Chapter 11

 

The next day everyone was busy preparing for something special. This special occasion was Megan's 16th birthday. Of course Megan knew today was her birthday, but she didn't know that her friends were planning anything. Actually she hadn't seen any of her friends all today; she wondered what might be going on with them. She wasn't aloud outside the hospital that much yet. So she couldn't go see hr friends either. So Megan sat in her room watching TV and tried to get her homework done. While Megan occupied herself, Samantha, John and everyone else they knew were preparing for Megan's surprise birthday party.

Samantha was decorating the dorm room for Megan, while John and the other's decorated the main hall where they had the Christmas dance at. John couldn't help smiling all the time as he decorated the place with his friends and sister. Jamie couldn't help, but laugh at her brother and his expression that he had the whole time he was decorating. At least he knows who he's truly in love with now, she thought to herself as she watched her brother decorate.

“You must be really happy today. Anything special going on besides Megan's birthday today?” Jamie asked John.

“And you should care why?” John asked looking down at her from the ladder he was standing on.

“Oh no reason really. You just seem happier than usual, that's all really.” John just looked at her confused and shook his head while he continued to work.

John's happiness was very noticeable to everyone around him. Even to those who didn't know him that well. He didn't really notice his own happiness until after a couple people had told him he looked a little to happy today. The truth was he was actually glad that he might be able to see Megan's smiling face again and outside of the hospital tonight.

A few hours passed and everything was set up for Megan's surprise birthday party. Samantha has asked the nurses who took care of Megan if the could bring her to the dorms that night. They agreed only if she was carefully watched. Samantha said she would make sure of that. So Samantha brought some of Megan's nicest clothes to the hospital so she could look pretty. Then she went back to the dorms to get changed herself.

Later that night the nurses got permission to take Megan out, but she wasn't aloud to dance too much. They helped her get dressed for the party which she wasn't aware of. The nurses had just told her they were going to walk around campus for a little while and to give her some fresh air. Then around 7 O'clock Megan was a little confused of why they were going back to the dorms. She just hoped that she didn't have anymore flashbacks while they walked there.

Whey they had reached Megan's dorm room door she hesitated, but slowly knocked on the door. There was no answer at first, but soon the door opened up slowly. All three of them were taken by surprise, but slowly entered the room. Then out of nowhere John and Bryan came out with a big stuffed animal! It was a stuffed animal squirrel!

“What the heck!” She yelled at them after they had surprised her.

“Surprise and happy birthday!” They all said and so did a few other people who were in the dorm room. Megan couldn't help, but laugh as everyone came out of where they were hiding. Her laughter was of happiness not because it was funny that they had surprised her with a stuffed squirrel. Megan stopped laughing long enough to give all her friends a hug. They all talked for a little while then they walked down to the main hall. When they walked into the building it was so beautiful that Megan was utterly speechless.

John came up from behind her and put his arms around her waist and held her close to him. “Beautiful isn't it?” He whispered into her ear. Megan just gave a smile and slowly her hands went over her waist covering John's arms. She tilted her head back so that it was resting on John's shoulder and she was smiling up at him. She mouthed the words, “Thank you,” to him.

A few minutes later music behind to play. Megan couldn't dance under the doctor's orders. So they party didn't last very long. Soon everyone was heading back to their own dorms. And Megan was heading back to the nurses' office. She wasn't heading back alone though John accompanied her on her way back.

When they were walking back to the hospital wing (the nurses' office) they walked along the sidewalk that was near the beach. Megan smiled at the ocean and took in the smell and breeze. It would be awhile before she could come back here. “I love the ocean and all that it holds so much.” She said as she walked beside John. She put her head on his shoulder and his hand around her waist.

“I already knew you loved the ocean Meg. That's what I like about you. You're not like any other girl who just cares about shopping. You actually like and care about nature.” John said lightly kissing her head.

As the two teens walked side by side the nurses walked a few yards behind giving them some privacy. As John and Megan were talking and laughing bout something, there was someone watching them from the shadows. The boy had black hair that was long enough to cover his eyes. His eyes were black and looked endless like a black hole. It was kind of scary to just look at him without thinking you would be sucked into his eyes.

Neither John nor Megan noticed him since he was blended in so nicely with the darkness and the shadows of the trees that lined the beach. So when he spoke when they got near him, both Megan and John got scared.

“Happy birthday Megan,” He said with no emotion. Megan literally jumped about a foot in the air when she heard his voice. It was so familiar and she wouldn't believe it was someone she knew from long ago. But she had to take in reality and find out if it was really him.

“T-Teji?” She asked looking at the boy who was coming out of the shadows. John looked over at the boy as well and gave him a death glare. He didn't like this boy one bit and he wouldn't let him hurt Megan no matter what the circumstances were.

“Who the hell are you? And how do you know my Megan?” John asked the boy as he stepped between Teji and Megan. Megan was a little surprised by John's action.

“I'm Teji. Megan's boyfriend before she went silent.” Teji said returning John's death glare. Mainly because he had gotten between him and Megan.

“What are you doing here?”

“I'll be attending this boarding school as well from now on. And I was to stay as close to my Megan was much as possible.”

“Well that isn't going to happen she's with me.” And with that said John held onto Megan's Hand. Megan looked down at John's hand and knew all hell would break out. Teji never took it lightly when someone touched or held onto something he claimed was his. And Megan knew there would be a fight right then and there since Teji was glaring at John's hand holding on to Megan's.
