Meanwhile, Mai-Pai wants to join the modern world. Chiko was confused at first.

“Wait… what?” she asked.

“Yes,” her manager said.

“Um… okay…” Chiko said. Mai-Pai sat grinning.

“What?” she asked. Her employee shook her head.

“Nothing,” she lied. “What do you want to know?”

“I want to go on the Internet,” Mai-Pai said.

“Okay…” Chiko said. She turned to her computer.

“Come look at his,” the young woman said. Mai-Pai walked over for a look.

“Do you know how to use a computer?” she asked.

“A little,” her boss said. Chiko breathed out.

“Oh good,” she said. “We can start there.” Mai-Pai sat down next to her. And the computer lesson began.

Mai-Pai ended up going down an internet rabbit hole. She couldn't get enough.

“Oh, you're home early,” a voice said behind her. Mai-Pai whipped her head around. Soon stood in the doorway.

“What are you doing?” he asked. His wife smiled.

“The internet is amazing!” she said.

“Huh?” he asked.

“Come look at this,” she said. Mai-Pai turned to her computer. Soon walked over to her desk. His wife smiled and clicked a link to YouTube.

“See?” she asked. “I can watch videos online. And look!” Mai-Pai clicked another tab. eBay popped up on the screen.

“I can go shopping too!” she said. She wouldn't stop talking. Soon nervously chuckled.

“Dear,” he said. Mai-Pai ignored him.

“Dear,” Soon said again. She kept on talking.

“Dear!” he shouted. Mai-Pai turned her head.

“What?” she asked. Soon stood quiet for a moment. Mai-Pai cocked her head to the side.

“What?” she asked. Soon took a breath.

“Maybe you should slow down there?” he asked.

“Slow down?” she asked. Soon nodded.

“Oh…” his wife said. The man nervously laughed. How long was this going to last? Maybe she would move on to something else next week? Maybe…

Mai-Pai turned back to her computer and went further down the rabbit hole.
