The dessert sun couldn't beat down any harder a few days after Gaara had left his village open for anything. People were starting to wonder if his leadership was going to save them from their economic depression. Food was very scarce and water was becoming a wonderful dream that was far from their feeble reach. To Osamu's worst fear, they were turning to him and his charismatic ways to lead them away from Gaara's role as Kazekage. They were turning to him for support against these hard times his father had no control over. Gaara was a mere role of protection, and Osamu knew his father really couldn't control the commerse, it was up to their political leader far from the Sunagakure.

Osamu stood at his post in front of the watch tower, the worst spot due to the sun's constant radiation against his back. If he passed out from heat, he knew his aunt Temari was a mere mile off, she would at least put him in the shade. Usually Gaara didn't give him that post, but since Gaara wasn't present there calling the shots, it was up to Amane to do her best at playing the role as Kazekage. Though she was his step-mother, he had to admit she didn't know a thing about being Kazekage. No one would support her, that's why they were turning to him to succeed against Gaara. Osamu ran his hand through his sweaty head full of brownish-red hair, he didn't even want to think about gaining that role. There was no way he wanted to be Kazekage, it was too much power that he knew he wouldn't be able to handle. Those type of things were best for other shinobi that could handle the pressure.

His sky blue eyes scanned the area as he picked up a distant chakra, probably just a passing merchant. Still, he had to be on the brink of battle each time he picked up any type of different chakra than his own shinobi. Osamu could still feel the fear of a battle in the back of his throat, he hated fighting or any type of physical combat what-so-ever since he was a Chunin. Things changed, but Osamu had long forgotten his reason for hating to fight. He gulped down his nerves as he controled the sand around him to move around him, just in case this 'merchant' became unfriendly.

What could he possibly do? It wasn't like he could just kill him, that wasn't the most human thing to do in any situation. Osamu felt the chakra come a little closer, was it a merchant really? A simple merchant didn't really have a chakra sense that strong that he could pick up several miles away. Osamu guessed it had to be a fellow shinobi, by why so discrete? Obviously someone was out there, but they weren't from his country if they were being so cautious. His nerves were getting on edge as he felt the heavy wind start to cover the chakra from the distance that was becoming more present each and every minute that passed by.

The sand became restless around his feet as he felt his heart beat against his chest. A ringing noise echoed through his ears as Osamu gritted his teeth, someone was getting closer to him. A sand storm rushed around him, and in the distance was a sand twister spin wildly as Osamu had predicted earlier that day. Osamu could finally see the person in the distance, they were walking casually closer to him. They were from a different country, but the shinobi wasn't coming from in a direction from an ally country. Something was different about this shinobi, their chakra was going everywhere in every direction. Were they trying to see how many people were around them? Osamu knew he was on his own on this post, besides Temari being a mile or two off. Could she feel the same presense as well? Her senses were slightly off with age, but she was still able to sense this type of chakra control.

After a few minutes passed and Osamu calming his nerves down to a rapid heart beat, the shinobi stood at least a few yards from him. Osamu eyed the shinobi and saw his mark, he was from Sound. How dare they show their faces here. What was once nervousness turned to bitter hatred and rage, they had no buisness in Suna. Osamu had no respect or liking of them, in fact he wanted Sound to be dead in the ground as well as all of their residents. The shinobi must've noticed Osamu's strong emotions as he smiled a wicked smile, his golden eyes widened as he whispered, "I thought i'd find you as soon as I came."

Osamu held his breath, it must've been a kekkei-genkai due to the whisper sounded like a bellow. Was he only able to hear this against the raging wind against his ear? It didn't matter, Osamu wanted this shinobi dead. Trying to keep his composure, Osamu balled up his fists, "Glad to know that. State your buisness."

"I'm merely here to discuss a unity between our countries. Suna isn't doing so well, but neither is my country, an alliance would benefit the both of us," the shinobi took a step forward.

Finally, Osamu was able to place a face on the man that he wanted to kill. His uniform was typical Sound, gray shirt and black cloth beneah with a purple beaded belt tied in the back. But, a mask covered from his nose to his neck, so Osamu could only see his golden eyes gazing at him with such intensity. It creeped Osamu to no end at how this man couldn't blink at him, but that wouldn't stop him from crushing him. This man's skin was as gray as stone, maybe he was made of stone so when Osamu crushed him, the shinobi would turn into pebbles.

"This country will remain independent from yours. The Land of Wind is much above than your primitive country of wasteland," Osamu growled angrily as the sand at his feet couldn't remain anymore, "Now get out of here..."

"I believe i'll have to pursuade you a little more," the man pulled his mask down, reveal a huge gaping hole where a mouth should've been.

Osamu's eyes widened as he saw the black abyss where a mouth once was, his stomach churned as he felt the urge to belch. The shinobi inhaled and let out a powerful shriek that sent Osamu back a ways. Osamu got on his feet as soon as he felt the ground beneath him, his sand reflected the next powerful shriek. His vocal cords were filled with chakra, so he was able to make a whisper sound like a scream while his scream could start an eartchquake. Osamu waited until he had to take another breath before he sent his sand to at least attempt to cover the shinobi.

His eyes shifted everywhere when he realized the shinobi was no longer in front of him. Osamu spun around just in time to see the shinobi yet again, he leaped back a few yards and sent his sand flying at the shinobi. The man disappeared and reappeared a little closer to Osamu, who again leaped back and attempted to grasp the shinobi. Osamu finally realized this tactic was useless, the shinobi was much faster than his sand was capable to gripping him. If his father were there... Osamu's gaze on the shinobi narrowed, his father wasn't there, so he had to get rid of this man on his own.

Standing up straight as his lips turned downward as he held out his hand with his palm downward. The shinobi let out another powerful shriek, but Osamu stood against the chakra that was tearing his clothing like tissue paper. At just the right second, Osamu balled up his extended hand and caught the man's ankles firmly. He could see the shinobi struggle as he tried to pull his feet out of the sand. What Osamu didn't realize was that screaming wasn't the only weapon that the shinobi had, he pulled out a familiar umbrella that had familiar initials across it. He had seen those umbrellas in a temple, where that temple held a famous scroll and a famous person. Fear and pure hatred made Osamu stand perfectly still as he watched the umbrella be thrown into the sky.

With what little chance he had, the shinobi used Osamu's distraction and disappeared, only to reappear behind Osamu and hit him in the back of the head. Osamu fell to his knees as his eyes stayed glued to the umbrellas, there was no way the mysterious shinobi knew where that temple was. Things started to grow darker as the umbrella was at it's final motion before the hari would fall like rain...

"Too bad, I thought a Kazekage would put up a better fight," the shinobi pulled his mask back up, glancing up as the hari made it's way towards Osamu.

A shadow caught his eyes as he leaped back, a large fan deflected the hari into the sand as a woman appeared a few feet away from him. Her chakra was filled with rage as she came at him with two large kunai. She was a good close-combat fight as she slashed, kicked, punched, and even head-butted him to the ground. The shinobi kicked her thighs as he leaped away from her, but she had leaped back far enough to grab her fan and sent him flying with one swish of the fan. He managed to capture his footing as he glared harshly at her, "Who the hell are you?"

"The one woman you don't want to mess with," Temari glared angrily at him, she readied her closed fan to knock his head off, "And you messed with the wrong kunoichi."

"Well, well, I am honored to have met a formidible enemy," he bowed mockingly, but he had to leap farther back as she swung her closed fan across where his head was.

"You have no buisness here, get out of this country before I kill you," Temari growled with as much hostility as she could get out.

"This animosity isn't healthy, it'll cause much wrinkles," he had to leap away again as Temari came at him with her fan open this time, "A price will have to pay for not accepting my country's offer for alliance. I bid you farewell, I hope you suffer the consequinces horribly."

With another mocking bow, the shinobi disappeared where his chakra was there, but hard to track. Temari spun around a few times before she went to Osamu quickly, he was knocked out cold, but not harmed. She looked for any damages, but Osamu was just slightly cut up from something she didn't quite recognize. He would be alright, Temari knew Osamu was a better fighter than to let that guy get the better of him. Something had spooked Osamu out to the point of hesitation, which he had to work on, but Temari couldn't do much at that moment.

She picked him up and went to the watch tower, Temari layed Osamu on the nursing bed to keep him out of the sun. To make sure he didn't get dehydrated, Temari hooked up a water supply into his arm then pulled down the shades. Who was that man? Why did he come? Obviously something happened, but what did he talk to Osamu about? It wasn't like she could wake her nephew up, but something had to be answered. Temari put down her fan and went over to Osamu, she shook him violently and smacked him hard on his cheek. That woke him up, Osamu thrashed around until he realized where he was, "Where did he go!? He's in Suna! He has those umbrellas!"

"Shut up and look at me!" Temari yelled as she gripped his collar, making him look at her, "Why was he here?"

"To form an alliance with our country," Osamu answered as his breath quickened.

Temari released Osamu and looked over at her village not too far off, was it in danger? Should she return there quickly? Shikamaru was watching the children, so they were safe without her presently there. But why would that man tell Osamu that information? Were they looking for Gaara? Temari glanced back over to Osamu as her eyes widened, the man didn't realize Osamu wasn't Gaara, that wasn't the Kazekage he was looking for. What consequinces were going to happen since Osamu gave an answer that Gaara was supposed to decide on. Then that was was why Gaara had left to Konoha a few days ago, he was going to figure out what to do with Naruto's help. That was now no longer needed since Osamu had no idea what to do or say in case this was to happen, so who was to blame? There was no time to give out blame, Temari had to get Osamu and herself back to their village and try to figure out what this man was after in order to get Gaara to join them.

Osamu could feel Temari's tense emotions radiate off of her, but she unhooked the water supply from him, grabbed his wrist, and exited the watch tower quickly. Before he knew it, they were both in a full, all-out run towards their village as if it were going to explode within minutes. Before they could make it, a spiral of black chakra broke through the roof of a building, the same horrible, loud screaming echoed far and wide, and a figure in the distance rose above through the spiral and disappeared. Temari's eyes widened as she watched the black spiral, and the screaming, ceased slowly, her heart dropped to her stomach as she heard a woman in the village let out a blood curdling scream.

They ran as fast as they could towards the village to see most of the villagers were crying, praying, and looking around dumb-founded. Temari pushed passed the crowd with Osamu as they reached a familiar temple, again Temari's heart sunk beneath her stomach as she forced herself in. Inside was Leila who was still screaming the same blood curdling scream as she touched the empty casket. Osamu's eyes widened as he gazed at the empty casket where his mother had onced layed on in her eternal slumber. He turned to go after wherever that man was, but Temari was faster than him and gripped his wrist, flinging him across the room, "Going off into that trap is murder!"

"You can say that, but that woman is my mother!" Osamu yelled angrily, he got up and got into Temari's face, "You don't have a clue how much I want thim dead!"

Temari slapped him across the face and shoved him to the ground, "Of course I know how much you want him dead, but he's not going to do anything to her at this stage! She's already dead, Gaara will get her body back into this place."

"You're going to rely on him? He's not even here to protect anyone here!" Osamu got back on his feet, "I'll go after him.."

"The hell you will."

Both turned to see Leila as her eyes, widened with shock and grief, she gazed over at Osamu, "Gaara will get her back, my trust is all in him to save my sister's body. You will go to your home and you will sit there until Gaara gets back. Do you understand me, boy?"

Osamu wasn't used to seeing Leila in such a distressed state, he complied easily and went out the back door towards his home. Leila turned to Temari as she bit her bottom lip, she let out a grunt of another sob as she broke down in Temari's arms. Temari, diving into her feminine side, broke down holding Leila as they cried for the loss of their stolen sister. In any other situation, Temari would've given comfort like a mother would do, but since this involved someone so dear to her, there wasn't any comfort or motherly things for her to do.

The door swung open as Amane made her way in, "Fuck! The scroll was taken!"

Leila instantly glared at Amane as she shoved herself from Temari's grasp, "Is that it!?"

"Well...what else is really that important?" Amane glared back over at Leila, "That scroll is more important than that dead wench."

Without hesitation, Leila flung herself on Amane and punched her harshly against her cheek continously. Temari waited a few moments before Amane had two black eyes and a fat lip before she pulled Leila off of her. Amane crawled away from the two women, "One of you is going to explain to Gaara why i'm so messed up..."

"You're going to tell Gaara when he gets back all that was taken from our village," Temari growled as she allowed Leila to cry on her shoulder.

Temari knew Amane would tell Gaara everything as she took Leila back to her place with Shikamaru and her girls. Shikamaru ushered the two girls upstairs as he helped Temari take Leila to their room. The two girls watch in curiosity as their aunt loud sobbing echoed throughout their house. Fourteen year old Rei took hold of her ten year old sister Amai's hand as she led them to the living room again. Amai looked over at Rei with her dark, curious eyes, "Rei, why was she crying?"

"I don't know," Rei shrugged as she continued to gaze up the stairs to her mother's room.

Meanwhile, Amane paced the entrance gates to her village as she waited for Gaara. She eventually gave up at there when they sun began to set and she sat in front of Gaara's door. Amane had heard it from one of his shinobi that he was coming back that evening, so it was a matter of time. When she picked up on his chakra, Amane stood up and saw Gaara and Kankurou a few miles away from where she was. Amane stood in the middle of the street at midnight, she watched them come closer as she started to get nervous. She knew Gaara loved that dead woman more than he would ever love her, his second wife. He wasn't going to take this lightly at all..

Gaara and Kankurou approuched her warily as Amane looked away from there, "A Sound messenger came today, Osamu was in critical condition, but he's fine now. Temari saved him..."

"What did the messenger want?" Kankurou took a step forward to her, Gaara's eyes were wide with surprise. The messenger wasn't supposed to come for another week in what the scroll said.

"He said...he was seeking an alliance between our countries, but Osamu lashed out at him and denied the offer. Due to the answer, the messenger stole two things from..." Amane couldn't manage to say where the man stole from.

"What did he take?" Gaara's tone became more of a demand than a question.

Amane took a deep breath as she glanced up at Gaara, "He took the scroll that holds Shukaku and...Ura's dead body."

Gaara felt his world fall to pieces more so than they could have ever been before. They stole his true wife. They stole the one sanity he had in his life. They stole everything from him. Gaara turned around and was about to run off, but Amane caught hold of his sleeve, "Please don't go, Gaara. I love you. Don't go."

"Release me. You are nothing to me," Gaara shoved her off as he turned to Kankurou, "Get all the shinobi on a perminent station, i'll go to Naruto and start a search party. Keep a close eye on Osamu, don't let him leave the village under any circumstances. Understand?"

"Gotcha," Kankurou yanked Amane behind him, "Now get going."

Gaara was already off before Kankurou could finish his statement, then he pushed Amane to the ground, "Where do you get the idea that you have any significance in this situation? Go to your poste and just stand there."

"Fuck that! I'm going after my husband!" Amane got in his face as she pulled out her large kunai.

"Fuck that!" Kankurou pulled out a kunai as well, "I said get to your post!"

Amane stabbed Kankurou's side and dashed off, due to her tiny stature she was very nimble and quick. Kankurou felt the blood rushing from his side, he crawled in the sand as he leaned against Gaara's door. He poured some pure alcohol on the wound and put much pressure on the wound to stop the bleeding. It was awhile before someone came out and aided him back to his place, where he realized Leila wasn't home. Kankurou started to get worried so he called Temari and found out that Leila was there, but he was in no condition to get there. He told Temari what Amane did, of course there was going to be a penalty for disloyalty to a higher ranking shinobi. Temari rushed over with Leila as they tended to Kankurou's wound.

"That damn bitch...she's not going to get away with this," Leila growled angrily as she wrapped Kankurou's waist once they had his outfit off.

Leila had Kankurou lay down on the couch, then Temari left to go back home. She told him what she saw and what happened afterwards, Kankurou embraced her against his bare chest and kiss her forehead, "I'm sorry you had to see that."

"His face..it was as if he knew how important she was to all of us," Leila mumbled as she gazed into Kankurou's warm, brown eyes, "Why would he take her away from us when that was all we had of her?"

"He's just an evil guy, Gaara will get him, don't worry," Kankurou gently kissed her as he pulled her on top of him, "Ura will be back within a week, most likely."

"I hope," Leila rested her head against his shoulder as she closed her eyes, "I'll get that bitch when she gets back here, she'll be facing charges so quick it'll make her head spin."

"Gaara is gonna teach her a lesson or two, she went after him when he went after to get a search party started," Kankurou commented as he, too, closed his eyes.
