Chapter Six

The vow to defeat Kankuro!

Suki's avengement!

 

“You bastard! I'll kill you!!” I yelled out at him, but Tokeru held me back.

“Kitsune, pull yourself together! The only way to beat him is to wait for the main matches.”

I growled and watched as the doctors picked Suki up on a stretcher.

“I swear... I will defeat Kankuro. Even if he forfeits, I'll make him fight me!!”

I then waited with Naruto and Tokeru until the screen began to choose names again. This time, it was Sakura Haruno and Ino Yamanaka. They came to see me first. Sakura gave me a slight hug, and Ino kissed my cheek. I think I saw her growling at Ino for that, but I ignored it.

They went to the middle of the arena, and I heard them call each other names before they both put their head protectors on the forehead. Sakura used a Clone Jutsu to attack Ino.

Then she did something I would never expect her to do. She grabbed her long ponytail and cut it, flinging the hair out in front of her at Sakura. Sakura tried to move in and attack her, but was stopped by Chakra ropes that Ino had cast. She then performed her Mind Transfer Jutsu to get into Sakura's body where she would try to make Sakura forfeit. Naruto yelled out at Sakura that she had come too far to lose to Ino now. This helped Sakura to cast Ino out of her body. In one final punching blow, they were both knocked out and eliminated.

Next was Tenten and Temari's match. They went to the middle, and waited a while for the other to attack. Finally, Tenten attacked first, throwing senbon, but this was parried by Temari's fan. She then tried a scroll that threw down numerous tools down at her, and again her fan parried them. This time, Tenten used two scrolls, and it was similar to the previous attack, yet this time the tools were attached to her by Chakra wire, and she pulled them back, but again her fan parried the attack. Now Temari attacked. She used her Wind Scythe Jutsu to finish Tenten off, and had her land hard on the end of her fan. Lee couldn't take this and went straight for Temari, catching Tenten and using his Leaf Hurricane attack on her, which was blocked by her fan. Gai-sensei stopped Lee and told him to wait. I added a mental note that she was also going to be taken out personally by me. No one did that to my new friends.

Next up were Shikamaru Nara and Kin. Kin began by throwing senbon at Shikamaru, who dodged them all until the bells on the senbon caused him to have hallucinations. But he cast his Shadow Possession Jutsu thank to the wires she was holding and was able to win by tricking Kin into knocking her head into the wall behind her.

“I never thought a guy who went around complaining about how everything is a drag could be such a genius...”

“Mm-hm.” confirmed Naruto.

The next combatants were Naruto Uzumaki and Kiba Inazuka. As the fight began, Kiba and Naruto began taunting each other. Naruto even protested the idea of a dog being a handicap. But Hayate allowed it, saying it was a tool in battle. Naruto is still confident, claiming Kiba cannot defeat him, and the match begins.

Kiba claimed he could finish the match in one blow, using Beast Mimicry. His body exuded an aura of blue Chakra as he became more beastlike, his nails growing sharper and his taijutsu skill increasing along with strength and speed. As Kiba elbowed Naruto in the chest, he was knocked back and was forced to lie for several seconds on the ground, inable to move. Everyone thought of this match as over, but I had faith in this young Genin. I knew his determination was greater than this.

Naruto was still able to move, and stood up, ready to continue the match, taunting Kiba into using his dog, Akamaru. Kiba used a smoke bomb to cloud Naruto's vision as he and Akamaru repeatedly attacked him. When the smoke cleared, Naruto was lying on the floor, and Akamaru rushed to Kiba... and bit him. Naruto had used the Transformation Jutsu to transform himself into Akamaru. The real Akamaru was with the Kage Bunshin (Shadow Replicate) that Naruto had left that was lying down amidst the clearing of the smoke cloud.

Kiba claimed he would get serious now, feeding food pills to both Akamaru and himself. This causes both Akamaru's and Kiba's Chakra to double, Akamaru turning red and his fangs growing longer. Kiba repeated his initial technique, Beast Mimicry, this time adding Half-beast Clone Jutsu, Akamaru transforming into a clone of Kiba.

They then performed the Four Legged Jutsu together, Naruto bouncing back to avoid the attack as they crashed into the ground. Naruto spent his time dodging, but without the boost of such items as a food pill, was inable to hold up such dodging for very long. He left an opening, being left vulnerable to Fang-over-Fang. Naruto landed on his head, on the concrete floor, yet refused to give up, blood dripping from his head and mouth, a pool of blood dripping onto the ground beneath his body. Kiba began laughing, taunting and testing Naruto's will to fight.

Naruto got up yet again, ready to fight, and stated, “If you're going to compete with me over the title of Hokage, you're going to be the Underdog.” Kiba continued with more Fang-over-fang attacks, always preceded by a smoke bomb. But once the smoke cleared, there were three Kiba clones. Claiming that his sense of smell had picked out Naruto, he punched him hard, causing him to be knocked backwards and transform back to himself. But instead of Naruto, Akamaru was lying in the smoke. Kiba saw this and struck the other clone, which was also Akamaru. Confused, Kiba stood there, open to an attack from Naruto, who, turning out to have turned into Akamaru after being hit, took the chances and struck a blow against him. Kiba slowly got up, performing Beast Mimicry to gain great speed and annihilate Naruto. He landed many blows until he attacked him from behind. That was when Naruto accidentally farted in his face. With his smell multiplied by seven times, I couldn't imagine how it must have smelled for Kiba. But Naruto took this opportunity to create Shadow clones, then have three of them kick him upwards and the original Naruto would perform an axe kick from above, slamming Kiba into the ground as he said, “Naruto Uzumaki Barrage!” Kiba was knocked out as he hit the ground, and Naruto won.

After that match, it was Hinata and Neji Hyuuga. Two Hyuugas, one of the branch family and one of the head family. Before the match began, Neji told Hinata to give up and run away while she still had the chance. Naruto yelled at Hinata not to listen to him, and Hinata gained confidence and was able to fight. Both were using their Byakugan accompanied with their Gentle Fist fighting style. Both were shutting off each other's Chakra points, until Neji struck Hinata in the chest, causing her to cough up blood.

Still, she continued to fight. She fought and fought with Neji, until she fell, and the match was declared over. I watched this and hated Neji for using fatal force, but then Hinata stood from the ground, saying that she would not go back on her word. This infuriated Neji, but the Jonin from the Leaf Village stopped him, and Hinata coughed up more blood, falling to the ground. Naruto leaped in, checking on Hinata, then picked up her fallen blood and swore on it that he would defeat Neji.

Rock Lee and Gaara soon followed. Lee looked pumped for this, but I was worried. Gaara's Sand shield would be hard to get through with only Taijutsu. As the match started, Lee began striking the shield, but it blocked his every attack and occasionally attacked him. He then leapt onto the monument, Gai-sensei telling him to `take off his weights'. They did not seem like much at first, but then, he dropped them, and the crash told us it was more than a few pounds. He then charged at Gaara, moving and striking with such speed that it was hard to follow him with my eyes.

At one point, He began kicking Gaara upwards, continuing until he winced in pain, then began wrapping Gaara in bandages and spinning him down to the ground. When Lee got up from Gaara, he was only a shell. But then, he got back up behind him, striking Lee with the sand again. Even though his muscles were torn he continued to dodge attacks, but failed most of the time. Lee, standing a way from Gaara, activated two of his gates, striking Gaara in the air multiple times.

Finally, it was up to Dosu and Tokeru. I looked to him and told him, “Do it for Suki.” He nodded, then walked down to the arena and waited in front of Dosu.

“Well, if you're both ready, then begin.” Hayate said before stepping back.

Tokeru just as soon jumped back and began yelling, “Gate of Opening, Open! Gate of Rest, Open! Gate of Life, Open! Gate of Pain, Open! Gate of Closing, Open! Gate of Joy, Open! Gate of Shock, Open!”

After having opened seven of the Eight Inner Gates, Dosu dodging his attack faster than the speed of sound and sent an axe kick at him right over his head, followed by a spiral side kick from the back and a straight punch from the front, and several more attack until he sent a flying knee into his stomach, which knocked him into a wall. Once he had done that, he reverted back to his normal self.

Hayate walked over to Dosu, checking on him, then stated, “Dosu is unconscious. Winner of the tenth match, Tokeru Hashimashida.”

After Dosu had been brought back to the infirmary, Hayate called us back to the arena. The Hokage told us that the chances of becoming Chunin depended on how we showcased our abilities, not by win or loss. The matches went as followed: Naruto VS Neji, Sasuke VS Gaara, Kankuro VS Me, Temari VS Shikamaru and Tokeru VS Shikamaru. I looked to Kankuro from the row were in. When our eyes crossed, I felt like he was taunting me, and that only added wood to the fiery rage that welled up inside of me. I don't care where I fight him, in or out of the tournament... he's going down.

We were told that the main matches began in a month, and that we should get prepared for then. Most left on their separate ways, except for the Sand team, who left together, and Tokeru and I, who left together as well so we could go get some Miso ramen before beginning our training.
