Chapter 21: House Jam
Chase's P.O.V
The house was like a mansion. After a 10 minute drive along a dirt road, lined on both sides with nothing but trees, Chase pulled up to a tall iron gate. The gate was already opened as the long line of cars drove up the long, stone spiral driveway with a large water fountain in the middle. Not far from the main house stood, what Chase assumed to be, the pool house which was a mansion in itself. A luxurious pool filled the gap between the pool-house to the main house in the back yard, the size almost equivalent to that of a football field. The entire property was filled with beautiful flowers and rare roses; hell, their pool even came with its own waterfall and built-in bar, stools and all. There was even a separate garage with a variety of expensive cars and motorcycles that probably cost more then the house.
“Nice place,” Chase scoffed as they parked. “Giving all this crap up is gonna be a bitch.”
“What do you mean?” Sage asked from the passenger seat, unbuckling her seatbelt.
“Nothing,” Chase lied. He and Kel had agreed to not fill the girls in on their plan for this world just yet, or at least until they figured out what was going on. Something told him they weren't going to take it well anyways, so there was no harm in keeping them in the dark a little while longer.
“Dude, where are you?” Chase sent out to his brother.
“Mingling, you?” Kel replied.
“Just got here, boss man in the house?” Chase asked as he stepped out of the car and over to Sage's door.
“I think they're having some kind of meeting, I haven't seen any of them yet. We're by the pool in the back.”
“On our way,” Chase replied, closing the link.
Sage stepped out of the car and looked around. The place was packed. The music could be heard loud and clear from the driveway, it made her not want to go in.
“Do I have to?” she whined pouting up at Chase.
“Although you're cute when you pout, the answer is still yes,” he said grabbing her hand and making his way towards the house.
Sage blushed at his comment but immediately forced it down, not wanting to get caught up in her feelings again. Chase glanced at her from the corner of his eye. Even though she had agreed to yet another deal with him, she's been quiet since their heated moment in the back seat, which he purposely ruined. He had actually regretted his actions after seeing how upset it made her to the point of tears. At the time, he didn't think it was a big deal, but figured his teasing wasn't the extent of the problem. But now he had no choice but to be nice to the bitch, which was easier said then done. Chase knew he was an asshole, it was simply who he was through and through, but toning it back might be a bigger challenge then he thought.
As they made their way into the house, the aroma of alcohol and weed assailed his sensitive nose. The place was packed with demons, humans and half-breeds alike, all drinking, dancing and prancing around on crack, literally and figuratively. The place was fucking huge. Drunken teenagers high off their asses were seen either making out on the couch, fucking against the wall, blowing coke on the dining room table, or skinning dipping in the Jacuzzi, of which there were at least eight of. Others were sneaking off up stairs or by the pool. Girls were running around in bikinis, some even naked, and beer bottles were scattered across the floor throughout the house.
“I hope he's got maids,” Chase muttered to himself. He was actually surprised by how loud the music was, considering that most of the guests were demons with sensitive hearing. He felt like his ear drums would burst any second, even the windows were vibrating as sounds of glass were heard clinking together. Chase felt Sage move in closer to his side, her grip tightening in his hand as she dodged a couple of guys running past her with a keg. She released a tired sigh. She didn't want to be here. Chase knew that she and Scar weren't exactly Facebook friends, so he understood why she would be uncomfortable crashing one of his parties. But he wasn't planning on staying long.
Chase led them towards the floor length glass door leading outside to the pool, but his path was suddenly blocked.
“You two dating now?” Mark said as he stood with his arms crossed, a deep scowl staining his face.
Chase acknowledged the demon with distain. “Not this fool again, how many times do I have to break his fucking hand to get him to fuck off?”
“Move or be moved,” he stated calmly.
“Is that a threat?” Mark smirked taking a step forward.
“No, just stating a fact,” Chase replied evenly.
“Back off Mark,” Sage intervened. “You're just gonna get your ass kicked again.”
“Answer my question, you dating this guy?” he repeated, never taking his eyes off Chase.
Chase flashed Sage his most dashing smile. “Yeah baby, answer him.”
She resisted the urge to roll her eyes. Leave it to Chase to make this into yet another game of “who has the bigger dick”.
“Yes, we're together.”
“Bullshit,” Mark laughed. “You're talking to a demon here sweetheart; I can smell your lies from a mile away.”
“Shit, I forgot about that,” Chase thought. “Guess we gotta make it look more convincing.”
As he opened his mouth to tell Mark to `blow him' in the nicest way possible, he was suddenly jerked to the side as Sage grabbed the collar of his jacket, yanked him down and kissed him.
He was stunned for a moment before allowing his eyes to drift close and return the kiss fervently. She tiptoed and wrapped her arms around his neck, deepening the kiss. Their tongues battled for dominance, exploring every contour of the other's mouth. He would never admit it aloud, but kissing the witch has officially become his favorite pass time…well, aside from feeding on her that is. He tilted his head to put more pressure into the kiss, his fangs nipping her bottom lip gently as he drew her tongue into his mouth. Chase slide one arm around her waist and pulled her flush against his body, allowing his hand to roughly squeeze her ass, forcing a small moan from her lips. After a few more seconds, they parted, both ignoring the growl that slipped from Mark's throat.
“I can't believe you chose this guy over me!” Mark growled at her.
“I didn't choose anyone over you, Mark…” Sage said her eyes still glazed as she wrapped her arms around Chase's waist for show. “We were never together to begin with.”
Chase smirked at the demon as he turned and stomped away. “What a Barbie,” he laughed. “Anyone ever tell you that you have bad taste in guys?”
“Apparently, since I'm with you now,” She shot back cheekily.
“Oh you're so funny,” he rolled his eyes. “C'mon.”
Kel's P.O.V
“Lord, give me the strength not to kill her,” Kel thought as Mia downed another shot. She was currently on her 5th Jell-o shot since arriving at the party and has yet to display any signs of intoxication.
“She can hold her liquor, I'll give her that much.”
“Wanna take a body shot off me?” Mia asked smirking mischievously up at him. Kel glanced at her with a stoic look.
“I think I'll pass, thanks,” he replied his eyes roaming the area. They were standing near the pool in the back yard. The entire area was lit with tinkling lights to illuminate the darkness. A large D.J booth was set up near the pool house, blasting music at an ungodly level. People swarmed all over like flies, cannon balling into the pool, consuming large quantities of alcohol straight from the bottle and dancing. The smell of different drugs assaulted Kel's senses, everything from weed to acid, burning his eyes and nostrils. His eyes then shifted to Mia seeing her swaying softly to the sound of the music, her senses seemingly unaffected by the atmosphere around her.
“She must be use to this,” Kel thought as she smiled brightly up at him.
“Let's dance,” she said hugging him around the waist.
“I told you, we need to look for Chase and Sage,” he replied trying in vein to shrug her off.
“I'm sure they'll find us,” she insisted. “Besides, this is what couples do.”
He blinked down at her, looking as bored as ever. “Pleaseeee, you don't even have to do anything,” she pouted batting her eyes.
“If I don't have to do anything then why do I have to go?” he asked logically.
“Because that's what boyfriends do,” she replied as if it were common sense.
“Your customs are foolish,” he replied evenly still making no move towards the dance floor. “And need I remind you that this relationship is merely for show?”
“Yeah, yeah, whatever you say,” she ignored. “C'mon, I like this song!” she announced when Hold You by Gyptian began to play. She dragged Kel to the dance floor, his protest being drowned out by the music. She then pushed him up against the nearest wall and positioned herself in front of him, her back to his chest. Slipping one arm back around his neck, she started to move her hips to the beat, grinding her ass into his groin. Her movements were slow and provocative as she moved against him. Kel instinctively gripped her hips, holding her in place as she grinded on him. He hissed sharply when she brushed against his growing erection. He suddenly found it difficult to concentrate as she pressed her body closer to his, boldly moving his hand herself to rest between her inner thigh underneath her dress.
Kel growled warningly in her ear. This wasn't the place for this. The sound vibrated through her body and sent heat pooling between her legs. Kel could feel the heat radiating through her panties on his hand, since it was a mere touch away. Mia continued to move her body seductively against his, snaking her other hand around to massage his hardened cock through his jeans. Kel dug his claws into the soft flesh of her thigh in warning, drawing blood.
“Behave yourself,” he whispered sternly in her ear, although his voice held a slight rasp as if strained. Mia turned her body around to face him, placing one knee between his and wrapping both arms around his neck.
“You're no fun,” she pouted cutely up at him, her body still swaying sexually to the beat. “Why don't we go somewhere more private and—”
“Does the meaning of the phrase “behave yourself” completely escape you?” he asked with an irritated sigh.
“Talk,” she finished quirking an eyebrow. “Don't be a pervert.”
“Talk about what,” he practically hissed losing his patience.
“My, my, someone sounds sexually frustrated,” Mia said with a cat-like grin. “When was the last time you got laid?”
“You're annoying me,” Kel growled lowly, his eyes narrowing into slits.
“I'm not trying to,” she whispered inching closer to his lips. Kel watched her with hooded eyes. He wanted to kiss her again. He couldn't deny his attraction towards her anymore, but that didn't mean he was okay with it. Whenever he was around her he felt a strange connection, and it bothered him…it was completely unacceptable for a tainted creature such as herself to have any kind of effect on him. He couldn't stop the rush of anger that bubbled to the surface upon knowing that this woman, no, girl, held such power over his emotions and had the ability to cloud his judgment in a way he had never experienced in his entire existence.
And her constant clinginess and ability to throw herself at him like a bitch in heat at any given moment did little to help the situation. He couldn't think around her, and that didn't sit well with him. Even if he chose to accept the whole “soul-mate” theory, there was no way in hell this girl was his. They were complete opposites; she was clearly not his type. Mia slowly began to run her hands down his chest to the hem of his shirt. But as she began to glide her delicate fingers over his bare skin, he swiftly caught her hands in his, his eyes flashing black. He turned her around and slammed her into the wall behind him, his body shielding them from peering eyes. He leaned in close to her, one hand bracing on the wall beside her head. Mia stared at him wide-eyed, stunned by his sudden mood-swing.
“Listen closely bitch,” he gritted out his voice low and threatening. “I'd like to think that I've been fairly nice to you for the night, haven't I? Not only did I agree to take you to your Homecoming, but I danced with you and tolerated your overbearing clinginess all. fucking. night.” He gritted out between clenched teeth.
“Kel, I don't under—” Mia began.
“Do I sound like I'm finished?” he snapped silencing her immediately.
“Now, I'm going to tell you exactly what's going to happen from here on out,” he continued. “First, you're going to act like you're not a whore for more then five fucking minutes and grow some maturity because I'm not in the business of fucking little girls.”
His claws dug into her wrist causing her to wince. “Second, we don't belong together. I'm not your fucking boyfriend and I'm certainly not your fucking mate. Once I do what I came here for you're never going to see me again, do you get that?” he ranted moving in closer to her.
“I just—” Mia tried to say again.
“And lastly, I don't fucking want you. You tainted demons disgust me, you have no idea how beneath me you truly are. What happened between us before was a minor lapse in judgment on my part and it meant nothing. Do you understand me? It was a mistake,” he growled harshly at her, the words flowing out of his mouth before he could stop them. It didn't feel like a mistake at the time, but he couldn't bring himself to accept that right now. Hurting her gave him back the control he felt slipping away from him while in her presence. Kel watched as Mia gazed unblinkingly at him. When she finally did blink, her eyes misted over with glossiness. He could already smell the salt in her tears. This would be his second time making her cry as he felt the familiar feeling of guilt clutch at his chest.
“No, I refuse to feel bad for this shit,” he thought turning away before the first tear drops fell and streamed down her face. He then spotted Chase over the crowd and made his way over to him, leaving Mia in tears on the dance floor.
Sage's P.O.V
“God this place fucking stinks,” Chase scowled crinkling his nose as he moved through the crowd, Sage close behind.
“What did you expect?” she asked trying to keep up.
“I don't fucking know, maybe something sanitary and a little less nasty …is that cum?” he asked directing her attention to the white sticky substance dripping down a nearby wall.
“Remind me again why I'm here?” she asked for the umpteenth time that night.
“Because you enjoy basking in my glorious presence,” Chase answered with a cocky smirk.
“Uh huh,” she mumbled dryly, rolling her eyes.
“Finally…” Chase muttered seeing Kel approach them. “Did you fucking get lost? Cause last I checked the pool was that big square thing outside filled with water and other unknown fluids.”
“Where's Mia?” Sage asked looking over Kel's shoulder hoping to spot her friend.
“Do I look like her fucking keeper?” Kel snapped at the witch. Sage, slightly taken aback by his outburst, snorted loudly.
“It was just a fucking question Kel and a pretty damn good one considering she came with you,” she countered hotly taking a step forward.
Kel's ocean blue eyes darkened as he glowered down at the witch, growling low in his throat before taking a threatening step forward. Sage took a small step back on reflex.
“Woe, what the hell is your problem?” Chase demanded placing a hand on Kel's chest, halting his advance and pushing him back slightly. He stood between the two, blocking Kel's path to Sage.
Kel turned his glare onto Chase for a split second before realizing his mistake. He ran a hand wearily down his face, allowing some of the tension to leave his body.
“Sorry, long day…” he said with a dejected chuckle. Chase eyed his brother for a moment before clasping a hand down on his shoulder.
“Did you eat?” he asked his tone heavy with concern.
“I'm fine,” Kel insisted with a hesitant smile.
Sage watched the two interact with curiosity. Sometimes she forgot they were brothers. Whenever she saw them together they were either threatening someone's life or bickering amongst themselves. But watching the concern on Chase's face for his little brother's well-being at that moment made her realize how close the two really were. She half expected Kel to knock away his brother's hand and call him a dumbass, in which Chase would reply that Kel was acting like he had grown a vagina and should man the fuck up, but it was the opposite. Kel had yet to shrug off Chase's hand and seemed somewhat comforted by it. It made her realize that there was still much she has yet to learn about them and their history, all of which remained a mystery.
“I'm gonna go find Mia,” She announced softy before making her way into the crowd, deciding that the two needed some privacy.
Chase's P.O.V
He watched as Sage disappeared into a swarm of sweaty, drunken mortals. An unsettling sense of loneliness surged through him at the loss of her presence, but quickly brushed it off and turned his attention back to Kel.
He nodded his head towards his brother to follow as he made his way towards a poorly lit hallway near what appeared to be the basement entrance.
“What's the matter?” Chase asked his expression serious.
“I can't do this shit anymore Chase,” Kel growled turning away from his brother to pace the floor. “I'm fucking going insane here, I can't concentrate because of this bitch, my mind feels fucking disoriented like I'm on some kinda fucking freaky fucked up acid trip, I can't—”
“Enough!” Chase replied sternly, silencing him as a couple of girls walked pass them giggling. “You need to pull your shit together for the mission, you still remember the mission don't you?”
“Don't patronize me,” Kel hissed his eyes narrowing dangerously.
“Listen to me,” Chase demanded, his voice taking on a low growl. “You don't think I know what you're going through? Cause incase you forgot, I am right fucking there with you. But we're here for a reason, and the sooner we get this shit done the sooner we can deal with what's happening to us, alright?”
Kel gazed at his brother intently before releasing a long-suffering sigh. “I'm usually the voice of reason between us.”
“Yeah well you can have your fucking position back as soon as you pull your goddamn head outta your ass long enough to focus, cause I don't fucking want it,” Chase scoffed.
“Aw, are you two having a lovers quarrel?”
Both brothers turned to see Scar and Stefan approaching them.
“You boys aren't hiding, are you?” Stefan asked with a raised brow. “It's rude to not greet your host.”
Chase looked between the two demons before shooting off his most arrogant smirk. “Oh please forgive us; you see we aren't use to being around such a digesting environment that successfully manages to insult all five senses. We tried searching for you but we simply couldn't distinguish one god awful smell from the other, you all just blend in so well.”
Scar growled his face set in a deep snarl. Kel stepped forward, subtlety grinding the heel of his boot into Chase's foot. Chase hid his grimace well, resisting the urge to kick the little bastard in his nuts.
“What my brother means to say is that this is quite the party.”
“Enough with the pleasantries,” Scar interjected. “My brother wants to meet you.”
“I didn't realize we were so famous,” Chase replied grinning from ear to ear.
“Don't exaggerate your importance, I assure you this is merely a formality,” Stefan added. “Kai must be familiar with every demon who takes up residence in his territory.”
Chase rolled his shoulders, shoving his hands casually into his jean pockets. “Well since it seems like we don't have much of a choice—”
“You don't,” Stefan replied sternly.
“Lead the way then,” Kel replied before Chase had the chance to throw in one of his witty and inappropriate come-backs.
After shooting Chase one last glare, Scar and Stefan turned to lead the way.
“Let the games begin…” Chase sent Kel mentally as they were led up the main staircase which was off-limits to guest.
“You good to do this today?” Chase thought throwing his brother a sideway glance.
Kel shot him a pointed look as if saying, “Don't ask stupid questions”.
“Whatever bitch, just checking. Don't want you having your period all over the man's Persian white carpet.”
“Let's just get this over with…” Kel replied as the four approached a large, ceiling length, wooden oak door with gold trimmings. Scar didn't bother knocking as he turned the knob and pushed open the door, gesturing for the others to enter before stepping in himself, pulling the door shut behind him.
Sage's P.O.V
Sage pushed through the crowd in search of Mia. 10 minutes into the search and she felt in need of the world's longest shower. Sweaty and sticky bodies grinded against each other, brushing against one another in their alcohol and drug induced state. When she finally found Mia, she was sitting at one of the many bars stationed around the mansion, each lined with different fluorescent colored lights. This particular one was donned in blue and black lights, causing the white in her teeth to glow in the darkness surrounding them. Mia had five shot glasses filled to the rim with some sort of red and blue substance. By the time Sage reached her she had already down the first three and was starting in on the forth.
“Mia?” she said turning her around by the shoulder.
Mia turned her drunken gaze towards Sage; taking a total of five Mississippi's to recognize who it was standing in front of her.
“Sage! There you are, oh my god here!” she yelled excitedly before taking one of her own shot glasses and placing it in front of her friend. “You've got to try this, sooooo good!”
“Sweetie, how much did you drink?” Sage replied placing both hands firmly on her friend's shoulders to steady her when she nearly tipped off the rotating bar stool.
“Hmmm, I dunno like—like six…teen or something, iuno,” she slurred spilling some of the contents of the shot currently in her hand. “Drink, drink!”
“Mia, I think you've had enough. Did something happen between you and Kel?” she asked trying to pry the shot away from Mia's lips before she could down it.
Upon hearing his name, Mia scowled. “I dun wanna talk about him…he's—he's such a…a,” she stopped mid-sentence as her eyes began to water.
“Oh sweetie,” Sage wrapped her arms around her drunken Panther demon. “Let's get some fresh air, okay?”
Mia nodded before stumbling to her feet, leaning heavily on Sage for support. Sage swung Mia's arm around her shoulder and wrapped the other around her waist as they made their way out onto the Terrance. The fresh summer breeze blew around them, a welcoming escape from the stifling horde of bodies. Sage plopped Mia down onto the ledge of the fountain. She would have preferred situating her away from a pool of water but the benches were taken by a couple, too engulfed in their necking to notice their surroundings.
Mia quietly sobbed. Sage took a seat beside her, rubbing her back softly in the hopes of calming her down. She knew Kel must have done something to create this reaction in her friend. Mia was one of the most strong-willed women she had ever met, and to see her fall apart like this over a guy she barely knew…well that spoke volumes didn't it?
“Feel like talking about it?” she offered softly.
Mia wiped her tears and released a sad little laugh. “There's nothing to talk about, Kel pretty much covered it. God, I feel like such an idiot Sage…” her voice breaking as she stared up at the starry night sky.
“You're wrong— Hey look at me,” she demanded as Mia turned a watery gaze on her. “You are not an idiot, do you hear me? If Kel doesn't want what you have to offer then that's his fucking loss. He and his high horse can haul their asses back to hell.”
Mia allowed a small smile to grace her lips although it was obvious she didn't mean it.
“You need to show him you don't care,” Sage continued. “Or…you can make him jealous.”
Mia's head lifted at the suggestion, her expression indicating that she was listening.
“You make it too easy for him, you need to show him that you can move on just as easily as he can, and what better way to do that then with another guy,” Sage grinned her eyes sparkling with mischief.
“Isn't that a little…immature?” Mia asked skeptically.
“Yes it is,” she smirked devilishly, “Look at it as a test. If he gets jealous, then he has feelings for you.”
“And if he doesn't?” Mia questioned.
“Then you'll know he's not worth it, but at least you'll be able to say you tried, right?”
Mia remained quiet for a moment, thinking over the idea. To be honest, she didn't think Kel was the jealous type, but there was only one way to find out. She wiped a few stray tears from her checks and fixed herself, her demon blood helping her sober up a lot faster then your average human.
“Alright, I'll try it your way,” she agreed smiling at her friend. “Can't you just use your witch mojo to whammy him to stop being a dick?”
“If I knew how to do that I would have whammyed Chase weeks ago,” Sage quipped as the two laughed.
“Speaking of the spawns of Satan, where are they?”
“I dunno,” Sage replied with a shrug. “When I left them they were talking about what crawled up Kel's ass. Then I came looking for you.”
“How pissed do you think they'll be if we went and did our own thing?” Mia asked, standing to adjust her dress.
“Do we care?” Sage replied dryly.
An identical smile found its way onto their faces. “Nope,” they replied in union.
Chase/Kel's P.O.V
Their eyes scanned their surroundings. The room was so fucking huge it didn't even look like it was apart of the house. The ceiling was incredibly high and in the shape of a dome with ancient pictures of demons battling painted all over. It was like the sixteenth fucking chapel. The only furniture was a large round table with ten seats. They recognized all ten demons in the room, having seen them with Scar before. At the head of the table sat Kai, his stoic expression set in place.
“I swear the guy's smile muscles are non-existent,” Chase thought to Kel.
“He doesn't seem like the smiling type, but he is by far the most powerful one out of the ten,” Kel replied his gaze taking in each demon, assessing their strengths and weaknesses.
“Should we come right out and reveal ourselves?” Chase asked eagerly.
“Don't get ahead of yourself; let's just see how this plays out first.”
“Welcome,” Kai greeted, his voice as emotionless as his expression. Power emanated from his aura, demanding respect. Too bad Chase had half a mind to laugh. There was no doubt that the guy could put up a decent fight, but the end result would be the same.
“We should end this now,” he thought.
“Patience,” Kel replied shooting his brother a knowing look.
“Introduce yourselves,” the demon commanded in a tone that made Kel clench his fist in annoyance. It was like having a bacteria stand in front of him barking out orders. He spared his brother a glance, sensing his own agitation.
“Kel Williams, this is my older brother Chase,” he introduced them. “We're new in town.”
“Your auras are strange,” Kai replied as if never hearing them. “Who are you?”
“I told you already—” Kel began.
“I can smell your lies, I won't ask again.”
“Well shit, some of his power must be hidden. He's stronger then we thought,” Chase thought, retorting before Kel could stop him.
“We're higher beings from another world here to destroy you,” Chase blurted out calmly, the grin never faltering from his face. Kel slowing closed his eyes, shaking his head in disbelief. The room went silent, they were now receiving wide-eyed looks, whether it was because of what Chase said or who he said it to, they weren't sure. The only face that had remained emotionless was boss man himself, who hadn't even blinked.
“What the fuck did you just say?” Scar yelled outraged stepping up to Chase.
“So much for patience…” Kel thought with a sigh.
