Chapter 6
Will You Be My Prince?

Dark halls and quiet paths made it easy for Tai-Li and Tai-Shi to leave the grounds. The moon, pale and high in the sky, lit the way through the fields of the yellow flowers that only bloomed at night around the stream near their home. A light breeze gently caressed the fields and in returned, the blades of grass and flowers teetered back and forth, unsure rather to stand up or lay down upon the ground.

Tai-Li smiled as he held onto Tai-Shi's hand while they ran. He led him through the tall grass and weaved in and out of the tree lines. Tai-Li glanced over his shoulder and saw the gentle, happy smile on his brother's face.

Finally, the two arrived at their designated spot and fell back onto the soft ground. They both smiled as they heard each other's heavy breath. Above them, fireflies burned their gentle lights as they looked for a mate, for their blood to go on. It was instinct. The female would attract to the firefly they liked.

Tai-Li heard the grass move beside him and he slowly sat up. He was suddenly thrown hard against the ground. He felt his wrist tightly pressed to the ground above his head. He looked up at the figure leaning over him with a toothy grin. Even though it was dark, the field they were in by the edge of the stream reflected the moon's light up on them. Tai-Li, still in shock, looked up at Tai-Shi, and couldn't help but notice the dark blue sky with its many orbs of light, the stars. Tai-Li had forgotten about being pinned, but continued to stare. He couldn't find any words at this time to speak, or maybe he just didn't want to say anything at all. Above him, he saw the gentle Tai-Shi, picture perfect. Though, what really caught Tai-Li's eye was that he could see himself in Tai-Shi's light blue eyes, darken by the little light from the reflecting moon..

Tai-Shi smirked, let go of Tai-Li's wrists, stood up, and took a few steps away. He took his offensive stance and waited for Tai-Li to take his. Tai-Li slowly sat up and quickly looked away at the stream beside him. Why the hell did Tai-Shi do that? Any why the hell was he so upset about it?

“Aww, what's wrong Tai-Tai? A little flustered?” Came the younger sibling's quiet taunt.

Tai-Li's head snapped back to face Tai-Shi with a light glare. If his cheeks were flushed, they weren't any longer. He quickly stood and took his stance, which could go either offensive or defensive. This was the only stance that Tai-Li could use against Tai-Shi because of his brother's speed and stamina.

“Go!” Tai-Li called into the still night. The wind had stopped and all that was around them was the fireflies.

Tai-Shi didn't waist any time. He took off quickly and ran a quarter circle around Tai-Li before turning to running straight at him. Tai-Li quickly turned as he caught sight of Tai-Shi's right fist. Tai-Li caught it with his left and went to strike with his right. Tai-Shi ducked and quickly swung his left leg around behind Tai-Li to knock him back. Tai-Li stumbled as he felt Tai-Shi's leg remove his planted feet from the hard ground. Before Tai-Li hit the ground, he quickly brought his foot up and placed it firmly on Tai-Shi's stomach. As he fell back, Tai-Shi rose and was tossed over along with him.

Tai-Shi rolled, jumped to his feet, and took another stance. Tai-Li jumped to his feet and quickly turned to face his brother, now taking an offensive stance. The two stood facing one another before Tai-Li sprinted toward Tai-Shi. Tai-Shi crouched. He expected Tai-Li's usual rush attack, just as he did to Tai-Li himself. Though, this time, he was wrong. Tai-Li had learned something new, and Tai-Shi learned dearly for his assuming mistake.

Tai-Li leapt forward and placed both hands on the ground. His feet came flying forwards. His heel connecting with Tai-Shi's chin, making Tai-Shi stumble backwards, his body still in shock from the contact. Tai-Li took this as an opening and tucked his body as he rolled to his feet. He quickly got up; his green cheongsam flowed elegantly around him as he leapt forward and grabbed Tai-Shi's arms and pulled him toward him. With perfect form, Tai-Li raised his right knee and he felt Tai-Shi's firm abdomen connect and the gasp from Tai-Shi, knowing the assault had worked.

Tai-Shi collapsed to the ground, clutching his stomach tightly. He stared up at Tai-Li, his light blue eyes brimming with tears. Tai-Li stared down with an emotionless face. Tai-Li saw the look on Tai-Shi's face, and his thoughts drifted back to when they had first begun training.

Tai-Shi was so timid and fragile. The lightest touch usually caused the younger sibling to cry. The teary eyes were there constantly as they would playfully fight each other. Though, Tai-Li was the one to always throw Tai-Shi around, because he was older and was stronger. This all changed in a blink of an eye though.

“I won't!” Tai-Shi cried out into the silent night in a growl as he rose to his feat and clutched his fist tight. He drew it back and quickly thrusts it into Tai-Li's chest. "I won't cry anymore!"

This brought Tai-Li back into the current state of his surroundings. Before he could recover from the attack, Tai-Shi was there again. He had used Tai-Li's body as if it was a set of stairs and kicked down hard against Tai-Li's back. Tai-Li stumbled forward, losing his balance. Tai-Li knew that this wasn't the end of the assault. Tai-Shi was back again and grabbed Tai-Li's arms from behind. He kicked Tai-Li forward onto his knees and placed his left foot in the middle of Tai-Li's back and began pulling his arms while he pressed his left foot into his back. Tai-Li let out a yelp as he felt the shooting pain rise in his arms. He only knew one way of getting out of this. He took the chance and leaned forward suddenly raising his right foot and rolling.

Tai-Shi flew forward and let go of Tai-Li's arms in the quick reflex to stop from falling forward. Tai-Li took this chance and rolled back away from Tai-Shi. He rose to his feet and turned to see Tai-Shi had already recovered and was charging at him. Tai-Li had to end it now. He knew that if this match would go on too much longer, he would not be able to keep up with Tai-Shi, and risk getting grappled again. Tai-Li took off running, leading Tai-Shi into a planned trap. He jumped and used an old oak tree as leverage as he took a step up. He quickly spun his body and aimed his foot at the side of Tai-Shi's face.

In a blink of an eye, Tai-Shi had grabbed Tai-Li's foot and pivoted quickly on his left heel. He release Tai-Li and Tai-Li's back hit hard against the oak tree he had just used as a step. Tai-Li's breath escaped him and he momentarily blacked out.

When did he get this strong?

Tai-Shi collapsed in front of his brother, breathing heavily. He looked up and saw Tai-Li and smiled.

“I finally beat you...” He softly said crawling forward. He lowered his head so he could tilt his face up to look at Tai-Li. He quickly sat up and placed his hands on Tai-Li's shoulders and gently shook him. “Tai-Li? Tai-Li! Wake up Tai-Li!”

Tai-Li slowly opened his eyes and lifted his head. He met Tai-Shi worried eyes and smiled. “How does it feel?” Tai-Li gently asked.

“What do you mean? Are you alright?” He continued to stare at Tai-Li, his voice full of concern.

“How does it feel…being the one to win?” Tai-Li couldn't help but smile.

Tai-Shi let go of his brother's shoulders and leaned back to sit on his legs. He lowered his head and placed his hands on the ground before him. He sat quietly for a moment, having all the events that happened play back in his mind. A light smile curved his lips as he looked up with a new gleam in his eyes.

“I did win…didn't I?” Tai-Shi smiled as he stood up, cocking his head to one side. He smiled.

Tai Li look up at Tai-Shi, “You really have grown, haven't you?”

Tai-Shi chuckled, “Well of course, have you not been paying attention all this time?”

Tai-Li smiled and gently shook his head, “I really didn't notice.”

Tai-Shi playfully growled, “That's mean…you mean I still seem like a child to you?”

“No, I just didn't notice. I'm not sure how to explain it.” There was a short pause as the gentle wind softly caressed their sweat covered faces. “Tai-Shi?”
“Yes Tai-Li?” Tai-Shi leaned forwards to get a better look at his brother.

“Could you help me over to the stream…and then help me home?” Tai-Li softly chuckled.

“Why? You can move yourself?” Tai-Shi asked, now crouching.

“You threw me pretty hard.” Tai-Li growled lightly.

Tai-Shi smiled and helped Tai-Li up.

“Alright, but just this once.” Tai-Shi looped Tai-Li's arm over his shoulders and helped him walk to the stream. The two washed their faces before returning back home, hoping no one saw them leave.

The courtyard was deserted. Rain had begun to fall about halfway home on Tai-Li and Tai-Shi. The candles outside had been extinguished and the interior of the building was no different. The halls were dark like ebony. Tai-Shi kept his steps quiet, trying to keep Tai-Li and himself from being found.

Tai-Li's door opened with a loud creak and Tai-Shi froze, waiting to hear the sounds of footsteps. Though, they never were heard. Tai-Shi sighed in relief as he walked into the room and quietly shut the door behind him. He sat Tai-Li on the feather bed in the corner of the room and went back to locking the door.

Tai-Shi turned to watch his brother fall back and lay down in the middle of his bed, resting finally. Tai-Li stretched and motioned for Tai-Shi to come.

“You have to be exhausted Tai-Shi.” Tai-Li said tiredly.

“Not as much as yourself though.” Tai-Shi pointed out as he took a seat on the edge of the bed.

“Maybe, maybe not.” He sighed as he closed his eyes.

“You seem to milk this for all that it is worth.” Tai-Shi smirked leaning back and turning his head to stare at Tai-Li over his shoulder.

“Be quiet you, I'm always taking care of you after our training sessions.” Tai-Li began.

“Not anymore. Now that I know I can beat you, you won't have the chance to do that ever again.” Tai-Shi mocked.

“You're just going to rub it in huh?” Tai-Li said softly, slowly closing his eyes.

“Yep, it's not every day that I beat you Tai-Li. You will just have to get used to it I suppose.” Tai-Shi smiled to himself as he lightly kicked his feet against the floor below him. When Tai-Shi didn't hear Tai-Li reply, he turned around to see if Tai-Li was upset with him. Tai-Shi smiled to himself as he saw Tai-Li's gentle expression

Tai-Li had fallen asleep. Tai-Shi smiled as he rolled over so he could slowly crawl up the bed to lean over Tai-Li. Tai-Li always had more of a mature face when he was awake, but when he slept; Tai-Shi could see all the childishness that still loomed inside Tai-Li. The face of a boy slept, and the face of a man was no more. Tai-Shi smiled and leaned forward some, leaning his forehead against Tai-Li's and softly whispered, “Who's the boy now…”

He softly pressed his lips to Tai-Li's and sat up slowly. The rising sun was the only light in the room. Tai-Shi slowly removed himself from the bed and walked to the window. He peered out and sighed as he turned back to face Tai-Li.

“Tai-Li would never be interested in me…Tai-Li wants a princess.” Tai-Shi looked to the floor with a sadden expression. “I could never become your princess…never…” He slowly sunk to the floor and curled his legs up behind him. He stared down hard at the floor, almost like he was mad at it. “Why…why was I born like this…why was I born a—”

“You question things no one has the answer for.” A soft voice said from above.

Tai-Shi looked up and jumped back to see Tai-Li standing behind him.

Oh no! Please let him not been awake after what I just did…

“But you…I thought you were…” Tai-Shi nearly panicked. What had he just done?

“Come on…” Tai-Li extended his hand to Tai-Shi to offer him some help up, obviously not knowing about the kiss.

“Tai-Li…” Tai-Shi questioned as he debated on taking his hand.

“I'm not going to hurt you Tai-Shi…” Tai-Li said softly, using his other hand to stifle a yawn.

Ta-Shi took Tai-Li's hand and was pulled to his feat. Tai-Shi expected to take his hand back but he could not. He was being led back to Tai-Li's feather bed.

“Tai-Li?” Tai-Shi was confused; he didn't know what was going on.

“You're just as tired as I am…we're going to sleep.” Tai-Li said, holding back another yawn.

Tai-Li crawled into his bed and pulled Tai-Shi down with him. “As long as you don't steal the covers…you can sleep here tonight.”

“Tai-Li?” Tai-Shi began.

“Shh.” Tai-Li covered Tai-Shi and wrapped his arms around Tai-Shi's waist. “Just go to sleep.”

Tai-Shi nodded, still confused about what exactly what was going on. As he thought about it, he really didn't want to question Tai-Li's actions. He was finally close to Tai-Li, and he felt safe.

“Stop asking questions…you already know the answers to…” Tai-Li mumbled as he was referring to earlier. He curled up around Tai-Shi and gently rested his nose on the back of Tai-Shi's neck.

Tai-Shi gently cringed but tried to stay still for Tai-Li. He sighed, knowing that Tai-Li would and only would be his brother.

Author's Note: I know this isn't quite as long as I wanted it…and the moment between Tai-Shi and Tai-Li didn't last long…but hey…I'll make up for it…I promise. Well, please review…I haven't received a single review on Media Miner…please review. That's all I ask. Tai-Shi craves reviews…you all love Tai-Shi right? If not…Tai-Li? Tai-Li wants them too…

Oh! Just remembered, I'm adding two drawings of Tai-Li and Tai-Shi. You already saw them. I hope you like. I'm not very good with drawing, so the arms and stuff are horrible…and I wanted Tai-Li to have a little more of a gentler look. Tai-Shi…I fell in love with him…makes me just want to jump in and give him a big hug. I noticed I really never explained what Tai-Shi was ever wearing. He usually wears a long sleeved dark blue shirt with a high neck to cover bruises and such. The shirt belonged to Tai-Li, but Tai-Shi needed it more. I hope you can tell who is who in the drawings o.O;

Look forward to the next chapter…there's going to be a part you will like, and one you wont…and something big is going to happen…stay tuned for more Bound Together!

Update: Well, I changed a few sentences here and there to make everything run a bit more smoothly. Spelling and grammar wasn't a big problem.
