Chapter Three: I'm In Love Again

Meanwhile elsewhere in America, Mia sitting in her sport car outside a school waiting for someone as the school's day comes to an end. As everyone rushes out to the buses, just as Mia gets out of her car and heads toward a girl. "Are you Amber Gustaf?" Mia speaks in a gentle calming voice. "Yes?" Amber just looks at Mia carefully. "Would you mind coming with me just for a little bit? I promise that I won't bite," Mia asks with a straight face, but her last comment makes Amber almost burst out laughing. "What would you want to talk to me about?" Amber holds herself from laughing. "Alex..." is all that Mia says and Amber nods her head and follows Mia to the car right away.
They drive to a small shop, 'Little Cafe' where they sit at a little corner. "My name is Mia Ureshima, Alex's former boss. I just wanted to ask you how much you love her," Mia says taking a sip of the coffee. "Very nice to meet you Miss Mia," Amber says quietly taking a sip of her cup of hot chocolate. "I really don't know how much I love her, but that's when I thought she was a man..." Amber says after a long pause. "I see..." Mia nods her head in understanding.
"Mia-san, Shuji-san has been trying to call you. Why aren't you turning your phone on?" a familiar voice comes to the girls. "Hey Alez," Mia waves her hand at the guy making his way towards her. Upon hearing the name, Amber mistaken it to be Alex so she turns her head around and look right away. Alez comes up to them and sits down next to Mia, but something about Amber that caught his attention. Amber herself just couldn't get her eyes off of him either, because he looks exactly like Alex but his voice is that of a manly vocal than Alex and that's the only thing different about him and Alex.
"Alez, this is Amber. Alex's friend..." Mia introduces them and they just smiles at each other. Although Amber shows more shyness towards Alez, as he just couldn't stop looking at her ocean blue eyes. The eyes that almost drowned Alex now drown Alez, and Mia just smiles at them in amusement. Then the discussion now turns into conversation about best places for this and best places for that, and the two just can't get their eyes off each other.
"My, it is getting late. I'll take you home then," Mia looks at her watch and gets up. "Oh yes, thank you for this opportunity." Amber gets up and holds her hand out and Mia takes it. "Mia-san, don't you have to go home and call Shuji-san back?" Alez hints her that he will take Amber home instead. "Ah, you're right. Um... Alez will take you home instead, I'm sorry..." Mia claps her hands together and excuses herself out before Amber can say anything. "Shall we?" Alez asks with no Asian accent whatsoever in his voice. "Thank you," Amber smiles and heads out with him behind her.
"Would you like to go out with me sometimes?" Alez asks as soon as he opens the door for Amber to gets out. "Sure," Amber blushes under the corner street light nearby. "Great, you better go in before your parents come out." Alez says smiling brightly. "Thank you again," Amber says before turning around and runs inside. He stands there and watches her closes the door before he gets into his car and drives off.
"Is that your boyfriend?" Erik asks her as soon as she comes into the kitchen. "What are you talking about, silly?" Amber ignores his question. "He doesn't look that bad, and he's nice enough to watch you get inside before he drove off," her father jumps in as he and Erik sit at the table ready for dinner. "You should invite him over for dinner sometimes," her mother says putting a plate of roast pork on the table. "I just met him today," Amber says, blushing a bit. "So it's love at first sight," her father says cutting the meat for everyone. "Did he ask you out again?" Erik sounds excited. Amber says nothing in reply to his question, but her mom can tell that the answer is yes.
"Did you say yes to him?" her mother asks. "What? How did you know?" Amber asks cleaning up the table as her mom washes the dishes. "It's written on your face, honey. It's not that hard to read you," she laughs lightly. "Wow... I'm that easy to read?" Amber says to herself. "So, did you give him your phone number?" her mom continues. "Ack! I say yes but I forgot to tell him my number." Amber gasps. "How do you expect the boy to call you, if you don't give him your number? He might think that you're trying to play him," her mom turns around and looks at her.
Just then the phone rings, Amber picks up. "Hello?" "Miss Amber?" the voice of a guy comes over the other line. "Speaking," Amber holds her breath. "This is Alez, can I take you out for dinner tomorrow?" he asks her charmingly.
"Who is it?" her mom asks her. "It's him," Amber whispers. "What did he says?" her mom looks at her. "He wants to take me out for dinner tomorrow," Amber replies. "Say yes," her father and little brother say walking into the kitchen together.
"Miss Amber?" "Yes?" Amber put a finger up to her lips to hushes everyone else. "Would seven be good?" he asks. "Seven is great," Amber smiles. "Alright, I'll pick you up at seven sharp then." Alez says and bid her goodnight before he hangs up on her.
Just as he says, Alez is there at seven dressing in khaki, and long sleeve shirt tucked in. Erik opens the door and studies him carefully, and so does her father and mother. "Hi, my name is Alez and I'm here to take Miss Amber out for dinner." Alez says bowing at them slightly. Amber comes running down in a pretty sleek black pant and white blouse, and her hair is neatly tied back.
"Bring her back before ten," her father says to him. "Yes sir," Alez nods his head. "Treat her well," Erik whispers to him. "I'll do my best," he chuckles. "I'm ready," Amber blushes looking at Alez. "You two have fun," her mother says as they step outside. "Um, we're just going out for dinner..." Amber says to them. "We know dear," her father winks at her. "What was that suppose to mean?" Amber murmurs as she sees Alez holding the door open for her.
They come to a small Japanese restaurant, and greeting them is a hostess dressed in lovely midnight blue kimono. "What would you like tonight?" the hostess asks Alez softly as she shows them their table in a private little room. "Since its cold outside, I think oden for a start then something else later." Alez says gently to the hostess as he sits down on his knees besides the table. "Yes, sir. Would you also like some drinks as well?" she ask bowing at him. "Hot tea please," Alez smiles as Amber too tries to sits like him.
"Oh, you can sit cross legged. Unless you want me to carry you out afterward," Alez teases her. Amber just blushes brightly at his comment and sits the way she knows that won't constrain her legs to go numbs. Dinner is good, she never have oden before. The mood is just right and Alez is a total gentlemen, he talks little about his work with Mia. Mostly he's more interest in her schooling and thoughts about things, but he knows to give her space on things as well.
"Would you like to come over to my place for some treats?" he asks as they left the restaurant. "Um..." "It's near here, and I promise not to bite." Alez kid as they drive down the street. "Okay..." Amber nods nervously. Alez smiles brightly as he slows down and stops in front of a little house far from other houses. He opens the door and leads her to the house, it is a little cold and quiet when he turns the lights on. The room looks bare and plain, just white and no other color to it everything is in white.
The only thing that stands out are two stack of books on the table, Amber sits down and read one of the title as Alez went to get some tea and treats. "Taboos," she reads the one nearest to her. "Sorry about the books," Alez says almost makes Amber jumps. "Oh no, it sounds interesting." Amber's face turns bright red. "It talks about a couple from two different worlds falling in love, but never gets to marry because of their family and the taboo in their relationship. They decided to commit suicide in order to be together in the next life, sadly he was born a generation ahead of her. The taboo in their relationship is that they are not meant for each other, and no matter how hard they tried nothing will work out." Alez sighs sitting down besides Amber.
"I think they should just marry and live out their own lives instead of worrying about what their families want," Amber says looking down at her hands resting in her lap. "But if he married her, she will not live long..." Alez leans over and looks at her. "But then they both die anyway," Amber looks up at him. "He will kill her if she married him," Alez whispers. "Why?" Amber can't stop looking into his eyes. "Because... he's a vampire..." he pauses. “He can make her just like him then," she replies feeling him close to her. “It's against the law of vampire to make a mortal into vampire," he is now about two inches from her. "What's wrong with making the one you love into one like you?" Amber becomes a bit stubborn. "Because the true blood seeks the not true blood out and kills it," Alez whispers to her and she can feel the warmth of his breath on her cheeks.
Her face are now beet red as he leans in and plant a kiss on her lips, and unconsciously she parts her lips to kisses him back. Their lips are lock on each other, and for a quiet moment that seems like an eternity it was as though they have known each other for a long time. Somewhere in Amber's mind, all she thinks about is Alex and this Alez looks just like the Alex that she comes to like when they first met. Suddenly Alez pulls away, Amber are surprises and open her eyes to see him look somewhat cold and a little jealousy in his eyes.
Then nothing else are say, after a long moment of silent he decides it's time to take her home and she didn't object to it. Her family is still awake when she comes back, and they pry on her about her date with him but she didn't say anything and went to bed. She just couldn't figure out why he becomes so cold to her all of a sudden like that.
"All she's thinking about is Alex; I'll just have to eliminate Alex forever then..." Alez says angrily to himself. "Are you jealous that Alex leaves a more charming impression on the girl than you did?" Mia's voice rings in his ears. "I'm just following the law and kill those that are not pure-bred." Alez says wryly. "Oh please, you lied to the girl about the boy in the story was a vampire. Truly Alez, you are jealous. That's what loving someone is like, so deal with it. As both you and I know, that couple are now finally born into the same generation. It's just that he is now a she, and she is still a she..." Mia says standing besides Alez now.
"I will take everything away from that girl, and let Alex see her after what I did to her. I'll make them suffer..." Alez laughs coldly. "I'm sure Alex will snap you in half afterward," Mia rolls her eyes. "By the way, does that kiss taste good?" Mia turns to leave. "Yes, it was..." Alez stops and blushes hard. "I see..." Mia giggles and left. "I always steps into her little trap," Alez smacks his forehead and sighs.
