"Ikari Shinji Reporting in." Inside his cell known as the cockpit of a vile machine that contained the very soul of his mother, Shinji continues to pilot the Eva. His partner in battle Asuka is only a few meters ahead of him not to far from Tokyo3 the two pilots have been sent on recon mission, to determine if the satellite images were of an angel. "Soryu Asuka reporting in, nothing to be seen other than the ruins of the old city." Nightfall was slowly starting to set in as the dusk sky started to get darker by the hour, their scanners picked up nothing, finally meeting up with unit00 the pilots felt the mission was a waste of time. "Hey wonder girl you've seen anything all day?" Arrogantly asking the timid Rei for an answer to justify her wasting her would be spring break.

"No…" She answered not giving a second thought to her single word answer, alone for quite a while before the other pilots came. "Shinji, Asuka, Rei spread out to cover a wider area these are direct orders from Gendo." Ritsuko ordered as the pilots started to fan out in the ruined city, years before the angels descended on the earth life was simple and the simple threat of other people terrorizing other people was on the minds of many. Never did they think agents of god would unleash their wrath on them, to the perspective of those that survived the hell life changed for the worst.

His heart races as the deep demonic voice sounds off in his mind "Shinji!" once more his Eva freezes to the paralyzing power that the deep voice brings "Shinji!" it echoed stridently in his breakable mind as his body freezes, his hands grip the throttles harder than before he looks at the monitors as the sweat starts to drip and his heart begins to rise. "SHINJI!" vociferous proclaims, the veins in his eyes burst instantly covering the white into a bloody red.
"Misato! Get in here something is wrong with Shinji his vitals are abnormal!" Ritsuko yelled as the technicians read off their findings "01's pilot is showing abnormal body signs and is on the verge of cardiac arrest!" Misato rushed to the Terminal "Shinji! Implement emergency override now!" The tech shook his head as the Eva rejected the signals "its no use we've lost contact." Misato folded her arms and started to think of possible solutions to this. "Major Look at the screen we've confirmed something!" To her astonishment, the satellite picked up a dark figure residing behind the 01 unit, black as night two purple eyes look into the camera before the feed is lost. "It can be…!" She thought as her heart pounded away "Asuka, Rei we've spotted an angel assist Shinji at point 002!" Misato ordered knowing full well this was the angel from Dr. Hazuki' and Takeda's works called Mephisto the very being that tempted Christ."

"Shinji! Kill them all, and you will have the one thing you desire!" Its deep thunderous voice over took Shinji's mind and body as 01 started to move "01 started up! Its in engaged its combat systems." Maya reported trying to hack into the system to override the Eva. "I can't break in; Shinji's initiated the safety lock, nothing we can do from here." Misato wondered how Shinji could have known about the fail-safe, its highly classified information. "Shinji their blood must be spilt, bring me their blood!" Shinji tried to focus his mind to block out the voice that over took his Eva. "I know your inner desires, Asuka must die it is the only way!" His body tensed up as the tear dripped from his eye. "I am your inner soul Shinji…the very emotion that lurks within your submissive emotions, unleash the wraith within! " The voice went from deep to comforting in a matter of moments. "Shinji! Shinji! Your soul is torn, adhere to thy call and I will set you free." No longer capable of understanding the very words his mind told him his body was no longer his, behind the Eva mirroring its every move 01 continued to move towards the Position of 00 and 02.

"Shinji what the hell are you doing!" Asuka yelled as 01 raised its rifle towards her and unleashed several high caliber rounds. Taking evasive action Asuka moved to cover behind a fallen skyscraper "Misato Shinji's opened fire! What the hell is going on!" Asuka yelled oblivious to the Angel behind the Eva unit as the rounds rained down on her "The Angel has taken possession of the Eva and Shinji, keep him restrained until the N2 mine can be utilized." Misato answered knowing that she would be responsible for Shinji's death if it came down to it yet for the greater good she couldn't lose two Eva pilots. "Shinji your mind torn follow me and your seek what is desire ." The voice of the fallen angel ran in his head as he continued to move towards the cover Asuka had taken; Asuka not wanting engage fought off the notion that this was no an enemy, she returned fire from the high caliber handgun the rounds missed as 01 continued to fire. "Rei, get over here and help me take Shinji down! The Angel has possessed his Eva!" Asuka roared as the several of the rounds penetrated the Eva's upper arm "you fucking idiot!" Moving from one ruin to the next she continued to fire. As several rounds hit the chest armor the inside cockpit rumbled as Shinji's blood shot eyes fixated on Asuka. "She will die at your hands… its what you've always wanted since the very day you met here." The chilling voice reminded as he moved his Eva to his top speed.
"Rei what the fuck is taking so fucking long! I can't running low and the reloading zone isn't for a fucking mile!" Asuka hollered as she engaged her progressive knife, moving in towards Asuka's position Rei lined up her shot as the targeting system confirmed the target, pilling the trigger a thunderous shot rang from her rifle as it hit the chest armor of the Eva. Nearly stopped for a moment 01 recovered and arose firing the last of the rounds from the rifle he engaged the progressive knife "Shinji spill her blood." The voice ordered, gladly adhering to the call Shinji's emotionless face was proof enough he'd succumbed to the will of the Angel. "Misato I'll hold the crybaby off." Asuka reported as she stood looking Shinji's Eva down holding the progressive knife in her hand She didn't hesitate to engage her fellow pilot.

Maya turned her head away as the two pilots started to their combat "this angel is will claim the life of Shinji and Asuka before its beaten." Dr. Hazuki said as he walked in "Misato knew he didn't have high level clearance to stand looking at the battle from the command center. But in a emergency he was granted access. "Dr. Hazuki, what can be done? It's possessed the pilot!" Maya asked as she worked away not trying to look at the battle at hand. "Shinji will have to fight the Angel, and his empty promises, his will power is all he has in that shell of death." Misato looked at him "you mean that shadow we seen is only a figment of our imaginations?" Hazuki nodded "you see, when this fallen Angel can conceal itself from our eyes. They prey on the weakness of the victims. In this case the Angel has taken hold of Shinji's, if he doesn't break out of its hold he will ultimately die as the fallen Angel will take his soul before killing the other pilots."

"Asuka restrain him! Try to break through to Shinji!" Misato ordered as she heard the news from the Ryo. "What the fuck! I'm taking damage…" Her transmission was lost as the screens went blank and the geo-front instantly lost power, soon after back up went Shit, we've lost power to the west and north wings, right now the back up is going to last an hour at most if the generators aren't repaired." Makoto reported while the lights kept flickering on and off, under tense moments of pressure the crew at Nerv kept their professionalism and maintained calm. Ryo continued to watch the battle of the Eva's.

"Shinji you asshole snap out of it!" Asuka yelled to trying to break through to him, his piloting skills were superb as he kept Asuka at bay, 02 launched a desperate attack to break through his defenses by lunging in with a direct attack to 01's throat, with a quick parry of the progressive blade the Eva unit punched 02 back into the ruins of a highway using its knife It threw it into the chest armor of 02. 01 continued to walk as it was bombarded with Eva units 00's rounds. Feeling nothing but the desire to kill Asuka, Shinji kept going despite the damage to its armor.

Asuka frantically struggled to get her Eva back up, 01 leaped into the air and landed atop 02. Pulling 0ut the progressive knife the Eva let out a violent yell "You bitch you'll die right now!" Shinji yelled as he controlled his Eva to unleash a barrage of punches. Watching it unfold Misato fought the urge to order the N2 mine on the Eva. "Major Katsuragi what the hell are your waiting for! As a direct order I command you to deploy the bomb!" Gendo yelled as he walked in looking at Ryo. "What the hell are you doing here, guards get him out of here." Misato came to his defense "he's just given us a solution to kill this angel." Gendo had none of it as the guards apprehended Ryo, struggling with their control Ryo managed to get close enough to Gendo where he hit with a vigorous punch. "You sick bastard, your son is under its possession and you want to kill him! I hope you burn in hell with your sins!" As Gendo laid on the ground Ryo was taken away by the Nerv personnel.

Shinji felt his mind free and his strong sense of power as he had lashed out the girl that made him feel like crap, no longer thinking of her as a human he continued to strike. Before he could stab the knife into the cockpit of 02. A flash of young woman had entered his mind his body froze everything seemed surreal as his sanity slowly started to regain itself. "Mother…" Memories of his long deceased mother had lurked in his mind were no gone. Slowly his eyes watered was he truly weak to find himself not able to kill? His hands let loose the control of the throttles he looked up to see static filled screens with a faint message "Shinji…." The voice of young woman known as Rei had Grabbed his Eva's hand as the knife was still locked and ready. Feeling the deep remorse in his mind he felt powerless as the entity had left.
Yet as the Angel left the mind of Shinji, its threat still stood as it had reformed from the shadow behind the Eva unit. Standing tall the slender being stood in black its purple eyes looked at the battle scared Eva units. Its grew arms flared out as the wings took hold, as the night sky took hold in the starless night, a bright star to the west shined. In its bright light the fallen Angel flew to into the night leaving a battered and weak Shinji. His fragile mind torn between knowing his mother's very soul was taken from the Eva he so reluctantly hated piloting. The Fallen Angel satisfied with a soul had left with a chilling vision that they would fight on the very ground it marked. Its sign was a white upside down cross in front of the white star in the western sky.

"Dr. Hazuki was right, the it took willpower but was it Shinji that fought off the angel or was it something else?" Misato thought as the order for the recovery teams had been given "Its only a few days until Easter." Gendo thought "this will truly be an event as the Doctors text will finally come to light." Ritsuko looked at him "Lillith is showing signs of fear as it struggles from our hold, they are coming Gendo." Ritsuko folded his arms "you can't stop this Gendo, its beyond our control the mark of the beast was made in front of our very eyes."
