Love Reckoning

Day Two

Subaru's phone buzzed on her nightstand.

“Mmm,” she grumbled as she turned over in bed. The phone buzzed again.

“Go away,” the guitarist mumbled. The buzzing didn't stop.

“You should answer that,” Katsuya said.

“Aw, do I have to?” Subaru asked. Her phone buzzed again. She sighed.

“Fine,” she mumbled. The female guitarist reached for her phone. She opened her eyes to a next text.

“Huh?” Subaru asked.

“What is it?” Katsuya asked.

“It's a text from Yoko,” she said. She tapped the screen. Only one sentence appeared in the text message.

“Is this you?”

Subaru scrolled down on the message. Her eyes widened as she gasped.

“What's wrong?” her lover asked. Subaru didn't speak. She showed him the text. Katsuya took her phone for a look. There it was. That damned picture.

“Oh shit,” he muttered.

“What do we do?” Subaru asked. Katsuya clutched her phone.

“We've got no choice,” he said.

“No…” she said.

“We don't have a choice,” the male guitarist said. Subaru lowered her eyes.

Both Lady Dragon and Charm Inu waited in the lobby. Subaru and Katsuya sat in front of them. He grabbed her hand.

“Yes, we are dating,” he said. Subaru blushed. Their bands didn't know how to process this at first.

“What?” they asked.

“It's true,” Subaru said. There came a pause.

“Why?” Mai asked.

“I love him,” Subaru said. The vocalist rolled her eyes.

“How long has this been going on?” Isao asked.

“Six months,” the couple said.

“That long?” Mai asked.

“Yes,” Katsuya said. Another pause came.

“So… what are you going to do?” Hideki asked. The guitarist's hand tightened around his girlfriend's.

“Go public,” he said. Mai eyed Subaru.

“And you're okay with this?” she asked.

“Yes,” the female guitarist said. “We talked about it.” The vocalist clicked her tongue.

“Why do you care so much?” Isao asked. “If they are happy then that's their business.” Mai turned to him, glaring. The other vocalist said nothing.

“Are you happy?” Yoko asked.

“Yes,” the couple said. The drummer sat back with her arms folded across her chest.

“Well, okay,” she said. “I'm fine with that.”

“What?” Mai asked. Yoko shrugged.

“Yes,” the couple said. The drummer sat back with her arms folded across her chest.

“Well, okay,” she said. “I'm fine with that.”

“What?” Mai asked. Yoko shrugged.

“Hey, if they are in love, who are we to judge,” she said.

“But happens if they break up?” the vocalist asked. No one said a thing.

“We'll deal with it when we get there,” Katsuya said. Subaru nodded with resolve. Mai dripped her head and sighed.

“Oh boy…” she mumbled. They just didn't see it.

Katsuya and Subaru's relationship hit the official news. The fans were divided as predicted. Some were happy for them while others… not so much. But what can be said? It is what it is. Still, there were questions that remained. Who would hook up next? Well…
