Chapter One: I Was In Love, Before I Know It
The day is finally over, and Mia is finally awake from her sleep. The rain, however did not lift, thus Alex have no choice but to agrees on letting Mia takes him home. Pulling up to the driveway, Mia leans over and kisses Alex on the cheek and smiles at him.
"See? I would take you home..." she giggles looking at him blushing. "How kind of you," Alex mocks her getting out quickly before something else happens. Slamming the door shut and runs to the door; he opens it quickly and heads inside. "You truly taste wonderful my prince..." Mia licks her lips and pulls her car out and heads home.
"You're late..." the girl from school says to him as soon as he closes the door behind him. “Can I help it? It's pouring mad and I have to wait for Mia to close up..." he pauses seeing his friend giving him the cold looks. "What?!" he said staring at her. "She still clings on to you, even after knowing everything about you?" she turns away to set the dishes out on the table. "She does not cling on me; we just happen to work together that's all..." he looks away. “We're having pasta tonight..." she ignores him. "Let me take a quick shower then..." he said heading for his room to get clothes for shower.
"I swear to god, you always lead people on before you tell them the truth about yourself..." the girl says eating her pasta. “It's not my fault that they think I'm just someone that I'm not just because of my looks..." Alex protested. "Right... if you didn't tell me, I would still think you're a guy and I might be very heartbroken right now..." she replies wryly at his comment. “Right..." Alex raises an eyebrow at her. "I'm serious... you totally look nothing like a girl..." "Geez, thanks for the comment..." Alex begins to sounds a bit ticked off there. "And there's no way you would be heartbroken... you would always fall for some guy that would break your heart sooner or later... so I'm not worry about you being heartbroken, since you're so use to it." Alex said irritated. "Hey! Just because I don't love you, doesn't mean you can just being mean to me!" she becomes angry. "Tab, I'm not picking on you, it's just your taste in men are to be questioned somehow..." Alex said coldly.
Silent befall upon them, and nothing more was discuss. Alex didn't seems to mind it one bit either, it's just that having opposite background from each other makes it hard for the both of them to not argue all the time. Tab is just a complete stubborn girl that doesn't apologize even if she's wrong, and Alex becomes a little annoyed by that. She herself begins to have doubt on their friendship; mainly being there for Tab can sometimes makes life really not worth living.
Meanwhile after school is over, Amber comes home quietly going to her room without saying anything to anyone. She did her homework, and still can't get her mind of that strange man. "Yo! What did you and your boyfriend did this morning that you're out of it now?" the little boy asked standing by the doorway. "Get out, Erik!" she turns around and snaps at him. "Oh... I see... I'm gonna tell mom that you give yourself away to that guy..." Erik smirks and runs off. "I did not!" she walks after him to the door and shouts out before slamming it shut.
"What is it about him that... makes me feel this way...?" Amber covers her face feeling it getting hot somehow. She then takes in a deep breath putting her hand on her chest, only then did she discover that her necklace is lost somewhere. "Oh no..." she looks around her room and almost turns the room upside down trying to find it only to no avail. "Maybe it's on my way to the fountain this morning?" she asks herself sitting on her bed. "I'll just have to look for it all the way there tomorrow morning then..." she sighs falling back on her bed and closes her eyes slowly.
Dinner come, nothing was being said. After that her father and brother went into the living room watching some TV, all the while she helps her mother washing the dishes. "So how is your meeting with that Moto boy?" her mother finally says after such long silent. "I don't know... he's mean as always... and a man I ran into earlier come and helped me out... so..." she stops. “So what happened?" her mother become somewhat curious about the whole new stranger making her daughter sounds so flusters. "I don't know... I ran off... so I don't know what happened to that man..." she put the dishes away. "This man, how old does he looks to you?" her mother turns and looks at her. "He looks around eighteen or so..." she says thoughtfully.
"So how do you call him a man? He's more like a boy than a man..." her mother laughs lightly. "He doesn't have the boyish looks though... he looks grown up, kind, gentle, and nice looking too..." Amber turns red just remembering the morning event of running into that man. "You seem to have more interest in this new boy than the Moto boy, maybe there's someone good out there waiting for you after all." Amber's mother smiles at her daughter before padding her back lightly in encouraging Amber to seek out this new stranger that makes her feels so flusters every time she thinks or talks about him.
Morning comes and it's just another one of those day, the usual after all it is the same routine Alex did everyday. Getting up early for a stroll to takes in the morning fresh air, the crispy air of the beginning of autumn to come, she heads for the fountain again in hopes finding Amber there to give her back the necklace. Her casual t-shirt, khaki pants, and walking with her hands in her pockets.
Amber gets up early and runs there, in hope of trying to find the necklace and not to be late in meeting with Tsubaki. She looks and looks but still can't find the necklace, but she is more relief that she's early and Tsubaki haven't shows up yet. Walking slowly to the fountain at a steady pace, Amber's heart almost jumps out of her when her view comes into focus seeing the man from yesterday there.
"Hi..." Amber stutters. "Oh hey," Alex looks up and smiles at the girl feeling somewhat a little strange. "Um..." Amber rubs the back of her neck nervously. "I was waiting for you, hoping that you would come..." Alex laughs lightly standing straight up showing how she's a little shorter than Amber when they stand close to each other. Amber didn't say anything only blushing and feeling her ears burning up.
"You dropped this yesterday," Alex said pulling out the necklace and holds it in front of her. "Thank you..." Amber holds her hand out to take it. "Why don't you sit down over there, and I'll put the necklace on for you." Alex suggested softly. Amber just nods her head and sits down on the bench nearby, silently looks down at her own hands resting on her lap. Feeling a little dry-mouth, Alex walks over and put the necklace around Amber's neck then steps away.
"Well, it is pleasant to see you again Miss Amber." Alex bows slightly. "Oh, the Mister Moto Tsubaki won't bother you again. He's being trained by the best on manners; his parents signed him up for training. So you needn't to worry about him anymore, may you have a good day then..." Alex said gently turning around and walks away. "Uh... may I know your name?" Amber calls after Alex. "My name is Alex, Alex Seto." Alex turns around and smiles at the girl.
"He's..." Amber murmurs to herself after Alex disappears from her sight. She sits there for a moment lost in her own thoughts before heading to school, dazing out all day through all the classes. Her friends sometimes asks wanting to know why she's so out of it today, but Amber just smiles only.
"Hello my prince," Mia purrs coming into the office smiling devilishly at Alex. "I'm not donating my blood today..." Alex said not even bother to look up. "I'm not here for that today my prince, I here to tell you to heads down to the basement with me. We have some more books to stacks up," Mia says leaning in close to Alex's face. "Okay... okay..." Alex sighs getting up trying to avoid touching Mia as much as possible.
They head down the dark stairs to the basement, so many floors down before they reach their destination. There are no lights here; only their flash lights shine into the darkness as tall shelves full of books standing in the silent. Mia holds the flash lights as Alex trying to put the books away as fast as possible, because being alone with Mia and in this dark part of the basement kind of spooks her out a little bit.
After a long time doing it, finally they manage to finish it up and Mia finds a lamp and lights it up. It's an old oil lamp, and lying next to it is a rusty book so old that the dusts cover it up in layers. "How old is this book?" Alex looks down at it asking Mia. "Hundred of years..." Mia replies. "Do you guys ever get people down here to clean this place up?" Alex continues on moving a finger across the book and look at the dusts on her finger. "No one really are allows in here besides family members," Mia says coming closer to Alex.
"Then I wish to not come down here again," Alex said coldly. "But you are part of my family my prince..." Mia purrs lightly. "Don't even go there with me..." Alex turns around and growls at Mia showing her almost what look like fangs shining in the little light. "Do you still hate me that much?" Mia reaches her hand out and rest on Alex's cheek. "I don't hate you; it's my fault for leading you on for so long..." Alex said looking away from Mia's gaze. "I was furious to learn that the man I fallen in love with turns out to be nothing but a girl. I wanted to punish you for it, by turning you into a creature that live forever and suffers the life of an immortal. I wanted you to wish that you died but you just can't..." Mia says softly pressuring her hand on Alex's face a bit forcing her to looks at Mia straight in the now shiny black eyes.
"I really don't mind that you're a girl..." Mia pauses for a moment waiting for Alex to say something. "I do, because you have a boyfriend and I don't want to get involve in your little game." Alex said dryly and calmly. "He's never around anyway," Mia says and place a kiss on Alex's lips and forces the girl into a long kiss. Gently biting her lower lip and let Alex taste it, she intent on making Alex want a bit of her blood too. "Mia..." Alex murmurs. "Take some of my blood..." Mia whispers to Alex pulling away from her.
A flash of thirst enters her now blood shocking eyes, her fangs ache to be uses and Mia's veins on her neck looks too tempting to not to. Alex grabs Mia's shoulders and bites down on her neck, sucking on the wonderful blood. The blood tastes delicious in Alex's mouth, but she's careful not to suck Mia's blood dries yet it feels so good and right somehow. Alex feels little heartbeats from Mia, and feeling her veins getting hot from the new source of blood that enters her body. All the while Mia closes her eyes slightly enjoying the feeling of having Alex's fangs digs into her neck, even her boyfriend never touches her before. Slipping her hands around Alex's back, Mia hugs her tightly feeling her warmth and heartbeats. After a few minutes, Alex pulls away and licks Mia's neck.
"Isn't it good?" Mia asks quietly. "A little too good..." Alex reply. Taking Alex's hand, Mia leads her down a narrow path until they reach a door. Upon unlocking the door, Mia pushes Alex inside and down on a bed. Lying on top of Alex, Mia hugs Alex tightly and they both fall asleep because of the darkness of the room. Alex didn't mind either, but in her mind she knows that she'll hate herself about this event when tomorrow comes.
"Where the hell have you been?!" Tab asks giving Alex the angry look. "Work," Alex replies smoothly ignoring her friend's look. "It's midnight, and you don't work until midnight. What did you and that crazy girl do?" Tab almost shouts at her friend. "First of all, Mia is my boss and she's very much sane for your info. Second of all, we didn't do ANYTHING!" Alex shouts and storms off to her room, slamming the door loudly behind her. "Fine! Be that way," Tab says angrily and heads for her room as well. "I only concerns about her and that's how she reacted..." Tab pouts about it and go back to sleep.
Once again the two strangers meet and talk for a little bit, and Alex just gives the girl her email for easy communication. They become a bit closer through the emails, but Alex knows to keep her distance and other ideas off. Mia though, on the other hand she knows everything there is to know about Alex's daily activities. So she would just use it to black mail Alex to go shopping or just being there with her for the fun of it. Mia knows full well that Alex hates going shopping, because she gets bore very quick on shopping spree with Mia or Tab.
One morning, Alex drops by Amber's place to pick her up for school. Sitting on her bike waiting for Amber to comes, Alex is fully in her usual clothes with a helmet on for protection. From inside the house, her brother, father, and mother all pull the blind up to take a peek at this stranger outside their house. They all wonder the same thing, 'Is that the Moto boy she has been with?'
"Sorry to make you wait," Amber say apologetically as she climbs on the back. "It's no biggy, put the helmet on." Alex shrugs handing Amber the extra helmet. "Although I get the feeling that everyone in your house is staring at me from inside," Alex continues as she shift in gear. "They're just curious of who you are," Amber giggles lightly holding onto Alex's waist as the bike moves forward.
All of Amber's friends are in awe seeing Amber being drop off by a biker, they just stare wide eyes as Amber gets off and the rider speeds off. "Hey, who is that?" one of her friends asks. "No one..." Amber gives them a small smile of mystery. "Your boyfriend? Tsubaki?!" another one pries. "Nope, much nicer..." Amber smiles' widen as she heads for class and leaves her friends behind to wonder.
