Chapter Two
The next morning Akira woke up to the sound of his alarm clock blaring. Jumping out of bed he pulled the half rumpled covers neatly back into place and stripped off his sweats setting them neatly on the bed. After he’d pulled on a pair of jeans and an unwrinkled white button-up shirt he tugged the band from his hair and slipped it on his wrist. Leaving his hair free he grabbed his backpack and an extra set of glasses out of his desk drawer beside the dresser near the foot of his bed and his keys as he opened his door and rushed out. When he turned to lock his door he ran smack into someone, grunting as he fell to the floor slightly winded he heard a very unhelpful crunch that meant he’d broken his glasses. He looked up from where he’d fallen hard on his ass on the floor at the man he’d run into. The guy was taller than him by a couple inches with the same rich, caramel colored skin as him. The hair that fell to his feet also matched Akira’s in color and when he set his eyes on the face it too was beautiful rather than handsome like his own. Turning his head he noticed a man that looked exactly like the first standing beside him both holding small overnight bags. Both men looked down at him grinning happily with eyes a few shades lighter than Akira’s.“What’s up little brother,” the one that Akira had run into said as both of them reached a hand down to help him to his feet. Akira took both hands and let his brothers help him to his feet as he grinned at them. Opening his door back up he walked to his dresser and grabbed a new pair of glasses while his brothers put their bags up neatly in the closet. They left out the room and Akira locked up his door. Still grinning he turned to look at his twin brothers.
“Kinmitsu, Kinmune what the hell are you guys doing here?” He asked laughing while he locked his door.
“Well the last day of school before holidays you’re allowed to have family members sit in on your classes and clubs remember,” Kinmitsu, the one he’d run into, said in a deep almost musical ruffling his brother’s slightly damp hair.
“I remember,” Akira said pushing his brother’s hand off his head out of habit, “I just didn’t expect anyone would come.”
“Why not,” Kinmune asked in a deep, quiet tone. “Didn’t think we’d forget our own brother did you?”
“No,” Akira said as they walked toward the exit, “though I was hoping you wouldn’t come.”
“Why?” His twin brothers asked in unison confused.
“You’ll see,” Akira said sighing as they walked outside. There they were as usual, right out front.
“Hey fellahs it’s safe to take a bath Akira has now left the building,” one of the guys called out while the others laughed like always.
“Oh hey guys look Akira’s got two more just like him. Guess gay runs in the family,” the men teased as Akira ignored them and tried to make his way past. His brothers however stopped on the sidewalk directly in front of the men and turned looking at them. “Hey looks like the girly twins got offended,” the same man who noticed Akira’s brothers said, “maybe they want to take us on. Get their asses whipped by some real men.” When Kinmune stepped toward them however Akira caught his arm and pulled him back before turning to look at the speaker.
“Still talking shit huh Travis,” Akira said smiling cruelly. “You weren’t talking shit a few weeks ago when I beat your ass. And if you think I fucked you up even when I was going easy on you keep messing with my brothers and you may not walk for a year instead of a week.”
“Bring it you little pussy,” Trent said walking forward. He was just an inch under Akira’s brothers with fair skin and a strongly masculine face. Eyes of powder blue fringed with black glittered with anger as they regarded Akira and his brothers. “You may have beaten me once and put me out of commission for a week but I guarantee it won’t happen twice.” Akira opened his mouth to throw out another insult when he was cut off by a hand from Kinmitsu.
“So let me guess it was you guys that got our little brother in trouble for fighting in school huh?” He asked, the music in his voice hardening to sharp glass. “Why don’t you take me and my brother on, we’ll fight you and we won’t hold anything back.” Akira grabbed Kinmitsu and Kinmune’s arms and using almost all his strength hauled them away from the scene quickly.
“Knock it off,” Akira said angrily to them as he released them so that they could follow on their own. “You know damn good and well you can’t fight those idiots. Being a third-degree black belt does limit your opponents and while I appreciate you guys sticking up for me I can handle those clowns. I don’t want you guys getting in trouble for nothing.”
“How long has that gone on?” Kinmitsu asked in a harsh voice, “why didn’t you say something earlier?”
What could you possibly have done?” Akira asked slowing as they neared the girls dorm building. “Sure you could kill them easily enough or just hurt them really bad but all that would do is get you both locked up and I don’t want that,” he said looking up at his brothers as they stopped in front of the girls dorm building. His older brothers sighed displeased but they knew Akira was right.
“Even though we’ve got you by eight years,” Kinmune said smiling, “you’ve always been the smartest.”
“Which has got to be sad since I’m only seventeen,” Akira pointed out causing the others to laugh. The three brothers grinned happily before talk turned to what had been happening at home and their parents. After ten minutes Akira turned around at the sound of his voice and found Samantha smiling and waving as she ran over with a piece of toast in her mouth. She was struggling into her backpack and when she reached him and his brothers she was out of breath. As she said hello through a full mouth her backpack finally slid on to her shoulders but the toast fell out of her mouth. Kinmitsu bent catching the toast at the opposite end from where her mouth had been.
“Thanks,” Samantha said laughing softly as she took her toast back. “So who are these guys Ki-Chan?”
“There my older twin brothers,” Akira said through gritted teeth, “and stop calling me Ki-Chan.” Akira’s brothers laughed softly before holding out their hands to introduce themselves.
“I’m Kinmitsu,” said the one who had given her back her toast.
“And I’m Kinmune,”Said the other. “So is this your girlfriend Ki-Chan,” Kinmune said teasingly.
“I tried to ask her out four times but all she says is that she can’t date someone more beautiful than her,” Akira said gritting his teeth again, “and stop calling me Ki-Chan!”
“All right Ki-Chan just calm down,” Kinmitsu said laughing teasingly.
“All of you are full of shit,” Akira said beginning to walk in the direction of his first class.
“See you in second class Ki-Chan,” Samantha called as she walked toward her own class. Akira’s brothers caught up to him easily slinging their arms around him so that he was drawn into a more easier pace.
“Get off,” he said brushing at their arms in an effort to free himself, “your embarrassing me.”
“We always use to walk this way,” Kinmune pointed out as they walked.
“Yeah well I’m older now and it makes me feel stupid,” Akira said trying to push their arms off again.
“Tough luck,” Kinmitsu said shrugging his free shoulder, “you can’t push our arms off and you know it. Besides we’re your elders so you should respect us and allow us this little indulgence.” Akira sighed and gave up allowing his brothers arms to drape him while he continued to walk to class. It wouldn’t last much longer anyway he assured himself. When they sat down in separate seats he’d be free of them and the embarrassment they brought. Letting the thought comfort him he walked into his first class, advanced geometry to find a lot of the students both male and female having his current problem. Since the teacher had replaced their desks with long tables and regular chairs the visiting families got to sit as close to the students as they liked. To top it all off he saw almost all the girls in class turn to watch them and then confer with their female visitors in excited giggles. Akira walked to his usual place at the front of the class and sat with his brothers, unconsciously all their movements in perfect tandem. They sat together, moved soundlessly up to the table, and flipped their hair back behind them before sitting back all in perfect precision like a sensual dance that they had done for so long that neither of them noticed it until the girls clapped enthusiastically. When they realized what had happened they laughed as Akira pulled out his book so that the he could begin his lesson. The rest of his classes went accordingly and Akira even fell into the old routine enough that he didn’t mind his brothers slinging their arms around him while he walked in the middle. When classes were over they rushed back to Akira’s dorm room and he grabbed his violin and his karate gym bag while his brothers rummaged around in their bags. They brought out smaller bags and slung them over their shoulders. The three of them rushed out and they paused only long enough for Akira to lock his door before they continued on their way to the music room.
“What do you guys have in the bags,” Akira asked as they slowed to a walk upon reaching the hallway where the music room was located.
“Our instruments,” Kinmitsu said grinning.
“And our karate practice gear,” Kinmune finished.
“We’re allowed to participate in your activities today so we brought our gear.”
“Wow really,” Akira said getting excited, “do you think we can still preform the Devil’s Trill in a threesome?”
“Should if your band teacher has a piano,” Kinmune said ruffling his younger brother’s hair.
“Of course he does,” Akira said as he grabbed the handle to the music room’s door and pushed it open. Here too families were milling about with the students and Akira made his way to the middle where the other violinists sat with their families. Taking his seat in the first chair he listened as the director explained that the students would be preforming their better accomplishments to date and that family members could join in if they liked. After the director had asked each student what they would preform and whether their family would join in he returned to the front of the class and announced the play list. Happily Akira realized he was last again and easily brushed aside his brothers objections and their want to be first. “Trust me being last is good,” he said grinning, “gives us a chance to sit for a while and listen to the others before you two make fools of yourselves for not remembering the music.
“I remember the music very well thank you,” Kinmune said dejectedly.
“So do I,” Kinmitsu pointed out. “But do you remember the warm up exercise?”
“Yes,” Akira said smiling even more brightly. They listened quietly to the concert with trained ears catching the mistakes and touching their fists together to mark them. When it was their turn they stood gathering their instruments before walking up to the front while conversing about the others performance to themselves.
“All in all your band is great,” Kinmitsu said with a grin as he put his flute together and Kinmune took a seat at the piano.
“Yeah they are a good group to play with,” Akira said as they checked to make sure their instruments were properly tuned.
