Chapter 10
Another week passed since Ally had gotten between Megan and John. Megan was always hanging around with Samantha and Tony. Tony didn't really mind at all since he knew the reason why Samantha insisted that Megan hangout with them. It also gave him a chance to learn a little more about Megan even if she still wouldn't talk.
“Sam are you sure Megan is okay?” Tony asked her when he noticed Megan was looking outside with a frown on her face.
“No I'm not sure she' okay at all.” Samantha replied with a sigh. “I'm afraid to leave her alone.”
“I know Sam. And I completely understand. You care about your best friend, and I respect that.”
Megan wasn't really paying any attention to the other two. She was more focused on what was outside. It was dark and the sky was clear so she could easily see the stars and the moon shining. Megan gave a small smile remembering her mother. She stood up from the booth they were sitting at and left, without Samantha and Tony noticing. (Don't ask me how she was able to do that)
Megan walked outside and began to think. It's almost been a month or so since that witch came! She thought. Ever since Megan became mute or silent so many bad things have been happening to her. Her whole life has been a mess since her mother died to now. Megan has ad so many problems since her mother died a horrible death. First it started with her grades falling then her memories coming at a horrible timing, being forced to boarding school after boarding school. Then she got rejected and finally her crush getting stolen from her. Megan stopped in her tracks and her face became blank
My heart hurts since mom died. I went from a straight A and an Honor Roll student to a straight B student, but it didn't just stop there. My grades continued to fall. You demanded answers, but I couldn't give them to you. You beat me on hit after another. And all I can remember and hear is you yelling, “What kind of daughter are you?! Letting one event ruin you life! And you have no explanation for it! I hate having to come to school just to hear your teachers saying that you're failing! Hearing how wonderful you use to be and what not.” And then I hear my own voice weak, but loud enough to hear, “Dad stop please. It hurts! Don't you care more about my feelings more than my life being ruined and my grades? Don't you also grieve or even care about mom's death?” But I know your answer already and all of it is in your expression it says, “Of course I grieve over your mother's death. But she's dead and I move on. And so should you. You let your mother's death affect you or your grades. Just move on with your life! As for how you feel? I don't care about them. They are just a waste of time like you.” And soon the beating is over and I run out of the house which you always hated when I did that. My body was hurting all over and I just know I'm bleeding badly. But the hospital is to far away and soon enough I pass out, but when I awaken I'm in the hospital. I have no clue who brought me there, but I am thankful to the person or persons that did.
Megan blinks away her blank stare, but soon enough she black out probably still hurting from many of her father's beatings. Mostly her head hurt the most since he beat her there mostly. Megan stats to fall back, but thankfully there are people around and see her fall. Bryan is among them with Lenny and Tom. Bryan caught Megan just in time and the three of them carry her to the nurses' office. They don't stay with Megan for two reasons. Reason number 1 is because they know she won't be walking up anytime soon. And the second reason is because the nurse there tells them they can't stay there.
Bryan goes to find Samantha and tell her what happened while Tom and Lenny went to go tell John. But its really late so they all waited until it was morning the next day. They know the others will be mad, but why worry them before they go to sleep and plus they couldn't see her at that time right now anyways.
The next morning during breakfast Samantha was sitting with Jamie and Mina. She was wondering where Megan was and right then Bryan came up to her and told her about last night with Megan. Samantha got worried, “Why didn't you tell me last night then?!” She yelled at him.
“Because it was late and you wouldn't have been able to see her anyways.” Bryan replied calmly. Samantha quickly stood up from the table, hitting Bryan over the head first, and then ran out of the cafeteria. Jamie and Mina quickly followed after her.
While Bryan was giving Samantha the news, Tom and Lenny were telling John. He got wide-eyed and quickly left as well. Ally was just coming in for breakfast when she saw John running.
“Hey, John, what's the-” she said, but didn't finish since John ran by quickly. She got worried wondering what was wrong with him and followed after him.
All five of them ended up getting to the nurses' office at the same time. Samantha and John both asked to see Megan at the same time. The receptionist there told all of them that they needed to take a seat for a minute before they could see her. They did as they were told and waited until someone called for them so that they could see her.
When they go to Megan's room they saw her eyes were still closed. She didn't seem hurt really, but just very tired. Well she looked like that to Jamie, Mina, and Ally, but to John and Samantha it looked bad and it was.
“We looked at her body last night and ran more tests on her than we did the last time she was here.” The nurse told them. “Seems like she has a little bit of brain damage and some of her bones in her body are fractured. Her brain damage is sever, which means it's really-”
“We know what sever means!” John snapped “Just tell us what's going happen to her.”
The nurse gave a sight, but continued, “Well since her brain is damaged pretty badly and so are some of her bones we will be keeping her here for a couple of months, or at least until she gets better. But if she decides to go out early the consequences could be fatal.”
“What do you mean by that?” Samantha asked very worried.
“Well she could break her bones more easily. And with her brain damage… Well if it's not treated then she could keep having black outs and after a few more of those she might just die.” The nurse said. All of them, including Ally, looked worried. “So it's best if she stays here and cooperates with us.” Samantha and John nodded in unison. And at that moment Megan blinked her eyes open. She looked around to see everyone surrounding her. She tapped Samantha on the shoulder. Samantha looked down at Megan, tears forming in her eyes. She didn't think her best friend would be hurting so much, but she was wrong about that.
Megan gave Samantha a questioning look, but Samantha couldn't tell Megan so John did. When he was finished explaining she saw tears forming in his eyes as well. He really cares about me, she thought giving both of her friends a sad look.
“Megan will you stay in the nurses' office and stay for your treatment. It may take awhile, but it will help you,” Then nurse asked her. Megan nodded as her answer. “Okay then we'll begin tomorrow okay.”
It didn't really take long until just about everyone that John, Ally, Samantha, Jamie, and Mina knew found out about Megan's condition. It was a month after they had found out about Megan's problem. And during that whole month John and Ally had been fighting. Ally understood why John cared about Megan, but he didn't have to go see her every day. John didn't care what Ally said he cared more about Megan's health and condition than anything else right now.
Megan wasn't really aloud to walk around the hospital at all. All they really let her do was get up to use the bathroom and sit up to eat. But all she did for the majority of the day was lie down and rest. She only sat up for a few times mainly when she had a visitor. She liked having visitors it at least gave her a chance to actually see her friends once in awhile instead of no one, besides the nurses. She always got to see Samantha the majority of the time. And also during this month they had given Megan surgery which started to help her condition a little.
The first month in the hospital seemed boring to Megan. She mainly hated it because they wouldn't let her do anything, but she did have to deal with it. The treatment she was getting helped her broken and fractured bones; it also helped her brain damage a little that month. But it also did help her to start talking again! Well she didn't really say much at first only small words, like how a baby would start talking. Only the nurses knew about this though, but didn't tell her friends, because she wanted to tell them herself.
Another month passed by and Megan could walk around a little more now. She wasn't feeling that much hurt in her body anymore. And she didn't fall over as much as she use to. Megan's brain damage was almost fixed and she could finally talk in full sentences. Her recovery was almost over, but the nurses and doctors said she had to stay one more month until her brain was fully recovered.
During the second month of Megan's treatment John had broken up with Ally, finally. So when he had Samantha were going to see Megan he planned on telling her. But he was planning something even bigger for tomorrow everyone they knew was. When they got to the hospital they didn't really think of anything, because she was walking around on her own. They walked up to her and tapped her on the shoulder. Megan gave them a big hug and ushered them to a seat. They sat down and Megan sat in front of them as she gave them a big smile.
“Are you okay Megan?” John asked. “I mean why are you smiling so big?”
“B-because I c-can t-talk a-again,” she said her voice sounding weak and like a little girl, but she managed to say it. Megan saw Samantha's eyes grow and then she jumped up and gave Megan a big hug. John just couldn't talk. It was like she had stolen his voice, but of course that isn't quite possible.
“I'm so happy to finally hear your voice again!” Samantha practically yelled with tears falling down her face. “It's been way to long since I've heard you talk!”
“I k-know Sam. I g-guess i-it's the t-treatment really. I think it's giving me the c-courage to t-talk a-again.” Megan said then looked at John and gave him a small smile. He returned the smile and got up to hug her as well.
“I have some good news for you Meg,” John said with a smile still on.
“What is it?” She asked him tilting her head to one side.
“I broke up with Ally today. I guess I just couldn't stand her. Plus I wasn't happy with her like I am with you.” John said. Megan didn't answer, but only gave him a smile and gave him a bigger hug while tears threatened to fall.
“That is the sweetest thing anyone has ever said to me,” she told him. Samantha let Megan know what was going on around the school. Or like John would say, “Girl world.” And John told her how Bryan had locked himself in the bathroom and was acting stupid for about 5 or 10 minutes. Megan laughed at this, her laugh was more like a giggle, but John loved it. They stayed there for a bout an hour or two then left. They had some big planning for tomorrow.
