Chapter Two

 

Tokyo 3's Mall

 

Both Asuka and Shinji are walking through the mall, they're looking for a job in the mall. Both of them have been walking through the mall without luck (for Shinji because Asuka didn't like any of the places they've been) when finally Shinji saw a job that Asuka may say yes to

 

“Asuka what do you think of that one” Shinji was pointing at a help wanted sign in a clothes store.

 

Asuka quickly analyze the store she looked inside, she like what she saw “there're cute guys working here (to make Shinji jealous if needed LOL) and no cute girls that can flirt with MY Shinji” after a few seconds she finally said “yes this looks good, lets ask for a job in here”

 

When Shinji heard what she said he felt a relief “I though we'll never get a job at this rate”

 

Apartment 402: Ayanami's Residence

 

 

There she was, laying on her bed “what's my purpose in life…I don't have one I fulfill my purpose during the third impact, but why am I still living…is it because Ikari wanted me to live, why…why is he the only thing I can think about… Ikari, why is everything I dream related to him, why?, why is he the only reason I go to school, to be able to see him one more time, what is this feeling that I always get when I'm close to him”

 

Rei couldn't understand why her feelings toward Shinji were different from anyone else, she is confuse over this new stuff (feelings) she never experience something like this before, and she didn't understand what that feeling was, why she felt different next to him. Rei want it to know why her heart beat faster when Shinji was close to her, and when Shinji talk to her.

 

Rei was determine to find out what was happening to her “Perhaps if I ask someone about this feelings I have toward Shinji, but who… maybe the class rep, yes maybe she could be able to answer my questions”

Katsuragi's Residence

 

Misato open the door of her apartment, she walk in and in the living room Shinji and Asuka were sitting in the couch, “they're sitting in the couch doing nothing, again!”

 

“Hi guys”

 

“Oh hi Misato” Shinji answer

 

“Did you two find a job, or at least look for one”

 

“Yes, we'll begin tomorrow after school”

 

Misato's face turned to them “Really, you actually got a job, aren't you excited”

 

“Calm down is just a stupid job, is not a big deal” Auska added not even bothering to turn her face to Misato.

 

Misato just ignore what Asuka just said and she continued her conversation with Shinji “So, where are you going to work?”

 

“In a clothes store, and the best part is that we get a 10% discount in anything we buy in there just for being an employee”

 

Misato gave him a big smile “good to hear, well I'll go to bed know and you should do the same thing” after that Misato proceed to her room.

 

Shinji's gaze turned to Asuka, he gently grab her chin and turned her face to him “She is right lets go to bed, tomorrow is our first day in our new job and we don't want to give our manager a bad first impression by looking tire, and I don't want to be late to school *AGAIN*” Shinji grab her hand and both of them walked to Asuka's room

Apartment 402: Ayanami's Residence

 

 

Its early in the morning, Rei woke up at the same time she always did. Rei got up and took a shower, after her shower she got out a school uniform from her closet and put it on, then she ate breakfast just a simple salad. After she was done getting ready for school she left her apartment to the school she wanted to be early to school because she knew that Hikari will be the first one to be there, like always. Two minutes after eating she was on her way to school, she arrived to school in about twenty minutes. She entered the classroom and notice that she was the first one in class, she went strait to her desk, set down and directed her gaze to the window and to the outside. Ten minutes after she arrived she heard footsteps coming from the hallway, then she heard someone getting in to the class room Rei turned her face to the door and saw Hikari.

 

Hikari looked at Rei “Ayanami!?” “Ayanami, you're early”

 

Rei stood up and walk strait to Hikari, “Horaki may I talk to you, I have questions that need to be answer” before Rei could continue she heard Asuka arguing with Shinji, Rei dicided that she didn't wanted Shinji or Asuka to hear their conversation. “Can we talk in private after school?”

 

Hikari's eyes were so wide, because she could believe that Rei wanted to talk “Talk, to ME”. “Uh…s..sure, I'll see you after school then”

 

Rei just nodded and returned to her desk, Hikari was in shock “Mmmm.. She wants to talk? What kind of questions? Why me? This is so wired” Hikari blink several times and returned to reality when she heard Asuka and Shinji walking to the classroom. In no time the all the students were in the classroom and the school day begun.

 

The classes went by as usual, and it was time for lunch. Asuka and Hikari were eating together, Asuka notice that Hikari have been distracted in class “Hikari, what's on your mine?”

 

Hikari turned her face to Asuka in confusion “What do you mean Asuka?”

 

“Well, you haven't pay much attention in class, well not like always”

 

“Oh that, is because of something that happen in the morning, Rei wants to talk to me after school”

 

Asuka's eyebrows rise “Wandergirl *TALK* that's odd, talk about what?”

 

“I don't know, that's what I've been thinking all day”

 

Asuka just answer with a “mmmm” Lunch ended and all the students returned to class the rest of the day went by normal but really long for Hikari. At the end of the day the bell ring and Rei didn't move from her sit, Hikari looked at Rei and then she waited for everyone else to leave the classroom. When finally everyone left the class Rei stood up and walk strait to Hikari “Horaki, can we have our conversation in the park that is next to the school?”

 

“Hu…s.sure” Hikari responded, during their way to the park neither Rei nor Hikari said a word. When they finally reach the park Rei set on a bench next to a fountain and she looked up to Hikari, Hikari understood the hint and set next to Rei.

 

Rei didn't really new how to begin the conversation with Hikari, because she never talked to anyone other then Shinji or an ex-employee of NERV. There was a small silence before Hikari brake the ice “So, Ayanami what do you wanted to talk about?”

 

Now Rei wasn't sure this was the best to do but she finally decided to talk “It's about something that I don't understand”

 

“Oh, it's about a class assignment?”

 

Rei just moved her head side to side and said “No, it is something personal, is not related to school”

 

“Oh, then what is it?”

 

A long silence between them the Rei finally got some courage and decided to let it out and tell her “Its about how I feel when I'm close to a particular person, when I'm close to this person for no reason I feel comfortable and I feel ha..happy, and I don't understand why, I would like for you to explain to me why this happens”

 

Hikari was astonish, that was the last thing she was expecting Rei to said “Rei has *feelings* for someone, does she love someone. Who can it be (my guess is Shinji who else could it be, he is the only one that Rei as contact with” after a minute or two Hikari came back to reality and saw Rei waiting for her response “Wow, well you just describe what I feel for Touji!”

 

Rei looked confused “Touji!, your boyfriend? What do you feel for Touji? maybe it will help me understand what my feelings are”

 

Hikari heavily blush and said “Well, I l..love him”

 

After a little moment Rei ask “Love, What exactly is love?” Rei had an idea of what love was, but she didn't really new.

 

Hikari didn't new how to explain it to her “mmm, how can I put it in words, well love is when you want to be with someone the rest of your life, when you really care allot for a special person, when no matter what happens you want to be with him, and when you're close to him you feel butterflies in your stomach, and you never want to be apart from him” Hikari stop when she saw Rei's face.

 

Rei's eyes double their sizes “Love! Is love what I feel for Shinji”

 

Hikari saw Rei's expression and quickly said “But that may not be the reason, maybe it's a love from someone to a friend, a love when you have a strong friendship” Hikari only said that because of the expression she saw on Rei's face, then she thought “But it sounds more like love”

 

Rei again looked confuse and said “Crush, What is a crush?”

 

Hikari looked at her “Well a crush is when like someone, something like love but not as strong”

 

Rei didn't really understand everything but she had an idea of what was happening to her, Rei wanted to keep asking questions but she saw Hikari how she struggling to talk, and she saw how she was getting nervous so she decided that was all “Thank you Hokari, I believe you answer my question, now I must leave” Rei stood up “Hokari, I wish for this conversation to stay private”

 

Hikari nodded “sure, don't worry” after that Rei walk away, Hikari just watch Rei disappear in the horizon “Even if I tell anyone no one will believe me, and I better don't tell Asuka because she is going to think what I think, that Shinji is the one she was talking about, and that wouldn't be a good thing” After a while Hikari stood up and headed for her house.

 

After a few minutes Rei stood up and decided to go to her apartment.

Tokyo 3's Mall

 

Asuka and Shinji are holding hands and they just entered their new job, both of them meet the manager “Hello, my name is Yuichi Nakata I'm twenty years old and I'm your manager, and I must ask you, are you two a couple?”

 

“Yeah, why?” Shinji sounded a little confuse

 

“Well it's because you are going to be working here, so you guys can't show any kind of affection, well not in work, ok” Yuichi answer

 

Shinji understood and said “Oh, sure don't worry”

 

Asuka was only checking out Yuichi “MMM, nice butt”

 

“Okay then, fallow me” Yuichi walked to the store's storage and gave them their uniform “Put it on and meet me in the register”

 

With that Asuka and Shinji just nodded

 

After a few minutes they were ready to go, they headed to the register. When they arrive both of them went where Yuichi for instructions

 

When Yuichi saw both of them he directed his attention to Asuka “She looks hotter in that uniform”

 

Shinji notice him watching Asuka and quickly placed himself in front of her and ask “So, what are we suppose to do?”

 

Yuichi directed his gaze to Shinji's eyes and said “Oh, mmmm let me think…I believe I'll put you here in the register and Soury mmmmm…. I think she can be in the dressing rooms, is that okay you?”

 

Shinji just nodded and said “S..sure, why not”

 

“Alright then you will be helping people with anything they need and you'll be the one charging for the clothes”

 

Shijnji smile and said “ok, just give me a minute to familiarize with the register”

 

Yuichi nodded and turned his face to Asuka “Are you okay with the dressing rooms”

 

Asuka looked at him with a disinterested gaze “Whatever, I don't really care”

 

Yuichi just smiled and said “Okay then, fallow me” Yuichi walked to the dressing rooms, when they got there he said “Here we are, here you will open the dressing rooms whenever someone wants to try clothes on, and make sure that no one takes any of our clothes on”

 

Asuka took a look in there and then she asked “So that's it, that's all I have to do?”

 

“Yes, for now that's all” Yuichi answered

 

“They'll pay me just for that, maybe this won't be as bad as I thought”

 

The rest of the day wasn't bad, Shinji and Asuka were familiarizing with everything they were suppose to be doing, and they were getting the hang of it.
