Heart Headaches

-Isao-

I found Gary waiting outside. I threw my hands up in the air.

“You made it!” I said. Gary bowed his head.

“Yes, my lord,” he said. “Your knight in shining armor is here.” I ran over to him.

“Where to, my lord?” Gary asked.

“Please,” I said. “Don't do that. Let's just go.”

“Alright,” he said. We headed off to his car.

“What will you tell Raja?” Gary asked. I shrugged.

“Right…” he said. He unlocked the car and climbed into the driver's side. I got in on the passenger's side. He pulled out od the parking lot. I looked behind me at the restaurant. Mai should be fine.

Gary and I rode around town. I stared out the window.

“You okay?” he asked.

“Yeah,” I said. I sighed and dropped my shoulders.

“What's wrong?” he asked. I shrugged.

“Want to talk about it?” he asked.

“Not really,” I said.

“Okay,” he said. I watched the city go by.

“I don't get her,” I said.

“Hm?” Gary asked.

“Mai,” I said. “She's just weird.”

“Yeah.”

“I mean…” I sighed as I tried to find my words. “She's just pissy all the time.”

“Uh-huh.”

“What did I do to piss her off?”

“I don't know. Probably nothing.”

I turned my head. “That can't be right.”

“What do you want me to say?” Gary asked.

“I don't know,” I said. “She's just a miserable person.”

“I know. You've told me about a hundred times already,” Gary complained. I tilted my head.

“No, I haven't,” I said.

“Yes, you have,” he said. “You bring her up every time we meet up.” I have him an odd look.

“Do I?” I asked.

“Yes!” Gary said. I frowned and puffed up my cheeks.

“I do not,” I muttered.

“Why are you so obsessed with her?” he asked. I wrinkled my nose.

“What are you talking about? I am not!” I said.

“Isao,” he said. I rolled my eyes.

“Forget it,” I muttered.

“No,” he said.

“What?” I asked.

“You have a problem.”

“Huh? No, I don't.”

“Yes, you do. Mai is all you talk about.”

I frowned at him. “You don't know what you are talking about.”

“You sure about that?” Gary asked. He pulled up at a stoplight. I faced him.

“What's your problem?” I asked.

“What's your problem?” he asked. “Why are you so obsessed with her? Don't tell me you like her.”

“What?! No!”

Gary rolled his eyes. “Could've fooled me.”

I raised my eyebrow. “Wait… Are you… jealous?” His face turned bright red.

“What?! No!” he shouted.

“You are!” I said.

“I am not!”

“Yes, you are.”

“Shut up.” He gritted his teeth. The light turned green. He's so cute angry. Gary pulled away. I looked out the window.

-------

We didn't talk for the rest of the drive. I frowned at the window. Gary didn't know what he's talking about. I didn't “like” Mai. She's just as bad as Raja. Why did that bastard want us together? It's all so dumb. I didn't like her. Gary and Raja were just being stupid.
