Naruto Fan Fiction ❯ World Collision ❯ Getting onto a road ( Chapter 49 )

[ P - Pre-Teen ]

“I'm back,” cried the familiar, light hearted voice from a short distance away. As they both turned their heads to look at the masked man who waved as he approached, the blond mumbled as the girl sighed lightly.

“Seriously Tobi, how many times have we stopped for your weak bladder, u'h; even the girl's bladder has been better than yours!” Deidara asked as he stood to his feet. “Common Omae; it's time to get going again.” Looking up at the man who looked back at her from the bolder he stood upon, she nodded her head before pushing herself to her feet.

“Right, I'm on it,” she said lazily as she packed the small bag of snacks and canteen she'd been using back into the black traveling bag. Swinging it onto her back, she quickly jumped onto and over the large rock to catch up to her master with his partner near her side now.

They were now at the edge of a forest which ran along the side of the rain country, and it was around twelve in the afternoon. Since they left their small camp that morning, they seemed to only be traveling off road, though they came across different roads here and there once in a while. She couldn't understand why exactly they'd choose the way that was probably the long way to get to the fire nation, being that they weren't following any road. She did understand that they were in enemy territory from how they were attacked before, and if they weren't then they were now by the works of Deidara when he killed the attacker. Even so, it wasn't as if anyone was searching for them or knew what they looked like? Even if that were possible, she doubted that there would be ninja along every road. She guessed that these guys must have just been so use to traveling this way that it was only natural to go off road, or perhaps that was the only way either of them knew how to cut across the land. By the sounds of it, the fire nation may not have been real friendly to them either. Just how many enemies had these two made in their lives? Deidara was only nineteen from what she recalled, so how would he make enemies with many nations? As she gazed at the large red clouds outlined in white on his black cloak, she then remembered the organization he was in. Perhaps this organization was enemies with these nations, hence he was also? If so, why didn't he just take off that `uniform'? Talk about sticking out like a sore thumb! If that didn't give away who he worked for, she didn't know what could.

“So Sempai, what is the Jinchuuriki like, hnm?” The masked man questioned as he walked side by side with his partner who stared back at him every few seconds as if to make sure he wasn't fooling around.

“You should know this; it's your assignment!” He replied as he shook his head. “I really don't see how the Leader could have seen you fit to join as Sasori-san's replacement with that brain of yours.”

“But Sempai, I- Oh look! It's a road, let's travel on that instead! My feet have grown so tired from walking in the woods for so long!” Tobi moaned as he quickly bolted over the line of pushes which framed apart of the pathway. Sighing, Deidara shook his head as he furrowed his eyebrows together in a way that told you he was thinking `why me?'”

“Talk about `ADD',” Jessica mumbled under her breath as she passed him on her way to the dirt road. Turning to look at her master as she walked backwards with her thumbs buckled under her pack's straps, she cocked her head a bit. “Deidara-sama, what's taking you?”

“Don't do that,” He commanded as he took three great strides to catch up with her.

“What do you mean?” She asked as she cocked it to the other side.

“That cock you're doing, stop doing that! I already have to deal with that idiot doing it; I don't need to see you doing it as well, yeah.” He answered with a raised voice as he pointed at her. Thinking for a second, she quickly snapped her head back into its regular position before letting a sheepish smile spread across her face as she rubbed the back of her neck.

“Oh, sorry about that; I've seen him do it so many times that I'm picking up the habit without noticing.” She said bowing slightly as she turned to walk forwards again.

“Well drop the habit here; it's not something I want to live with for the rest of my life. There's a possibility that Tobi may die or possibly get reassigned a new partner, but I'm going to have to deal with you for a long time.” Jessica then frowned a bit at this as she thought for a moment. Seeing her slight confusion, he then spoke again as a small grin formed on his face. “What, did you forget already? You're my slave, so you're in my services for the rest of your life.”

“Right' I knew that but it just never really came across my mind much…” she murmured, still stuck within her thoughts. “I never really though of that… I'll be living with Deidara-sama for the rest of my life. That's an odd thought… It's what I'd think I'd do with the man I'd marry… But I guess I won't get married now that I'm now lower than a maid. Man, that's a real pain in the butt; I've always wanted to get married, though it looks as if Deidara-sama crossed that option off of my list from the moment he put that pile of money into the greedy pig's hands.” She thought as she stared down at her feet.

“What's your problem?” A voice said from beside her. Quickly looking up again, she mentally hit herself as she found that she forgot all about the blond's presence in the matter of minutes.

“N-nothing,” she replied as she looked into his blue eye which was outlined thickly in black eyeliner. She never found the rocker look for guys very appealing, though on him it seemed to fit him well. Of course, she never saw him without it on; even if he didn't put it on his other eye, it was constantly covered with his hair or that scope thing he wore over it.

“If it were nothing, why were you thinking so hard, hnm? And why did you stutter?” He asked as his grin grew gradually.

“You just surprised me is all; I get lost in my thoughts like that sometimes.” She replied as she tried to prevent the small smile that wanted to appear on her own face.

“Well you got lost pretty fast; it took some work for me to guide you out of it.” He said smugly.

“Oh don't get cocky,” she said in a slightly playful tone as her denial of her smile was ignored when it quickly spread across her face. She had half the mind to shove him a little like she would have done to any of the guys she knew back at home, but decided not to due to her position.

“Oh, playing back are you?” He said with a raised eyebrow. Before she could respond, she could feel the weight of someone's arm coming down on her shoulder as Deidara also cringed a bit.

“Sempai, Sempai,” Tobi shouted in his ear.

“What is it Tobi?” He snapped back as he glared as his partner who mainly put his weight on him as he let him and Jessica practically drag him.

“Look, there's a dango shop up ahead! I'm so tired!” He moaned as he quickly appeared in front of them as he flailed is arms and legs around wildly. “Let's go Sempai, common Jessica-chan! Let's go to the dango shop!” He cheered as he sped down the pathway until he reached the shop.

“He doesn't look the least bit tired to me.” Deidara mumbled as he frowned.

“I guess the only way to please him would be by stopping at the dango shop though,” she said as she shrugged. “Otherwise he'll probably moan and groan about it all day again like the last time he wanted something.”

“Fine, we'll stop at the dango shop,” the blond murmured as he dragged himself down the road with the girl at his side.
