Chapter Seven

Harmony with the ocean

Water Fox Jutsu unleashed!

The ramen from Ichiraku's was very good. No wonder Naruto liked it so much. Also, Ayame, the woman from the shop was very pretty, and reminded me of Jen somewhat. I wondered how she was doing with the children. When Tokeru and I had had each five bowls of ramen, we asked Ayame for a split bill, and she gave us each a bill that equally split the cost of the ten bowls.

We went to the hot springs next, relaxing in the hot water. It had put a lot of strain on me to be able to pull off that Water Dragon Jutsu, and this certainly helped. I loved the feeling of the hot water on my sore muscles and the smell of the steam coming up from it.

“Kitsune.” Tokeru said to me.

“Hm?” I mumbled as I reopened my eyes and looked to my employee and friend. “What is it, Tokeru?”

“I want to know... How did you manage to pull off that Water Dragon Jutsu back there? With that much water, you shouldn't have been able to make more than a lizard.”

“Wha?” I wondered, and then laughed and smiled stupidly. “Yeah, I guess that is a mystery, huh?” I then turned my expression to serious again. “I think the Suisogan helped... I myself don't even know how it could have worked. But it did, and it's a good thing, because it was my only chance against Shino “Bug Boy” Aburame.”

“Don't give me that, you're a water ninja, you won that hands-down.”

“Yeah, I guess you're right.”

We both laughed together, enjoying the time we were spending. When we got out, we got a room to stay in during our time in Konoha, and rested there for the night.

The next morning, Tokeru and I went down to the forest to train. We focused basically on our jutsus. I myself stood on the lake, practicing the Suisogan. Once I had used up too much of my Chakra to continue, I went to the flower shop so I could get a flower for Suki. Along the way, I met Sakura.

“Hi.” I greeted her.

“Hey,” she replied.

“How have you been?”

“Okay, I guess. I'm just getting flowers for Sasuke.”

“That's great! I'm getting a flower for Suki.”

“That's so sweet of you...”

“What can I say? I care for my teammates... But we have to talk first.”

We stopped at a stone bench sitting on it together.

“I can tell from the blushes and the hugs and the way you talk and act around me... I think you have feelings for me, am I wrong?”

Sakura hesitated, then looked at the ground, replying, “I guess I do... It's not my fault, it's just that you're so handsome... You're as brave as Sasuke, and you're even stronger than he is... I just can't control it.”

“You're going to have to, Sakura... I have a wife.”

Immediately, I regretted my words. But they were out there, and he could not take them back.

“Sakura, I-” I began, but Sakura simply got up and ran away, sobbing. I watched leave, sitting on that bench for some time. Then, I got up and headed for Yamanaka flowers. I went inside, and Ino looked at me strangely.

“Sakura came by,” she told me. “She told me to tell you that she's sorry she ever tried to have feelings for you.”

I ignored her and simply took a daisy, paying for the daisy and left without a word.

Walking to the hospital. I checked with the nurse so I could go to see Suki. When I went in, she was there on the bed, looking helpless in all her bandages. “Relaxing in the spring, are we, Naruto?” I asked him jokingly.

Naruto had gotten back onto solid land after I had said this. “Shut up! I'll show you, believe it!” He concentrated his Chakra and tried again, failing once more.

I laughed then told him, “Here, this is how you do it:” I stepped onto the water's surface, standing there as I gave him tips on how to better focus his Chakra.

“Thanks, Kitsune!” Naruto told me. He then concentrated his Chakra into the soles of his feet and stepped onto the water, this time actually lasting more than five seconds this time. He lasted eight.

“Good luck with the training, Naruto!” I told him as I left the springs.

As I got back around to the lake, I thought about the Water Dragon Jutsu a while. It's rarely used because it takes a lot of Chakra, a lot of hand seals and a lot of water. But what if I changed it up a bit? It doesn't have to be dragon, does it?

I went onto the lake, beginning to perform hand seals similar to that of the Water Dragon Jutsu.

“O-ushi, Saru, Usagi, Nezumi, Ousa-buta, Tori, O-ushi, Uma, Tori, Tora, Inu, Tora, Hebi, O-ushi, O-hitsuji, Inu, Ousa-buta, O-hitsuji, O-ushi, Saru, Tori, Inu, O-ushi, Uma, O-hitsuji, Tora, Inu, Nezumi, O-ushi, Saru, Tori, Nezumi, Ousa-buta, Saru, Inu, Tori, O-ushi, Uma, O-hitsuji, Tora, Hebi, Nezumi, Saru, Usagi, Ousa-buta, Inu, O-ushi, Nezumi, O-ushi, Saru, Tori, Nezumi, Ousa-buta, Tori!”

At first, there was nothing, then something arose from the water. “Did I do it?” But I was let down, for out of the lake emerged a giant squirrel. I sighed, but then tried again, varying the hand signs. This time, I got a cross between a hare and a frog. I continued trying, making worse and worse abominations as I went on. Finally, I was at my last of Chakra, and tried for my final time.

“O-ushi, Inu, Usagi, Nezumi, Ousa-buta, Tori, O-ushi, Uma, Tori, Tora, Inu, Tora, Hebi, O-ushi, Hebi, Tori, Ousa-buta, O-hitsuji, O-ushi, Saru, Tori, Ryu, O-ushi, Uma, O-hitsuji, Tora, Hebi, Nezumi, O-ushi, Inu, Tori, Nezumi, Tora, Saru, Inu, Tori, O-ushi, Uma, O-hitsuji, Tora, Hebi, Nezumi, Saru, Usagi, Ousa-buta, Inu, O-ushi, Nezumi, O-ushi, Saru, Tori, Nezumi, Ousa-buta, Inu!!”

As I watched the water on the surface ripple, I thought, here comes another failure... But then, I saw what appeared to be pointed ear, suddenly, a beast jumped out of the lake, then landed on it in all its glory. It was a beautiful fox made entirely of water. Seeing this, I jumped for joy.

“I did it! I finally did it! Woo-hoo-hoo-hoo!!”

Getting back onto solid land, I felt like I could fall asleep on the spot. But I was able to make it to my sleeping bag, which was somewhere near the training area before losing consciousness.

“Kitsune, wake up! We must train!”

When I opened my eyes, Tokeru was there, and I jumped up and looked him straight in the eyes.

“Tokeru, come quick, I have a new technique to show you!”

“Er, Kitsune-”

“I made it myself, you'll “I really do think you should-”

“I mean, I had to try it time and time again but I finally-”

“Kitsune, pull up your pants!!”

I looked own, seeing that my pants were indeed down, and I pulled them up immediately. Of course I had been wearing underwear, but I had no intention of showing my new jutsu to my best friend and teammate tin such a way.

“Follow me.” I told him, then ran over to the lake and walked onto its surface, looking back to him.

“Prepare to be amazed.”

I closed my eyes, and then began to perform several hand seals in quick succession.

I then reopened my eyes, seeing the Water Fox prowl its way to the surface and then leap up into the air and land on the water.

“Water Style: Water Fox Jutsu!” I yelled out, smiling. I then turned to Tokeru, who was smiling.

“Impressive, Kitsune. Rarely do shinobi come up with their own jutsu, or their variation of an existing jutsu.”

“What can I say? I'm totally at harmony with the ocean!”

At that moment, I accidentally stopped concentrating Chakra into my feet and fell into the water causing Tokeru to laugh out loud.
