Music Quiz

Round One

“Okay, question number one,” the host said. “Name the Beatles top hit in 1965! Go!” The bands discussed their answer among each other. Devil Train all looked at Blane.

“What?” he asked. His band members pushed him for an answer. Blane shrugged at them. Mai raised her hand.

“Yes, Mai?” the host asked. Lady Dragon's vocalist sat up.

“Yesterday?” she asked.

“That's correct!” the host said. A dinging noise filled the air. Twenty-five points. Mai sat smiling to herself. The Japanese members of Devil Train glared at Blane.

“What?!” he asked. They said nothing. Isao glared at Mai. He would not go down easily.

“Question number, how many hit singles has the group Pink Lady had?” the host asked. “Fifteen seconds.” Isao raised his hand.

“Isao?” the host asked. The Charm Inu vocalist stood up.

“15 million,” he said. Mai narrowed her eyes.

“That is correct!” the host said. Another ding filled air. Twenty-five points. Isao sat down, grinning. Mai clicked her tongue. Now it was on.

This quiz turned into a war between Isao and Mai. No one else mattered. Some bandmates grew a little worried. Charm Inu and Lady Dragon were tied. Shinta gritted his teeth.

“I will not go down like this!” he hissed. He turned back to his bandmates.

“Come on!” he snapped. “What the hell are you doing?! Get it together! You're making me look bad!”

“Sorry, man,” Kenta said. “We're trying.” Shinta gritted his teeth.

“Don't fail me again!” he growled.

“Yes,” his band mumbled.

Round Two

“Okay!” the host said. “Time for our next game!” Drum roll ripped through the air.

“Ne that tune!” the audience shouted. They began to cheer. Isao and Mai sat grinning.

We've got this!

“For this game, we will play a thirty-second piece of music,” the host explained. “Our guests have to guess the song and artist before time is up. Begin!” The first song began to play. The bands took a hard listen. The clip stopped short.

“Now, name that tune!” the host said. Shizu stood up, smiling.

“Pink Lady, `Kiss in the Dark'?” he asked. There was a pause. All eyes fell on him. Devil Train's vocalist held his breath.

“That is correct!” the host shouted. Shizu thought he would faint as the ding sounded through the air. Fifteen points. Isao and Mai glared at their new rival. This was their battle. No one else was welcome in. No one!

“Next song!” the host shouted. This round turned into a battle between Isao and Mai. Their answers could put bullets to shame.

“`Norwegian Wood', Beatles.”

“`Saku', Dir en Grey.”

“`Gangnam Style', Psy.”

“`Paint it Black', Rolling Stores.”

“`Can You Celebrate?', Amuro Namie.”

There was no end in sight. No one else could get a word in. The audience and host took it all in. Who can blame them? The other guests began to wonder if they should cut in and stop this. It probably wouldn't have worked. They just didn't want to have their heads snapped off. Isao and Mai cut off everything around them. No one wanted that, now did they? What did Isao and Mai care? This was their war. No one else mattered. No one!

Despite the circus growing out of control on screen with everyone lapping it up, there was on person who was not impressed.
