Chapter Two: An Offer From Oversea
"Alex, someone wanted to meet you..." Mia calls to Alex just as soon as the girl steps into the building. "Huh?!" Alex blinks staring at Mia confusingly. "He says his name is Alez (Alex), but his is a `z' and not `x' like yours." Mia giggles slightly. "Uh... what does that have to do with me?" Alex asks uninterestingly. "Why don't you ask him?" Mia says pointing over to her right at the chair not far from them.
A young man in his early twenties looks exactly like Alex and dressing the same style. It is as though they were twins. "I don't think I have a twin," Alex says as she and the young man looks at each other. "I'm the only child in my family," Alez says with a little Asian accent, almost Japaneseish. "Well, I'm the youngest of five. Please to meet you," Alex laughs lightly and bows her head slightly at him. "Please to meet you too," Alez did the same as Alex.
"So what would you want to talk about?" Alex looks at him straight in the eyes. "I like you to come to my homeland, to train in our language..." Alez pauses for a moment. "Your reason would be?" Alex says with a little more interest in her voice. "To help my cousin; Shuji, looking after a company there, Mia-sama gives you high recommendation on this oversea chances," he says. "How long do I have to think this offer over?" Alex asks calmly, but completely excited inside. "Until you graduate this coming month," he answers her simply. "Thank you, now if you excuse me. I must get to work," Alex bows again and left.
"I do not think you would like her," Mia says to Alez. "I don't," Alez admits. "Then why would you want her?" Mia raises an eyebrow at him. "She's a partial vampire, thus she is not welcome in our family. If she proof to be useful, then she can stay alive a little longer." Alez says coldly. "And Shuji-san would be very unhappy if he finds out that you turned her into a vampire," he gives her a sharp look. "You will be very dead if you ever speak of it again," Mia stares at him coldly. "Temper... temper..." he chuckles nodding his head in understanding her threat.
"Would you like to come in?" Amber asks getting off the bike. "It's okay, maybe some other times..." Alex smiles taking off the helmet. "The weather is getting colder, so wear something warm okay?" Alex smiles charmingly. "Mm..." Amber nods her head slightly. "Don't let what other people says get you down, because there's always someone out there care for you. Besides, you'll find a guy that would just love you for you." Alex smiles and put her helmet back on. "Bye..." she gives a little waves and speeds off, leaving Amber there wondering why she says such things.
"Why would he say that I would find a guy who loves me for me?" Amber murmurs, walking up to her house. "It's been a couple of months now, and he knows that I love him. So why would he says that?" she just couldn't figure it out for days to come, so she decides to look up Alex's number and call to ask. When she calls, a woman's voice answers the phone.
"Hello?" a somewhat cute voice comes over the receiver. "Um... is Alex there?" Amber feels her face getting hot from anger. "Alex? Is your name Amber?" the voice asks. "Um... yes," Amber replies nervously. "Would you like to meet me tomorrow's morning at the garden square?" the voice asks calmly. "Yes, would eight be fine with you?" Amber says without realizing what she says. "That will be fine then, I'll see you then." That is all to her little investigate, but it keeps her up all night trying to figures out who this woman to Alex.
"You're Amber, I presume..." Tab stands there by the fountain say with a little smile on her lips. "Yes... and you're..." Amber nods her head as they shakes hand. "I'm Tabby, Alex's roommate." Tab replies and Amber gives out a sighs of relief. "Alex, she graduated three days ago. She also packed up and left for oversea job already," Tab says. "So Alex is a she?" Amber was shocks at the news. "Yes, she doesn't look like one but she is. I'm sorry," Tab nods her head. "No, don't be. Actually I'm a little suspicious when he… I mean she always keep her distance and all that..." Amber manages a smile.
"So when will she be back?" Amber asks with a little hope in her voice. "Um... I'm not sure... she didn't says anything about coming back," Tab answers after a long thoughtfully pause. "I just wanted to tell her that she's very gentlemen for a girl," Amber giggles and Tab joins in on it. "Yeah, she always is..."
"Are you Alex?" a middle-aged man in tux asks Alex as she gets off the plane. "Yes," Alex bows lightly. "I got order from the main house to pick you up," he bows at her. "Very nice to meet you then," Alex smiles, although she has no clue what is going on. She follows the man to the black sedan, and he puts her things away as she climbs into the back seat. He starts the engine and pulls away from the parking lot, and drives her to a very large closed old wooden gate not far outside of Tokyo City.
"Your first day will be introduction to some of the people in the Ureshima household that you will be working with and for. Please follow me," he says opens the door for Alex. "Yes sir," Alex nods her head getting out of the car and almost drops her jaw seeing the huge house in front of her. It is like a city of its own; the main house is huge and is surrounded by smaller houses. Although the way the houses are built are the old style, yet the houses itself doesn't looks old at all.
"Shuji-sama, the person Alez-sama sent has arrived." "Let him in," a young man in his mid-twenties says sitting in front of a low table with another young lady besides him. Alex enters and the girl just stares at her blankly, while the young man studies her closely with his sharp brown eyes. "Please to meet you, Shuji-san." Alex bows her head to keep her eyes from staring right at him. In this country, it is rude to stares at people but it doesn't stop the other girl from staring at Alex.
"You must be Alex that Alez talked about, and may I ask how is Mia-dono doing?" the young man says smoothly. "Mia-san is doing well, though she did talk about you quite a lot. Shuji-san," Alex finally looks up at him. "I do hope it is not something bad," he finally shows a little smile at her. "Not at all, many praises instead." Alex shakes her head lightly. "I see..." Shuji pauses for a moment. "Oh, this is Yuki. She will be training you in learning the language, family rules here, and also the rope at work. Just follows her order and you'll be fine, I'm sorry if Alez treated you unfairly." Shuji says pointing at the girl next to him and she just smiles at Alex.
"No, he has the right to not like me. After all, I am not born into this but become this by accident," Alex says with a straight face. "Yes, that is true but he still doesn't have to be so unkind to you. It is not of your choice, and you are the first one to steps into this house as well. Just keep up with things and be yourself," Shuji gets up and smiles a kind smile at Alex. "Thank you, Shuji-san." Alex bows again. "Just call me senpai instead of san, you're making me sounds old." Shuji says jokingly. "Uh... yes Shuji-senpai..." Alex repeats. "Yuki-chan, she's yours..." Shuji smiles down at the girl that's now just getting up. "I'll see you later then, Shuji-sama." Yuki bows her head at him.
She dressed in light blue dress, her silky black hair flows down her back smoothly, her creamy skin looks almost pale, and her brown eyes looks as though it can speaks. "It is nice to meet you, Alex-san." Yuki says and sounds almost funny because her English wasn't all that clear. "Ah, it is very nice to meet you too." Alex bows slightly.
"As you know, this is our homes. We are allowed to interact with mortals, but not allowed to wed one or fall in love with one. We wanted to keep our existence as much of a myth to them as possible," Yuki speaks softly with some problems with certain words. "We have come to existence since the dawn of mankind, but we were born way before that. It is natural for them to be afraid of something they do not understand, for we are far more superior than they can ever be. Soon we become merely legend and myth to them, but making us sounded like monsters. We do not afraid of the sun, silver bullets, or even garlic. We eat and sleep just like they do, it's just that we have abilities that they can never have." Yuki shakes her head talking about things that Alex doesn't even know about.
"It is true that humans are merely aware of anything besides their own existence, ignorant comes in the masses of it." Alex just chuckles and Yuki just laughs lightly about her view of the world. "Do you see the world that way when you're a mortal too?" Yuki asks her. "Yes, thus my friends called me the living dead among the living." Alex laughs about it and Yuki just giggles. "Well, Alex-san. I think we'll get along just find, but there are things needed to be done. Let us make haste," Yuki stops laughing and straighten her face at Alex before heading out. "Yes ma'am," Alex nods and follows behind Yuki.
"Ma'am, Ryo-sama says he won't be back for a while. If you need to go somewhere, you can take his bike," the butler says to Yuki as she and Alex come to the outdoor parking lot. "How does he expect me to drive that thing wearing a dress?" Yuki sounds irritate. "Shall I take the family car?" he bows at her. "Um... do you have the keys and two helmets to it?" Alex asks looking at the butler. "Ah yes..." he replies looking at Alex and hurry away to retrieve the keys and helmets. “Thank you," Alex takes the keys and helmets and hands one to Yuki.
"Just point me the direction and we'll get there," Alex says putting on the helmet and gets on the bike. "I am sorry for the inconvenient," the man says. "Ohhh... fine! Just tell him that I'll kill him when I see him," Yuki puffs angrily and gets on behind Alex. Alex starts the engine; shift in gear and off they goes.
"Here we are, tomorrow we will starts the official training." Yuki says as they steps into a small apartment with a table and sofa in the living room. There is no TV, only a couple of computers and laptops around the room. "Official training?" Alex asks taking off her helmet and looks around the room. "Yes, we have the hard job of cleaning up the streets here in Tokyo." "Huh?!" Alex didn't get it at all. "Our job is to clean the streets from thugs, gangs, and drug dealers, etc." Yuki explains. "Oh, for a moment I thought I left my job back home to come here and work as a trash pick-up person." Alex shakes her head lightly and Yuki giggles.
