Chapter 1
“Kura?” the Fire Demon nodded. Well, it looked like a nod. “What level Demon are you?”“Seven. Hey, how did a kid like you even summon me?”
“I’M NOT A BLOODY KID! I’M SIXTEEN!”
“Yeesh… don’t blow up. Hey, ya got a visitor.”
Kira growled and snapped at Kura, “You are the Demon. I’m the Master. You listen to what I say, and I say blow the door! Oh, and throw a Flare out there for good measure.”
Kura rolled her dark crimson eyes and held her hand up, palm facing the door. A red ball was in Kura’s hand and it drifted over to the door and blew it. Kira covered her eyes and when she opened them, Kura’s form was shimmering. Kira gasped in shock and then in pain. Kura’s form had vanished and turned into a ray of red light. The light shot towards Kira and entered her body. Kira’s eyes glazed over and she stumbled. When she opened her eyes, she felt as if her body was on fire.
‘Wow!’ A voice said in Kira’s head. ‘You have some interesting thoughts in here!’
Kira gasped and ran out of her bedroom door. She looked down and saw Marcia’s limp body.
“Ha! Serves you right, you witch!” Kira flew down the stairs.
‘Where you going?’ the voice asked.
“Sh-shut up. Hang on. I…er…we need to get to safety.”
Kira ran back to the abandoned building. She smiled softly. One of her first real smiles in years.
“Home.”
She climbed up the steps and into the bedroom.
‘Agh! I’m comin’ out.’ The voice said.
Before Kira could do anything, she doubled over. A ray of red light came out of her body. The light took a shape and a girl that looked like Kira, just a little bit taller and eyes that were a darker shade of crimson. Another thing that was different, was the fact that Kura had ears like a dog.
“So,” Kira started, “You tell me what’s up. Then I’ll tell you what you wanna know. So, you are a level seven Fire Demon, right?”
“Eya.”
“And your name is Kura?”
“Eya.”
“I’m not stupid. What are you really?”
Kura sighed and flashed Kira a grin. Her teeth were sharp.
‘Like fangs.’ Kira thought.
“Exactly.”
Kira’s eyes widened in shock. “Wh-what? How?”
“Heh,” Kura chuckled, “I’m still part way inside of your mind. I can read some of your thoughts. Cool, eh?” Kira nodded slowly. “I’m half fire demon, half dog demon. So that would explain the fangs, wouldn’t it?” Again, Kira nodded. “So I answered your question, now you answer mine. Why did you summon me?”
This time, Kira sighed. “For one, I wanted to get out of that retarded place. And two…” her voice faltered slightly.
“Two?” Kura cocked an eyebrow.
“I wanted to get revenge on the person or people who killed my parents.”
Kura grinned again. “Oooh. Do tell.”
“Hmph. Rather not.” Kira stretched and yawned.
“Well, time for bed, wittle Kira.”
“Tch.” Kira turned her back on the Fire Demon and scrambled into the queen-sized bed.
“Don’t let the Demons bite.” Kura cackled.
“Don’t have to worry.” Kira smiled and snapped her fingers. “Containment Circle.”
A glowing yellow light surrounded Kura and she found that she couldn’t move. Kura ‘hmphed’.
“Oh, now that’s not fair…” Kura pouted.
“Well, Kura,” Kira said from the bed, “life’s just not fair. Take it from me.”
And with that, Kira fell into a dreamless sleep.
