It's All About Being Prepared
The next few weeks were a flurry of activity for Tegan. She found an apartment, which she arranged to buy. Demetriov had made his intentions clear, so they would be staying put, at least as long as he thought she was here. Still she set up broadband access; if he decided to move on to make her chase him she might get a jump on him. She made a decision that she wouldn't be out on the streets every night. She would research and coordinate her attacks and plans from what was to become her home.

She then dealt with the horrendous paperwork that was required for her to get a visa to stay in the country. Getting deported would cause a lot of problems. She worried that what she was doing was going against what Stuart had wanted for her, but she didn't have it in her to keep running. That and the only way she was going to get rid of him in her mind would be to kill him. If she got to the others along the way, so much the better.

She researched through everything she could find about her predecessors. She researched all she could about the vampires that had come and gone over the years. In all her searching there was one thing that eluded her though. No matter how she tried, no matter how she dug through records and files, she could not work out who was her father. She wondered if Adam knew, but from what was known, he probably didn't know either. That was a secret that only Stuart and Demetriov knew, and Demetriov wasn't being forthcoming. Maybe she would never know, but at least she knew the truth.

She spent weeks obtaining detailed maps of the city, and plans of the mansion. She mapped out death hotspots, and tallied them with abandoned areas in the city. By day she trawled the streets looking over the places she researched, trying to find places she thought were hunting grounds, or places that may be of use to her as she tried to destroy them. Familiarising herself with the city became a common past time. She needed to know how to bolt to safety if needed, from anywhere she might be. Then came the weaponry she would need.

She had finally decided on a design. She had decided she wanted two blades. She didn't feel secure with just the one. She employed the services of a sword maker. She said she had fancied designing some blades of her own, being an enthusiast. He swallowed up the story and the money, no more questions asked. He was worried by the fact she wanted the blades to be coated in silver, it was such an unusual request. She smiled and stated that further work may be put his way if he managed to help her. She paid over the odds, so he had shrugged and left it at that.

She showed him the design. The blade would curve around the hand in a broad arc over the knuckles, the outer edge wickedly serrated. She wanted them to do as much damage as possible. They also had a small reverse point that covered the outside of the wrist, the design protecting the whole hand. She got the whetstone she would need as apart of the deal. She had belt holsters custom made for them as well, so she could wear them under the back of her jacket where no one would see. That done she invested in a reliable lighter and some secure bottles for petrol. Now she was as ready as she would ever be.

Author's notes:
Okay another one of my little interludes, but I don't like loose ends, call me crazy. Never mind, you'll just have to wait and see how this turns out for her…
