Golden Moon
Lust loves to play the lottery. While love plays a different game
of chance. Both games are so easy to confuse. Especially when two
people aren't playing the same things.
This happened ten years ago. A young man fell in love. She was a
sex worker. You can see where this is heading.
Where to begin about Steven? Average man in his twenties. A dreamer
if you will. Nothing but rose-colored glasses. He shouldn't be in
this city. It would eat him alive. He's never been in love either.
Poor soul.
His best friend set the storm in motion. This friend, Mike, was
getting married. The last night to be a single man. Oh yeah, I
forgot to mention. Steven was still a virgin at the time. Yeah. It
keeps getting better. Anyway, the two friends went out to the local
bar. Mike turned to his virgin friend.
“I have something I want to show you,” he said. Steven cocked his
head.
“What?” he said. Mike flashed him a huge grin. His virgin friend
looked nervous.
“Mike?” he asked. Ah, Mike. Always the joker. What was he up to
this time? Mike leaned in with red cheeks.
“Want to get lucky?” he whispered.
“Huh?” Steven asked. His friend patted him on the back.
“Come along and see,” Mike said. He busted out laughing. He pumped
his fist in the air.
“Whew! Bartender! Another round!” he shouted. Steven nervously
laughed.
“Oh boy…”
Mike loved to party. Steven would rather stay home. Since they were
boys, he followed Mike's lead. Did he ever think for himself?
Their night ended up at a brothel. Steven's jaw dropped.
“The Golden Moon?” he asked.
“Uh-huh!” Mike said. He grinned as he pushed his friend
forward.
“Go on. Have fun!” he said. Steven whipped his head around with
bright red cheeks.
“What?!” he screamed. Mike smiled and winked. He turned to
leave.
“Wait!” Steven called out. His friend turned his head.
“I'll be across the street. Good luck!” He ran to the coffee
shop.
Steven stood at the doors. His heart raced against his chest. He
could feel Mike's eyes on his back. He didn't have a choice. Might
as well get this over with. Steven walked inside.
Now we will talk about the lady in question.
Let's call her Liz. She wasn't perfectly beautiful. However, men
gave her a second look. Curly sea-green hair, plump cheeks, large
breasts, and a mole under her right eye. Liz definitely stood out.
She had the luck of being the one to take Steven's virginity.
They called her cold. Liz just did her job. There had been men who
fell in love with her. Steven was no different. The poor fool.
Mike paid for everything. The night, the girl, and the room. Steven
was to go to Room 36. Steven gulped. Too late to back out now. He
knocked on the door.
This triggered the start of a love obsession.
They were together for one night. One night. It was a good one for
Steven. I have seen this before. Dreamers get lost in the fantasy.
Poor Steven. He says he loves her. Liz doesn't feel the same way.
Actually, he didn't know how she really felt. He doesn't know
anything about her. But does that matter? Dreamers can't see
reason. They want to make the fantasy real. Some will go the
distance to do it. I don't think Steven went that far. Liz held
onto his heart for three years. I know it sounded crazy. Steven
tried to get Liz to be his paramour. He couldn't reach her for the
first two years. That didn't stop him. Even Mike got worried.
“It won't work,” he said. Steven didn't listen. He got her in the
end. They only lasted for six months. I think she left him. I will
have to go back and look. All I know is they aren't together
anymore. They have moved on from each other.
But when one dream dies, another is reborn. You will see more of
that theme in more records.
