Lee hit the floor with a thud and sat up. He rubbed his head and sat up. What time was it anyway? It felt like late morning, but he wasn't sure. It was so hard to tell time when one was underground. He glanced at Ryo's sleeping figure and smiled. He could get so possessive of the bed at times. He walked into the adjacent room and stretched. He spread his wings and yawned.

"Good. You're up. She brought a fresh tray of food. Have some," D said as he turned around.

"What time is it?" Lee inquired.

"Eleven. The old man said that we should be on out way. They said that the darkness is thickening."

"Where's Ikara?"

"Outside. I dared not wake Ryoshan."

"I'll take care of him. Is there some food left for Ryo?"

"Yes."

"He doesn't eat much," Lee said as he walked back to where Ryo slept. He crawled beside him and gently shook him. Ryo opened an eye and yawned.

"What do you want?" he asked and attempted to turn over. Lee held him back and Ryo closed his eyes.

"It's time to get up honey."

"I don't have to work today. What the hell are you doing here anyway? How did you get in? I never gave you a key."

"Ryoshan…"

"Don't call me that. Wait. Where the hell am I? Damn I'm tired."

"Are you awake now?"

"Yeah I'm awake. What time is it? Would you get off of me?"

"Eleven. My you're grumpy this morning."

"Quit the sarcasm. We need to get going," Ryo said as he stood up and stretched.

"You're taller," Lee said as he watched Ryo's muscles.

"I don't have to adhere to human height, you know. You remember when we used to be able to be our true selves in our own apartments. Before the humans increased their murders, I mean. Speaking of humans, where is he?"

"Outside. D saved some food for you."

Ryo nodded his head and walked into the other room. He stopped and spread his wings as D walked up to him carrying a plate of food. He flexed his wings for a moment then stopped when Lee kissed his rump. He felt Lee spread his legs and closed his eyes for a moment then grabbed Lee's hand. Lee yelped in pain as he fell to the floor. Ryo walked over to the bath and stepped into the water. D sat next to Ryo and held out the plate. Ryo picked up a couple of cherries and placed them inside his mouth.

"You're bleeding down there," Lee said as he licked blood off his hand.

"I know," Ryo said as he tore off a small piece of meat that sat on the plate. Lee watched in concern as he reached for Ryo.

"Are you all right darling?"

"I will be. I need to rinse off. Hold the plate back D."

Lee watched Ryo disappear underneath the water and moved back as Ryo surfaced. He climbed out of the water and shook the water off of his body. He flexed his wings and glanced at Lee, who was dripping wet. He helped Lee up and kissed him. Lee protested as Ryo's tongue entered his mouth and sighed.

"It's eleven-thirty," D said and Ryo stepped away from Lee. Ryo licked the excess saliva from his mouth and smiled broadly at Lee. Lee gasped for air as Ryo picked up his clothing.

"Get dressed," Ryo said as Lee stood gasping for air.

"You kicked me out of bed this morning," Lee managed to say.

"You poor thing."

"You get so possessive of the bed dear."

"Don't blame me for anything that I do while I'm asleep."

"You really were close to me last night. You wrapped your wings around me. You looked so sweet asleep."

"What?"

"You did. We were on each other for a long time last night. Then you kicked me out of bed."

"You're not making this up, are you?"

"Would I make this up, honey?"

Ryo fastened his belt around his waist and slipped on his gloves. He picked up a comb and ran it through his hair. D took Ryo's free hand and began to file his nails. Ryo glanced at D and then at Ikara who had just entered the room.

"You're human again. Why?" Ikara asked and Ryo looked at him.

"We're leaving. Thank you D," Ryo said as D moved to his other hand.

"Is everything taken care of with the horses?"

"The horses are fine," D replied.

"Good. Are you dressed Lee?"

"I'm dressed," Lee replied.

Lee's back hit the wall and Lee drew his breath in sharply. Ryo kissed his eyes and moved down to his nose. His mouth touched Lee's lips and Lee allowed Ryo to explore his mouth once more. Lee closed his eyes as Ryo kissed his neck. He moved his mouth to Lee's shoulder and Lee took Ryo's free hand into his.

"So are we leaving soon?" Ikara asked.

"Don't disturb them," D said as Ryo moved down to Lee's chest.

"But shouldn't we…?"

"What did I do?" Lee asked as he wiped the blood from his face. Ryo said nothing as he moved away from Lee. Humans. Humans and their ignorance. It was sometimes degrading to realize that they were descended from demons. Intelligence was obviously something that hadn't been passed down to the sub-species.

"Let's go," Ryo said as he attached his sword to his belt.

"Thanks a lot," Lee said to Ikara as he watched Ryo walk out of the room.

"I was just asking," Ikara said as Lee walked past him.

"I'm getting more abuse from him because you're around."

"I thought he didn't abuse you."

"Look would you shut up? If you don't understand then keep quiet. As D said, he allowed you to come along. Be more accepting of our life. It's been around longer than yours."

"Are you coming?" Ryo asked as he walked back into the room.

"D he's going to ride with you," Lee said and Ryo looked at him.

"What happened?"

"Nothing. Let's go."

"Are you pissed off with me?"

"No love. Why would I be upset with you?"

"I guess I've been a little rough with you. I'm sorry. The way life is really pisses me off."

"That's understandable. I don't fault you love. I know that you're going to get even rougher with me. It's how you deal with your anger. I understand."

"There's my horse. He looks ready to leave. Lee…"

"I'm sorry. I'm wound up for some reason."

"You're sexually excited for some reason. Please stop."

"How long will it be until we get there?"

"We should get to another safe haven by tonight," Ryo said as he got on his horse.

"Thank you for allowing us to stay the night," D said to the elderly couple.

"He's got potential Lee."

"Yes he does. Which way are we going dear Ryoshan?" Lee asked as he got on his horse.

Ryo looked up at the sky and headed off to the east. Lee followed him as Ryo gazed at the surrounding forest. He watched Ryo stroke Nightwing's mane and sighed. Ryo's ears perked up and he looked at Lee.

"What's wrong now?" Ryo asked as Lee drew up alongside him.

"Nothing. I was just watching you."

"There was more to that sigh than that. You're desiring some physical contact, aren't you?"

"You cut it short this morning."

"That wasn't my fault."

"You didn't have to hurt me."

"I apologized, didn't I?"

"Yes you did. I'm sorry I shouldn't have brought it up. I was completely wrong honey."

"Here. They're growing wild on my side."

He handed Lee a flower and Lee took it. He put the flower in his hair and Ryo smiled. He truly cared for Lee even though at times their relationship was more like master and servant than lovers. Lee watched Ryo's tongue with interest as Ryo absent-mindedly licked his lips. Ryo glanced at him and took his hand.

"It's quiet out here," Lee commented as Ryo stopped his horse. "What now?"

"Get on," he said and Lee looked at him.

"What?"

"Get on. Ikara can take Eveningsong."

Lee got off of his horse and climbed onto Nightwing. He placed his arms around Ryo's waist and Ryo stiffened slightly as Lee rubbed his groin. He didn't need his senses aroused. Not while he was riding his horse. He held Lee's hand and Lee smiled contentedly.

"Is your relationship the norm for your people?" Ikara asked.

"What do you mean?" Ryo asked.

"I mean, you know how people react to male relationships. Do your people react the same way? Do they get freaked out by how…close you two are?"

"This relationship is expected of a prince."

"Especially a prince that is a direct descendant from the original ruler. Besides, male relationships are the preferred relationship. Especially when it comes to intimacy," Lee said as he ran his fingers down Ryo's back.

"Then how do you get offspring?"

"I believe that it would be in your best interest to stop questioning," D said as Ryo brought his horse to a gallop.

"Is there a reason why we're going so fast?" Lee inquired and shut his eyes as Nightwing jumped over a small chasm. Ryo grinned at Lee's actions as he slowed the horse to a trot.

"You can loosen your grip. We're safe," Ryo said as he brought his horse alongside a small creek. He jumped off of Nightwing and crouched beside the water. He gazed intently at the water for a moment then put a stick into the creek. He removed the stick and studied it. After laying the stick on the ground, he cupped his hands and placed them into the water.

"What are you doing?" Ikara asked as Ryo slowly drank the water. He said nothing as he stood up.

"Let them drink. It's safe. Stay here. I'm going to check the area," Ryo said and took a step forward. Lee grabbed his arm and Ryo glanced at him. He saw the fear in Lee's eyes and gently kissed him. He ran his fingers through his hair and smiled.

"I won't be gone long. I need to see where we are. Make sure he doesn't get into trouble, okay? I'll be fine. I lived out here for six years, remember?"

"Yes dear," Lee said and flinched when Ryo ran his nails across his cheek. He watched Ryo disappear into the forest and sighed. He couldn't help worrying. He had been worrying the entire time Ryo was on the outside on his own and trying to survive. He didn't want anything to happen to his beloved. He couldn't stand going on without him.
