Naruto Fan Fiction ❯ World Collision ❯ Do you know what's under that mask? ( Chapter 32 )

[ P - Pre-Teen ]

Okay, here you go! I didn't think I'd get an idea today, but this came up! (That's why I'm releasing this a bit later in the evening/night than usual.) Hope you enjoy it!
Oh, and the person I'm Cosplaying is none other than… TOBI! Boy, am I going to have fun running around bugging every Deidara cosplayer in the area! The antsy part about this is that I've got exactly a month until the convention, and I still need to make my costume! I'm going to be making the mask tomorrow, (my paper mache goo glue I made earlier today needs to cool still…) and my aunt and Mom are going to help me make the Akatsuki cloak… (I'm thinking after this that it will make a great robe to just wear around the house… or maybe at my summer sleep-away camp when I have to cover myself up before I go to the main building for devotions, lol!) Then I may buy or make Tobi/Sasori's Akatsuki ring, and I may just wear my black sandals instead of trying to make the Akatsuki shoes… I don't know… Then I need to go to the store, by a black wig, cut the hair, and spike it! (My shoulder length, reddish light brown, girly hair will not do! And I'm not cutting and dying it another color for one day! Sorry, but no!)

Deidara sighed loudly as he propped his arms up on the cold surface of the counter he was sitting at. As many times he had turned down the idea, there they were doing it, and at his expenses. He had the feeling that sooner or later, his wallet would feel very empty. Yes, he was paid for getting the One-tailed beast's Jinchuuriki, but the money could only last so long with the other two around as well.

“Lighten up Deidara-Sempai!” Tobi exclaimed merrily. “Lay back and relax for once! Sempai is always so antsy about things you know?” Returning his suggestion with an annoyed glair, he grunted a bit before gazing forward into the kitchen where their food was now being prepared.

“This wasn't a necessary stop,” he mumbled in a low voice.

“But Sempai, even Jessica-chan wanted to stop. Isn't that right?” He said as he looked at the girl who sat at his left quietly. Leaning forward on the counter, Deidara turned his attention to his slave girl to see whether or not he had her loyalty on the issue. As she quickly came back from a zone-out session, she blinked a few times as she saw that the attention was on her.

`Uh, um… I like the idea of getting some real food, but I guess I wouldn't really mind if… We didn't stop here… I guess…” She said sheepishly as she let out a light chuckle. “Just don't start yelling again, please?” After a moment of silence as the two continued to just blankly stare at her, Tobi then turned his head to look at his partner again.

“See, Jessica-Chan wanted to too! So just chill out, huh Sempai?” He said as he leaned back on his stool.

“Next time you're paying,” he mumbled as the chef came back out with three bowls of piping hot soup. Waving his hand to dismiss it quickly, Tobi began to jump up and down slightly in his seat as his food was set before him.

“Here you go, enjoy,” the old woman said as she gave them all a bright, friendly smile.

“Oh, it smells so delicious! I love it!” Tobi shouted happily as he quickly picked up his pair of chopsticks. Holding the bowl in his left and his utensils in his right, he then turned to sit backwards in his seat so that his back was against the eating bar. “Oh, Jessica-chan, look at that person in the crowd, quick before you lose sight of her!” he said with a sound of surprise in his voice. As the girl turned her head in the direction the man had pointed in with his chopsticks, he quickly put his mask up and dogged down his food in time to hide his face before the girl stopped looking.

“See what,” she questioned as she looked at him with an odd expression on her face.

“Oh nothing, Tobi thought he saw something but he didn't; sorry Jessica-chan.” He replied shrugging with a now empty bowl in his hand.

“Whoa there now, did you just eat all of that?” She said pointing at the white clay bowl.

“Tobi's stuffed now,” he said as he patted his stomach. “Hey Obaasan, could you tell me where the washroom is?”

“It's around back,” the old woman replied as she popped her head out of the enclosed part of the kitchen. Standing, the man then let out a merry sigh before walking in towards the back of the building. Besides the sound of clanking pans that were being washed and the crowds in the streets near by, there was not a word spoken as the two sets of eyes followed the figure in his `journey'.

“Hey Deidara-sama,” Jessica whispered hoarsely, getting the man's attention as she leaned across the counter. Sitting up a bit from his slouched position, the blond then looked at her. “Do you know what Tobi-san is hiding under his mask?”

“No,” he replied as he looked at the spot his partner had been sitting at the moment before hand. “I barely even know him, though he has been tailing the Akatsuki around since he took an interest in joining it a few years back.

“It's amazing, how fast he ate that soup! How did he do that? I've barely taken more than two bites from mine! It's like I looked away for less than a minute and he was done! You'd think his tongue would get burnt by chugging something that hot.”

“It doesn't really matter… He probably got some sort of scar on his face he doesn't want to show or something…” Deidara replied as the girl leaned back to her formal position.

“I guess that's a good theory…” She said in a low voice as she took a sip from her soup. “Then I wonder why he acts so... Immature, I mean really; how old is he? Without seeing his face and having most of his body covered its hard to tell, but he has to be at least around your age, right?”

“I don't know; he's a freak of nature I guess, nm.” He mumbled as he began to eat his meal as well. A moment later, the orange masked man came back around the corner.

“I'm back Sempai, Jessica-chan,” he said as he sat between them again as they scooted farther from the middle set upon his return.

“I noticed,” Jessica replied as she stared down at her light-colored broth.

“Did you notice Sempai?” He said looking at the man who pretended to not hear him. Not getting a reply, Tobi leaned towards Jessica without turning his face from the blond. “I don't think Deidara-sempai likes me that much, do you?” He asked as he cupped his hand by his mouth as he pretended to try to let only the girl hear what he was saying.

“He's just that kind of I guy I guess,” Jessica said shrugging as she played along with Tobi's little game.

“Ya, he's not real agreeable is he? Poor Jessica-chan, how did you live with him for so long; he and his strange personality.” Tobi jested in a louder tone to make sure his partner was listening. Clenching his fists, Deidara slammed his fists on the counter as he stood to his feet.

“That's it; I've had enough of this!” He shouted as he started walking away.

“Sempai, wait; where are you going,” Tobi said with an outstretched arm.

“To the washroom,” he replied as he looked back at the masked man with an overly provoked look on his face.
