Hang Ups
“You're a disgrace!” Jenny screamed at her boyfriend, Billie. The young couple got into another one of their fights. The boy had cheated on his girl again. Jenny found out from a mutual friend of theirs. She confronted her boyfriend when he got home from school. That led to the fight right now. Billie stood on the doorstep looking in.
“Baby!” he pleaded. “She meant nothing to me!”
“And what about me?!?” his girl snapped. “Do I mean anything to you?” Billie went quiet there.
“Uh…” he said. Jenny glared at him. Wrong answer, buddy.
“Get out!” she yelled. Billie looked at her confused.
“What?” he asked.
“Get out, you dumb mother fucker!!!” his girl cried. She slammed the door in the boy's face.
“Jenny!” he yelled. “Wait, I can explain!” Silence. Billie looked down at his feet.
“Damn!” he muttered to himself. The boy walked away. The streets looked so dim this evening. Boy, he really messed up this time! It would take his all to patch it up again. Billie sighed. Where did he go wrong? He and Jenny used to be so happy. Now…
He remembered how they first met. It was six months ago even. He was a wild playboy then. In fact, the boy was looked for new blood at the time. He knew exactly where to get it.
The Skin was always open on the weekends for singles night. Teens and twenty-somethings flocked here to pick up a date. Billie just wanted to get laid. He sat at the bar looking. Tonight seemed pretty slim. The girls all looked the same to him. Saturday night at the Skin proved to be disappointing for him. He couldn't go home however. The party just got started. That's when he saw her.
This lovely blonde sat alone at the bar. Sure, she looked older than him. Billie didn't care however. That red dress she wore made her more desirable. The boy got up and walked over to the woman. She looked up at him like a Victorian woman. She saw a charming young boy coming towards her. He looked pretty cute for his age. Short dark brown hair, broad shoulders, green-blue eyes, and a nice body. The woman smiled to herself as she looked at him. “He'll do!” she thought. Billie sat down next to her.
“Hi,” he said.
“Hi,” the woman said back.
“I'm Billie!” the boy spoke. “And you are?”
“Jenny,” the woman said elegantly. “My name is Jenny.” Billie smiled at her overjoyed.
“Jenny,” he repeated. His eye of affection nodded.
“Yes,” she said. The boy was silent for a moment. Then, he began his launch into bad pick-up lines. Jenny laughed at them, but she stayed with him anyway. From that night onwards, Jenny and Billie formed a beautiful relationship. At the start, anyway.
Billie sighed. He just didn't know what to do anymore. He and Jenny had tried so hard to keep it together. Now… It just all seemed so pointless. Their friends kept saying break up. Billie did find Jenny quite annoying at times. Yet, he still loved her. So, what could he do?
In a few minutes, the boy found himself at his older brother's door. Billie drew in a deep breath and knocked on the door.
“Coming!” a voice said inside. The boy waited for a moment. The door opened wide. Tom looked out and saw his younger brother. The boy looked at him hopelessly. The man looked him up and down.
“Bill?” he asked. “What are you doing here? Problems with Jenny again?” His brother didn't answer. He didn't need to say anything. Tom's eyes filled with sympathy for him.
“Come in,” he said as he opened the door wider. Billie nodded and came into the apartment. His brother closed and locked the door behind them.
