The moon shone dimly through the pale gauze curtains. Lyre stared up at the ceiling as he ran his fingers through Elgas' emerald hair.

"This trip has certainly given you confidence," Elgas commented as he kissed Lyre's chest.

"It's given me a lot of other things as well," Lyre replied.

"Don't worry about the scar. It doesn't change the way I feel about you."

"I'm not worried about the scar. I guess I'm worried about my parents. My father almost died a couple of times while we were on that trip. He's the strongest demon I know but he is not invincible. One of these days, he will die. I know Lee is strong but he is not strong enough to deal with the loss of m father. I do not think he could handle the crown if it were turned over to him."

"And it would be handed back to you."

"Right."

"And you don't want that."

"My father has been a just king. I fear that I won't be able to duplicate that."

"You haven't tried it yet."

"I know. When I have to do it, my father will be gone. I don't know if I could run this place like him."

"You couldn't," Elgas said as he drew himself up off of Lyre's body. "Your rule may be similar to your father's but it won't be exactly the same."

"I see your point. But I don't think I could make decisions like him."

"I see the problem. You lack self-confidence. You're perfectly capable of doing this. If you had to, I mean. Your father isn't six feet under yet."

"True. Guess I'm worrying about nothing, then."

Elgas gently kissed Lyre's chest and Lyre shut his eyes.

"You must be very tired," Elgas commented and Lyre nodded his head.

"I am. I'm really glad to be back here with you, though. What did you do the entire time I was gone?"

"I'll tell you about it tomorrow. You're too tired to get into a discussion tonight."

"What do you mean?"

"Tomorrow. This isn't the time to talk about it. Tomorrow is."

"All right. I'm too tired to argue anyway. Could you move a little lower?"

"I thought you were tired."

"I've also waited a hell of a long time for you. I refused to do it with a human, even though he was more than willing to."

"I thought that was why we went to the city."

"He was a nice human but I couldn't bring myself to doing it with him. Not while I was missing you."

"I don't fault you for making love to a human."

"But I didn't," Lyre said as he sat up. He stared at Elgas for a moment then narrowed his eyes.
"You're leaving me."

"I don't want to talk about it tonight," Elgas replied and Lyre growled in anger. He pushed Elgas away and stood up, wincing slightly at the pain in his leg. He walked towards the bedroom door and opened it. Lyre slammed the door behind him and began walking.

"You don't know how hard this was for him," Karu said and Lyre looked at him.

"I've known him since I was an infant. How could he leave me like this?" Lyre asked.

"He feels that he can do greater things with the arcdemons."

"Damn it! I leave to protect my father and I'm losing my lover!"

"What's going on?" Ryo asked as he stepped out of his room, his body moist with perspiration.

"He's leaving me," Lyre said as Ryo placed a hand behind him.

"Wait a second, will you? Who's leaving you?"

"Elgas."

"What?" Lee asked as he stood up. He placed his arms around Ryo's neck and leaned in close to him.

"I knew you were right there. Elgas is leaving me," Lee said.

"As I've told your son, your highness, this was an extremely difficult decision for him to make," Karu said.

"Have you talked to him?" Lee asked.

"He won't discuss anything," Lyre replied and began walking down the hall.

"Where are you going?"

"Leave him alone," Ryo said and Lee glanced at him.

"But..."

"He doesn't need you right now. Come on. Let's finish what we started."

"Don't you think...?"

"Yes I do. Get back in the bedroom. We need to finish. He's going to be okay, Lee."

"I just don't want him to get over-emotional."

"Like you?"

"You get over-emotional too."

"Not as bad as you."

"No, you just turn into a monster when you're really pissed off."

"THANK you for that insult."

"I didn't mean for it to be insulting."

"How else could you have meant it?"

Lee sighed as Ryo pushed him back on the bed. He gazed down at the older male and grinned widely as he leaned forward and forcefully kissed him. Lee leaned back on his elbows and closed his eyes as he felt his throat throb with the force of Ryo's tongue. Ryo drew back, allowing Lee to gasp for breath.

"Come on, it wasn't all that bad," he said and Lee smiled in fatigue.

"I guess I'm just a little tired," he admitted.

"Well you were the one that kept telling me to get to bed when we were in the stable. Were you tired or did you just want the sex? And here I was thinking you were concerned about my injury..."

"I WAS concerned. I mean I AM concerned. Don't play games with me, honey."

"Don't get pissed with me. If you're going to sulk, then I'm going to pack up my toys and go to sleep."

"I don't want your toys packed up. Especially not that one."

"Okay then. Shut up and let me do it. We need our rest as well. As soon as everyone finds out I'm back, they're going to want me to do business."

"Too bad you can't chain me to the bed and get REALLY forceful."

"That kind of torture will have to wait until we're back into our normal routine. Tonight, it'll just have to be a lick and a promise."

"Well, I hope it's a little more than just a lick..."

"It will be. Don't worry about that."
