Under the Underneath
Chapter Six: Memories Part 2
Naruto and Sasuke approached the fifth's desk.
“I am sure you know why I have sent for you.” Tsunade inquired.
“Yes, it's about Akatsuki.” Sasuke answered her. Naruto looked dumbfounded at both of them.
“Huh?”
“I want the two of you to go to their base. Itachi's Cull cleaned out all of the weak Members but just because their members are few doesn't make them defenseless. I'm sending you two, Sai, and Team Gai for this. They have already been briefed on this. However, you two are on a special mission. The last thing we need is an Uchiha running around spilling our Village secrets. You two are to kill or detain Itachi Uchiha. Do you understand?” Tsunade told them with a grin on her face. She was giving Sasuke his chance to gain revenge for his family.
“Hai!” Sasuke and Naruto said at once.
“You leave at 800 hours. Dismissed.”
7.45am
“Are we ready to go?” Neji asked. Tsunade had appointed him Team Leader for this mission.
“We still have 15 minutes; besides, Naruto and Sasuke are not here yet.” Ten Ten informed. Just as his name was mentioned, the blond haired Jounin appeared in front of them with a foxy smirk on his face. A few minutes later, a disgruntled Sasuke walked up with a scowl on his face.
The battle was going fairly well. Itachi had singled out his brother the moment they had come and the two were battling it out. Naruto was defending himself against Kisame, hold his own against the shark man. Kisame's Chakra eating sword had been removed from the fight earlier on, so it was a Kunai fight between the two Shinobi. A strangled cry caught Naruto's attention. His breathing hitched when he realized who it was that screamed.
“Sasuke!” Naruto shouted turning around. Itachi had run his sword through Sasuke's stomach. Kisame took this time to embed a Kunai in the Fox demon container. Blood poured from Naruto's mouth as he pulled the Kunai out of his gut. The physical world faded and he was thrust into the dark corridors of his mind.
“Kyuubi!” Naruto shouted as he limped his way in front of the cage.
“I need your power now! Sasuke is in trouble!” Naruto shouted at the large Fox.
“Quickly.” Soon he was engulfed in the red Chakra of the demon. When the real world came back into view he was on the ground with a hungry looking shark man standing over him, ready to strike the finishing blow. The red Chakra engulfed the unwary mist Nin, burning his flesh into nothingness. The blond stood and ran over to his lover.
“Sasuke!” Naruto shouted.
“Don't leave me alone Sasuke!”
“N-Naru-to...you have to avenge them for me…” Sasuke said as he slowly closed his ebony eyes.
“Sasuke! Please!”
“I…L...” Sasuke's heart stopped beating. Tears burned Naruto's eyes.
“Bastard!” Naruto shouted as he beat on the dead Uchiha's chest.
“You fucking Bastard!” Naruto collapsed on top of Sasuke, his sobs reaching the ears of the only living Uchiha. A grunt was heard from behind him. Suddenly the Uchiha realized that it was a bad idea to draw attention to him because now Killing Intent and pure Anger radiated from the blond. The red Chakra that had disappeared from the blond returned nine fold. 9 solid streams of chakra flicked wildly like nine red tails. The blonde's head snapped back at Itachi. Red slitted eyes full of rage and hatred burned with said passions. Two smaller streams formed what looked like ears on the top of the blonde's head.
“You…” Naruto growled. For once in his life, pure terror filled Itachi. The injured Uchiha couldn't get away from the Fox Demon in time. Naruto ripped him to shreds in a matter of seconds.
Sasuke stiffened from his spot on the bed. The account after spoken entered his mind as his own memories.
“Ever since I have been able to call on the power of the Nine Tails whenever I need it. I called that incident Level 9.” Naruto told him as he pushed the blanket from the window to look outside it.
“You have been alone all this time?” Sasuke gasped. Pain like no other entered him. He had failed. But where he was weak, Naruto was strong. They were complete opposites yet they attracted each other like a moth to a flame. Sasuke actually felt pain for leaving Naruto alone in the world that soon would not recognize him any more.
“So what are you doing here?”
“Afterwards I left Konoha, I traveled to sand. Gaara and I soon found that we were immortal. Go figure. Kiba found that he too was immortal; his father had been a Wolf Demon in human form. Neji…when they lifted the curse it backfired. He became the Seer and Immortal that you saw tonight.”
“Is that all of the rookie 9 that is left?” Sasuke asked.
“Well Neji and Gaara weren't apart of Rookie 9, neither was Sai. Sai died during the battle against the Akatsuki and was reborn as a Shinigami.”
“What happened to Kakashi-Sensei and Iruka-sensei?”
“Shortly after you left for sound, Kakashi and Iruka were attacked by Vampires. They didn't tell me this until I met up with them here.” Naruto told him.
“So…what does this mean? I see familiar faces but they are not the ones from our past.” Sasuke asked.
“I need to talk to Sai about that. It seems a little too much to be coincidence.” Naruto said with a frown.
“Naruto, I am going out to feed.” Tsuki said in the door frame.
“Alright. Bring back some fast food. I'm tired of Ramen everyday.” Naruto said with a frown.
“Sure.” Tsuki left the two alone.
“Since when did you get tired of Ramen?” Sasuke asked.
“The day you died I stopped eating it. I almost starved myself to death. Iruka made me eat it.” Naruto said with a frown.
“Naruto…” Naruto turned around to see Sasuke inches from his face.
“I am not dead.” Sasuke said before pulling the blond into a searing kiss.
“Stop...” Naruto said with a low voice.
“I love you Naruto, I know I didn't get a chance to tell you back then, but know it is the time I let you know.” Sasuke pulled the blond onto his own bed. Naruto straddled his hips.
“I just want to hold you,” Naruto said uncharacteristically.
“That's fine with me.” Sasuke said as he laid back and pulled the blond close to him. If Naruto wanted assurance that the raven was alive then he would give it to him.
I will never leave him alone like that again, Sasuke vowed to himself.
That's how Tsuki found them, in each others arms fast asleep. He sat the fast food on the counter in the kitchen and went to bed with a small smile on his face.
