Chapter 8
Save Which is Lost

“I hate you…” Tai-Shi's hurtful words continued to ring inside Tai-Li's head.

Tai-Li stumbled backwards and fell to the floor. He leaned back on his hands and stared at Tai-Shi, who still continued to cry and repeat his words.

“I hate you…”

“Don't say that…” Tai-Li begged.

“I hate you…”

“Tai-Shi…please!” He leaned forward and curled his legs up under him and leaned forward.

“I hate you…”

“Stop it!” Tai-Li covered his ears.

Tai-Shi…why are you saying this?

“Why?” Tai-Li begged.

“I hate you…”

“Tai-Shi! Why do you hate me?” Tai-Li yelled, his voice echoed in the stone padded room.

Tai-Li took the moment of silence to slowly rise to his feat and search for the keys. He removed the stone where the keys were always hidden. He didn't bother putting the stone back up and let it drop to the floor. He heard the noise of brick against brick as he turned his back and slowly walked over to where Tai-Shi was constrained. Tai-Li took the key and unlatched the chains from Tai-Shi and he instantly fell to his knees.

Tai-Shi's knees drew together as he hit the floor. He leaned forward and placed the palms of his hands in front of his knees. His short hair just hardly brushed the sides of his pale cheeks.

“I hate you…”

Tai-Li dropped to the floor. His face twisted with frustration. Tai-Shi stared up at him, and his frustration went away in an instant.

“Leave me alone…” Tai-Shi said softly.

“No…not until you talk to me!” Tai-Li said as he looked up at his brother sitting in front of him. “Talk to me Tai-Shi!”

“Leave me alone! I hate you!” Tai-Shi yelled, biting his lower lip, holding in a cry.

“Leave me alone…leave me alone and don't come…”

“What do you mean by that?” Tai-Li was getting angry again.

“You didn't come! I hate you!” A small trail of tears slowly slid down Tai-Shi's cheeks and dripped off to the floor.

Tai-Li felt like he ran into a brick wall. He didn't come? Did Tai-Shi call for help? That had to be it. Tai-Shi called for help…but no one came.

“Tai-Shi…”

“Go away!”

Tai-Li just sat there, staring at Tai-Shi.

Behind Tai-Li, the sound of feet padded heavily on the ground as the figures appeared in the doorway.

“Tai-Li?” The familiar voice of Sei called out but stopped when he saw Tai-Li with a young blond.

Tai-Li turned around and stood slowly.

“Where's Rei?” He asked coldly, glaring at the two that were in the doorway.

“He…he just left with his father. We came to warn you your father was looking for you.” Allen said softly as he watched Tai-Li advance towards them.

Tai-Li stopped, his anger getting away with him. Before he took another step towards Allen or Sei, he turned and held his right fist tightly. In an instant, the sound of something cracking was heard, and a small trail of blood ran down the side of the wall, where Tai-Li's fist was pressed.

Three weeks latter…

The Kay estate had been quiet for what seemed like an eternity for Tai-Li. Tai-Shi hadn't spoken a single word since the night of the party. Tai-Li blamed himself for what happened. If only he would have taken the damn button, then Tai-Shi wouldn't have been hurt.

Sei and Allen had stopped by. They understood what happened three weeks ago. Sei wanted to cheer Tai-Li up, and Allen usually just sat and listened. Sei didn't go anywhere away from his estate without Allen. Rumors of the two being together had begun to move around the estates, and Tai-Li's father was reluctant to let Tai-Li see them.

Allen, whom had sat quietly, stared at Tai-Li's right hand. A bandage was wrapped around it, and it didn't look as swollen as it was a few weeks ago. When Tai-Li noticed Allen's stare, he lifted his hand and hid it within his left hand.

“Tai-Li, you have to.” Sei said leaning back against a post.

The three were sitting outside on the porch near Tai-Li's room was. It wasn't anything fancy, just a wooden deck that surrounded the whole building. There was also a small roof over them, so if it rained, they wouldn't have to go inside.

“I...I can't…” Tai-Li said, as he looked over a crossed to the garden. He froze as he spotted the figure of his guilt.

Tai-Shi looked up from his slow walk and turned. He walked back from where he came and disappeared behind the bathhouse. Tai-Li looked away and bit his lower lip.

Allen slowly stood, “Excuse me…I need to relieve myself.”

“Do you want me to come?” Sei asked as he looked up at the white haired boy.

“No…no…I'll be fine.” Allen bowed and excused himself and walked off towards the woods.

“Alright…” Sei's attention soon returned to Tai-Li's.

“You're still beating yourself up about it aren't you?” Sei asked placing his hands behind his head.

“How would you feel? It's my fault!” Tai-Li growled as he balled up his left fist.

“Don't break the knuckles on that fist too now…” Sei pointed out and Tai-Li relaxed. “I know how you fe—”

“How? How would you know how I feel?” Tai-Li snapped at Sei.

“Cause your brother wasn't the only person Rei's had his way with.” Sei sighed.

Tai-Li was taken aback when he heard that, “You mean…he didn't…you?”

“No…but Allen.” Sei said quietly folding his arms over his chest.

Allen turned around the building and looked from left to right. He really didn't need to relieve himself. He was more or less looking for something, or someone. Allen stopped; he held his left wrist in his right hand as he stood quietly. In front of him, a small boy sat on the porch behind the bathhouse. His knees were brought up tightly to his chest, and his chin rested upon the top of them. Allen moved slightly so that the person would notice his presence.

“Um…hello.” Allen said softly.

The figure began to move to get up.

“No no…please, stay for a little while. I wanted to talk to you. My name is Allen Path, I know who you are. You're Tai-Shi Kay, the second born son.

Tai-Shi stopped and looked up, a fragile look upon his face as he stared at Allen.

“May I please talk to you?” Allen asked looking to the side. He wasn't good with sort of thing, but he was forcing himself to do this.

Tai-Shi sat back, but didn't relax. Allen took a seat on the porch a little way away from Tai-Shi and gently smiled.

“The first time I saw you…wasn't exactly a way we should have met.” Allen said as he looked at the dirt, and the outline of his foot in it.

Tai-Shi silently listened, having not said a word.

“What Rei did…” Allen noticed Tai-Shi shift uncomfortably at the mention of his name, “…what he did, it hurt…didn't it?”

Tai-Shi slowly nodded, but didn't look at Allen.

“What he did to you, he did to me once before.” Allen said quietly, he didn't notice Tai-Shi slowly look up at him.

“I called for Sei…and he didn't come. No matter how many times, or how loud I called, he didn't come.” Allen continued.

Tai-Shi looked away at that, having the thoughts come back to him.

“So many times, I thought why? Why didn't he come? Why me?” He paused, “I hated myself. I hated anyone's touch, anyone's soft words. What Rei did to me…it still hurts. He scares me…” Allen slowly looked up.

“Why…”

Allen looked over to Tai-Shi as he heard the soft, shaky voice.

“Why…”

“Why?” Allen asked quietly.

“Why did he…” Tai-Shi asked, gently biting his lower lip.

“I don't know…” Allen sighed.

Tai-Shi looked away, gently biting his lower lip harder.

“After what happened, I didn't want to be seen, I was ashamed. I thought something was wrong with me because I didn't like it…Sei…I didn't speak to him or see him for many full moons pass…I just…wanted to be alone. I didn't want people seeing me, seeing what I was.” He paused as Tai-Shi watched him. “I thought everyone wanted to hurt me, but, when I thought about it, not everyone wanted to hurt me. Sei, he didn't want to hurt me. He wanted to help me. I looked at him, and I thought he was ashamed of me, but what I thought was the pain of being ashamed was a pain of guilt. Sei blamed himself. Do you understand?”

Tai-Shi shook his head.

“Alright, Sei…he's like Tai-Li. He took care of me when I grew up. He takes care of me even now. After what happened, he blamed himself for not being able to protect me. Tai-Li, he feels the same. He hurts, seeing you how you are now. He blames himself for not coming when you ca—”

“Tai-Li is upset?” Tai-Shi asked quickly. Allen was slightly startled at Tai-Shi's forcefulness in that question.

“He's hurt…his heart hurts. You're his younger brother, he's supposed to protect you, and he failed. He blames himself for what happened to you.” Allen said softly.

Tai-Shi crawled closer, “Tai-Shi's hurt?”

“It's an inside hurt…” Allen didn't know how else to explain it.

“An inside hurt?” Tai-Shi sat on his knees as he watched Allen.

“How do I explained…do you feeling anything here?” Allen paused as he lightly pointed at Tai-Shi's chest.

“It hurts…” He said softly, biting his lower lip again. “It hurts…”

“That is how Tai-Li feels.” Allen said softly. He crawled over towards Tai-Shi and pulled him into a gentle hug.

Tai-Shi didn't push Allen away, but leaned on Allen and cried.

“It hurts…”

Allen gently patted Tai-Shi's back, unfamiliar to how to comfort someone because he usually is the one being comforted.

“It hurts…”

Tai-Shi's voice was shaking as his breathing became heavier, and his voice cracked. All he could do was cry.

Sei sighed as he looked up at the sky. Tai-Li's jaw had dropped. He couldn't believe that Rei had done it before, and to Allen. Allen was such a fragile boy to begin with.

“Allen wasn't always like he is now. He used to be more daring, but since what happened with him and Rei, Allen stands back. He's afraid to take risks, and he has poor self-confidence. I've tried to help him. Teaching him that what Rei did was wrong. To sum it all up, Allen's slowly healing, but it's a long process for me. I don't want him to be hurt again. I would rather take things slow, then hurt him.”

Tai-Li nodded. He raised his hand to his chest; it still felt numb, like there was nothing there. After hearing what Sei told him, he didn't feel as guilty as he did before. Though, he was filled with even more anger the before. How could Rei do this?

Author's Note: That's chapter 8. I guess it's not that long. Though, I have planned out the next chapter, and two side stories. One, I'm hoping people will like, and if you are reading BT on Gaiaonline. You will not be able to read it unless you go to my site, or go to Media Miner and look up Bound Together, or the Author krad_is_my_angel. Oh, things get better people, believe me. Until next time.
