-Two years ago-

I was in my room, as usual for me at this age. I was playing my video games, the old ones, only ones my poor family could afford. It was all going great, my parents weren't home to bother me, and I was eating cereal and playing with no interruption. That is, until the phone call. That one that changed my life.
“Hello?” I answered. A voice came over the handset, and after the explanation, I broke down in tears. I fell to the cold tile floor, not believing what happened. Soon I was picked up and rushed to the hospital.
My parents were in a wreck. A big one. My mother was in a coma and my father was most likely not going to survive. I couldn't stop crying, I didn't want to believe it, but it was true. I was losing my family, the only ones that loved me.

-The Present-

I was grown up now, a freshman in high school. Of course, I was late for my first day. I ran towards the door of our small condo, pulling on my grey hoodie and slinging my pack over one shoulder. “Bye mom!” I yelled as I opened the door. “Have a nice day Chris,” she mumbled back, slurring her words. After that day two years ago, I lost my father and my mother became a lazy ass and a drunk. I was there for myself, and only myself.
