

"Rennik" Ino manage. "Thanks you. Can you help Sakura too please?"

"Sure thing just rest a little. You'll be fine." I healed Sakura up and helped the two exhausted kunoichi to the second floor. The two had a touching moment but were soon back to bickering before they returned to their teams. I sat down next to Ino and brushed the hair from her face. "Ino-chan? Do you feel alright."

"Yes" she sighed before resting her head against me and falling asleep on my shoulder. I would've done a thousand backflips but that would've interrupted her rest. I finished my book looking up in time to catch the last of the fight between Hinata and Neji Hyuuga. the final barrage from Neji landed and from the way Hinata fell to the floor I knew the damage. As much as I didn't want to wake Ino-chan I quickly scrambled to my feet and began checking the wounds on Hinata. "Jesus Hinata why'd you push yourself so hard." Naruto walked up behind me with a look of pissed that sent a chill down my spine. The kid could fight. Extremely well at that too.

"Hey Rennik how bad is it." he managed in a solemn tone only to get blocked off by a few medic-nins who were about to check her.

"We need to open up blood flow from the heart again. She has extensive bleeding in her lungs. Six borken ribs. A fractured femur and no chakra flow." I stated loud enough for everyone on the ground floor to hear. "I've mended he forearm and spinal tissue but we need to operate quickly and flush the blood from her lungs before she drowns in it." All the proffessional med-nins surroung me look at me stunned. "WHAT PART OF QUICKLY DID YOU NOT PICK UP ON." I yelled picking Hinata up and rushing off to the infirmiry. Followed closely by the med-nins. Naruto entered his rage and though I wanted to stay to watch him kick Neji's ass I couldn't though later I heard that the fight never happened. The fucking prick had no idea how close he came to destroying her life. The surgery went smoothly with me there though the med-nins were pissed I was taking all their thunder away. She would make it but would be coughing up blood for a few weeks.

Ino woke up at the end of the preliminaries to find that Rennik was no where in sight. She had hoped to talk to me after and maybe get some training from me because quite frankly. Her Tai-Jutsu sucks. She called for him as everyone began dispersing when she Naruto came up. "Hey Ino. He is at the infirmiry with Hinata, Rock Lee, and Sasuke. They all got injured pretty bad so he decided to help in their healing." Naruto explained. "Hes probably cussing out the other medics too heh. I hope bushy brows ok." Ino having no idea what happened decided against herself. Why would he want to help me even more? He saves my life and I expect this from him. I'm so selfish. Naruto had already taken off to go beg Iruka to buy him some ramen.

Later that week she had caught Sakura buying flowers. Sakura explained why and Ino decided it was a good idea so she tagged along. It was only when the couple were outside the hospital that she realized Rennik might be helping around inside. Half of her hoped he was while the other half was terrified that he was. She followed Sakura to Lee's room and gave him their flowers than proceded on to Sasuke's. They were about to open the door when it flung open and they saw Rennik standing there surprised.

"Hey Sakura and Ino-chan. What brings you here today?" He said casually before noticing their flowers. "Oh Sasuke right on you go then" He said stepping out of the way. Before he could continue Sakura stopped him.

"How are Sasuke, Lee and, Hinata doing?".. "Oh them well Hinata is up and about. She still has blood in her lungs but once she clears that out she'll be fine. It would really help her if you could talk to her and stuff that girls do. Lee has extensive damage on his leg and it is unlikely he'll be able to use it for much anymore but the kids got spirit and thats all that matters sometimes. Sasuke is a strange case. See he has a mark on his neck that seems to have done all the damage but he should recover in a few days. It was sealed recently by Kakashi I suppose as he brought Sasuke in a few days ago."

"Thank you Rennik for helping them", Sakura solemnly replied before sitting next to Sasuke and putting his flower in the window. Ino also put her flower there. She saw tears in Sakura's eyes. "Sakura I'm going to go ok let me know if you needs anything" Ino said rubbing Sakuras back a little before bumping back into Rennik leaving Rock Lee's room.

"Ino" Rennik called after her. I turned to meet his gaze. "Look this will be the last time I'm in town for quite a while so if you need me for anything I'll be at my house. It just out of town along the south wall" He said pointing over yonder.

"Thank you. I'll keep that in mind", She said before returning to manage the flower shop. She worked extra hard that day to keep her mind from looking for reasons to show up at his house. She was quite exhausted when she returned to her home expecting to smell some cooking. Her parents had been depressed recently and she didn't know what was wrong with them. Tonight was a bad night for Ino though. She entered her house and heard her mom sobbing in the living room clinging to her husband as if it was the end of the world. "Mom whats wrong?" she hesitantly spoke.

"I'm so sorry Ino.", was all she could make out of the crying. Ino looked at her dad for an answer. "Sweety come sit down over here." This was never good. This always meant something bad. Everytime this happened something really bad had occured earlier. Things like a relative dieing or a pet. "Ino. You have to be strong for us. We... We're...." Her dad began crying too. She never saw him cry before. "We lost the house" He managed at last. "We have to move to a smaller village. We found a house on the edge of the land of fire a while ago and we can make a decent living there." This wasn't happening. Her entire life was being destroyed. Everything she had done her entire life was crumbling around her.

"Dad" Ino managed after sometime tears now streaming down her face. "I can't leave this all behind. I want to be a great Kunoichi and I have so many friends and and..." She couldn't say anymore through her crying.

Her father had regained his composure. "We thought about it sweety and we decided if you can find somewhere to stay then it would be fine if you stayed here. We can't though. We're so sorry we didn't say anything earlier. Its been happening for the past year." Her mom's crying had only increased throughout the whole talk. "We could come visit you every other year and you could visit us if your mission takes you out that far. I really don't want you to give up on your dreams you've come so far."

"I'll find a place dad and I will visit you every year I swear." she assured him not beliving what she said tears flooding like the Nile from her eyes. She was hoping it was a bad dream but she saw all the luggage in the corner of the room. she grabbed the phone and made a few calls. First Sakura who started crying with Ino when Sakura told her they just didn't have the room nor the money to help her. Next her sensei Asuma who didn't reply for a while but also couldn't help her. Shikamaru, Chouji, Hinata. No one had room. She lied to her parents saying she could stay at Sakura's house. Her parents hugged and kissed her for a good ten minutes all telling eachother it would be ok as her parents left. She followed soon after and walked to the flower shop. She asked the owner if she could sleep there. The owner fired her saying homeless kids can't work in stores. She found a nice alley and just collapsed there letting more tears than she could imagine pour from her sweet celurean eyes. As if the heavens themselves shunned her it began to pour rain. She then saw one of her roses on the ground. She immidiately remember what Rennik had told her earlier. "He's my only chance now", she muttered to herself slowly beggining the long walk to his house.
