Chapter II
~For You, With Love~
Meanwhile back at the office, Jesse kept on pacing back and forth until the Kali thought that the floor would eventually give in and dropped Jesse into the ground. “Do you think it is wrong to send her there?” Jesse asked Kali while pacing around the room. “You are the commander, thus there cannot be any wrong in your decision…” Kali paused. “Even though I know full well that her brother wanted her dead?” Jesse finally stopped pacing and looked over at the other girl that showed nearly no expression at all. It is like she's wearing a mask, and the only time that mask of hers come off was when Kris is around.
“I am sure that there won't be such incident to let us speculate that it is her brother that is trying to rid of her. Many of the people would like to see her died, because she's too hard to be buying-over for things they wanted from her family's business.” Kali explained in a cool manner. “You might be right, but I just can't shake the feelings that her brother is somehow involved in all of this.” Jesse sighed. “That man bares such a grim expression on his face twenty four seven,” she finally flopped down on the sofa and massaged her temples.
“Jerek is an ambitious man, and he will stop at nothing to achieve his goal. Would you like me to keep on eye on them?” Kali spoke softly. “Life has been very lonely until you met her isn't it?” Jesse said looking up at the other girl with gentle gaze. “Kali, we're no longer Valkyries and the battle never suit you anyway. Look at what the last battle of the Gods left you?” Jesse said as she clenched her fists until the knuckles turned white. “I'm fine sister, it was our duty back then.” Kali said sitting down next to Jesse and took her hands within her hands. “This time, I want to protect something precious to me and not to someone else. I will not let that man laid a finger on her,” Kali said firmly yet her face still expressionless like usual.
“You've grown and changes so much since Kris came two weeks ago,” Jesse whispered giving her sister a tight hug that would break a normal person's bones. “She is... special,” Kali said as her cheeks turned slightly pink for the first time in who knows how many decades or longer than that. “Well, just make sure that you stay hidden and don't act on impulse. I have a feeling that this will be an event that will change our precious girl forever, whether it's for good or bad is still unknown. I could only hope for the best,” Jesse let out a light sigh as she smiled at her little sister warmly.
Without even leaving the house, Kali teleported herself to where Kris is without breaking a sweat. It is something normal people will never be able to do without relying on some kind of technology, but Kali done it by just concentrating her thought on Kris. Being an immortal does have its good and bad things that come with the price tag as a once proud battle maiden Valhalla. Furthermore, since the last battle in Midgard, Kali lost most of her body parts and was replaced with men's most advanced synthetic parts. Jesse being unable to see another sister of hers died again, and so she cast away her title and took Kali with her into the mortal realm.
Kris was all curled up on the floor when Kali arrived; the silver hair noticed something glowing dimly on Kris's neck. It seemed to be a mark of some kind; the thing seemed to be fleeting as Kali reached out when she felt a dark aura emitting from it. Soon those closed eyes fluttered lightly before opening fully, Kali quickly stepped into the shadow to avoid being seen by the tomboy.
Kris opened her hazel eyes and realized she was laying on the floor, remembering what happened she sat up and rubbed her neck feeling a slight burning sensation on the right side. She got up and removed her jacket; throwing it on her bag as she stretched her body to loosen any cramped muscles from laying on the floor for god know how long. But the thumping sound in the room next to her caused her to stop stretching, just as an unearthly noise started to echo causing the poor girl to drawn her gun and cautiously opened her door and moved down the hall.
The noises become louder as she come closer to the room that Dan is staying in, Kris didn't bothered to knock but kicked the door down instead. She quickly discovered the unearthly noises was from the maid that Dan was getting busy with, though she trained her gun right at her partner without flinching.
“I suppose there's a very good explanation for this,” Kris said looking at the expression of fear in the maid's eyes and embarrassment on Dan's face. They quickly stopped their act and get dressed and fast as possible, though Dan only got his pants on and is still half-naked. “Man, can't a guy have some quality time with a woman?” Dan said turning to face Kris showing off his rock hard body.
“You, leave…” Kris said pointing her gun at the maid and she dashed out of the room as fast as her shaking knees would let her. “DD, come closer will you?” Kris said as she put her gun away looking almost embarrassed. “Ohh... if you want some, just say so.” Dan said licking his lips as he took a few steps forward in Kris's direction. “I'm sorry, but it's too hard to say it…” Kris said looking away. “Aw… then let me teach you how to make sweet love,” Dan said as he closed his eyes ready to kiss Kris.
Like a roaring thunder, Dan was sent flying by Kris's high kick to the face. “Be glad I'm not wearing my shoes,” Kris said waiting for her partner to get up. “Ow, what the fuck is your problem? This is exactly why you don't have a boyfriend,” Dan exclaimed rubbing his cheek feeling the pain of the kick. “Look, I don't care who you screw and where but doing it with a maid and in this house is a no-no. We're here on an assignment, not on a vacation. Besides that, you're becoming a whore instead of a player.” Kris said bluntly shrugging her shoulders. “You just jealous because you didn't have some of this,” Dan said grabbing his crotch. “This is coming from a man-whore,” Kris shook her head and rolled her eyes in disgust. “Anyway, I'm going to the laboratory so clean up.” Kris managed not to throw her partner another kick just because she wanted to and left before he could try to come up with another smart-ass comeback.
“Uh, why are we going there this late?” Dan said coming out of the house leaving the old butler by the door wondering what' going on. “I have a hunch that what we're looking for will be there at this time of the day,” Kris replied pulling something out of her backpack before throwing it into the backseat. “Here, we'll need this to get pass the securities at the underground laboratory.” Kris said handing Dan an ID tag after she started the engine. “What? How did you get this? It's the company's legit identification card,” Dan exclaimed as he examined the tag before putting it on. “I'm the daughter of the owner?” Kris retorted shaking her head lightly as they peeled from the mansion into the busy mainstream traffic of the evening time.
With Kris's psychotic driving skill, they made it to the Neo-Pharmaceutical in less then ten minutes. “Next time… I drive,” Dan said as soon as Kris got the car parked. He quickly opened the door and fell right onto the ground; Kris could hear him throwing up profusely as she got out. “Unbelievable, you have a weak stomach for dead bodies and fast speed. Yet you're still working as a cop for a private office,” Kris said checking her guns one last time. “You drive… like shit,” Dan managed to said before another round of hurling started. “If you think I'm bad, just pray that you never have to go anywhere with Jesse driving. Your organs might explode,” girl sounded amazingly sarcastic.
Like Kris said, they didn't get checked by the securities and was able to make their way down into the underground lab. “You smell it?” Dan asked when Kris stopped dead in the dimly lit hallway. “Oddly enough, I think my brother have something to do with this mess.” Kris said in a very low tone. “Jerek?” Dan asked as they walked quickly toward the door at the end of the hallway. “Yeah, remember when he swipe-kicked you? Old man said he been very strange lately, and when I said lately I mean a few years now.” Kris said as the door opened automatically leading them into a huge empty room.
“We're expected,” Kris murmured drawing her guns. “Oh great,” Dan said dramatically as he too drawn his gun. With the door shut tightly behind them, the duo knows that there would be no escape from what to come. The sound of footsteps echoed ever so lightly at the dark end of the room, someone was approaching them in the shadow. “I got a really bad feeling about this,” Dan whispered as he aimed his gun at the darkness that seemed to have no end in front of him. “Kinda late to say that now,” Kris added.
“The Boss said to give you a warm welcome,” a man in suit, said emerging from the shadow with another man with him. “Oh, my brother sends for a welcoming committee. How nice of him,” Kris said sarcastically as usual. “As soon as we have an opening, run like hell. These men aren't your average bodyguards,” Kris whispered to Dan. “Ya think?” Dan retorted. “Jackass,” Kris murmured. “If I'm one, then so are you.” Dan said cocking his gun and ready to shoot.
The men pulled out something similar to the syringe and stabbed on their neck before pressing on the button at the end of the syringe, injecting glowing red liquid into their body. Dan and Kris looked on as the men slowly changed from normal into amazingly muscular, so muscular that their clothes ripped from their body making them looking like giants from ancient times. Their facial become distorted, changing them into something that resembled more of an animal features than human. They are starting to look a lot like ogres in Kris's eyes, and they actually does look rather hideous.
With inhuman strength, they extended their arms and swiped the duo to the wall. “Damn, that hurt…” Dan murmured as he pulled himself off the floor. “DD, when was the last time you got into a brawl?” Kris groaned slightly peeling herself off the wall instead of the floor. Even though they got great reflexes, the pair could only deflected so much damage aiming for them but the brute strength did caused them to be in a bit of pain. “Not since junior high, why?” Dan replied as he got some shots off at the two monsters walking to them slowly. “Bullets doesn't really effect them all that much,” Kris said putting her guns away as she coughed up a mouthful of blood.
“What they injected into their body was the B-virus, also known as the Beast Gene. Technically speaking, with enough amount of the B-virus your body will mutate depends on how much you injected into your body. It can enhance your muscle or changed you into them,” Kris explained wiping the blood from the corner of her mouth. “So it's better than steroid?” Dan seemed curious regardless of the situation. “Yeah, but these shit stay in your body permanently. So with time, you'll eventually turned into a Beast like them regardless of using little dosage over time or one huge dose just one time. It fuck you up either way,” Kris said in a less than friendly tone and when was she ever friendly to begin with as Dan noted to himself.
“DD, distract for a minute will you?” Kris asked before backing away. “What?! No, hell no.” Dan protested. “You want to get out alive or not?” Kris said in a hush tone of voice. “Ya think?” “Then just do it,” Kris tried not to raise her voice so the men won't hear their conversation. “Whatever evil plan you're planning, make it quick.” Dan said with a grin on his face suddenly. “Dick,” Kris laughed as she pulled her guns out again and reassembled them into what seemed to be a small grenade launcher.
Dan was skillful with his mix martial arts, but he could only dodges and isn't able to attack the two monsters trying to kill him with every hit. They put all their attention on him, while Kris moved silently over to the closed door and put the muzzle of the grenade launcher on the door. A deafening sound of explosion sent echoing into the large room causing the monstrous men to stop momentarily, giving Dan a chance to make a run for the open door to escape.
“Run you idiot!” Kris shouted throwing her weapon to Dan as the men quickly reacted by rushing at her. Dan caught the weapon and just keep on running without looking back, because he got no choice and his partner would be very pissed if he get caught. Unable to escape, Kris stayed and fought a loosing battle until one of them caught her by the head with his giant hand and smashed her into the ground so hard that it knocked her out cold. They know not to crack her skull but hard enough to ring her unconscious, since Jerek specifically told them not to kill her.
Kali could only watched from the shadow in silent, because Jesse limited her power. She could only use Shadow Step, a low form of teleportation skills. It pained her to see Kris being knocked unconscious and dragged away to a lab full of tanks and blinking lights of the computers that monitor those tanks. Each tank contain a body in different stages of infection from the B-virus, they all seemed to be sleeping breathing through the mask on their face. Kris wasn't being put in a tank, but rather chained to a wall that surrounded by tanks and computers. It seemed strange as though it was made just for this event, as if Jerek has foresaw everything until now.
A/N: Yay, another chapter done. Thanks for reading and commenting (if there's any ^.^) and once again, there's yet to be anything really lemon besides Dan having his fun with a maid at Kris's family's home.
