Chapter 18
Homecoming Chaos I
Sage's P.O.V
Sage slowly twirled in front of the full length mirror which hung on her bedroom wall, admiring her appearance. Tonight was Homecoming and she bought a new dress for the occasion. The dress was low cut, showing off a fair amount of cleavage, and stopped about mid-thigh. The straps in the back had a crisscrossed pattern, stopping two inches above her ass. The dress fit her perfectly and hugged her curves in all the right places. Its light blue color was a nice contrast against her pale, creamy complexion, which was the reason why it had caught her eye in the first place…or at least that's what she kept telling herself. When she had first saw the dress on the rack, the last one in her size, the color had instantly reminded her of Chase's icy blue eyes, but of course she refused to admit that to Mia who had gone shopping with her that afternoon.
A week had passed since she agreed to be Chase's go-to-blood bank girl. A blush crept across her face every time she thought about it, the way she surrendered her body to him, allowing him to feed on her whenever he saw fit. But what other choice did she have? She couldn't just stand by and watch while he continued to lure and hurt innocent girls; this was the only way to keep him in check…
“And maybe get closer to him,” She thought before shaking her head, scolding herself for even thinking such a thing. Chase was nothing but a cold-hearted bastard who didn't care about anyone but himself. She hadn't heard from him much since that day, only if you count the random times when he would pop in and out for a “snack” and leave. Words were rarely exchanged between them during those times. She knew what she had signed up for when she agreed to their deal, but she didn't think he would be so cold about it.
The night after the incident in his room, Chase showed up outside her bedroom window, hovering in the air since her room was on the second floor. Sage found it odd that he would appear outside instead of sneaking up on her like he usually did, but she quickly dismissed the thought. However, when she opened the window for him, he remained hovering in the air as if waiting for something. She shot him a quizzical look and was about to ask what he was waiting for when he snapped at her.
“Aren't you gonna invite me in?” he asked arching an eyebrow.
“Why, if I say no you're gonna come in anyways,” she replied, taking note of the annoyed look that briefly crossed his features.
“Why isn't he coming in…?” Sage grew suspicious as she eyed him closely.
A faint smile appeared on Chase's face. “I'm just trying to be polite, since you're always telling me what a jerk I am.”
“Why don't you ever sneak up on me when I'm at home?” she questioned taking a step towards the window sill. “The day you guys let me and Mia go…you waited in the car instead of following us inside, why?”
“We wanted to see if you could be trusted,” he replied calmly.
“You're lying,” she shot back, her gaze penetrating his. She watched as the cocky smirk fell from his face.
“I'm hungry and I don't have time for this shit, Sage,” he growled. “We had a deal, remember?”
“And I intend to hold up my end, all you have to do is pop into my room,” she challenged. His fist clenched in anger and his eyes narrowed into slits. Realization dawned on her.
“You can't, can you?” she asked her tone hard.
The muscles in Chase's jaw ticked, which is something she's come to notice him do when he's either annoyed or pissed.
“All your threats of killing my family in their sleep…you lying bastard,” she seethed with boiling rage. “You can't come in unless I invite you, is that it?”
Chase didn't respond, he merely grinned. “Let me in, Sage.” He rarely called her by her name, but when he did it sent chills down her spine.
“No,” she declared boldly. Chase's smirk widened.
“And here I thought we've gotten past this. What are you gonna do, hide in there forever? You gotta come out soon or later, and so does your family.”
Sage gritted her teeth. He was right. “And don't forget about our little deal…or I can always find my food elsewhere if you prefer?” he said chuckling softly. Sage lowered her head in defeat.
“Come in…” she said her voice barely above a whisper. She didn't have to look up to feel his body pressed against her back…
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~
Sage gazed at her reflection in the mirror, shaking her head free of the memory. She was no longer safe in her house now that Chase could come and go as he pleases. For the past week, he took full advantage of her invitation, popping in and out of her room at all hours in the night. Her thoughts then drifted to his visit earlier that morning.
It was around five a.m. Sage had three hours of sleep left before she had to go shopping with Mia. Homecoming was later that night and she still didn't have anything to wear. She tossed onto her side, allowing the blanket to slip down her body. She shivered slightly in her sleep when a cold draft hit her warm body. She subconsciously snuggled deeper into the bed, trying in vein to regain the lost warmth. Suddenly, a shadow loomed over her sleeping form.
Chase appeared in the room. His blue eyes glowed brightly in the darkness of her bedroom. Sage's brow frowned and she began to sir as if sensing his presence. Her eyes slowly opened, taking a moment to adjust to the darkness before falling on the figure standing beside her bed.
She sprang up from the bed, a piercing scream only seconds away from escaping her lungs when a clawed hand clamped down on her mouth, silencing her.
“I thought you were use to this by now, shut your hole woman,” came the deep tone of Chase's voice. Its soothing tone sent vibrations through her body and instantly calmed her racing heart. She silently wondered if he was using one of his abilities. She made a mental note to ask him later.
Sage narrowed her eyes dangerously at him before slapping his hand away from her mouth. “What the fuck are you doing here?” she hissed.
“To tuck you in,” Chase shot back with a snarl, “What the fuck do you think I'm doing here you dumb bitch, I'm hungry.”
“Again?!” Sage yelled a little too loudly before lowering her voice. “You were here less then 6 hours ago!”
“Well I'm hungry again,” he replied impatiently before crawling towards her on the bed.
“C'mon Chase…I need my energy too ya know,” she whined, pouting as she backed in the headboard to escape his reaching hands. Its not like she didn't want to uphold her end of their bargain, but she was feeling more and more tired lately since she was his only source of nutrients now. Sage wasn't stupid; she knew Chase was only taking small amounts of blood from her at a time. He was doing it so he wouldn't weaken her too much, and for that she was grateful, but it wasn't enough to satisfy his thirst and left him hungry for more. He would usually give her at least 24 hours before feeding again, but he must be really hungry tonight. He seemed cranky and on edge, like Kel when he doesn't feed for a day.
“I won't take a lot, I promise…” he said softly before grabbing her ankle and dragging her body towards his. He settled himself between her legs. Sage felt the weight of his body press into hers, but she didn't mind. He had one arm wrapped around her waist while the other tangled itself in her hair. He nudged her head gently to the side before brushing his fangs up and down the length of her neck. Sage shivered in anticipation. The experience was no different then last time; every time Chase sank his lethal fangs into her neck, the sensation made her toes curl. She wrapped her arms around his neck, her fingers digging into his leather jacket. She struggled to fight back the moan that threatened to escape her lips as he bit into her creamy flesh.
As he drank from her, Sage gazed up at the ceiling with hooded eyes. Every time they did this it felt sexual and intimate, but she knew that feeling wouldn't go any further. When he finished, he would leave like he always did because he was just using her…
Sage snapped out of her thoughts and re-focused her gaze on the mirror in front of her. She quickly checked to make sure her make-up was perfect and her curly, golden brown locks were straightened before slipping on her silver stiletto heels. The doorbell rang and she knew Dyne had arrived. She felt guilty for being his date when he had no idea what was going on between her and Chase. Dyne was a nice guy, one of the few, and she didn't want to hurt him. But tonight was her chance to be a normal teenage girl who didn't have to worry about witch training, being the personal blood bank for a monster who she had unresolved feelings for or the potential destruction of her world.
Sage took one last look in the mirror and released a deep sigh before grabbing her purse and making her way down the stairs. Dyne was standing at the bottom by the door with her parents. All eyes turned to her when she appeared at the top of the stairs. Her Mom and Nana began to snap pictures like they would never see her in a dress again. Dyne smiled brightly up at her, he looked handsome in his black tux.
“I won't let anyone ruin tonight for me, not even Chase,” She thought as she and Dyne made their way towards his car.
Chase's P.O.V
“Why the fuck do we have to go to the dance? I thought you said we already got invited to the after party,” Chase ranted, irritation laced in his voice.
Kel stood in front the mirror as he adjusted his tie. “Don't blame me, you're the idiot who practically forced me to take Mia and I refuse to suffer alone,” Kel replied. “Besides, Scar and the others will be there. This is a good opportunity for us.”
“Why don't you go and I'll meet you at the after party,” Chase growled.
“What's wrong, pissed that Sage wouldn't be your date?” his brother teased with a smirk.
“Fuck you,” Chase spat before tugging on his black blazer. Both brothers were dressed exceptionally well. Their clothes were somewhat old fashioned yet elegant at the same time. Chase wore black dress pants and a fitted black silk shirt with a black, silk collar blazer over top, which he left open. Instead of wearing a tie, like Kel had suggested, Chase wore a small silver amulet which dangled loosely from his neck. Kel was dressed similarly except he donned a silk vest underneath his blazer with a crimson red tie to finish the look. Both brothers still wore their piercings.
“Try and keep a low profile tonight, brother. Remember the mission,” Kel reminded Chase.
“Yes dad,” Chase replied cheekily, folding the cufflinks of his sleeve. “Here, you should take the car since you're the one with the hot date,” he smirked before reaching into his pockets and tossing his brother the keys to the Camaro.
Kel caught them and shot Chase a heated glare. “I hate you.”
“I love you too, little brother,” Chase chuckled before vanishing from the room.
When he reappeared he stood in the school parking lot. They were really milking the whole Homecoming thing for what it was worth. Chase couldn't help but roll his eyes after taking in the red velvet carpet rolled out before the front entrance. Students in dresses and tuxes stepped out of limos and walked hand in hand with their dates into the building.
“Foolish creatures,” Chase mumbled but smirked at the thought of Kel having to do the same thing after arriving with Mia. Kel made his distain for all things in this world quite clear and nothing would annoy his brother more then having to take part in the customs. Chase couldn't wait to see the look on Kel's face.
The school gym was nicely decorated with tables, a buffet table and DJ booth along the back wall. Chase assumed that some sort of enchantment theme was involved judging by the elegant décor. A photographer had his station set up near the entrance, where couples had their pictures taken. It was there he spotted Sage and what's his name. Chase forced down the growl that rose in his throat.
After posing for their picture, Sage's eyes scanned the room searching for their seats. It was then realization dawned on Chase, a slow smirk stretching across his handsome face.
Sage and Dyne took their seats at one of the large tables closest to the dance floor. Before Dyne could pull out Sage's chair, Chase appeared before the couple.
“Well, it looks like we're all dining together for the evening,” he stated with a shit-eating grin.
Sage snapped her head up surprisingly as Dyne narrowed his gaze dangerously.
“What are you doing here?” She asked trying to hide the nervous undertone in her voice.
“I wouldn't miss a party, and this happens to be my seat,” Chase relied causally before taking a seat next to Sage on her right.
“No, this can't be your seat,” she insisted her temper flaring.
“Oh I believe it is,” Chase declared before snatching the seating card from the middle of the table and shoving it in her face. There, clearly written in fancy golden letters, were the names of the people placed at the table:
Dyne Smith
Sage Winters
Chase Williams
Kel Williams
Mia Turner
After reading the list, Sage turned her outraged look towards Chase who held up his hands in mock surrender. “Hey don't blame me; it was your BFF who made the arrangements.”
“I'm gonna kill her…” Sage mumbled darkly under her breath.
“Aren't you gonna introduce me to your date?” Chase asked his eyes moving to the demon beside her.
“No,” Sage said tersely. Chase then shot her a “don't fuck with me” look. She released a long sigh. “This is Dyne, Dyne, meet Chase,” she introduced dejectedly. The two extended their arms, shaking hands.
“So you're the new guy I take it,” Dyne confirmed his grip tightening on Chase's hand.
“Is he trying to intimidate me?” Chase thought humorlessly knowing that he could rip the little prick's arm out of its socket if he saw fit. Nevertheless, he returned the strong grip in folds. Dyne's lavender eyes shined with determination as he stared Chase down. Chase wasn't a fool. He could easily pickup on the silent claim being made. The snow leopard demon seemed to be under the assumption that one date with the witch made her his for the taking.
“Well isn't that just too fucking bad for him,” Chase thought before releasing the demon's hand. Sage eyed the two suspiciously before clearing her throat.
“If you two are done eye-fucking each other, I would like to dance,” she froze as soon as the words left her mouth. It wasn't like her to say something like that so bluntly. Such inappropriate sayings were usually found coming out of Chase's mouth, not hers. She noted the strange look Dyne gave her and instantly wanted to slap the knowing smirk off Chase's face.
“Where was that nasty little mouth of yours this morning in bed?” Chase shot her telepathically. Her face turned beat red before she sprang up from her seat and grabbed Dyne's hand, dragging him to the dance floor.
Chase watched them leave, his smile widening. Ever since the witch told him off that day in his room, he seemed to become more attracted to her. Something about her intrigued him. He knew he promised Kel he would keep his distance from the girl, but he couldn't, and didn't want to for that matter. He couldn't explain it, but it was becoming easier to accept. He enjoyed their blood arrangement and was milking it for all it was worth, though he didn't like how weak it made her afterwards. He found it odd that he felt any sort of compassion for the witch at all, and why should he? She was the one who had offered in the first place, therefore it wasn't his problem…or at least that's what he kept telling himself. The entire situation was driving him insane! If only he could figure out why he was so drawn to her…
Just then Scar and his crew of misfits entered the room, dates in hand. Scar turned and his gaze locked with Chase's for a moment before both turned away.
“It's gonna be a long night,” Chase mumbled before strolling over to the buffet table.
Kel's P.O.V
Kel pulled up in front Mia's house. Since this was supposedly a “date”, he was expected to pick her up. He had suggested they simply meet at school, but Mia had insisted. Kel was tempted to just call the damn thing off, but that would only result in Chase's nonstop bitching about him “pussying out”. Kel released a deep sigh before stepping out of the car. He approached the front door and raised his hand to knock when it flung open to reveal, who he assumed to be, Mia's father.
The man was a large panther demon and stood a good four inches taller then him. Kel noticed that Mia took quite a few features from her father, including the red eyes. The demon's body was bulky and ripped with muscles. He stood looking down upon Kel with his arms crossed over his chest and a deep scowl embedded on his face. If anyone else stood before the man, they would surely be intimidated by his presence, but Kel was not impressed. He regarded the demon with the same respect he reserved for all tainted demons in this realm, which didn't amount to much.
“Well, can I help you, son?” her father asked with a quirked eyebrow.
“I'm here to pick up Mia,” Kel forced through clenched teeth. At that moment, he didn't know who he hated more, Chase, for manipulating him into doing this, or himself, for taking the bait.
“Ah, so you must be Kel,” the father inclined his head in a silent invitation before turning to walk back into the house. Kel glanced at the doorway. He needed a verbal invitation in order to step through the threshold, which is something he never revealed to Mia. Seeing that he was not following, the father turned back around.
“Well, don't just stand there. Come in,” he said impatiently.
Kel felt the invisible barrier around him lift before he stepped into the house, closing the door behind him.
“You must be Kel!” a female panther demon said sauntering towards the door to greet him. She was small in comparison to the man leaning against the wall still glaring daggers at him.
“I'm Mia's mother. Oh my, aren't you handsome! Honey, isn't he handsome?” she cheerfully asked her husband.
“Yeah he's something alright,” the man replied, his eyes searching openly for any detectable flaws.
“Mia had told us so much about you…” the woman continued to ramble on. Kel merely smiled and nodded, not really paying attention to the words spewing from the annoying woman's mouth.
“My god, she's worse then her daughter. Do these people ever shut up?” he thought wearily.
“…Mia should be done soon,” were the last words Kel picked up on before the woman finally stopped speaking.
“Thank you,” he replied with a charming smile. The father then grunted something unintelligible. His wife shot him a glare before returning a smiling face towards Kel.
“Let's have a seat in the living room, shall we,” she said leading them away. Kel took a seat on the couch across from the parents, the three now facing each other.
“I'll go get some drinks,” the woman said, taking off in the direction of the kitchen. Kel and the other demon sat in silence, eye contact firmly in place. The man was clearly trying to intimidate him and failing miserably. Five minutes in the man's presence and Kel already wanted to kill him.
“So that must be where Mia gets it from,” he thought.
“What kind of a name is “Kel” anyways?” the father scoffed, breaking the silence.
“I'm very sorry to inform you that I did not name myself, you would have to ask my father,” Kel replied smoothly. The demon growled.
“Great, when do I meet him?” he asked arching a brow.
“When you learn to contact the dead,” Kel replied without missing a beat. The man looked like he was seconds away from throttling the “kid” across from him if his wife hadn't walked back into the room. She sat the tray of tea down on the table, picking up a cup and handing it to Kel. He smiled politely and thanked her, his discussion with the father forgotten as he sipped the hot liquid.
“So, Kel,” the woman began smiling brightly. “Mia tells us you're her mate.”
Kel choked on the tea mid-sip as it went down the wrong pipe. “I'm gonna kill that little bitch and burry her next to Chase!” he thought furiously.
“I believe you're mistaken,” he clarified once his throat was clear.
“You saying my daughter's not good enough for you?” the man asked, his crimson eyes narrowing into silts. It was on the tip of Kel's tongue to tell them yes when he heard faint footsteps coming down the stairs.
All three of them stood as Mia stepped into the room. Kel was ready to send her a mental string of profanities for taking so fucking long when he caught sight of her. Half of her raven black hair was swooped up in a neat bun as the rest cascaded down her back in soft curls. The blood red, strapless dress she wore flowed to the ground with two thigh length slits on both sides, which showed off her beautiful, shapely legs. A good portion of the back was made up of lace, which ran in a V pattern down to her ass. She looked amazing.
Kel silently took in the beauty that stood before him, he was impressed. He had never in his life seen a woman more appealing then the one who stood in front of him. Mia licked her plump lips as her own eyes drifted up and down the length of Kel's body. A deep growl broke the sexual tension around them.
“Alright, that's enough,” came her father's gruff voice. “Don't mind us; we're just standing right here.” Kel turned to see her mother had a clear flustered look on her face, whereas the father had a scowl on his, both clearly able to “smell” the attraction the two had for each other.
“Let's take a picture!” the mother announced brightly, running over to retrieve her camera from the coffee table.
Kel walked over to Mia, deciding he might as well play his role. He took her hand in his and kissed it gently.
“You look beautiful,” he said in his usual emotionless tone.
“Thank you, you don't look too bad yourself,” she replied with a smirk and mischievous glint in her eyes.
“Smile you two!” her mother chimed.
Kel snaked one arm around Mia's waist, pulling her to his side, and stuffed the other into his pocket.
Mia's P.O.V
She knew it was wrong to keep him purposely waiting, but she was curious to see how he would handle her parents. After listening to the rude remarks he and her father sent back and forth, she decided it would be best to make herself known before Kel lost his patience. For the most part, he was being a good sport about all this. She knew her father wouldn't like him because he never liked anyone she brought home, and her mother was friendly to everyone, so no worries there.
When she first walked into the room, she was satisfied to see that her appearance had an effect on him, not that she could blame him. After all, she was smoking hot. It did surprise her, however, when he kissed her hand and told her how beautiful she looked. Whether he was being serious, or just playing along, she couldn't tell.
He acted so much like his normal, bored, self as they took pictures and humored her parents that she wasn't sure if he felt the same tension that she felt when she first saw him. He man looked sexy as hell in a suit! She knew he would wear red, since it was obviously his color, and saw to it that her dress would match. She knew that they looked good together; she just wished that he would pull his head out of his ass and realize it too. Even though she was well aware of what and who he was, she knew in her heart that they were meant to be. She had almost laughed out loud when her mom confronted him about being her mate, causing him to choke on his drink. She didn't know why the comment had left him so surprised, she had been telling him that since the day they met. It was only a matter of time until he realized it for himself…and she didn't mind waiting.
After saying goodbye to her parents, they watched from the door as the couple made their way to Kel's car. He remained silent the entire way, opening her door like a gentleman before taking his place in the driver's seat. She waved to her parents as he drove off. She then turned and smiled at him, his eyes glue to the road ahead.
“Thanks for playing along back there,” she said touching his arm. He then sharply turned the wheel to the right, maneuvering the car into an isolated area in the woods just off the highway. He slammed the car into park and turned off the engine. Darkness engulfed them, the only bit of light was dimly seen off in the distance from the road he pulled off of. Mia looked around at the trees and bushes that surrounded them.
“Hungry?” she asked with a smirk, knowing full well that he didn't bring them here so he can find a rabbit to snack on. Kel leveled his heated glare onto her, his ocean blue eyes shimmering dangerously in the darkness.
“Mate?” he hissed in a low voice.
Mia's smile widened. “Yes my love?” she answered with a tilt of her head, receiving a menacing growl in response.
“I should just kill you here,” he threatened. Mia looked at him questioningly.
“Why are you making such a big deal out of it? You said yourself that it'll never happen, so you got nothing to worry about. Unless…” she continued scooting closer to him. “You're beginning to second guess yourself?”
“You are in no position to be pissing me off right now, little girl,” he seethed darkly, his eyes hidden by the shadows.
Mia stared at him for a moment, one hand white-knuckling the steering wheel while the other clenched around the gear shift. For the first time, Mia felt a little bad for teasing him. Maybe he was confused. Maybe he really didn't understand what he was feeling and was too scared to explore it. But Mia knew that he was her mate. All demons knew when they found their mate, it was pure instinct and she was feeling it right now just by sitting next to him. But Kel didn't believe in crap like that because his kind was different. He may not like “tainted demons” for his own reasons, but she needed to force him to see past that long enough to see that they belonged together. She didn't care if he hated the rest of her kind, as long as he cared about her. She needed to take a different approach with him…
“Kel…” she said taking his hand off the gear shift and using her other hand to turn his face towards her. When their eyes met, Mia shifted her body to straddle his lap in the driver's seat.
“What are you doing?” Kel said his eyes narrowing in suspicion. Mia ran a hand into his blazer, allowing it to roam over his hard chest.
“I believe you owe me a kiss, remember?” she whispered, her eyes never leaving his. Kel started back at her, unfazed by the reminder. Mia shivered when his clawed had grazed against her bare thigh. She pressed her body firmly against his, feeling him harden beneath her…he was a man after all. Kel growled deep in his throat. Mia noted that it sounded more lustful then it did threatening. She leaned her forehead against his, their lips barely brushing. Now that she was finally about to get what she wanted, she found that she was nervous. His eyes fell upon her lips when she bit them anxiously.
A wolfish smirk appeared on his face when he smelled her fear. “Why are you scared?” he asked, a hint of humor laced in his voice.
“I don't know…” she admitted shyly. He's never allowed her to be this close to him before, and she was beginning to regret her bold behavior. Kel was the most unpredictable man she had ever met in her life. She wasn't sure if he would kiss her or kill her, and frankly, the suspense was too much to bear. She suddenly felt like the little girl he called her only moments ago. She downed her head slightly, suddenly in need of a distraction, which she found in his tie. She looped her fingers around the silky material and caressed it. She could still feel Kel's piercing gaze drilling into her. If it were any other guy, she would have found the balls to kiss him already, but for the first time in her life she found that she was scared.
Then, she heard Kel chuckle. She lifted her head to glare at him. What the hell was he laughing about? This was supposed to be a serious moment! She was on the verge of opening her mouth to call him a jerk, when he gripped her chin and crushed his lips to hers.
Mia was in shock. “H-he kissed me!”
Slowly, the shock wore off as he eyes drifted close. Her grip around his tie tightened when he titled his head, deepening the kiss. His hand cupped her check, bring her closer to him. His tongue made its way into her mouth, teasing hers to come out and play. The kiss went from gentle to rough very quickly. Kel dominated her mouth as the kiss intensified. Mia wrapped her arms around his neck as his hands ran up the length of her thighs. She moaned into the kiss. She could already feel herself getting wet; she didn't want this to end. She bit his lip gently, pulling away to trail kisses down his neck, loosening his tie as she ventured lower. Kel's hand delved beyond the slit and slipped between her legs while the other brushed against the nipple of her covered breasts.
She didn't know what had gotten into him, but she wasn't about to tell him to stop. She felt him harden even more against her inner thigh and grinded her core into his. Kel hissed in pleasure, his head buried in the curve of her neck. She felt him trail open-mouth kisses along her neck, his fangs scraping her flesh. The sensation felt wonderful and only served to turn her on more. She continued to rock against him when she felt his fingers slipping into her panties.
“Kel!” she threw her head back and screamed in pleasure when his fingers penetrated her just as he sank his fangs into her neck. Mia's eyes rolled into the back of her head as she dug her claws into his bare back. She had managed to sneak her hands underneath his clothes during their make out session, which were now stained in blood.
Kel removed his fangs from her neck and licked the wound until it healed. His fingers stilled inside her as his entire body tensed.
“What's wrong?” Mia asked turning to get a look of his face, but he kept it hidden in her neck.
“Kel…?” she said, his silence worrying her. She placed her hand on his cheek and lifted his face towards her. “What's wron—” Mia froze.
His eyes were pitch black with red and purple veins surrounding it, and his skin was pale white. His sharp fangs were longer then usually and looked menacing still stained in her blood. He looked just like he did that day in the classroom when they attacked Ace. For a second, Mia found that she was actually afraid of him, but unable to scream.
A vicious growl suddenly ripped from his throat and he pushed her away from him, back into the passenger side seat. Her back collided with the door handle just as she heard the car door open and slam shut. When she opened her eyes, Kel was gone. She looked around, her eyes scanning the darkened landscape when she spotted him leaning against a tree in the distance.
“What the fuck just happened?” she whispered to herself, unsure of what to do next…
