“Jason?” The female voice startled him and he flipped around, nearly falling into his suitcase. Natalie paused, just looking at him for a moment, his face was red, especially around his eyes, had he been crying?

“Oh,” He swallowed and turned away from her quickly, sweeping a hand over his face to make sure he was rid of the tears. “Hi, Natalie,” His hands were still shaking as he folded his clothes. He didn't want to talk at the moment; he just wanted her to leave.

“Going somewhere?” She asked shyly, but trying to be as friendly as she could. She hardly knew him after all, only his name, and basic appearance, they'd never talked. She did know that he was Shane's good friend, and something about the tears and the packing up only could've pointed to one thing. Jason was leaving, but the odd thing was that Shane had said they'd be staying there for a few weeks.

“Yeah, as soon as I can,” Jason murmured and continued to pack his things into the suitcase. Natalie knew something was very wrong, but she also knew it was none of her business.

“Mind if I ask why?” She took a step into the room slowly.

“Ask your brother,” Jason replied coldly. He sighed, he hadn't been in the mood to pack even before he started, he just wanted to flip the suitcase over and leave empty handed. Hell, in truth he wasn't sure he wanted to leave at all…

“Did you know… that me and him were like…together?” Jason dropped everything and just sat down on the guest bed, running a hand through his hair.

“You are?” Shane had left out that small detail. “I thought you were straight though… I mean, Shane told me that,” She was nervous and a little unsure about the situation she was in, she'd never been good at making people feel better, and Jason looked like he needed cheering up.

“Were,” He corrected her. “I am straight, I always was, always will be, I just fucked up and fell for his…” He'd almost forgotten he was talking to Shane's sister; it wasn't his best idea to insult him in front of her. “…For him,” His gaze fell to the floor. “Tony called me about ten minutes ago and told me he was with another guy, that's why I'm leaving,” He mumbled and, just to occupy his eyes and hands, continued putting the clothes into his suitcase.

“He cheated on you?” Natalie was actually surprised, she'd never known her brother to be a cheater, but then again she didn't know much about his love life at all. “That's horrible,” She came almost running into the room and sat down next to him, placing a hand on his shoulder. “I'm really sorry, I don't know why he would do something like that, I…”

“It's okay, you have nothing to do with it. I just wish I hadn't grown so attached… you know,” He paused. “I think I was actually starting to fall in love with him,” His palms were sweaty. “It's a good thing I didn't, I guess,” He chuckled. He was trying to laugh but he was still bleeding inside, and all though the sound came out, the only expression on his face was sorrow.

“I'll help you pack,” Natalie suggested. “Anything you need from downstairs, the bathroom? Anything I can get?” She felt a little guilty, it wasn't her fault at all really, but this was he brother. She didn't know what she was going to do when he came home, she wasn't sure she even wanted to talk to him.

“I'd love a good Miller Light,” Jason requested. Getting drunk sounded good, he'd been staying away from alcohol because Shane had asked him to, but now none of that mattered. It was his sad attempt at looking at the bright side; he honestly couldn't find a bright side to this at all. Natalie smiled, sympathy and sweetness shown clearly through it, Jason forced himself to smile back as she left the room.

Shane left the room and closed the door slowly, staring at the sweat on his hand. It had long dripped off of him from the sex, he was sweating now because he was nervous, this couldn't have ended well. When he looked up Tony was looking at him, arms crossed with an unreadable expression. Nathan had refused him when he'd tried to continue the kiss; apparently he wasn't happy about what he'd done to Shane. But Nate didn't understand that it was for Shane's own good… wasn't it?

“Tony?” Shane was now standing right next to him. Tony's head snapped back up when he realized he was looking at the ground. “Did you…” He paused. “Did you hear that?” He ran his tongue of his dry lips nervously, he knew if Tony had heard it then he was in big trouble.

“Hear what?” Tony gave him a completely clueless innocent look. Shane stared at his eyes, he hoped Tony was telling the truth, but there was something that told him otherwise. Without another word he turned and headed down the stairs, he was almost chilled by the thought of telling Jason. One thing he knew was that if Jason did forgive him, he'd never, ever do anything to come this close to losing him again. Still, even with that he felt like nothing but a slut, if Jason didn't forgive him… well, he didn't want to think about that.

The first thing he did was call out a name as he stepped into the house, the emptiness giving him a very uneasy feeling. Maybe Jason was still sleeping? It would have been odd, and could have meant he was sick, but it would explain the fact that he was obviously not down stairs.

“Jase!” Shane called again as he headed up the stairs. He could hear voices when he reached the top, not completely sure of whose they were, only the genders, one male, one female. He saw that Jason's room was wide open and slowly headed toward it, thinking out and reciting what he was going to say inside his head. He stepped into the doorway and looked into the room, he and Jason locked eyes immediately. The look on Jason's face broke his heart, the clothes on the bed, the suitcase; it couldn't have been what it looked like. Jason turned away from him as Natalie scowled at him, but Shane had hardly noticed her.

“Jase,” Shane swallowed. “What are you doing?” He asked softly. Jason felt guilty but he didn't know why, he hadn't done anything wrong, he was setting things right. He couldn't answer, hiding his face as he felt an unexpected tear roll down his cheek. Natalie gave him a sympathetic glance before standing up and walking toward the door. Shane backed away from her; she was giving him that look, the thing that scared him most about girls.

“What's it look like he's doing, leave him alone,” She slammed the door in his face. Shane stood silently, staring at the patterns in the wood that had suddenly disabled him from seeing into the room. He wondered how Jason would have known, but not long after it became obvious. Tony, his eyes narrowed and he stepped back, having thoughts to go back to Marty's and kick the shit out of the little snitch. How could he have done that, it wasn't any of his business! Dammit, if he'd gotten a chance to tell Jason himself then he may not have been standing outside a closed door with his love getting ready to leave him.

Even though he felt angry, it seemed he couldn't really show it, the thought of actually going back to Marty's to confront Tony seemed less desirable than killing himself. What would have been so damn easy at that time was to lie down and die, and that was exactly what he wanted to do. In the back of his mind he knew it wasn't the end of the world, and that's what he kept telling himself. But he'd disappointed himself in so many ways, his inability to resist pleasure, the fact that he knew he wasn't strong enough to talk this over with Jason, to prove how sorry he was.

Shane fell against the wall next to the door miserably and slid down onto his butt. He'd really fucked himself over, and the worst part was that he knew this would happen before he caused it and yet he'd done nothing to stop it. Was he really that much of a careless whore? Not to mention he was disappointed in Tony as well. He knew it wasn't really Tony's fault in the long run, but he also knew that he would've been able to tell Jason the truth his way if it hadn't been for Tony. As for Marty, Shane knew he really wasn't the one to blame, he'd started it, but the problem was that Shane hadn't been open to stopping it. Hell, for all Marty knew, Shane was single and had nothing to lose… but he'd been wrong, so wrong. The more he thought about it the more Shane began to realize it was all his fault, and that pained him.

He shot up to his feet as the room door opened beside him, the last thing he wanted Jason to see was that he was pouting on the floor. Jason looked at him, wearing an unreadable expression, holding a packed suitcase in his hand.

“I…” He began, swallowing his saliva and avoiding Shane's eyes as he continued. “I'm going to leave soon… sometime within the next few days if I can get Davy to take me back. So you won't have to… you won't have to deal with me anymore,” He stuttered, rubbing the back of his neck. “Sorry for wasting your time with my prudeness,” He said and then continued around Shane. Shane's heart shattered, the fact that Jason was leaving, that he expected Shane to be glad that he wouldn't be around anymore? But especially the last sentence.

“Jason…” Shane made sure to use his full name, though he'd become accustomed to using one of the nicknames. He assumed that Jason would no longer be giving him the permission to use either one of them. Shane was glad when Jason stopped and turned to him, at least he hadn't chosen to completely ignore him. Natalie was hanging back, still in Jason's room, just watching. “Jason, I am so sorry,” Shane practically hollered the words. “This isn't what I wanted… I swear! I didn't mean to hurt you, I wasn't thinking, please give me a chance…” Shane ended up begging. “I know Tony must've made it sound bad but I've felt horrible ever since I realized what I'd done… I don't want to lose you, I can't lose you, please!” He put his hands on Jason's shoulders as Jason stared into his eyes. He looked sorry, in fact it was easy enough to tell that he was horribly sorry, but sorry didn't always cut it. Jason wasn't going to forgive him, that much he'd decided for sure, not anytime soon anyway.

“Shane, please don't waste my time, I'm spending the nights at Clark's dad's house, don't ask for the number…” Jason bit his lip, apprehensive about spending time with Clark. But since he was about to do exactly what Clark had asked him to, he felt it was safe. “…I don't ever want to see you again, all right? Just leave me alone, please,” With that he headed toward the stairs. Natalie watched Shane intently, positive that Shane wasn't going to leave him alone, ever. She knew her brother, and she also knew that it's near impossible to break up with him if he wants to keep you. Shane was only aware of this in his sub-conscious, but he wasn't about to let Jason go just the same.

“No. No, no, no, no, no!” Shane started yelling. “No, listen to me, I was a whore, I fucked another man, yes, I did! But god dammit Jase I've learned my lesson! Just by all the shit you just said… the way you're looking at me, oh god, please!” Shane was falling into Jason's silver eyes; the look on his face really was heart breaking. “I won't do it again…” Shane continued “Just give me one more chance… I'll do anything, and I'll do it right,” He liked the way that Jason had paused; perhaps he was thinking about it?

“I know you're sorry Shane, and I know you won't do it again, but this was a mistake from the start, I liked you… I really did,” His voice trailed off, realizing he'd strayed from his original point. “This would've never worked, it's better we break up now than later,” He shrugged. He wasn't sure Shane deserved any sympathy, but he felt obligated to give it, he couldn't deny the watery eyes and the pouting lips. It was almost amazing what Shane could do to him with just a look, but little did he know he had the same effect on the other.

“Don't go to Clark's,” Shane temporarily changed his objective. “At least stay here until your uncle can take you back home… just give me that much,” He requested. Jason thought about it for a long time, he liked the idea in most cases, but the fear of Shane winning him back with his charm was what kept him from complying.

“No…” Jason sighed. “I'll call you before I leave though, if you want, that is,” He said. Shane knew he was in no position to negotiate anymore, and for now that sounded like the best thing he was going to get.

“Okay,” Shane said in acceptance and then stepped back. He watched Jason pull the suitcase down the stairs, hoping this somewhat meant they were still considerably friends? At least not strangers or enemies, he would've even accepted acquaintance at the time, knowing how much he'd fucked up.

“It'll work out, Shane,” Natalie said sympathetically, crossing the room to go into her own. She gave him a shrug and shut the door, a gesture that hadn't assured him of her statement at all.

Shane needed to talk to someone just to get his mind of this, at least he'd been able to convince Jason not to hate him, but he was still down about the whole subject. He thought about his options, definitely not Tony, not this time; Mark probably wouldn't give a rat's ass, or if he did, wouldn't be able to show it. He sighed and flipped out his phone, scanning the call list until he reached the C's and chose a name.

Carly hadn't realized her phone was in her pants, and had a mind to hit `ignore' as the Beethoven Fifth Symphony played from inside her pocket.
“Don't, Carly, not now,” A female voice whined out while continuing to give her boyfriend a lap dance.

“Just hold on a minute, Jen, it's Shane,” Carly stepped away from the recliner chair, almost tripping over her pants that were half on. Jenny let out an annoyed groan but ignored her, shoving her tongue into the boy's mouth.

“Shane?” Carly answered, pulling her pants back up all the way and fixing her bra strap. She scowled at the two behind her when a loud, obvious moan came from male vocal cords.

“Hi, is this a bad time?” Shane asked, hearing the moan. Carly frowned, it honestly was a bad time, but Shane sounded somewhat depressed and it wasn't really in her nature to ignore that.

“No, it's fine, Jenny and Chase are over but I can talk,” She headed into the next room, shutting the door behind her so that the noise wasn't quite as audible. Shane got a graphic image in his head, one he didn't like, thinking how many times Carly had said to have had a threesome with Jennifer and Chase. “So what's up?” She sat in a chair and leaned back, admiring the purple and black nail polish that she'd applied to her toes.

“Well, I'm just a little bummed, my boyfriend, Jason just broke up with me and I need someone to keep my mind off of it… I don't know… maybe a movie or something?” Shane shrugged to himself. Carly frowned, it was far from the first time she'd heard Shane tell her he'd lost a boyfriend, but this was one of the rare times that he was down about it.

“All right sure, whatever you want, just come on over to my place okay?” She told him in an enthusiastic voice.

“All right, thanks Car, I'll be there in a about fifteen minutes… I'm walking,” Shane replied.

“Aright, see-ya then,” She clicked the end button and slid tossed her phone into the chair next to her. She then headed into her room to get the nail polish and hair dye. Fifteen minutes may have been just enough time to get herself ready to present. In anyone else's eyes, she looked fine, but with her hair down and completely straight, wearing no make-up, she couldn't help but start messing with her appearance.

She was glad Shane had called, honestly she was much more interested in spending her time with him then with a couple that never stopped touching each other.

When Carly answered the door her hair was in a messy, spiked pony-tail with pink and black streaks. Her nails were purple and black, one arm was bare, and the other was half covered with bracelettes and wrist bands. She had on a pink shirt and a black skirt with inch high heals and just enough make up on. She knew what went well with her appearance, and body shape, what she looked good in, and how to position everything she put on. Shane was almost uncomfortable around her, knowing that if he ever met a girl he considered attractive in his own eyes, it was Carly.

“You know what bothers me,” Carly leaned against the door frame, looking Shane up and down and then biting her lip. “The fact that I know you didn't take more than two minutes to get ready, and you're gonna catch more eyes than I am,” She pouted. Shane rolled his eyes and chuckled at her, as he was invited into the house.

“Just stay downstairs and you probably won't be bothered by the way the house is shaking,” Carly laughed and jumped up on Shane's back, wrapping her arms around his neck and squeezing him tightly. Shane put his hands under her thighs to hold her up, a little uneasy by the thought of Carly wearing a skirt with her legs wrapped around him. Still, it was like a tradition that she spent most of their time together on his back, so he kept his issues to himself.

“So, who's the big bad meanie head that's been bothering my Shaney Waney,” She nuzzled his shoulder with a humorous smile and then rested her chin next to his neck.

“Oh,” Shane paused, “Well, I am,” He shrugged. He knew it was a pointless answer, but a true one. “I cheated on this guy that I really, really like, and he found out, and he left me. I just need to get my mind off it…” He sighed, running a hand through his hair. Carly hugged him tighter and stroked his shoulder.

“Aww, it's okay, I can't think of anyone who'd be able to stay away from you for something little like cheating,” She said. Shane rolled his eyes, knowing that Carly wasn't really with the whole dating process, it was almost as if she was still in a decade that she'd never existed in at all. “So who is he?” She asked, realizing that her statement wasn't helping.

“Jason…” Shane said shortly, his voice trailing off before he could go into any description.

“Mmm,” Carly leaned her head against his. “That's a nice name,” She commented. They stayed quiet for a while, Shane was just thinking, and Carly just held onto him for the sake of letting him know she was there for him. She had an urge to kiss his ear, knowing how sensitive they were to touch, but she resisted and just kept her cheek pressed against the back of his head.

“If you don't mind me asking,” She said suddenly. “How'd things go with Derek that day, did you get to do him?” She asked. Shane though back to the day that Derek had brought him back to Marty's place, where he saw Tony, and where he met Marty. Marty, the guy he'd used to cheat on the guy he was missing.

“Nothing happened really, Derek turned out to be a sort of ass, now it seems he wants in my pants, but I'm not about to pull `em down for him,” Shane replied.

“Oh, the tables have turned have they?” Carly chuckled. “Anyway, we're gonna see a movie right?” She asked, purposely changing the subject. After all, Shane had said he wanted to get his mind off it, no use talking about it if that was the case.

“Yeah, I just saw Oceans Thirteen…” Shane's voice fell silent, remembering whom he saw it with. “Maybe…I heard 3:10 to Yuma was good… I mean, if you don't mind westerns. It's got Christian Bale…” He suggested. Carly chuckled, knowing of Shane's attraction to the said actor, as well as her own.

“Yuma it is,” She smiled. “Anything but Halloween for me,” She jumped down off his back and skipped over the computer to check the show times. Shane crossed his arms and looked around the house, noticing the changes since he'd last been inside it. Pretty much everything had been re-arranged, in fact, he could've sworn that the room he was standing in at the moment, which was obviously the living room, used to be the dining room.

The sound of footsteps alerted him and he whipped around toward the stairs. Chase and Jenny were on there way down, both their hair soaking wet, they'd apparently taken a shower.

“Wow,” Chase stopped, looking at Shane when he hit the bottom stair. “It's been a while Shane, you look hot…” He complimented. Shane nodded, wishing he could hide behind something so that Chase couldn't look at him. The last thing he needed was any boys, ex-boyfriends or not, hitting on him, besides Jason of course. “I'm surrounded by sexy people… if I hadn't already shot my load I'd love a foursome,” Chase was purposely teasing is red-headed girl friend, one he'd had for five years now. She giggled at the remark and kissed his lips.

“Come on, Chase, we've got some chicken wings to eat,” She took him by the hand and pulled him toward the door.

“All right, sounds good, see-ya `round Shane,” He waved as he was pulled out the door. Shane simply nodded back at him, arms stayed crossed and expression never changed. He didn't really have any reason to dislike Chase, but somehow he just couldn't help showing his bad mood.

“Aright, the next showing is in a half hour, so we can pick up something to eat, buy some popcorn, and then head to the movie,” Carly turned around in her chair, hands on her knees with her legs crossed, smiling cutely. Shane forced a smile onto his lips, just staring at her.
