THIS LITTLE GAME

Chapter One

We rolled along the grass, before stopping, Christina hovering over me like a madwoman. I had both hands placed on either of her shoulders in attempts to push her off, while she had hers around my neck. Groaning, I kneed her in the gut, smirking triumphantly when she staggered off to the side with a gasp, clutching her stomach. I fell back onto the grass with another groan, closing my eyes to rest. Christina was panting heavily, and a soft `thump' beside me told me the girl had had enough. I could hear the students around us, talking and walking about. Strange, I thought, opening my eyes, the teachers usually get here and break us apart before we even get close to exhaustion. I blinked at the large tree above me, blinking a few more time before frowning. I live in Arizona, a desert for fucks sake, there is no way in hell that there could be a tree that big here. Even if there were, I think I would remember the fucking tree. I rolled my eyes, why the hell does it matter anyway, it's just a stupid tree.

I sighed, closing my eyes again. "I'm tired."

"Aww, poor baby. Next time think twice before you insult my Sasuke-kun." Christina snapped, I could almost feel the glare she sent my way. Stupid Christina.

"Himura!! Hanasaki!! What the heck do you girls think you're doing?!"

Himura? Hanasaki? I've never heard those names before; are they new? Must be, though they sure are weird na--

"GYAAH!!" was what came out of both our mouths when we were suddenly pulled up off the ground. I squeezed my eyes shut out of reflex, before opening them up to see… Iruka? No way!

The Chunnin seemed extremely petulant, scowling down at us. "I've told you two time and again not to pick fights with each other. Besides, it's almost time for the finals, you think you can try to keep away from each other until then. I'd like to see you both in one piece." `Iruka' sighed, putting us down on our feet. I wobbled; worn out from our previous fight, but never the less stared up at him in what probably seemed horror and awe. The man sighed again, turning to look at Christina. "Please, Yura. Stop picking fights with Riku." He said in an exasperated tone. Christina just looked up at him, bewildered. He then turned to me and frowned. "And you, stop provoking her." my jaw dropped. This could not be happening. Christina probably just knocked me out - though I hated to admit it, it was far more logical than this - and I'm just dreaming. That's it; this is all some weird dream. "I need to go," he said, breaking me from my thoughts. "Naruto's causing trouble again, and I need to get him before he does something too stupid. You two get back to class." Then, he was gone. Just like that. And if I hadn't been so obsessed about Naruto I would have screamed, running around yelling, `witch'.

Well… not really.

Glancing at Christina, I noticed how pale the already pale girl had gotten. Not only that, but the red-head looked different, yet the same. She still had her shoulder length dark red hair, the same light blue eyes. One of the biggest differences from how she had looked like only moments ago was the fact the she looked less real, almost… animated. Even that goddamn acne was gone. Her clothing was totally different, for where she once had a long red T-shirt, she had instead navy tank top over a net-shirt. She had some light gray Capri's, and a pair of those dark blue ninja sandals almost every one in Naruto wore. She also had some weird arm warmers, similar to the ones Sasuke wore. The older girl, finally realizing that someone was watching her, snapped out of her trance and turned to look at me.

"Um… wasn't that that one guy, Naruko's teacher or something?" she asked, frowning. I rolled my eyes and sighed.

"His name is Iruka, he's the academy teacher. And it's not Naruko, it's Naruto, get it right." I snapped. I just got her into Naruto not too long ago, but it still annoyed me that she sometimes - most times - got names wrong.

"Whatever, Einstein." Christina retorted. "Answer the stupid question."

"What question?" I asked, glancing down at my own attire. I wore simple, tight fitting black shirt under a dark gray sweater. Some black cargo shorts, and a pair of the dark blue ninja sandals. I noted, glancing back up at Christina before returning my gaze to my clothing, that we both had what looked to be a kunai pouch and a shuriken holster.

"Was that really Iruka?" she asked, sounding irked by the whole situation.

I shrugged, looking up at her. "It looked like him, but this is all probably a dream from one of our imaginations, so might as well go along with it." I stated bluntly, yawning. Christina looked at me with a knowing smile, shaking her head mockingly.

"You really should stop staying up so late, stupid." She said. I stuck out my tongue but said nothing to counter, yawning a second time. "Anyway, what should we do now. `Iruka' said we should get to class, and I don't know about you, but I don't exactly know where that is."

"Yeah…" I muttered absently, before a flash of pink and blonde hair disappearing around the corner caught my attention. I quirked a brow. Pink hair? Shaking my head I sighed, this is Naruto, and that was probably Sakura. Better not let Christina get too close to her, all hell might break loose. "Come on." I said, following the girls in a mild jog.

"Uh, hello? We don't know where we're going? What if we get lost?" Christina asked, coming up beside me. I skidded to a stop in front of a closed room, in which I could have sworn I saw Sakura go into just seconds ago, and turned to Christina beside me.

"It's a dream, relax. If you want to wake up so badly, go pinch yourself or something. I for one, want to know how this'll play out before I wake up." And with that, I slid the doors open and stepped inside. I wasn't too surprised to find all of the rookie nine sitting in their supposedly assigned seats, save for Sakura and Ino, who where huddled with several other girls around a single desk. "Hey, Chris," I whispered, nudging the girl beside me. "I think your boyfriend is sitting over there." I said, pointing towards the large female crowd. She squeaked, rushing over and pushing girls aside. Shaking my head, I went to find an empty seat, slumping down in a cool wooden bench somewhere near the back rows. The fact that I shouldn't have felt the cool, nor stiffness of the bench didn't even cross my mind. I was idly aware of the fact that I was sitting next to bug-boy Shino, and I crossed my arms over the desk, resting my head on them so I could see him. "What'd I miss?" I asked, not really expecting an answer from him. And of course, he didn't answer, although the boy beside him did.

"That moron Naruto ran off a little before class started. Iruka-sensei went after him." he stated, quite louder than necessary. It didn't take long for me to recognize him, the dog on his head being a dead give away. "Anyway," he continued. "I hear you and Yura got into another fight, you really must hate each other. That's the fourth time this week!"

Yura? He must mean Christina, that's what I heard Iruka call her as well. "She's my best friend," I responded, to his surprise. "We just get on each other's nerves."

The boy, Kiba, laughed along with Akamaru, and I could help but smile at seeing the little puppy laugh. He quieted down suddenly when Iruka entered the room, carrying a struggling bundle of orange. He dropped it on the ground rather harshly, a scowl firmly place on his tanned face. The bundle on the floor was Naruto, I could tell by just orange jumper thing he wears.

Naruto huffed, frowning and scrunching his face in a pout and turning his head in the direction of the class. Iruka seemed to almost growl as he pointed at Naruto accusingly. "Tomorrow all your classmates will pass the final exam and graduate from our ninja academy! But the last two times this day came around, you flunked every course you'd taken in the secret arts! So you chose now for your stupid tricks?! You moron!!" Iruka yelled. Damn, I thought, wincing, I didn't know this guy could be so loud.

"Sir yes sir." Naruto mumbled, barely loud enough for me to hear, although, I was all the way in the back. Iruka twitched, and this time I could have sworn he had growled, making me wonder whether Naruto was in fact the vessel for the demon fox.

"Today in class we'll be reviewing the arts of illusion and apparition!" Iruka shouted, his face red in anger, and I marveled at his self control. The class burst into moans and complaints, loud enough to give me an even bigger migraine. Iruka just ignored them, continuing on his rant. "All you have to do is… conjure up a form that looks like me!"

I blinked, standing up absently along with the rest of the class, making my way down to the forming line. I caught a small glance of Christina as many of the students rushed down from the rows, noting the similar look of disdain that had crossed her features, as well as my own. Only one word could sum up this whole situation.

"Shit."

I had no idea how to pull off a jutsu, and I knew a hell of a lot more from Naruto than Christina did, so I seriously doubt she did either. I knew the basics, but this was a dream, how the hell was I gonna pull it off now. I watched as student after student went up before Iruka and preformed the henge, until it was finally Naruto's turn. I frowned, ignoring my own dilemma, hearing the insults and remarks the other students sent Naruto. He just ignored them and made his way up to Iruka. He quickly did the hand seal, and I smirked, knowing what was to come.

"Henge!!" he shouted, suddenly engulfed in a cloud of jutsu smoke. As it cleared, I couldn't help but snicker when I saw Naruto's Sexy no Jutsu form. Iruka gawked a few long minutes before literally falling to the ground from his major nose bleed. Naruto laughed at him, transforming back into his original form. "I call this one the Ninja Centerfold!" In three seconds flat, the Chunnin was back up, glaring daggers at the young blonde. The glare lost its initial effect on account of the teacher having two wads of tissue stuffed up his nose to stop the blood.

"HOW BIG A FOOL ARE YOU?! You waste all of your time and talent inventing these stupid tricks!!" he roared. Naruto pouted, walking back to his row and taking a seat. Iruka sighed, shaking his head in resignation. "Alright, next up is Hanasaki Riku."

I frowned, I never heard that name in the anime. Oh well, probably some unimportant background character. After a few minutes passed and no one seemed to be stepping up, I began to get annoyed, not to mention the fact that everyone was staring at me!

"What?" I muttered insipidly, narrowing my eyes.

Kiba smirked. "You're up girly , Iruka-sense just called your name." Girly? Did he just call me girly?! Before I could get to him though, Iruka interrupted.

"Hanasaki Riku, you're next. Quit daydreaming and get over here." Iruka said, tapping his sandal clad foot expectedly. I sighed, walking over to him slowly. I guess in this dream, my name is Hanasaki Riku, I thought, forming the correct hand seal. I just knew I was gonna make an even bigger fool than Naruto, at least he had an idea of what he was doing.

"Henge." I muttered, closing my eyes and preparing for my utter humiliation.

"Well done. Himura Yura, you're up." Iruka stated, scribbling something on his clipboard. I blinked. Well done? I actually did it? I looked down at myself, eyes widening. I was Iruka! I had actually done it! I could feel some weird energy flowing through me, and I noticed I had unconsciously concentrated my chakra. I didn't even know I had chakra! I dropped my hands to my sides, and concentrated on not concentrating, and by some miracle, I actually returned to my normal form. I heard Christina begin to argue with some students as I made my way to my row, sitting down beside Shino. She seemed extremely nervous, although she hid it well. But I had known her long enough to tell.

"Henge!!" she shouted, much to my own surprise. I had half expected her to say something like `Henke' or `Entei'. What surprised me even more was to find she had in fact transformed into Iruka, although a few red chunks of hair here and there could be seen. That had probably happened to me as well, though my hair was a dark brown and probably harder to notice.

"Good enough." Iruka said as Christina transformed back into herself, glancing at me with a satisfied smirk, before making her way to her row. It was then I noticed the little harpy had actually managed to snag a seat next to Sasuke. I smirked, shaking my head at her. "Since Hanasaki and Himura decided to take so long, we're out of time. Class is dismissed." Iruka stated, putting away his clipboard and pulling out the two now blood-soaked tissues, and hurling them towards the nearest trash bin.

I didn't even have time to get up before a rush of wannabe ninja's charged towards the door. With a sigh, I leaned back, resting my back and elbows on the desk behind me, watching the stream of students go by, even Shino had left before me. Shikamaru, the ever so lazy boy, was only just now getting up to walk towards the door. I got up slowly, Christina following suit, and made my way towards the door, stopping to wait for the red-head.

We hurried out the door, walking down the empty hall. "You know, this dream is getting interesting." She said, smiling.

I rolled my eyes. "Don't get too excited, Yura." I mumbled.

"Shut up, Riku." She retorted. We broke into a laugh, walking down the hall and exiting some random door and stepping outside.

"Hey," I started, stopping before a swing. The same swing Naruto had sat on the day of the graduation test. I sat down, kicking of lightly. "What if this isn't a dream?"

"Oh, come off it! Of course this is a dream!" she scoffed, stepping closer to me. "Scoot over."

I glanced up at her, raising a brow. "What? No!"

Christina frowned. "Scoot over right now, Riku-chan, or I'll sit on you!" I groaned, swinging a leg over to the other side of the swing so that both legs were dangling on either side while I held onto the rope that held the thing up. It tilted slightly due to my weight, but righted itself once again when Christina sat on the other end, our backs to each other.

"This doesn't seem like a dream. It's all too real." I mumbled, continuing our previous conversation.

"What makes you so sure?" Christina asked, kicking back slightly so the swing would sway back and forth.

"For one thing," I began, kicking back a little to make it go somewhat faster. "People in dreams never really know they're dreaming until they wake up. Secondly," I let go of the rope with one hand, twisting it so that I could reach Christina behind me and pinched her upper arm.

"OW! Bitch, what the fuck was that for?!" she shouted, slamming her elbow into my side.

I winced. "If this was a dream, you wouldn't have felt that, dumbass!" I snapped. Christina shut up after that, though I didn't really know what she was doing, seeing as though my back was turned to hers.

"So, this isn't a dream?" she asked, her voice a shaky whisper.

I nodded, then, realizing she couldn't see me, mumbled a, "Yeah." I frowned, feeling her shiver beside me. "Hey, you're not gonna cry, are you?"

"Are you kidding me?!" she exclaimed, jumping up from the swing, causing me to fall off. Gotta love that cause and effect shit, don't ya?

"The hell?" I picked my self up off the ground, scowling at her.

"This is so cool!" she cried, jumping up and down hyperactively.

"It is?" asked slowly, cocking my head to the side.

"Yeah! Sure, I'll miss my mom, but this is so much better! Besides, you know a shit load of Naruto crap, so we won't look like a couple of idiots! This is so awesome!!" she shouted, dancing around in circles. "We have to celebrate!"

"We do?" I asked, watching her wearily. I think she might be loosing it; I've always had worried about her sanity.

She stopped, beaming at me elatedly. "Yup!! I'm hungry! Let's get something to eat! Do you have any money?"

"Uh…" was all I could manage as I watched her yank my wallet from my back pocket and go through it like a greedy little brat.

"Holy shit! Eighty dollars! You're rich!" she shouted, pulling out my money.

"Not really. Money don't burn my pockets like it does you." I drawled, shrugging.

"Yeah, whatever. Let's go eat!" she yelled, handing me my wallet. I sighed, nodding slowly before I was pulled rather harshly down the busy streets of Konoha.

Me: I hope you guys liked it. I'm having fun writing it. If you guys see anything wrong, feel free to criticize. Flame me all you want, I enjoy reading them. Some people come up with the craziest things! Oh and, if you're wondering who Christina is, she's an actual real life friend *gasp*. She asked me to put her in my story, everything I write in here about her is true. Besides which, the witch is a hell of a lot crazier than me. Compared to her, I'm like Hinata. About the names, I have no idea where Himura came from, but the name Yura is from Christina's favorite anime, Inu Yasha, she's one of the first demons Kogome fights. Hanasaki is from my favorite Japanese singer, Hanasaki Ayumi. The Riku is from one of my favorite anime's, D N Angel. But it's just the name I like, not the actual character. I think she's a bitch.
