Panda Chase
“Why are we so worried? I mean, we can't be found out here, right?”
Vivian asked. Everyone remained quiet. She looked just as worried
as the rest of the group.
“What should we do?” Anna Jane asked.
“We'll have to create a diversion,” Sgt. Ripley said.
“How do we do that?” Vivian asked.
“Meep!” George said. Anna Jane looked up at him.
“I think I have an idea,” she said. Vivian's face dropped.
“You can't be serious,” she said. She shivered at the thought.
Logan shrugged.
“I don't mind,” he said. “We don't have a choice, really.” The
geisha frowned.
“Seriously?” she asked. She let out a loud whine. George frowned.
Anna Jane patted him on the side.
“She doesn't mean it,” she whispered.
“Meep,” the creature said. So they all climbed into his belly. Anna
Jane went in last.
“How does this work?” Sgt. Patel asked. The little girl smiled.
“It just does,” she said. Anna Jane giggled. The sergeants just
look at each other. Vivian rolled her eyes.

Meanwhile, the Panda commander took out his binoculars and looked
out in the sand. He could see the trail leading north. A twinkle
formed in his eye.
“Found them,” he said. The panda blew his whistle. His troops
looked up. Their commander waved them over. They all lined up.
“Forward, march!” their commander yelled. The army marched out of
the base. The humans looked up. They knew where they were heading.
A private ran to the bell tower. The ringing filled the air.
---------
George paused when he heard the bell ring.
“What's wrong?” Anna Jane asked.
“They are on to us,” Sgt. Ripley said. “We have to move.”
“George!” Anna Jane shouted. The creature couched to the
ground.
“Hang on tight,” Anna Jane said.
“What?” Sgt. Patel asked. George leapt up into the sky. He moved
faster than a bullet. Anna Jane laughed.
“Wheee!” she shouted.
“He can fly?” Sgt. Ripley asked.
“Yeah!” the little girl said. Her laughter filled his belly. Vivian
tried to hang on.
“I don't like this!” she wailed.
“Where are we going?” Anna Jane asked.
“We're taking you to the sea,” Sgt. Ripley said. “There's another
base there!”
“Ah!” the girl said. George sailed through the night sky.
“Meep!” he shouted.
----------
The army stood stunned in the sand. The footsteps stopped here. The
commander gritted his teeth. He pulled out his hand radio.
“Yes,” he said. “We've got a little problem. We're going to need a
little help. Get the cannons ready!” He turned off his radio. The
commander held up his hand. The soldiers stood straighter. Time to
move out.
--------
Meanwhile, another army prepared to attack. Guns and cannons were
ready to fire. George started to fly into view. Ready… Aim…
Fire!
