Chapter 3:
Ballad of Fallen Angels
Part 2
It's all because of you,
I'm feeling sad and blue
you went away now, my love is just a rainy day
I love you so,
How much you'll never know
you've gone away and left me lonely
Ranma ran with hot tears coming down his eyes looking for sanctuary.
The cries of pleasure and betrayal echoed in his ears, tormenting him
as he ran away from the accursed Tendo household. The sound of thunder
could be heard from the heavens, followed by the familiar sensation of
water falling from the skies. He relished in the feeling of water
running down his body and felt the cleansing effect the pure water had.
Unintentional memory
Seemed to depart to me
Of love that's true
That one day turned my gray skies blue
But you disappeared
Now my eyes are filled with tears
I wishin you were here with me
But most of all, he was glad the water that ran down his face would
conceal the tears that flowed from his eyes even as he shifted to his
female form. A question kept repeating itself in her head as she flew
down the sidewalk, knocking down anyone who got in her way.
Stop this love that I have for you
now that you're gone I don't know what to do
*Why Akane? Why?*
If only you were here, you'd wash away my tears
the sun would shine and once again you'd be mine oh mine
but in reality, I know it will never be
cause you took your love away from me
To her despair, she couldn't find an answer to her question, so she
just kept running ignoring the shouts of anger and surprise directed
at her fleeing form.
If only you were here, you'd wash away my tears
the sun would shine and Once again you'd be mine oh mine
but in reality, I know it will never be
Oh baby, you took your love away from me.....
You took you love away from.....
........me..........
She found herself back at the park where she spent yesterday
reminiscing about her four year stay in Nerima; she sat down the same
bench and cried harder knowing that the girl she loved had shattered
her fragile heart.
A sickly green aura formed around her as she thought at all the things
he had done for her, all the temptation he had resisted for her, all he
had sacrificed for her, all the pain and anger he endured was nothing
to her. She didn't even consider him a man. He was just an arrogant,
chauvinistic, perverted jerk in her eyes. Brooding on these thoughts,
she could not help but fall deeper and deeper into depression.
Unleashing her pain, anger, and sorrow at the heavens above, she
roared,
"PERFECT SHI SHI HOKODAN!!!"
A massive, green depression-filled energy ball erupted from her
outstretched hands; it soared past the clouds in the night sky, blazing
like an artificial sun before exploding with a brilliant display of
lights.
Ranma suddenly felt really tired as he saw black spots appear in her
eyes. She hoped that no one would take advantage of her while she was
in a weakened state.
*Damn, not now!* she cursed to herself as she noticed a figure she
couldn't identify slowly approach her.
Through sheer willpower, she barely managed to ready herself if the
man intended to do something very nasty to her. But she would go down
fighting the would-be assailant with every ounce of her rapidly
diminishing strength.
"Ranma?" asked the approaching figure as the figure stepped beneath a
lamp post bathing him in light.
Her eyes widened in recognition as she saw man who was in his late
twenties wearing glasses and a dark blue gi.
"Doc...." she muttered as her legs gave out and fell backwards into the
waiting darkness.
Ignoring his gasp of surprise as he rushed to where she had fallen,
Ranma- chan thought something to herself as she slowly closed her eyes.
*Never again*
--==Dream Sequence==--
As he prepared to leave for battle, he saw her approach him, blushing
heavily, the beautiful woman looked at him with her soulful green eyes
and said in a song-like voice,
My dear....
Are you listening..................?
I believe in you more than anyone else........
So please come back to see me again..........
Are you really listening..........?
Don't be shy. I'm embarrassed too.........
Listen Ranma...........
I love........
I love.......
I love you......
His answer to her confession of love was to put his sword through her
belly...
A word haunted him as he was enveloped in darkness
"KILLER!"
--==End Dream Sequence==--
"SAKUYA!!!!!!" shouted Ranma as he bolted upon from where he rested
only to fall back with a groan; it hadn't been a good idea. He heard
a door slam open and he saw Dr. Tofu rush in with a look of concern
in his eyes.
"Are you alright Ranma? I heard you shout." he asked at the youth that
lay on one of his beds in the clinic.
"It's nothing, doc, just a bad dream." Ranma answered, he preferred not
too recall the dream as it shook him to his very core as he killed the
girl who loved him with his sword.
*Dammit! It's just a freakin' dream, you didn't kill her!* he told
himself
"Is something bothering you, Ranma?" asked Dr. Tofu seeing Ranma's
distressed face.
"N-no doc I'm fine." he answered still somewhat dizzy from his release
of power.
"Ok, Ranma, I'll leave you alone now. I tried to call the Tendos but
no one answered the phone." said Dr. Tofu as he checked Ranma for any
signs of illness, finding none he turned to leave his patient to his
thoughts when he heard Ranma say,
"No one's home right now...." accepting the answer Tofu left the room,
leaving Ranma alone.
Thinking about Akane and her betrayal strengthened his resolve to
forever leaving this plane of existence.
From a nearby window, he saw Happosai's figure out on one of his
nightly excursions. Seeing his chance to talk with old geezer, Ranma
dressed himself quickly and went out the window but not before leaving
a note for Dr. Tofu. Jumping on a rooftop, he proceeded to catch up
with Happosai's figure disappearing in the distance.
"Oh and Ranma try to take better care....of...yourself?" said Tofu as
he came back into the room only to see it empty.
*At least he could've thanked me.* he thought ruefully as he closed
the open window and left the room, completely missing Ranma's hastily
scrawled thank-you letter.
"What a haul! What a haul!" shouted Happosai as he made his way across
the rooftops of Nerima, when he heard a familiar voice from behind.
"Stop old geezer!!!"
"What do you want Ranma?! How dare you interrupt my quest to save my
silky darlings!!! It had better be a good reason like you saw Akane
cheating on you or I'll hit you with one of my bombs!!!" he threatened
the pig-tailed youth as he pulled out what seemed to be a small
firecracker.
"You knew?!" came the response from Ranma
Happosai felt a cold chill go up his spine as he felt the air around
him reach sub-zero temperatures.
"Knew what?" he asked the youth hoping that Ranma wouldn't find
anything wrong with his question.
"That she was screwing Ryoga." came the reply from Ranma
"What?" he asked dumbfounded, not believing what Ranma had said.
"You heard me." said Ranma curtly
Happosai was so shocked that he lost his hold of the bag of bra and
panties, leaving them to fall all over the street below them.
Ranma was surprised himself at Happosai's reaction, but he hid his
surprise as quickly as it came.
"How did you find out?" asked Happosai as he quickly got back to his
senses, seeing Ranma motioning him to sit down, he quickly complied and
listened to Ranma's story; completely forgetting about his bag of silky
darlings.
Happosai was appalled at the treatment of his would-be heir at the
hands of Akane Tendo. True, he had seen her mallet him a couple of
times, but he never knew that it was so much worse for Ranma both
physically and emotionally.
Once again, Ranma had surprised Happosai, it must have taken a lot
of self control to stop himself from instantly going into a murderous
rage at seeing the unfaithful act. But he knew that with this act of
betrayal, Ranma would leave and never return. He could only hope that
Ranma would get the life he really deserved in the next world.
"So then boy, what are we going to do now?" he asked and waited for
Ranma's response.
Ranma knew that tomorrow was the day he would say goodbye forever to
the life of Ranma Saotome and start a new life.
A plan quickly formed in his mind and quickly relayed to Happosai at
how he was going to say goodbye to the NWC.
As Happosai heard what Ranma had to say, he could only grin in
response.
It was early morning in Nerima and there was pure chaos at the Tendo
household. Last night Nodoka, Nabiki, and Kasumi had come home in
search of Ranma when they found Akane in the living room watching TV
with Ryoga and asked them both if they saw Ranma. Getting a negative
response from both teens with an accusation of him being with one of
his whores from Akane, two of the women started to get worried that
something had happened to the pig-tailed youth. Nabiki assured them
that he would be back for dinner and that there would be hell to pay.
But he had not come back for dinner, even after the two drunkards
stumbled their way back, Ranma still had not returned. By the morning
light, Nodoka's worry became full-blown panic for the location of her
son. With Nabiki's help she had gathered the Amazons, Ukyo, and Kodachi
at the Tendo dojo and asked them if they knew the location of her
missing son.
She almost lost all hope when they collectively shook their heads, then
she saw the Grandmaster of Anything Goes come in the dojo. Genma's and
Soun's response was instantaneous, bowing and scraping before their
diminutive master, they begged him to go look for their wayward, honor
less son/son-in-law.
Laughing upon seeing Nodoka's disgusted face at her husbands'
spinelessness; he merely snorted at the two blubbering idiots, and
told them that Ranma was waiting for them near one of his old training
spots. He told them that he was here to guide them to him. When Nodoka
asked what Ranma intended to do, Happosai merely glanced at her and
said,
"He intends to do what must be done."
Nodoka felt a sense of foreboding and dread from Happosai's words that
it shook her to the core, but she tried to wave it off as the morning
breeze. But the sense of foreboding and dread never left her.
After walking and hiking for what seemed like an hour with Happosai
leading the way, they reached a cliff face with the sun bearing on
them and saw a figure that the NWC, Tendos, and Saotomes instantly
recognized as Ranma whose back was turned to them, as he admired the
beauty of nature before him.
"Son-in-law why did you have Happi bring us all here?" asked Cologne
in an agitated voice, the others merely nodded after hearing Cologne's
question, they had been thinking the same thing.
"It is about my engagements to the girls, honored elder, I have finally
decided." said Ranma as he turned around from his nature viewing to
answer the old woman's question.
Cologne merely raised an eyebrow in concern at her son-in-law's unusual
use of formality, but she banished the thought as Ranma had finally
decided who he was going to marry.
Shampoo was overjoyed at what Ranma had said. Surely her airen's eyes
had opened and he had chosen her over the 'Kitchen Destroyer' and the
'Spatula- Girl'. She looked forward to going back with China with him,
and making lots of children with him. She giggled to herself and
prepared to glomp him.
Ukyo, like Shampoo, had the same thing in mind as she fantasized
herself coming back to her father with her Ranchan and restoring her
official status as a girl. She also fantasized at how he would help
her with the family business, making it into a successful chain of
okonomiyaki restaurants that had spread all over the world and giving
her lots of children.
Kodachi was just happy that her Ranma-sama would finally show his
hidden love for the Black Rose of St. Hebreke, and help her 'do away'
with her barbarian of a brother and her bowl-cut obsessed father.
Akane was just glad that Ranma had finally come to his stupid senses
and pick her. She was quickly getting tired at seducing and screwing
poor Ryoga. He was really good in bed but his problem with directions
was a big turn-off for her. She hoped that Ranma could live up to his
name of 'Wild Horse'.
When the two fathers had heard that Ranma had decided about whom he was
going to marry, they were more than ready to call the priest and bust
out the sake, but stopped dead as they heard his answer.
"Due to my father's mistake of engaging me to more than one girl, I
cannot, in good conscience pick either Ukyo or Shampoo to be my wife.
As it would stain the honor of the other girl and the other fiancées
that have yet to show up." said Ranma finishing his speech, it had
taken him awhile to think of the right words to say.
"WHAT?!" came the general response
"You heard me, I will not repeat myself." he calmly stated
"Boy! What about the Tendo pact?! What about Akane?! She is your TRUE
fiancée!!!" shouted Genma as he appeared in front of Ranma, ignoring
the glares of death sent his way, not noticing the way Ranma's left
eyebrow began to twitch, and missing the slight blood red aura that
began to form around his son.
"I do not consider the Tendo pact valid any longer." Ranma stated
calmly once again, but there was an underlying edge of steel in his
voice that Genma didn't notice.
"Oh how could you do this to your father Ranma?!" Soun wailed
"Oh the tragedy!" Genma joined in "To have such a disrespectful son
who shirks his honor!"
Genma was totally unprepared when Ranma grabbed his throat, lift him
off the ground, and began to cut off his air supply.
"SHUT UP! WHAT DO YOU KNOW OF HONOR?! YOU KNOW THE WORD BUT NOT THE
MEANING! IT WAS HONOR THAT KEPT ME FROM LEAVING THIS HELL HOLE! IT WAS
HONOR THAT FORCED ME TO BE ENGAGED TO A VOILENT MALLET HAPPY WHORE! IT
WAS HONOR THAT FORCED ME TO BECOME 'TENDO RANKO' TO THE WOMAN THAT GAVE
BIRTH TO ME! IT WAS HONOR THAT FORCED ME TO SUFFER IN SILENCE! IT WAS
HONOR THAT FORCED ME INTO A LIFE OF MISERY! YOU DO NOT KNOW WHAT HONOR
IS OYAJI! IF THERE IS ONE THING I HATE IN THIS WORLD IT'S A HYPOCRITE!"
Ranma roared in anger as he watched his father's face turn blue due to
the lack of oxygen. He released him from his grip, but not before hitting
Genma with a point blank.
"MOUKO TAKABISHA!!!"
Sending the fat martial artist flying several feet away from him and
into a tree where the bald fool drifted into unconsciousness.
Nodoka felt that her husband had deserved it; but Ranma still had to
respect his father. She called out to him, and made sure he saw her
hand on the honor blade that she always carried, and said in a solemn
voice.
"Son, that wasn't very manly of you talking back to your father, and
then attacking him. I think there are some things we need to discuss."
Ranma's head dropped at his mothers words. Nodoka was expecting him to
look back at her with his usual apologetic look he took whenever she
scolded him. Instead, she saw how his lips began to quiver.
*I didn't think if he would be this shaken up about all this, maybe
I should soften up. But, no, he has to know that he must respect his
father no matter what.* she thought to herself
But when Ranma looked at her, she was shocked to find that his eyes
held no tears, but an intense rage that burned brightly in his blue
eyes.
Ranma began to laugh maniacally as he looked at his mother. "It isn't
very manly mother? But it's okay to have my life messed by an idiot
like him? A man who can't stop talking about honor only when it isn't
a problem to himself, a man who put me through enough hell to last a
lifetime! A man who has engaged me to so many different families that
he doesn't even remember them all! You want me to respect that?!"
"W-what?" Nodoka was overwhelmed by the pain, sorrow, and agony in
Ranma's voice.
"Everyday I put up with his hypocrisy, I deal with women who think
nothing of me but a prize or trophy, I deal with people who are
constantly out for my head, and I even... I even have to deal with a
mother who should love me unconditionally but instead seems to be eager
to have me commit seppuku! More than half of the people out to cause me
grief are because of the things he did in the past, he was the idiot
who threw his six year old son into a pit of starving cats to learn a
banned martial arts technique, and he was the one that took me to the
Pools of Sorrow where I was cursed! That man has doesn't know honor and
if you still stand with him, then you are no better than he is!" he
finished and somewhat calmed down from his outburst.
"How dare you!" said Nodoka in anger as she pulled out the katana,
although she would never use it to force Ranma to fulfill the seppuku
pledge, she used it to intimidate him into getting what she wanted. It
also helped to calm her frayed nerves and short temper.
But Ranma knew nothing of this, so when he saw his mother unsheathed
the Saotome blade, he painfully realized she had made her decision.
"So be it." he said, as he slowly crept backwards towards the end of
the cliff, acting like he was trying to get some distance between him
and his mother.
The Tendos and the NWC just simply watched in shocked silence at the
scene unraveling before their eyes, never noticing Happosai chanting
the forbidden words of magic, waiting for Ranma's signal.
He looked at his mother and said, "When I first met you, I had hoped to
meet the mother of Ranma Saotome, I was anxious to know the woman whom
I had thought dead. But now, seeing the real you, I realize now that
the mother of Ranma Saotome died a long time ago, and only the wife of
Genma remains."
He watched, his face betraying no emotion, as his mother collapsed on
her knees and cried into her hands, as his barbed insults cut deeply
in her heart.
Feeling that he was at the edge of the cliff, he looked at a very
silent Soun and said,
"Your 'precious' daughter destroyed her family's honor by sleeping with
Ryouga, she is the one who permanently broke our engagement when she
chose him."
He glared at Akane and Ryoga, before looking at Nabiki, Kasumi, the
rest of the NWC, and his mother one last time. He took out Gaia's Tears
and clutched it close to his heart, never noticing Cologne's eyes
widening in surprise and declared,
"To restore the honor that my father dragged in the mud, I have decided
to take the only path left open to me, the path of death."
Upon finishing, he took out five small firecrackers that he had hidden
in his shirt, igniting their short fuses with his ki, he flung them in
front of him with a shout of,
"HAPPO FIRE BURST!!!"
There was a loud explosion, as rock and debris flew everywhere hitting
everyone in the blast radius. As the smoke cleared the Tendos and the
NWC rushed to where the explosion took place and saw that Ranma was
missing.
Ukyo, Shampoo, and Kodachi ran to the edge fearing the worst for their
beloved and saw that the explosion had caused Ranma to fall over the
edge. All three knew that at the height that he fell, he wouldn't be
able to survive.
As he Ranma fell, his body covered in bruises and small cuts, he heard
three different female voices cry out as they watched him fall to his
death.
"NOOOOOO!!!! AIREN!!!"
"RANCHAN!!!!!!"
"RANMA-SAMA!!!!!"
He silently prayed to the kamis that Happosai would not let him fall to
his doom. But it didn't matter to him, life or death; he still would be
free of his life in this world forever. A sudden flash momentarily
blinded him, as he was engulfed in I a pillar of light. He felt
unbearable pain as his mind forced itself to shutdown to stop the pain.
Before he lost himself in darkness, he heard a soft feminine voice say,
"Your journey has just begun Ranma."
Then he knew no more.
Happosai saw the signal as his bombs exploded and Ranma was thrown off
the cliff due to the explosion. Uttering the final words of magic, he
watched as a pillar of light suddenly appear out of nowhere, lasting
only for a few brief seconds before disappearing as quickly as it had
appeared but not before taking a young pig-tailed man with it as it
disappeared into the sky.
"What have you done Happi?" Cologne's voice asked him from behind, he
turned around to see that she looked at him with a thoughtful gaze
waiting for an explanation.
"Something I should've done a long time ago." he answered, before
bounding off, leaving the Amazon matriarch alone with her thoughts.
Nodoka could hardly believe it, but she had seen it with her own eyes.
Her son had chosen death over dishonor. She realized too late, that it
was she who has mistaken all along and her son had paid the price of
her follies. Realizing, that she had lost her darling little boy
forever, she let loose a soul-wrenching cry that shook the heavens
above. Rain poured from the sky as if to share a mother's grief at
the loss of her son.
Her voice joined 3 others, who cried at the loss of the man they had
only loved in their lifetime.
Their unified voices sang a tale that spoke of pain, betrayal,
heartache, and death.
A Ballad of Fallen Angels........
"Your journey has just begun Ranma." the cloaked figure said as she
sent his soul, using Gaia's Tears, to where it was needed the most for
the time being. *It's up to you now Ranma.* she thought to herself as
she watched and waited for his arrival. *Or should I say Demon God
Zenki..*
