Re-Work

There's another problem afoot. Hindeo got the call this morning.

“Hello?” he asked.

“Hindeo!” Murray said. The young man raised his eyebrow.

“Murray?” he asked. “What is it? Is something wrong?”

“Not really,” the producer said. “Are you free for a moment?”

“Sure,” Hindeo said.

“Great,” Murray said. “I want to talk about the script.” The younger man made a face.

“Okay…” he said.

“Now, don't get me wrong,” the American man said. “The script is good. It just needs a little work.” Hindeo frowned.

“What do you mean?” he asked.

“Well, the team and I decided to make some edits,” Murray said. “If that is okay with you of course.” The Japanese man took a moment to think.

“I will have to talk to Soon and Mai-Pai first,” he said.

Soon sat blinking.

“What?!” he asked. Hindeo shrugged.

“It's just some edits,” he said.

“Some edits? Some edits?!” the older man asked in a trembling voice. Mai-Pai put her hand on his shoulder.

“It's no big deal,” Hindeo said. “I told them I would talk to you first.” The couple looked at each other.

“What kind of edits?” Mai-Pai asked.

“I don't know,” Hindeo said. “I didn't ask.” Soon struggled to speak. His face looked red.

“No!” he said.

“But…” Hindeo said.

“No!” the older man said again. “I… I can't. I just… can't.” Mai-Pai rubbed his back.

“Shhh,” she whispered. “Shhh. Shhh.” Soon gently shoved her off. Hindeo frowned.

“Oh…” he said. He looked down at the table. “This is awkward. Looks like I will have to talk to Murray.” The young man made an uncomfortable face. Mai-Pai held up her hand.

“Let me talk to him,” she said. Hindeo kind of stared at her.

“You sure about that?” he asked. She nodded.

“I think I have an idea to fix this,” Mai-Pai said. She smiled as she spoke. Hindeo smiled as he nodded.

“Okay,” he said. “Sure.” Soon looked up with a confused look on his face.
