Jessica stared blankly up at the ceiling as she listened to a clock's loud ticking. Releasing her breath through her nose, she slowly closed her eyes. After a few seconds, she opened them again to find herself once again in the room she was dying to leave now. The bland room made her mind stay in a half sleep state, though to her aggravation she was never able to get herself to sleep. A little while before hand, Deidara had told her that he'd quickly grab something for them all to eat. In her mind though, this was not what she'd call a `quick' trip. What was taking so long? In her head it seemed as if he'd been gone for over two hours, though she had the haunting thought that it had really only been twenty minutes. Making her lips sound like miniature motors as she tried looking at her forehead out of boredom, she perked up as she heard the door handle click.

“Tobi is here now,” a cheery voice said as he walked into the room. Giving a weary smile as he walked into the room, Jessica tried leaning up on the thin mat she now lay on.

“Where have you been this whole time?” She asked as she started up at the man.

“Oh, I was just cleaning Deidara-Sempai's cloak is all,” he said as he waved his hand in dismissal. “No big deal, though I wish he'd be a bit more grateful you know?”

“Sorry about that… I know I got at least two or three cuts after I rolled down that blasted hill last night so it must have been my blood.” She said as she glanced through the window at the cloak that was now blowing in the breeze off the Balcony's side.

“Don't worry about it Jessica-chan! I already said it wasn't a big deal,” he replied in a friendly voice as he sat down beside her. “So, what have you been up to, hnm Jessica-chan?”

“Nothing,” she grumbled as she held her head closer to her shoulders. Chuckling at her response, the masked man then moved on to another topic.

“Hey Jessica-chan, how long have you been with Deidara-Sempai?” He asked as he cocked his head in question. After thinking for a few moments, along with making a few odd faces, she tried giving a reasonable answer.

“I think it's been about two months or something; not very long if you think about it though it feels more like ages… I'm not completely sure though; I sort of lost track after we started heading towards that sand village.”

Covering the area of his mask his mouth would have been if not covered, the man then let in a short gasp. “Only two months, really,” he said in surprise. “Then where were you before then?”
“Home,” she stated simply as she looked up at the ceiling.

“Home,” he said questionably as he continued to stare at her. Jessica then sighed when she knew that he'd only stop if she'd give him a better explanation. “…Where is home?” He asked as he switched his legs positions in the cross-legged pose.

“I've never really talked about it,” she replied softly after pausing for a few moments.

“Oh, why not Jessica-chan,” he said in an almost whinny tone as the girl gave a nervous chuckle.

“I did talk about it a little, but not all that much… I guess it's just because no one seemed to be interested… Besides that, people around here, or anyone in fact, would think I'm having mental issues if I told them.”

“Why would anyone think you're crazy? And so what if they think you're crazy; people call me crazy all the time! Who would have though,” he said throwing his hands into the air wildly about. As Jessica looked at him with raised eyebrows and a mouth that's smile was tightly sealed closed, she tried not to let a laugh escape. “So you can tell me! Tobi will believe you!” He stated as he sat properly again. After letting out a small snicker before closing her eyes, she took a deep breath before speaking again.

“Perhaps I can tell you a little bit about my story.” She said thoughtfully as she looked back up at the man who was now clapping his hands.

Deidara let out an exhausted sigh as he pushed his way through the crowd. In all the places he'd been in his life of travel, he never expected the small; almost poverty stricken village would have such long lines. From that to all of the giggling woman who walked pass him constantly, he felt as if he were about to burst. Something in his life seemed to always bug him, even when Tobi wasn't there. Somehow, someway, something annoying had to pop up in every area of his life! It was times like this when he really wished that Sasori hadn't been killed so that he'd at least have a break from doing all the work once in a while. Wasn't the lead role in a partnership supposed to be sending the underling to do all the errands, not the other way around? Walking into the building he'd been staying at, he then reminded himself that it was he who had the idea to go get some food when Tobi was still out doing a job he gave him. Walking up to his room's door, he was about to unlock the door with his rented keys when he heard voices from the other side.

“Really, I never would have guessed that you lived in a city like that!” Tobi shouted excitedly from the other side of the door. Jessica then let out a slight chuckle as she muttered something he couldn't hear. “So Jessica-chan lived with her Father, her Mother, and her little brother?”

“Yep,” she replied as she let out a long sigh. “I hope things are getting better for them…”

“What do you mean? Did they have to sell you because they ran out of money to support the family?”

“No, they'd never do that! Me being sold as a slave was actually a big misunderstanding… Something that had to do with how I kept my hair and what I was wearing made some men mistake me for a run-away slave…”

“Oh, then what do you mean then that you hope things would get better for them? Where they in trouble,” he said in the way kids did to pressure an answer out of someone quickly.

“My little brother got really, really hurt…” She said in a low, sorrowful voice. As Tobi became quiet, Deidara's hand slipped on the handle as the door creaked open. Freezing in place, the blond then quickly tried to act as if he had just arrived that very moment.

“I thought I locked this thing,” he mumbled as he slowly walked into the room.

“Oh, I pick-locked the door Sempai; it was pretty easy actually!” Tobi said as he stood to his feet.

“Crappy door,” Deidara sneered after observing it for a moment. “I got some more soup; figured it will help heal you quicker.” He said looking at the girl as he lifted the takeout containers in his hands. As he walked over to the girl, he then set the medium sized boxes on the ground beside the white mat and began to unpack three bowls from one of them. As Tobi cheered when he saw the soup, the blond then handed each of them their own bowl before dishing it all out.

“Thank you for the food,” Jessica said with a slight smile on her face as she looked at her master. Looking back over at Tobi who was now at her other side, she then folded her hands. “I didn't say it out loud last time… So I don't think you know Tobi-san, but I pray before I eat my meals.” She stated as the man glanced back at her from his position facing the wall to her right.

“Oh, okay,” he said as he turned to face her again. “That's interesting to know.”

“Dear Lord,” she prayed now closing her eyes. “Thank you for this food we're about to eat. Please bless it to our bodies, and help us to get through any trouble that comes our way. Thank you that Deidara found me last night and not those other men Lord, and thank you for sending that man, or angel… Whoever he was Lord, thank you for looking after me and leading me back where I belong. Please help my wounds to heal quickly so we can leave this place and get back on the road again, in your name I pray; Amen. Okay, you can engorge yourself with your soup now, Tobi-san.” She stated as she smiled happily. Turning, the man did just that; not showing his face of course.

“What an odd girl, mm,” Deidara thought to himself as he started to eat his fill. “I wonder what makes her so enjoyable to be around

then.”
