Chapter 3:

Ballad of Fallen Angels

Part 1

As Ranma, physically and emotionally exhausted from the night's events,

tossed and turned trying to find peace of sleep, as he closed his weary

eyes and fell into blissful oblivion, he started to dream......

--==Dream Sequence==--

He felt great pain as he was imbedded into a stone pillar, blasted by

immense power of the evil goddess. She had proclaimed that if it wasn't

for her and her 'children' mankind would not have become what they are

today.

He saw HER stand up in defiance before the evil goddess and vehemently

denied what she had said and saw how the rock beneath her suddenly gave

way and watched as she fell to her death.

Despite the excruciating and mind-numbing pain he felt, he jumped off

the pillar where he was imbedded to save HER. He set her down atop the

pillar where she had fallen and he told her that she should leave the

evil goddess to him. She tried to stop him, but her words died in her

mouth as he gave her a passionate kiss to silence her protests and left

her breathless.

He gazed at her teary face, and even in the face of death he could

not help but admire her beauty. As he was drowning in her eyes, he

remembered that still had a battle to finish. He leapt away from her

and towards the undying spirit of the evil goddess but not before

saying, "I will return to you."

As he neared the goddess, he could feel the build up of evil energy as

she prepared to annihilate him, but it was too late for her and him. He

would show her his true strength, the infinite power of love, his love

for HER. He began to chant the words to his most powerful and deadliest

spell.

"With the strength of wind!" furious winds began to surround him

"The serenity of water!" rain started to pour from the sky

"And a soul of fire!" he felt a burning sensation erupt from deep

within his heart as it gave him strength he needed to defeat the evil

being.

"Lightning be one with me!" the heavens itself began to rumble

ominously

"To become the great thunderbolt that destroys ALL CREATION!" multiple

flashes of light lit up the dark sky as bolts of pure energy came forth

from the heavens and struck him, turning him into an unstoppable force

of destruction.

As he collided with the evil, chaotic energies of the goddess's spirit

he heard her cry out with a pleading voice as she realized what he

prepared to do,

"Don't leave me!!! Zen----------"

"LUDORA!!!!" he roared in defiance against the dark goddess as he was

enveloped in a bright light and started to fall into darkness. He tried

to utter her name one last time, as if to say good-bye.

"Chia-------"

But darkness stole his thoughts as he fell into nothingness.

--==End Dream Sequence==--

"NOOOOOOOO!!!!!!" Ranma shouted as he bolted up from his futon, with

cold sweat running down his face. He looked around him and found that

he was in the dojo all alone. Wiping the sweat of his face, he tried to

go back asleep, knowing full well that he wouldn't get anymore sleep

for the rest of the night. He sighed to himself as he thought about his

dream.

*That was really intense.* he thought himself as he tried to get some

desperately needed sleep. But the image of the young woman in his dream

kept showing itself in his mind over and over again as the night slowly

vanished with the coming of morning light.

Later, a very weary Ranma woke up to find that he had somehow fallen

asleep despite the images of the dream that had kept showing up in his

head. He also found out that he was shivering due to the fact that he

was drenched in cold water and currently female. He quickly concluded

that Akane had tried to wake him up the usual way but failed very

badly. It was lucky for him that it was a Saturday, so he wouldn't be

in trouble for coming to school very late.

*Idiot! Why are you still thinking that you're going to be here

forever!* he silently berated himself as he almost forgot last night's

events.

If Happosai's plan did work then at least he would be free of the chaos

that was Nerima. But deeply in his heart, even if he kept denying it,

there was still a small amount of love left that he felt for Akane and

he wanted to tell her that before he departed from this plane of

existence. He remembered that tomorrow both families would go out and

enjoy themselves, and how Akane had informed them the she was going to

stay behind to finish a project that she and her friend had been

working on. He decided that during that time when she was alone, he

would tell her what he felt deep within his heart.

*But today I just wanna relax and maybe take a walk around Nerima one

last time.* he said to himself as he went into the Tendo household,

greeting Mr. Tendo, his pops, and his mom with a simple, "Good

morning", and made his way to the furo for a long and relaxing hot

bath, something that might not be available to him to where he would

be going.

After spending half an hour in the furo, he dressed in a regular black

muscle shirt and faded blue jeans and silently made his way into the

kitchen where he saw sweet Kasumi cleaning and saw that she had saved

some breakfast for him. He asked her the location of her other sisters

and she told him that Nabiki went to an associate's house to discuss

some 'business' and Akane went out with some friends.

"Thanks for saving me some grub Kasumi." said Ranma as he ate his

breakfast leisurely without having to worry about the thieving panda

of a father he had.

"It's no problem Ranma-kun." replied Kasumi as she continued to clean

any dirty spot she saw in her kitchen.

Ranma savored every morsel of Kasumi's heavenly delights, as he

realized that this was one of the things he would miss after he left

this world behind. Finished with his breakfast, he handed the dirty

dishes to Kasumi who happily accepted.

*I'm really going to miss you Kasumi.* Ranma thought to himself

"What did you say Ranma?" Kasumi's soft questioning voice broke through

his train of thought as he realized that he had accidentally said his

thoughts out loud.

"Nuthin' Kasumi, tell mom and dad that I'm going out for a walk

alright?" he asked as he pointedly ignored to look at the older girl's

questioning gaze. Before Kasumi could answer, he was already jumping

over the wall of the Tendo house.

For hours Ranma just wandered around Nerima going by the places he knew

by heart: Furinkan High, Kuno Mansion, Ucchan's, The Nekohanten, Dr.

Tofu's place and other places where he fought some of his infamous

daily battles. He came to stop at a park where a huge cherry blossom

tree grew and sat on a bench under the tree, gazing at the gentle

swaying of it's branches, he looked back four years ago to the first

time he met the Tendos and the girl that had captured his heart.

He clearly remembered the first time he came to Nerima as a girl due

to the curse he had acquired at the Pools of Sorrow, and how he was

very depressed at losing his manhood and angry at the thought of his

father's announcement of a fiancée waiting for him. But all those

were swept away when he first looked upon Akane's smile and offer of

friendship, only to return after their sparring match; how she said

that she was happy losing to a girl and not to a boy. How she reacted

when she found out about his curse and labeling him a pervert. How she

was forced into the engagement by her sisters because of his curse and

her subsequent table bashing of him due to his foot in mouth disease.

Back then he thought that it couldn't get any worse being engaged with

a violent maniac, but then came Tatewaki 'Blue Thunder' Kuno with his

delusions of grandeur and infatuation with his 'pigtailed goddess, then

Ryoga and his righteous fury of vengeance, then Xian Pu with her great

grand mother Khu Lon and their Amazon antics, then his best-friend

turned fiancée Ukyo with her cross dressing would-be suitors, and all

of the others that followed the chaos that was Ranma's life.

He had gone down memory lane far too long as he noticed the setting

sun, so walked back towards the Tendo household at a slow pace.

He was greeted by Soun's demon head attack as Soun and his old man

asked or rather accused him of spending his time with his other

fiancées when he should be spending time with his TRUE fiancée, it had

stopped when Akane sent him into L.E.O. with her trusty mallet calling

him a pervert once again before even hearing out his explanation. He

had returned only to see that dinner was finished and that Kasumi had

left some food for him again. Sighing to himself, he ate the leftovers

and went to the dojo to practice some katas to clear his head for a

while.

After practicing for quite a while, he went back into the house

avoiding its inhabitants and took another bath in the furo to wash away

the accumulated dirt and sweat. He went out of the changing room only

to see a silent Akane who merely glared at him and shouldered her way

past him. Sighing once again, he went back to the dojo to get some rest

as the day started to catch up to him.

*Tomorrow..* he told himself as he closed his eyes and fell asleep.

--==Dream Sequence==--

He saw that his friends were losing badly against their powerful

adversary, but he could do nothing as he was trapped inside the thing.

He tried his controls once again, but they were still unresponsive. He

saw it throw his friend through a building, and watched as the building

collapsed on his friend.

Spying movement on the corner of his eye, he saw her rise up again

despite the tremendous damage she had received. He begged her to stop,

but she only gazed back at him with her fiery red eyes and shook her

head. She charged at the beast only to meet a powerful blast throwing

her back down once again.

*She can't take anymore...* he thought to himself as he saw her try to

rise up again only to fall down.

Remembering what the doctor had told him about the machines they

piloted, he inputted the proper code as a timer appeared on his front

screen and began to wind down as a female voice informed him of the

self- destruct sequence that he had initiated.

He told his friend what he had done and told him to take her away so

that she wouldn't be caught in the explosion. His friend acknowledged

his request, but he saw the tears that flowed down his face as he saw

him push himself out of the rubble of the collapsed building and watch

him make his way towards her downed machine and dragged her off,

ignoring her pleas to help the one she loved.

"I'm so sorry for doing this, but it is the only way for me to save you

and prevent it from destroying us all. I hope you find it in your heart

to forgive me, I'll be waiting for you my lovely angel." he said to her

as the timer went to down to nine seconds. Her face appeared in front

of him through the viewing screen as she realized what he had done.

He saw her reach out with her hand towards him...

He also reached out with his hand towards her...

Their hands touched the same spot on the front viewing screen touching

like there was nothing between their hands...

5....

She cried harder knowing she could do nothing to stop her beloved's

death, "Please..." she pleaded

4....

"Please don't leave me alone.."

3...

"You'll never be alone I'll be with you, in your heart and soul

forever."

2.....

She suddenly shouted, "NO!!! I love you!!! Don't leave me!!!"

1...

He smiled sadly at her and closed his eyes.

0...

He only heard the sound of ocean waves coming from all around him, as

the darkness bore him away.

--==End Sequence==--

Ranma's eyes flew open as another one of his dreams ended; he got up

once again from his futon and looked at his body for any burn marks.

The dream felt so real, as he vividly recalled at the searing heat

that had engulfed and burned his body.

*I'll worry about these damn dreams later.* he said to himself as he

remembered that today was the day he would finally come clean with his

feelings to Akane.

His day started with the usual sparring with his father as soon as he

left the dojo, although the fat fool had claimed that he was going to

teach his worthless son a lesson for waking up so late yesterday and

missing out on practice. But he proved his old man wrong again as he

pounded him flat in no time, then heading into the dining room to eat

breakfast with the Tendos and his mother in peace without any

interference from the panda.

*Just have to wait now.* he thought to himself as he eat his breakfast

slowly and remained silent to those around him, never noticing the look

on Akane's face.

As the day turned to night, Ranma found himself following his mom,

Nabiki, and Kasumi as they went towards the shopping mall. With his

father and Mr. Tendo out drinking again, he was only one left to help

them carry their bags. Any other man would have groaned at having to

do this but Ranma took it in stride as it was all part of his plan.

*Anytime now." he thought deviously to himself as he mentally

congratulated himself.

He had purposely left his mother's purse back at the house, so when his

mother would find out, he would volunteer to go back and fetch it for

her. It was just a matter of time now..

"Oh dear!" said Nodoka as she paused at the in front of the mall.

*Where is my purse?* she asked herself as the looked for her purse in

her kimono.

"What is it auntie?" asked Nabiki as she watched the Saotome matriarch

search her floral kimono for something.

"Is there a problem?" also asked Kasumi as she eyed the older woman

with concern in her eyes.

"My purse, I must've left my purse back at the house and I don't want

to go back because we're already here." Nodoka answered as she sighed

in defeat.

"No worries momma, I'll go back and get it. You girls just wait and

I'll be back in a flash." said Ranma as he stepped up to them,

pretending that he had overheard them.

Nodoka looked at her son and asked, "Are you sure Ranma? I don't

want..."

"It's no big deal mom, I'm the best after all." said Ranma as he cut

his mom's question short and left the 3 alone as he leapt on a nearby

rooftop and sped towards the Tendo home.

Nabiki eyed the retreating back of the pig-tailed man as she suspected

that he was up to something.

*I'll find out soon enough* she thought to herself as she waited with

Kasumi and Ranma's mother for his return.

Ranma landed silently near the koi pond and noticed that there was

something wrong as he gazed at his surroundings, the house seemed empty

as he heard no sound coming from the house at all.

*It's just my imagination.* he thought to himself as he entered the

house.

He looked around and saw that there was no one downstairs and came to

the obvious conclusion.

*Maybe she's just sleepin'* as he walked up the stairs towards Akane's

room

Nearing, her room he heard noises coming from her room, thinking that

there might be a burglar in the room and Akane was injured or worse.

Ranma silently stalked towards Akane's room hoping to use the element

of surprise against the unknown intruder.

Finding the door slightly open, he gently pushed it with his foot and

prepared himself to strike. Darkness greeted him as he squinted his

eyes and saw two figures on Akane's bed.

*No...it....it can't be...* he thought as he saw with unbelieving eyes,

that the two figures were having sex.

A female cry of ecstasy erupted from one of the figures' mouth only to

be silenced by her partner's mouth. Breaking their lip lock, the female

cried out,

"HARDER RYOGA!!! HARDER!!!"

"A-AKANE!!!" ,came the response from the eternally lost boy

Ranma stood there, unbelieving, as he watched the two continue in their

love making, blind to their surroundings except to their world of

pleasure.

"Why....?" he asked softly as he started to turn around, unable to

watch any longer, he felt the last vestiges of his love for her shatter

into a million pieces after seeing her true nature.

He stumbled away from her room with tears coming down from his eyes, no

longer caring if they heard him or not. He ran towards the room that

his father and mother shared and took out the crystal from its hiding

place and flew down the stairs.

He felt a deep sadness within him as he realized that all he had done,

all he had sacrificed for Akane was for nothing. That he was nothing to

her, nothing but a prize to be won and be thrown away like yesterday's

trash.

*I'm not human to her anyone. I'm just a piece of property.* he thought

as he tried to stop his tears but failing miserably.

Twin cries of pleasure came from Akane's room, echoing in the silent

abode as if to mock Ranma as he ran out of the house in search of

sanctuary against the cruel hand that fate had dealt him.

*I'm so sorry Ranma.* the cloaked figure thought as she watched his

flight from the Tendo household, away from the pain, anger, sorrow,

and heartache that was Akane Tendo.

*But I have to be ready.* she told herself, knowing that his departure

was close at hand and that he would be sent to the right universe to

begin his training.

"If he fails, then all is lost." she muttered as she continued to watch

and wait until it was time.
