****** Tokyo-3 Number 1 Public Jr. High School ******

 

Ranmaru was sitting next to Rei as the teacher continued with his lesson from before the lunch brake and he looked at her and saw that Rei was looking at the teacher and he was torn between talking to Rei and keep his mouth shut ever since the boy had come on to him in the lunchroom and he looked over to the boy and saw him looking at him with a hate filled look and he quickly turned away.

Rei looked over to Drake and saw that he was giving the green haired boy that had been bugging her a hard and evil look and she found herself studying Drake's face as she felt a strange excitement race through out her body, " Who are you? " Rei thought to herself as she took note of Drake's lips that where twisted into a deadly looking sneer that made her clit twitch as she looked up from his lips and into his dark cobalt blue eyes.

" Why do I feel so drawn to you, do you feel the same about me? " Rei thought to herself once more as she found herself becoming lost in the seemly endless expanse of Drake's eyes,

" Miss.Ayanami?, Miss.Ayanami! " Rei heard and she quickly looked away from Drake and saw that the teacher was looking right had her and she realized that the teacher had called on her and her mind raced to try and remember that he had been saying as she realized that the other students where watching her.

" What? " Rei said as she had a dumbstruck look on her face that flushed crimson as she realized that she had been caught red handed for not paying attention to the lesson that was being taught.

" Come with me. " Mr.Hugoa said as he pointed to the water filled buckets beside his desk as he wondered way Rei had not been paying attention to the lesson for he had never had any problems with Rei not paying attention to the lessons before and he made a mental note to take her aside after the class and talk to her to see if she was having any problems that had her distracted.

 

Asuka and Gwen watched as Rei picked up the buckets and walk out of the classroom, normally Asuka would have been happy to see Rei getting punished but with all that had taken place in the last few days she was not her usually vindictive self because ever since Rei had joined her and the others that the food court in the mall and started to act like a normal girl Asuka had been trying to understand what her now mixed feelings for Rei where, Gwen was thinking about what she knew about Rei and even though she was not to keen to be to close to Rei she was an eva pilot like her and she decided to try and get to know Rei.

 

Fifteen minutes later the class came to an end and as the students where leaving for their next class when Mr.Hugoa called Rei over to him, once the rest of the students where gone Mr.Hugoa started to talk to Rei as he tried to see if he could get an idea of where Rei's mind was from her facial expressions but that was a lost cause for Rei had on her usual dead pan look.

" Miss.Ayanami are you having any personal problems?, I have noticed that you seemed to be distracted as of late. " he said to Rei who just looked at him with a cold disinterest.

" I am fine, I am just having an off day. " Rei said with a flat tone of voice as she understood why the teacher was asking her if anything was wrong but she felt that her problems where her's and no one else and waited for him to speak once more, Mr.Hugoa could see that he was not going to get any answers from Rei and dismissed her with the warning to get her attention focused on the lessons being taught and watched as Rei walked out of the classroom.

 

****** Misato's Office *******

 

Misato was going over the TO&E for Section Seven's operation over in america when Ritsuko came into her office with two large cups of coffee in her hands, " Thanks Rits you're a life

saver. " Misato said as she took one of the cups of coffee from her friend who sat down on the edge of her desk, " So how's it going? " Ritsuko asked as she took a sip of her coffee and saw that Misato had a burned out look on her face.

" It's hell I have to organize the entire Section Seven for their operation over in America, I tell you the American government is going to have a shit fit when Section Seven get's there. " Misato said as she took a sip of her coffee and let out a sigh of pleasure as the hot, acidic coffee began to work it's magic on her tired out body, " I hear you on that, I bet that Section Seven and the U.S. army might have a few clashes over this whole quarantine that we are setting up around what's left of the second branch. " Ritsuko said as she put down her cup of coffee and pulled out her pack of smokes and her cat shaped lighter.

 

Misato let out a sigh as she watched her friend light up a smoke and she considered tell Ritsuko not to smoke in her office but brushed off that idea for she had told her friend that she did not want her smoking in her office before and Ritsuko still ignored her * Request * of not smoking in her office, " You know there is going to be a lot of political fallout over the whole quarantine and we just got the increased funding from the American government and their going to see this as an ass fucking from Nerv. " Misato said as she took another drink from her coffee.

Ritsuko looked at Misato as she exhaled a lung full of smoke and considered making a colorful comment on what Misato had just said to her but thought better of it for her friend did not look to be in the mood for some ribbing from her, " I mean what the hell is the Commander thinking? " Misato said as she took a hefty swig from her coffee and gave Ritsuko a frustrated look.

" I hear you on that, the Commander is acting very strangely these last few days, he's up to something and I bet you someone is going to get fucked over. " Ritsuko said as she took another drag from her smoke.

 

" Your not kidding, hell the Commander saw Kensuke today over some kind of project that the kid came up with. " Misato said as she leaned back in her chair to try and get the kinks out of her back and saw the questioning look on Ritsuko's face, " You remember Shinji's friend Mr.Adia, the kid with the glasses from the battle with the fourth angel right? " Misato added and continued to speak when she saw Ritsuko nod her head, " He came up with some kind of project and asked Shinji to take a proposal to the Commander, the Commander looked it over and told Shinji to being Kensuke here for a meeting with the Commander over his proposal. "

 

Ritsuko thought about that as she tried to understand why on earth the commander would want to see the kid for as well as what kind of proposal that Mr.Adia had come up with to warent a meeting with Gendo, " Do you have any idea as to what this project is? " Ritsuko asked as she flicked the ash from her smoke into the empty wastebasket by Misato's desk.

" I have no idea, I tried to get Shinji to tell me what it was but he's keeping a tight lip on the matter saying that if I want to know what the project is about to ask Kensuke about it, he told Drake about it but Drake would not tell me about it either, I swear those two are trying to drive me up the wall. " Misato said as she took another long drink from her coffee, Ritsuko gave Misato a friendly smile, " Ahh the joys of motherhood right Misato? " she said with a merry twinkle in her eyes, " Don't remind me. " Misato said as she let out an exasperated groan and Ritsuko took a childish delight in her best friend's suffering.

 

" Speaking of the children how are they doing? " Ritsuko said as she finished off her smoke and stubbed it out on the edge of Misato's desk and dropped the butt into the empty wastebasket.

" Christ I don't know what to do, both Shinji and Asuka are so emotionally fucked up over each other it's not funny, Asuka has been depressed and crying for the last day and a half, Shinji's giving her the brush off and that has hurt her badly, Drake and Gwen seem to be the only sane ones of the bunch of them. " Misato said as she finished off her coffee and Ritsuko took a sip of her's.

" What about Rei, how is she doing? " Ritsuko asked as she had a slightly troubled feeling about what Misato was going to say about her because she knew that if anything was out of the ordinary with her Gendo was going to have a shit fit and as much as she did not care for Rei she did not want to see her suffer needlessly.

 

Misato looked at Ritsuko and could not read what she was thinking by her facial expression and she knew that she would have to chose her words carefully for she was unsure if Ritsuko would tell the rat bastard about what she had learned about Rei from her, " Well Rei seems to be holding up and she is coming out of her shell, I gave her a few yen and told her to go and have some fun out on the town, she came back with a stuffy cabbit doll and a black purse. " Misato said as she tried to gauge what Ritsuko was thinking by watching her friend's face and eyes.

" Well that's good to hear, I'm glad to see that Rei is starting to learn to live like a normal fourteen year old girl. " Ritsuko said as she debated on telling Gendo about this latest development with his precious Rei or if she should keep her mouth shut and let Rei enjoy a somewhat normal life.

 

Misato could see the thoughtful look on Ritsuko's face and decided to get the five hundred pound gorilla out into the open, " Ritsuko can I trust you to keep this information about Rei to yourself?, I mean it seems like the asshole is trying to keep Rei from having a normal life, I mean his interest in Rei is not normal nor is it healthy. " Misato said as she watched Ritsuko's face very carefully.

 

Ritsuko took a sip of her coffee and thought about Misato's words carefully for she could tell that Misato was deeply concerned about Rei's safety and welfare as she wrestled with her feelings towards Rei for she was deeply jealous that Gendo showed more love, if that asshole was capable of loving some one to the young girl then he would show her and Ritsuko was torn between pity for the human/angel hybrid and her desire to do away with Rei so that she could have Gendo's affections all to herself.

 

Misato could see the dark look in Ritsuko's eyes and she felt her blood run cold for a second for she was sure that Ritsuko was thinking very dark and dire thoughts about Rei but she held her peace as the two women sat in her office, Ritsuko looked at Misato and she could see the fearful look in her friend's eyes and knew that if Misato had any kind of clue as to what she was thinking about Rei she would be shocked, appalled and outraged and maybe outraged to the point of violence.

 

" Misato you have got to be very careful with Rei if the Commander has any idea that anything is amiss with Rei, Rei will suffer badly for it. " Ritsuko said with a flat and some what cold tone of voice that made Misato's guts churn with fear as Ritsuko stood up and walked out of her office, leaving Misato very fearful for Rei's safety as well as the safety of the other children.

 

 

****** Kaji's Office ******

 

Kaji was relaxing with a smoke as he looked over the paperwork that was related to his job as a

* Special Inspector * for Nerv and realized that it was the same old run of the mill work that he had been given ever since he had joined Nerv and his mind thought about Gendo for he had done a few * Favors * for him.

" What are you planing you old fox? " Kaji thought to himself as he took a drag from his smoke as he thought about all that he had learned about what Nerv was it really about and for the life of him he could not begin to understand what Gendo was doing with Adam nor could he understand what the angels where about despite his best efforts to find the answers to his questions that led to more and more questions.

* Bring....Bring...Bring...* his phone went snapping Kaji out of his deep thoughts and he looked at the caller ID and saw that it was Misato calling him from her office, " Hello Sunshine to what do I owe the pleasure of this call? " he said with a roguish smile on his face, " Look Kaji I need you to go and pick the kids up from school since I'm ass deep in paperwork. " Misato said with a distasteful tone of voice of voice that did nothing to dampen Kaji's good humor.

" Oh is that all?, I thought you where calling for a * Personal Briefing * Kaji said dropping Nerv's catch phrase for having sex at work with a lusty tone of voice.

Misato bit her lower lip as she considered Kaji's words and she realized that she was running herself ragged and that she could use a brake from all the bullshit in her life but she was worried about the children especially Asuka and Shinji and she was torn apart by indecision.

 

Kaji knew from Misato's silence that she was considering his words very carefully, " Come on when is the last time you have taken some time out for yourself, I'm sure that the children must be running you ragged. " Kaji said with a calm and soothing tone of voice and the longer Misato remained silent the better it seemed that Misato would give into his advances or so Kaji believed.

 

Misato bit her lower lip as she found the prospect of a night out on the town very appealing but in the back of her mind Misato was not only worried about the children but she was also troubled by the thought that Kaji wanted nothing more from her then her body and her own feelings of lust that waged a small war with her fear of commitment as well as the deep need to be loved.

 

" Ok Kaji come pick me up at around six so at lest I'll have some time to make the kids a decent supper. " Kaji said with a strange tone of voice that made Misato think that this time around things between her and Kaji might be different and she was unsure of what to make this feeling.

 

" Thanks Kaji. " Misato said and then she hung up the phone and threw herself into her work in order to try and hide from her confusing feelings.

 

Kaji hung up the phone and sat back in his chair for a moment and considered his own slightly confused feelings as the prospect of a true and long lasting relationship with Misato took hold in his mind, " Well in for penny in for a pound. " Kaji thought to himself as he got up from his seat and began to make his way to the motor pool to pick up Misato's van from the motor pool as he began to reconsider his future and asked himself what did he really want out of life.

 

****** Outside Of Tokyo-3 Number 1 Public Jr. High School ******

 

Drake and Toji where standing by the usual waiting spot where Misato would pick him and the others up and Drake could tell that Toji was in a state of mental confusion and decided to take the bull by the horns.

" Hey Toji what's on your mind? " Drake asked as he watched his friend's face to see if he could pick up on Toji's feelings, " Nothing man just got a lot on my mind right now. " Toji said and Drake could tell from his voice that Toji did not want to talk about his problems and Drake smiled to himself.

" I saw what you did to Hikari in the classroom, I must say that was really ballsy of you. " Drake said and watched as Toji's eyes just about exploded out of his face with a look of shock and a slight hint of fear, " Y-y-y-you did? " Toji stuttered as he wrestled with his fear and shock, Drake just gave a slight chuckle, " So how did Hikari react, I knew she cummed really hard when you fingered her. " Kaji said and noticed that Asuka took the front passenger's seat while Drake and Rei took the seat behind his and that Gwen took the back seat and he took a moment to study the children and saw that Asuka had a slightly bombed out look on her face that told him that she was emotionally unstable as he noticed the way her eyes would dart around as she looked out of the windshield with a look of apprehension and outrage.

 

Drake was smiling slightly as he looked out the side window and noticed that occasionally his eyes would shift to look at Rei and for a moment he would smile then look out the window and Kaji could see a look of expectation and a surprising amount of joy, Kaji looked at Rei found she was the hardest one to read out of all of them and he took a few extra seconds to make a more detailed study of Rei's face and saw that while she was sitting with her hands in her lap and looking straight ahead and he could see that her hands where clasped to each other and every so often she would flex her fingers, Kaji looked into Rei's eyes and saw that she had a strange look in her eyes that was so out of place with what he knew about her that Kaji was unable to make sense of that look in Rei's eyes.

 

When Kaji looked at Gwen he saw that she had a slightly far away look in her eyes that told him that Gwen was off in her own little world and he wondered what she was thinking about as he noticed a slightly guilty look on her face and that she was slightly red in the checks and he was puzzled by that look.

 

" Misato I think you need this brake more then you know. " Kaji thought to himself as he started up the van and began to drive away from the school as he realized that it must be hell for Misato to deal with all of the children's conflicting emotions as well as to provide some kind of parental control over them as well as all the stress and strain that working at Nerv entailed and this put Kaji in a strange mood as he was forced to think about what he really wanted with Misato for he knew that if he was to have any kind of deep or meaningful relationship with her that he would have to be apart of the children's lives and he had no idea if he could be any kind of a father figure to them.

 

****** Hikari's House ******

 

Hikari was smiling to herself as she walked into her home and when she got in she started to wash up so she could begin cooking supper, " Kodoma could you help me with supper please. " Hikari called out as Nazumi came into the kitchen and went to the fridge to get out the bottle of cherry soda and once she had it she walked over to Hikari, " Hikari could you get me a glass please? " Nauzmi asked and when Hikari looked down to her she could see that her older sister was happy and that made her happy, " Sure squirt. " Hikari said as she walked over to the cupboard and got out a plastic glass and gave it to Nauzmi who opened up the bottle of soda as Kodoma came into the kitchen.

" Sure Hikari I'll give you a hand with supper. " Kodoma said and when she saw the happy and some what lusty look in her sister's eyes she knew something was in the making and decided she would see if she could get the answers from Hikari as Nauzmi finished pouring herself a glass of soda, " Thanks 'Doma. " Hikari said as she saw the shark like smile on her older sister's face and she could not help but to giggle to herself as she considered telling Kodoma about what happened at school with Toji.

 

Nauzmi watched her two sisters and she knew that they were up to something and she put away the bottle of soda and hopped up onto a chair at the dinner table and remained very quiet as she watched as Kodoma started to wash some vegetables that Hikari had gotten out of the fridge a few minutes earlier.

" So how was your day at school? " Kodoma said as she started to wash the potatoes and when Hikari blushed she was all over that like white on rice, " Ok spill it! " she wispiered to Hikari who was cutting up some shrimp, " Nope there's young ears here. " Hikari said with an impish smile on her face, Kodoma looked over at Nauzmi and saw that her littlest sister was watching them with a keen interest and she scowled at her, " Run along and do your homework! " she said in a forceful tone of voice that made it clear to Nauzmi that her oldest sister was not in the mood for any of her nonsense and she scampered off to her room.

 

" Now little sister tell me every dirty detail! " Kodoma said with an evil cackle in her voice as Hikari grinned like a lunatic.

 

****** Toyko-3 General Hospital *******

 

Toji was excited by the unspoken promise that Hikari had given him at school that he had a spring in his step as he walked into his little sister's room, " Big Brother is that you? " Mari said as she heard the door to her room open, " Ya it's me munchkin, how are you doing? " Toji said as he felt a stabbing pain in his heart as he saw Mari lying in her bed and that cooled him right off.

" I'm ok Big Brother, just tired, guess what I did today? " Mari said with a touch of pride in her voice that perked up Toji's interest, " What did you do today Mari? " Toji said as he pulled up a chair beside Mari's bed.

 

" I waked today, it was so hard but I did it! " Mari said with a smile on her face and Toji was thrown for a loop for the doctors had told him and his father that the likely hood of Mari walking ever again was virtually nil because of the damage to her legs and spine and Toji felt such a wave of relief at his little sister's words that he began to cry with joy and relief.

" What's wrong Big Brother I thought you would be happy that I walked. " Mari said with a startled tone of voice for she still hand bandages over her eyes so she could not see that Toji was overjoyed by the fact that she had walked, " I am happy, I'm so happy that I'm crying! " Toji said as he did his best to keep himself from bawling like a baby and when he looked up at Mari he saw the look of fear and confusion on her face change into a bright smile that he had to bit his lower lip to keep himself from losing it right then and there.

 

" It was so hard but I forced myself to walk, I took three steps before the nurse had to put me back into the bed. " Mari said with pride in her voice, " I'm so proud of you squirt. " Toji said as he put a hand on her left arm that was not covered in bandages and gave her a gentle squeeze.

 

" Have you asked if Shinji and the other eva pilots would come to see me? " Mari asked with a hopeful tone of voice and Toji felt like a heel for he had been so wrapped up his relationship with Hikari that he had totally forgotten to ask Shinji and the others if they would come and see his little sister, " Umm sorry I have been to busy and the timing was not to good to ask them. " Toji said with a sorry sounding tone of voice as he waited for Mari to get mad at him but found himself floored by what Mari had said to him, " I understand Big Brother, I bet they must be really busy, say how are things with you and Hikari? " she had asked with a smile on her face that made Toji feel even worse then if she would have gotten angry with him.

" Things are good between us. " Toji said to Mari as he felt himself blush as he recalled the many times that they had made out and this added to his guilt.

 

" Your blushing Big Brother! " Mari said with such a teasing tone of voice that Toji was shocked because of the fact that Mari's eyes where still bandaged so there was no way in hell she could see that he really was blushing, " Umm..." The air of Mari's room was filled with laughter as Mari continued to tease her big brother and the mood was such a good one that Toji could not help but to laugh as well.

After a few minutes both Mari and Toji settled down, " Ok shrimp you found me out, we have kissed. " Toji said and smiled like a loon as Mari let out a squeal of girlish glee.

" Did she kiss you really good, did you slip her the tongue? " Mari asked with a giddy tone of voice as Toji's face went a deep shade of crimson and he just about choked at Mari's words as he watched as Mari gave him an impish look, " How do you know about such things?
