Chapter 15: Twisted First Date

Kel's P.O.V

“So, why don't you drink human blood?” Mia asked trailing behind Kel.
Kel sighed loudly. After returning from his hunt, he had found Mia right where he left her. He was quite surprised to see that she had actually listened to him for once without complaint. He had decided to walk home rather then teleporting, giving his brother more time with the witch to finish whatever it was he was doing to her. To be honest, he just didn't want to deal with the hassle of Mia walking in and seeing something that would, no doubt, cause further drama. He just wasn't in the mood.
Hence why he was now causally walking through the forest with a certain panther demon stumbling along behind him. Her and her little witch friend were really creating a problem for them. This was supposed to be a simple mission, yet it was all turned to shit within the first 3 days…
“Are you listening to me?” Mia asked for the umpteenth that night.
“I'm trying not to,” Kel replied evenly.
“You know, I don't like this situation any more then you do…so the least you could do is not be a jerk for more then 5 minutes,” she shot back hotly with a glare.
“I could, but unfortunately that would just encourage you to keep talking.” He replied not bothering to turn around.
Mia stopped walking as she narrowed her crimson gaze on him. “You've never had a girlfriend before, have you?”
Kel stopped in his tracks, turning to finally meet her gaze. “And what concern is that of yours?” he asked quirking an eyebrow.
“None, just stating an obvious fact,” she said offhandedly before strolling past him.
“Is that right?” he challenged, taking the bait.
“Absolutely, in fact I bet you've never been in a real relationship before,” she continued making a show of examining her nails. “Whenever you need to get off you probably just seek out a quick lay to get the job done and move on, no strings attached.”
Kel felt his eye twitch in annoyance at her accusations. Truth be told, her assumptions weren't that far from the truth. He constantly drew the attention of women, hell they usually throw themselves at him, which is exactly why he paid Mia no attention when she took up the same tactics. Whenever he needed a quick release, it was never difficult to find a willing partner on short notice. He never compelled them simply because he didn't like playing games like Chase did. Besides, he never needed to compel a woman to make her obey him in bed.
He saw no purpose in keeping female companions past the one night stand mark, which is why he has never been in a real relationship before. Although he was slightly annoyed that Mia had called him on this so easily, he saw no point in denying it.
“You're right,” he admitted in his bored tone as he continued walking.
Mia seemed taken aback for a moment, clearly not expecting him to admit such a thing since she never pegged him as the type to do something so shallow.
“Wow…and here I thought you were all proper and what not, when in reality you're as dishonorable and shallow as anything else with a penis between its legs,” she said dryly.
Kel released a low chuckle. “There is no honor in sex, its only purpose is to release pent up frustrations and desires, nothing more. You women all seem to be under the distinct impression that there is some kind of significant or symbolic meaning behind the act. Well, I hate to ruin your little fantasy but there isn't one…its just sex.
“Well aren't you romantic,” Mia replied rolling her eyes. “But I disagree.”
“Then you're naïve.” He replied not missing a beat.
“Bet I can prove you wrong,” she said a cat-like grin appearing on her face.
Kel rolled his eyes. “Is this the part where you tell me that all I need to do is fuck you and my mind will magically change because the experience will be oh so life changing?” he said his voice dripping with sarcasm.
“You know, for a guy that can read minds I don't think you could have gotten that more wrong,” she replied. “I was simply going to suggest you getting to know me better…maybe we can go out on a date and—”
“Do you always hit on guys who kidnap you and threaten your family?” he asked.
“Only if their hot…so I guess you're just lucky.” She shot back with a smirk.
“More like cursed…” he mumbled under his breath as they exited the forest and walked out onto the sidewalk near the main road.
“Hey can we go grab some food?” she asked as he began walking in the direction of the house.
“No.” he replied
“C'mon, I didn't eat anything since breakfast this morning and it's almost nine O'clock at night right now,” she argued.
“Guess you shouldn't have ran away then, huh. Especially since we were bringing you food,” he replied.
“Pleaseee,” she whined now pouting.
Kel turned around to level her with a glare before sighing and giving in. “Fine, let's go.” Mia smiled brightly as they walked towards a little diner near by.
She was pleasantly surprised to see Kel do everything from opening doors to pulling out chairs for her. After they were seated in one of the booths, she shot him a bright smile.
“What?” he asked quirking an eyebrow.
“You're such a gentleman, and here I thought you didn't like me,” she said teasingly.
“Force of habit. Unlike Chase, I was raised with manners. Would you prefer it if I stopped?” he replied in an uninterested tone.
“No, not at all,” she replied her grin widening.
Kel scoffed and closed his eyes, his arms crossed over his chest as they waited for the waiter in silence.
Finally, a human woman in her earlier twenties walked up to the table. The girl looked exhausted and clearly not in the mood to be dealing with customers. Her dirty blonde hair was pinned up in a messy bun and her apron had coffee stains on it. When she neared their table, she pulled out a little pad and pencil from her apron pockets.
“What can I get you?” she asked wearily.
“Um…” Mia drawled looking over the menu, “I'll have a chicken sandwich with a cup of hot chocolate and a slice of apple pie, please.”
“We're out of pie,” the girl replied.
“Oh, well—” Mia began to say.
“I suggest you go make one then,” Kel piped in, his eyes still closed.
“We can't just make an entire pie just to give her a slice, sir.” The girl replied with a hint of rudeness seeping into her tone.
Kel opened his eyes and narrowed his gaze on her, forcing her eyes to meet his. “Go make the pie.” He demanded his voice taking on a hypnotic tone. Mia watched as the girl fell into a trance, her eyes becoming dull before returning to normal.
“I'll go make that pie right away,” she said cheerfully before scooping up the menus, “Someone will be out in a minute with the rest of your food,” she said before shooting them a polite smile and walking away.
Mia sat speechless for a moment before turning to look at Kel. “What did you just do to her?”
“I compelled her.” he replied causally before closing his eyes and resuming his pervious position.
“Isn't it wrong to use mind control on someone like that…I mean can't that cause brain damage or something?' Mia said a frown appearing on her pretty face.
“Don't know,” Kel replied with a shrug.
“What do you mean you don't know,” she hissed back.
Kel opened his eyes before leveling her with a bored look. “I figured that would be an adequate answer since I'm not a fucking doctor.”
Mia glared at him before mumbling “smart ass” under her breath. “So that's why you and Chase are so pissed? Cause your compulsion doesn't work on us?” she asked.
“That among other things, yes.” He replied.
“Maybe I'm like your kryptonite or something,” she said grinning at him.
“For your sake, you better hope not,” he replied evenly.
“And why is that?” she asked arching an eyebrow.
“Because…I might have to kill you if you are.” He said with a dark smirk.
“I still think you're bluffing,” she shot back.
“Keep saying that and I might just do it out of spite,” he said his grin widening.
Mia returned his grin, silently accepting his challenge. “We'll see…besides, I've already gotten this far. Us being on a date and all…”
Kel raised a quizzical eyebrow before replying, “This isn't a date.”
“Sure it is. After a long stroll through the forest you took me out for dinner, you even held the door and pulled out my chair like a gentleman…” she continued even after hearing him growl deeply in his throat, “Then you went out of your way to compel the waitress just so I could get my pie, which was really sweet in a twisted kinda way.”
Kel's growl became louder as he resisted the urge to reach across the table and strangle the bitch.
Upon seeing the annoyance on his face, Mia's smirk only widened. “See…I told you I could get you to go out with me, regardless of the circumstances.”
“You want to starve tonight, is that it?” he growled. However, before Mia could reply the waitress had returned with her food and apple pie.
“Enjoy!” the waitress said before leaving the two alone again.
Mia continued to smile to herself, all the while refusing to meet his angry gaze. She quietly ate her food, offering him some every now and then only to have him refuse with a shake of his head. When she was finished it was almost 10:30, and Kel decided that it was time to return to the house.

Mia's P.O.V

As they left the diner and began walking back, Kel had barely uttered two words to her. She figured it was due to the fact that he was still pissed about her twisting their night into a date.
As they walked under the street lights, it became apparent that Kel was trying to put some distance between them, seeing as Mia tried to inch closer to him every chance she got.
“Wouldn't it be easier to just do that disappearing thing you do and get home faster?” Mia asked rubbing her hands up and down her arms as the cold night air prickled her bare skin. “It's not exactly warm out ya know.”
“Then perhaps next time you should try dressing with the other half of your clothes,” he replied dryly, gesturing to her scantily clad form. Mia's outfit consisted of a little black skirt, stopping about mid-thigh, with a matching black and red corset revealing much of her cleavage and a pair of black wrap around flip flops.
“Isn't there a dress code at that school,” Kel commented arching an eyebrow.
“Well its not like I've been able to change since you kidnapped me!” Mia growled her eyes narrowing. “This is the only change of clothes I have since the rest are at home, smartass.”
Kel watched from the corner of his eye as she shivered when the wind picked up, blowing her long ebony hair around her. He released a long sigh, breaking his record for the day, as he shrugged off his leather jacket and draped it over her shoulders.
Mia seemed taken aback by the action and was about to comment when Kel shot her a “don't fuck with me” kind of look, quickly silencing any remark she was about to make. She allowed a small smile to grace her lips before slipping her arms through the jacket, which was ten times too big for her, and taking comfort in the warmth that engulfed her. His scent surrounded her as she inhaled deeply, unable to shake the feeling of how familiar it was.
“Thank you,” she replied blushing, averting her gaze to the ground as Kel scoffed.
As they neared the house, Mia felt herself becoming anxious for some reason. She knew nothing about Kel, yet within the span of four days she felt like they belonged together. Even though she saw his true face and knew who he really was, she couldn't deny that she wanted to be closer to him for some reason. It didn't feel like a little school girl crush, but something deeper, something she's never felt before…
Suddenly, she found herself moving in front of Kel, positioning herself between him and the front door of the house.
Kel's ocean blue eyes narrowed in suspicion but remained quiet as he waited for her to say whatever it was on her mind.
“Okay…so here's the thing,” Mia began fidgeting nervously from one foot to the other. “I know this whole situation is complicated but I need you to hear me out.”
Mia kept her gaze glued to his feet, unable to summon enough encourage to meet his eyes. She didn't know why she was doing this, but she felt that she needed to at least try.
“I know you haven't been taking me seriously because you have a problem with my kind, a problem which I could really care less about. Truth be told, you don't know me, and I don't like being judged unjustly. If you expect me to cooperate and show you some respect then I would appreciate the same courtesy in return, especially since you claim to have been raised with manners,” she finished finally allowing her eyes to connect with his.
Kel remained silent, his face devoid of emotions as he waited for her to continue.
“That being said…I think we would be really good together,” she said confidently despite the deep blush that was now forming on her face.
“Oh you do, huh?” he said sardonically arching an eyebrow.
“I can't explain it…it just feels right,” she continued taking a step forward. “I've never felt this way before and I…I want…you to kiss me…” she said hesitantly.

Kel's P.O.V

Kel blinked once, then twice as he repeated her words over in his head.
“She wants me to…kiss her?” He thought incredulously as he stared down at her.
When she had started her little speech, he thought that it was quite amusing how she was demanding his respect in exchange for her cooperation. Nonetheless, he had to give the girl credit for standing up to him the way she was, considering most women would have been too intimidated by him to make the attempt.
He had become use to her throwing herself at him, like so many others have in the past, but this was different. It was becoming difficult to deny that he was indeed beginning to feel something towards the little demon, which was part of the reason why he was being so unusually nice towards her tonight. But her request left him at a loss for words, no longer sure as to how he should approach this.
Kel released a terse laugh before replying, “And why would I do something like that?”
“If we kiss and you feel something…then maybe you won't be so against giving us a chance,” she replied, determination shining in her eyes.
“And if I feel nothing?” he questioned his interest peaked.
“Then I wont ever bother you about it again.” She said with a sad smile, “I know when to back off when a guy doesn't want me.”
“I don't recall you doing any such thing when I rejected you countless times over the last few days,” Kel shot back.
“That's different.” She replied evenly.
“How so?” he asked.
“Because you want me.” She declared with a playful grin.
“You're wrong,” he growled his stoic expression gone and now replaced with a mask of irritation.
Mia took another step towards him, slowly closing the distance between them. “Prove it.” She challenged her eyes never leaving his.
Kel clenched his jaw, the muscles ticking tensely as he glared down at her.
Is this bitch challenging me?” he thought angrily.
“That is…” Mia continued her tone taunting him, “Unless you're scared you might like it, or worse…develop real feelings for me.”
A vicious growl ripped loose from Kel's throat before he shoved her hard against the door, slamming one hand down near her head. His eyes began flashing between his it's normal color and pitch black as he glowered down at her. Mia seemed unaffected by his fury as her eyes remained glued to his.
“Kiss me.” She repeated her voice barely above a whisper.
Before he could stop himself, Kel raised his other hand to rest under her chin, firmly tilting it upwards before slowly descending his lips upon hers. He could hear the rapid beating of her heart pounding in his ears as his lips brushed against hers… finally about to close what little distance was left between them…
“I'm I interrupting?” came Chase's voice from behind.
Kel released a frustrated growl while turning his head slightly to face his brother, though he still kept Mia pressed against the door with his body.
“What do you want?” Kel hissed sharply glaring at his brother who stood a few feet away with a shit-eating grin plastered on his face.
“Dude, I know I'm being a total cock-block right now, but I need to talk to you,” Chase said seriously despite the grin still on his face.
Kel gave Chase one last hard look before turning his attention back to Mia.
“Go inside, we'll finish this later,” he said his voice low.
“Damn right we will…” She whispered her voice husky as she reached up on her tiptoes and placed a lingering kiss on his cheek. Kel seemed unaffected by the small show of affection as he made no move to stop her. Mia smiled up at him sweetly before opening the door and shutting it behind her.
Chase then walked up to Kel, slapping him on the back. “You dog!” he exclaimed with a cheesy grin, “You just got yourself a nice piece of ass, didn't you.”
“The only ass I've been seeing lately is you,” he said between clenched teeth. “What did you need to talk about?”
Chase's amusement instantly died, remembering why he had interrupted to begin with.
“Something happened with the witch,” he stated getting straight to the point.
“You feel like being more specific?” Kel retorted.
Chase averted his gaze, suddenly finding it difficult to meet his brother's eyes.
Kel narrowed his eyes suspiciously, finding Chase's behavior and sudden bashfulness odd. “Are you…blushing?” he asked his tone emphasizing his disbelief, wondering whether or not his eyes were deceiving him.
“What? No!” he snapped glowering at Kel.
“Holy shit…you are!” Kel replied his eyes widening. “What's the matter with you?”
“I don't fucking know!” Chase growled dropping his face into his hands. “I feel weird…different, I can't explain it!”
“Calm down, what happened?” Kel asked trying to get a rein on the situation.
“I don't know…one minute I was threatening the witch and the next I was about to take her on the kitchen countertop—” Chase said pacing up and down the driveway.
“So you tried to rape her…what's so strange about that?” Kel said arching his eyebrow. “You like raping witches.”
Chase stopped pacing, his eyes timidly meeting Kel's before shifting away again. “It wasn't rape…she was willing.”
“Oh…ohhh.” Kel drawled realization finally hitting him. “So you like the girl, big deal. Don't be such a drama queen,” Kel said with a shrug of his shoulders.
Chase glared menacingly at his brother. “You don't understand, I got this…feeling inside—”
“Oh no, not a feeling…alert the fucking media!” Kel said gasping mockingly. “Honestly Chase, there's nothing wrong with liking the girl. You're overacting.” he said rolling his eyes at his brother's ability to turn a mole hill into fucking Mount Everest.
Chase released a deep growl, his temper flaring. “You're not listening to me you fucking douche,” he growled out between clenched teeth. “This has nothing to do with me liking the bitch; I can admit that just fine. I'm telling you that I feel different…”
Kel frowned slightly; realizing how truly unsettled Chase was by this. His eyes slowly took in his brother's form. He continued to pace back and forth down the driveway, his hands fidgeting in the folds of his leather jacket as if he didn't know what to do with them. He really was acting strange…as if he was suddenly uncomfortable in his own skin. Kel's eyes continued to follow him as he paced a hole into the concrete.
“Different how…can you describe it?” Kel inquired seriously.
Chase ran a hand threw his hair before pinching two fingers between the bridge of his nose. “I don't fucking know, man…I feel empty…at first I thought it was because I didn't get to fuck the witch or maybe I was hungry, so I went out and found myself a sweet piece of teenage ass. Damn Kel, you should have seen this bitch…she was every man's wet dream. And just when I was about to get my dick wet I couldn't fucking do it!” he growled in frustration.
“You couldn't do it…as in—” Kel started to say.
“Oh no, not like that,” Chase assured waving the assumption off causally. “The boys were locked, loaded and ready to go…I just didn't want to. I couldn't even bring myself to feed off the bitch!”
“Huh…interesting.” Kel said more to himself then Chase.
“Interesting…that's all you got?” Chase scowled.
“What would you like me to say, Chase?” Kel said his bored tone back in place. “You claim that this started after you're encounter with Sage, a witch who our powers do not work on—”
“So what you're saying she has something to do with this, like she infected me with something?” Chase suggested.
“You make it sound like she gave you herpes,” Kel said dryly. “I'm just saying that maybe this is connected to their immunity to our powers somehow.”
Chase remained silent for a moment before turning a scrutinizing look towards his brother. “What about you?”
“What about me?” Kel replied.
“What happened when you kissed Mia?” Chase said.
“Nothing, because I didn't kiss her,” he replied evenly.
“Keh, more like you didn't get the chance…” Chase said with a wolfish grin. “Sorry bout that by the way.”
“No apologies necessary, for all I know you saved me from catching whatever you got.” Kel shot back cheekily, a wide grin stretching across his face.
“I thought you said it's nothing like that!” Chase exclaimed in a fashion which resembled a five-year-old throwing a tantrum.
“What hell do I know.” Kel replied calmly with a shrug. “You should probably avoid anymore intimate contact with the witch until we figure this out—”
“Or you could get with Mia and lemme know if the same thing happens to you,” Chase suggested with a hopeful smile.
Kel shot him a glare. “Why the hell would I do that? So you won't have to suffer alone?”
“Yeah, it just so happens that I'm selfish like that,” Chase admitted with a grin. “Mersey does love company after all.”
Kel merely shook his head, feeling a headache coming on. “Why can't anything we do just, for once, be easy?” he said wearily.
“Because then we wouldn't be able to piss Craven off, and that would just take away his reason for living.” Chase replied with a smirk. “Just image how bored he would be without us around.”
“Yeah, remember to keep that game face on when he's shoving his foot up your ass and making you his bitch.” Kel replied dryly before turning to walk into the house.
“Why am I the only one getting a foot up my ass?” Chase asked following his brother into the house.
“Because I'm the good brother,” Kel retorted as they marched into the living quarters to see both girls sitting on the couch talking in hushed tones, no doubt filling the other in on the juicy details which took place that night.
Upon seeing the brothers walk into the room, their conversation came to an abrupt halt as both girls turned to look at them.
We can't let our guard down around them again, don't forget that.” Kel thought to Chase who merely grunted in response.
“Well, looks like tomorrow is your last day as our hostages and then you both can return home, as long as you keep everything you now know to yourself of course,” Kel explained pinning both girls with a serious look.
“We will,” Sage said, blushing and averting her gaze when Chase looked at her.
“Good, I take it we all have an understanding then?” Chase said as Sage and Mia nodded in agreement. Both brothers then disappeared from the room, leaving the girls in peace for the night.
Little did the four of them know that their now complicated situation was about to get a hell of a lot worse…
